Configurations & Workareas
In previous Oracle Repository releases I managed to base a Work Area (via the WA-rules) on one or more configurations. In the current release (release 3) this does not work anymore. I am able to specify the wa-rule: Include_Config(xxx(MAIN;1)= Configuration) but after Finishing, the configuration objects are not displayed in the WA. Is there a workaround or patch or way of working to solve this issue???
Raymond,
Sorry, I no longer have Rel 3 installed, but have checked this with Release 4 and all is well. We do use Release 3 elsewhere within development and I have not come across this problem. Are you sure the version of the configuration really does contain objects, and have you refreshed the workarea?

Good day,
Recently I started using Designer's above mentioned version. Gradually one gets to discover things that have changed, which are possibly not documented.
One very handy option that seems to fail to work is the possibility - in the Version History Viewer - to right-click on a red, blue or white bullet representing a version of an object, and then selecting either Included in Workareas, Included in Configuration and Version Properties. None of these work.
I remember in Designer 6i it worked, but not anymore, unless I am missing something. I used them very often and really miss these options. Hope somebody can give me some more information on this topic.
Kind regards,
Victor Bax
Leiden, The NetherlandsThis problem is known and is being followed up. But these buttons could still be used if you invoke the version history viewer from the command line tool.
RON menu -> tools -> command line tool.
Then issue the 'vhv' command on the required object .
Once the version history viewer comes up you can click on the versions and invoke the version properties or included in configuration/ workareas information -
BBM 4.6.0 history
I'm curious to find out if old BBM messages and conversations are stored anywhere on the service provider server or if RIM has any way of retrieving these messages. I keep hearing that the whole PIN to PIN circumvents the server, so there's no history of the chats. Is that the case??

Workarea rule to include configuration doesn't work
Hi,
I created a workarea with the rule 'INCLUDE_CONFIG(Test R1 Int Test{MAIN;1}=Configuration)', however the workarea doesn't show the included configuration in the navigator, even after refresh and requery. The configuration and its member though can be seen.
I use 9i SCM (9.0.2.80.10).
Am I missing something ?Stephan,
You probably have not included the owning folders of the files. If they are not in this, or an additional configuration you will never see the files.

Driver program Configurations for CO03/CO02
Hi All,
Requirement:
We are configure script and driver program in OPK8 With list type LP01.
Issue:
This driver program is not triggered CO03/CO02 transaction level For this we need configure any other transaction.
Can you suggest me how to resolve this issue.
Thanks in Advance,
Rajeshbabuv.Hi,
Check whether you have maintained an entry of the smartform in NACE, and removed any sapscript assigned under FORM in NACE.
Place a break point in Program RSNAST00 at line number 799, and check the values of TNAPR workarea, see what the Driver program and smartform name
TNAPR-PGNAM = ?
TNAPR-SFORM = ?

Is my test suite configured properly?
I am building db-4.6.19 from source on Novell SuSE Linux 9.2 on ia64 (Intel Itanium2) hardware, then running the test suite with tclsh 8.4. Here’s my configuration line:
cd build_unix
../dist/configure prefix=/home/mark/WORKAREAS/webplatform/build/dev/20070924 with-test --with-tcl=/usr/lib
I run make and that goes well, then I run the standard test in tclsh via:
echo 'info tclversion; source ../test/test.tcl; run_std; exit' | tclsh; tail ALL.OUT
Most of the tests pass, but the tail of ALL.OUT is at db-4.6.19/build_unix/ALL.OUT (below) produces many error messages for a few tests. They seem to be variations on the same issue, and I’m not sure how to fix it at this point – can someone point me to help? It appears that a command isn't parsing properly.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot further, it seems to be a syntax error.
Thanks!

...and so on to the end. This seems to be the same issue I'd originally reported in this thread. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this? I'm not a tcl expert, unfortunately.
Thanks again for your help or pointers!

11G R2 Enterprise Manager Configuration
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to configure EM on my 11G R2 standalone installation (on Win XP Pro) and am running into some problems. I've been cruising these forums for a while and can't seem to find an answer to what's causing me trouble so thought I'd throw it out there.
When I initially installed Oracle the EM service didn't started - and hasn't since. At the time it wasn't important so I didn't investigate further, but I'm wanting to do some performance profiling and need the EM for that.
I have followed a few guides and have managed to de-configure EM and drop the repository. I have successfully executed the....
emca -repos create*
...command, but am having troubles executing the....
emca -config dbcontrol db+
...command. The output is below;
C:\>emca -config dbcontrol db*

What's confusing about this is that it doesn't ask me for a listener port or user passwords - which I am expecting.

