Configurations tools ( netca,dbca ,assistants) not started during install

Friends,
I am trying to install Oracle 9iR2 on redhat advanced server.
We copied the files into a staging area.During
install it asked for Oracle.swd.jre file which i checked
not there.
But i ignored the error message and finished the
install.Installation went through successfully but the
configurations tools netca,dbca and agent assistants have
not started. Apache server has started sucessfully.
I have done installs earlier on Redhat 8 but i never
had problems like this.I checked the staging area and i could able to see a directory like oracle.swd.jre in
Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre but not the file.
I will be glad if anyone can tell me the work around
for this.

I'm installing Java Add-In onto ERP 2004 (Windows 2000, Oracle 9.2, Java 2 SDK 1.4.2_08).
The J2EE does not start during the installation. It gives up after some time. java -version shows the correct path.

In that case, do u have multiple versions of JDKs installed ?
Maybe some earlier version is installed too ! In that case there is a program that comes along with the JDK to choose the version of the JDK that needs to be loaded into memory.
We faced this problem when we were doing our stints with JAVA Add-In wherein the system required the newest version of java where as some tool which was installed on the system required the older version.
So we used the java program to select the version to be loaded whenever the operating system tried loading the jdk.

Dispacher and server0 is not started during NW2004s installation

Dispacher and server0 is not started during NW2004s installation. SAPInst is stopped on the step of the 'Start java instance'. SDM is 'running' but dispacher and server0 is 'Starting framwork'. So I configured the some parameters via configtool but I can't solve this probelm. I found the some error logs as the followings.

Check if the Database serivice is up and running. If this is not so.. you might have to start all over again..!!

"iPod service failed to start" during install

Trying to update iTunes to the latest version however, I get the message "Service, 'iPod service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privleges to start system services"
I'm using the administrator account. I can (sometimes) see the ipod service when i run services.msc from the run dialog box however i am unable to start it from there either as it says there's something missing. I've tried following the complete uninstall of iTunes and quicktime instructions on the apple support pages to no avail.
Whilst the installer wont finish, i can still run the new version of iTunes by opening it form the 'program files\itunes' folder but if i try to close the install box, iTunes gets uninstalled again.
I do vaguely remember disabling / doing something to the ipod service at one point for reasons i don't remember. I realise this is most likely the cause but how to solve it... i'm drawing blanks.
Bring me back my iTunes... Please.

that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."

download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)

do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.

CSS not starting while installing ASM on Standalone Server

Hi All,
While installing ASM on AIX server, CSS is not coming up. This server is not on cluster. I have given below the output of after executing the root.sh script.

Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 600 seconds.
Giving up: Oracle CSS stack appears NOT to be running.
Oracle CSS service would not start as installed
Automatic Storage Management(ASM) cannot be used until Oracle CSS service is started

It is probably because the software is too old to install/use on your new machine. Look at the files on the disk and see if there are any there that you might try to use to initiate installation.

CSSD does not start during root.sh execution

J2EE server does not start during installation

Hi,
I am installing WebAS JAVA 640 (NW04 SR1) on a Windows 2003/MSSQL server. I am using JAVA SDK 1.4.2_9. The installation stops at step 24/25 whereby the installer waits for the J2EE engine to start. After making 3 attempts to start the J2EE server, the installation process just hangs and I have to Cancel the installation.
BTW, I am specifying a heap size of 1024 MB and using the "Database Only" option as UME data store during installation.
Having checked the trace and log files, it seems the UME service fails to start, throws an exception and the message "the start of a core service failed, Web AS will not start".
According to the information available <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/20/361941edd5ef23e10000000a155106/content.htm">here</a>, I have checked the settings and it seems that option 2, <b>"User or group data is missing"</b> is causing the problem since database content of UME is missing. I have tried selecting entries from table UME_STRINGS but this table is empty.
Now, the same link says that I should login to UME web application as SAP* but the problem is that without the J2EE engine starting up, I cannot login and create missing users/groups.
Any ideas???

Thanks to all who replied. I have actually tried all options suggested like waiting for retries until the box appears, trying to manually start the server, and reducing heap size. None worked for me. For your information, I have a 2.4 GHz machine with 4GB RAM so I think heap size should not be an issue. I checked SAP Note regarding heap size issues in Win 2003 but that does not seem to apply in my case since my system does not behave abnormally with JVM settings.

Application does not start during the engine restart.