...and again, what's confusing here is the number of parameters that aren't set - even though I have them set. For example, I have ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOSTNAME and ORACLE_UNQNAME all set - but it doesn't seem to pick them up.
I'm also not sure why it's searching for the enoms.properties file with a directory that doesn't exist!
Any pointers on this would be awesome as I'm rapidly losing the will to live trying to figure this out!
Many thanks,

Downloading files contained in a configuration
I have created a configuration with many files. I can't seem to figure out how to download all the files contained in the configuration.
For example: In the RON, expand the configurations node, select MyConfiguration, right-click... no download files (nor is the option on the utilities menu enabled), so, how can download all the files contained in my configuration?
I'm using version 9.0.4.3.14.
Thanks for any help.you cannot download from a configuration.
You need to create a workarea based on the configuration and from there download the files. -
Problems configuration ldapRealm
Hello,
I am trying to configure BEA Portal with our LDAP server which is Windows
Active Directory.
Here is the info on my environment:
BEA Portal 7.0, sp2
OS for LDAP server is Windows 2000
Here is the entry in my config.xml file for the ldap configuration:

Name="ldapRealm" Password="<some encrypted password>"
RealmClassName="weblogic.security.ldaprealmv2.LDAPRealm"/>
I am using ldap v2 so I had to create a Custom Realm. When I switch my
caching realm to my ldapRealm and restart the server, I get the following

Here's what I've found concerning BEA Portal 7 and Active Directory
2000. By the way, this is current as of BEA Platform 7.0.2.0. This
could change with version 8.1 and beyond.
- Active Directory does not currently work with Portal's
"compatibilityRealm"
- A future patch will be released by BEA (date unknown)
Instead, I would investigate and use either the Sun ONE Directory
Server (also known as, "iPlanet Directory"), Novell's eDirectory (also
known as, "NDS"), or OpenLDAP.
Give me a call if you need specifics.

You really need to look at AWR reports (if you are licensed) or set up Statspack, then look at the details you get in the "PGA Histogram" section of the report. This comes from the v$sql_workarea_histogram and summarises the number of workarea requirements you've had, the number that were met (optimal) the number that dropped to one-pass, and the number that dropped to multipass.
It's possible that your 'hit percentage' is the result of a very small number of very large operations, in which case it may be pointless to increase the pga_aggregate_target very much - and perhaps you need to find out why the small number of very big hitters appeared. Alternatively, you may find that you have a larger number of relatively small (few MB) operations that dropped to one-pass, which may be a better indicator that you need a larger pga_aggregate_target.
Bear in mind, though, that timing can be significant - you may have only one hour in the day where a major load appears and skews the result, and it would be a good idea to find that skew.

Change workarea rule using the Repository API
Hi,
I have a simple question: Can I use the Repository API (either
Java or PLSQL packages) to change the rule of workarea: in order
to add to or remove configurations from the rule? I do not want
the use the RON and preferably not the CLT either.
I could not find anything about this functionality in the API
doc.

associated with a rule, NULL if the entry is configuration based.
param1 through v_param3 are parameter values (if any) for the
rule.
c_exclude specifies whether to exclude or include objects
produced by the rule or contained in the configuration.
Use entry_ivid to specify a configuration. This is in the Model
and API documentation.

Incrementing major version of configuration
When I create a new version of an existing configuration in RON the program increments minor version number of the configuration, e.g. 1.2 -> 1.3 -> 1.4 etc. But if I want the major version number to be incremented, e.g. 1.4 -> 2.0, how can I make that happen? In Configuration Properties window the field showing version seems to be always in read-only state, so I cannot use that but is there any other way to do what I need? Actually there is quite analogous problem with files in my private workarea. How to increment major version number of a file?
Risto NieminenRisto,
That's one limitation that's rather hard to work around. You have two options:
(1) Manually specify the version number EVERY time you check in an object. This is not a very sensible solution unless you can be sure every developer will abide by this standard without fail. You can't easily add a version number after the object has been checked in.
(2) Don't ascribe any significance to the generated version numbers. Don't use the generated version numbers as release numbers, for example. Instead, name your configurations for the external release numbers, e.g. RELEASE_2_4_1 for release 2.4.1. -

Use configuration management for multi site application
Hi,
My client develop an application multi site with designer 6i. We want to use the configuration management .
The application will be deploy in 10 sites, but not necessary with the same version of the application.
You want to control that with the configuration management of designer 6i.
Someone has some experience with that ??
Can i have some reference or detail experience ??
Thanks a lot
chrisI asked this sort of question for creating a live and a test release of an application. The answer I got was to create a configuration of based on my application and then to create an applications based on the the versions of the configuration.
Then, I could check the configuration against the main workarea to tell me what was out of date.
I could also use the configuration wizard to create a new version (of the configuration) selecting the versions of the modules I wanted (ie: newer ones). Then I created a new version of the release application using the new configuration.
Finally, in the command tool I can select the release work area which will extract correct module versions (I have the .fmbs) and I can compile a release.
I guess your solution here is to have a main workarea with all the source, then a configuration of that and then one release application for every site. Each release application could use a different version of the configuration - depending on how up to date they are.