Hello all,
after deploying a custom developed application to the engine the application works fine. However, when the J2EE is restarted the application page is not available with the following message:
Application error occurred during request processing. Details:Error
[javax.servlet.ServletException: Spo object was not created during the
startup], with root cause [com.appname.exception.SevereException:
Spo object was not created during the startup].
Exception id: [0013729689A200590000009D00000D90000446937D1802B7]
The application is shown running from visual administrator.
The application page is again available when we restart the application
manually from visual admin.
SO everytime we restart the engine we need to restart the application
too in order to get back the application page back.
There are many errors in the SPO log like the following:
ERROR [SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_25] - Failed to set up connection pool: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at java:comp, the whole lookup name is java:comp/env/jdbc/qaht6114.
Can anyone please advice us on what could be the problem here?

Download Assistant not starting off elements download

I have had error issues when trying to download premier elements 10 CD version. Error code had a 7 in it (sorry closed window already). Went through trouble shoot to download trial first and then would install full version using the license number. Downloaded Elements Premier trial. Went to download Elements and it would not start. Downloaded Adobe Download Assistant again and Elements would not start or no prompt would open. Do I need to uninstall Premier and start with Elements and then install Premier? Any recommendations?

Why does setup assistant not start?

I fully chraged the iPad but when I try to start it, and expect the Startup Assistant to appear, only the iTunes logo appears. This does not clear. How can I get the startup assistant to, well, start?

Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes - if it does not start on its own. That is what the logo on the screen is telling you to do - connect to iTunes. Once iTunes starts, it should instruct you in the step but step activation process.

SQL Server 2012 DB Engine does not start (clean install with server 2012 and 2008 R2)

I'm trying to do clean installation of SQL server 2012 on Server 2012 (which is runnning as a VM on ESX server) and getting this "wait on the DB engine recovery failed" message. Initially, I though this issue was related to some permission issues
but changing the permission or service accounts didn't help. I'm not seeing any "denied" messages in the log files either. Even with Server 2008 R2 (clean built VM), the installation gives the exactly the same error messages.
My setup is purely for test purpose; so, the security is not a concern. Can someone help or give me a clue where to look?

In the logs i m seeing the error message "An error occurred while processing the log for database 'model'. If possible, restore from backup. If a backup is not available, it might be necessary to rebuild the log.".
1) If the SQL Services was installed successfully and SQL Service was not able to start because of model database issue...
    1.1) If you have model database SQL back file, start the SQL Server in single user mode with minimum configuration and try to restore MODEL database

    1.2) If you don't have backups., try to rebuild the system databases but make sure that you are not losing any data critical data on master and SQL Jobs on MSDB

2) As if this is a new installation try to repair the instance with the help of setup media file
3) If the repair option fails., the last option wipe out the complete SQL Server components from Services.msc and Registries and start new installation.
4) Make sure when you are doing un-installation all the required SQL Server components on services.msc should be in stop state.

Oracle web tier install+config: opmn does not start after install

Centos 5 box.
After a silent install of web tier 11.1.1.2 opmn will not start. The installation was "complete" but I found some errors in the various log files.
When I try to start a process (for example) using opmn this error occurs in the log file:

Command line says unexpected error, code 512 or something to that effect. The given wallet directory is empty.

The configuration of completed successfully.
Checking a screen shot of someone else's configure output theirs continues beyond
"Bootstrapping OPMN configuration files..."
and correctly generates the instance etc.
I have tried a reinstall, and also tried a generate a new instance using the silent config tool. Same errors each time.
Log also states;
Oracle Instance Home
                        Instance Home Size: 0 MB (or 40mb)
                        Available: 0 MB
. This varies between installs and configs but available is always 0. There is Gb's of space available in the directory and the user has write permissions.
Can anyone tell me why it is failing to correctly generate the wallet?

Solved. Oracle_home and Instance home must be subdirectories of MIDDLEWARE_HOME. MIDDLEWARE HOME and command to not install updates must be added to response file. Helpful to install and configure separately.

[BO XI 3.1] BO Designer not starting after installing SP5

Hello All!
I installed SP5 on top of BO XI 3.1 SP3 (Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit) on server. There is an issue that Designer is not starting. The process designer.exe shows up in "Task manager" for 1-2 second and disappear. No entries in Event Viewer and in BO logs. I also installed SP5 on client desktop machine and the same happens.
Do you have any tips/advices? Thanks for that!

we are not aware of such type of problem and it is most likely something peculiar to the configuration or architecture of your deployment.
I would analyze trace logs from Designer and from Process Monitor ( [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645] )
My advice is to open a support message because is a complicated investigation that probably will need some remote support as well

Apache does not start after installing the policy web agent

We get the following error when we start the apache webserver on linux which has opensso policy agent installed/configured to it.

Could not find the issue/solution for this problem on internet... Please suggest if anyone has some solution to this.

Once I had an iAS 1.0.2.2 running without problems. However after installing Patch 7 for Forms (released 27 august 2001) I get exactly the same error messages as Pieter. I have tried starting apache as administrator, comment out mod_ose, set wv_gateway_cfg, but none seem to work. Please help.
