Configurator ROI and Usage

I'm trying to get a good understanding for how people are using the configurator.
I currently work for a manufacturing company. Customers have a few options for ordering, either configured * #;s pre-configured items or standard items. For our company pre-config items and standard items are used for the same purpose. The configured * #'s are not used to build the BOM, but more or less used to enhance proper configuration selections. Essentially, this design is still causing multiple bom's.
Is there a good standard of how configurator should be used in regards to pre-config items vs * # generation?
Is pre-config a pre-historic way to go?
Do other places who use configurator use the * # generation specifically for building the BOM and help with guided buying/selling?
OR
Do you create multiple BOM's and use the configurator to get the proper configurations, without contributing to the BOM?
OR
Do you use a little of both?
Which way has proven to show better cost savings for Engineering and Customer Service combined?
I don't expect there to be any one answer, but I am pulling together some statistics for our own company.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

It can be a discrete item or a pre-configured item. We have both that use this same format. For some of our products the customer sees the * # and for others they don't. We are a dealer based company. Our dealers have standard part numbers in their systems and would prefer ordering by this method. Our dealers are extremely large, order entry in 1 location, billing in another location and the ship to in a different location. They want to order XXX-216 electronically in excel based on catalog #'s (not through configurator) and want to see XXX-216 when they receive in the product. The product # they order has to match the product # on the sales order acknowledgment we send. The only issue is that the products they order are configurable, so instead of using configurator for what it is, we're back to creating standard item numbers. Our dealers drive our business. And we don't do any customizations.
My initial quest in this post was to see what the standard is. Not really to solve a particular issue. I do really appreciate your responses.
Thanks.

  • SIP trunking monitoring and usage report

    Hello all,
Recently the IP telephony system has migrated to SIP trunking from PRI.   SIP trunking is running on CUBE 2900 serials.
Could anyone advise the following?    much appreciate it.
    .  SIP trunking monitoring :
If MIB needed,   any brief steps to configure it on monitored device and monitoring system?
. SIP trunking usage report :
Any software/application could generate the usage report?   and show the cocurrent calls?
    Thanks again,
    master002

Thanks Nadeem for the reply,  looks Variphy Insight is the option?
I have installed RTMT and was able to get the real time data instead of the usage report.  I also have CUOM -- operation manager, I haven't customized it to monitor SIP trunking yet.
As my previous post mentioned,  any one could share the idea or experience on SIP trunking monitoring and usage report?
    Thanks again,

  • BC SETS creation and usage for sap mm  point of view

    Hi All,
Need Information About  BC SETS  creation and usage from sap mm point of view.
Thanks in advance for sap mm forum guys.
    Regards.
    Parameshwar.

    Hi,
Customizing settings can be collected by processes into Business Configuration Sets (BC Sets). BC Sets make Customizing more transparent by documenting and analyzing the Customizing settings. They can also be used for a group rollout, where the customizing settings are bundled by the group headquarters and passed on in a structured way to its subsidiaries.
BC Sets are provided by SAP for selected industry sectors, and customers can also create their own.
When a BC Set is created, values and combinations of values are copied from the original Customizing tables into the BC Set and can be copied into in the tables, views and view clusters in the customer system. The BC Sets are always transported into the customer system in which Customizing is performed.
    Advantages of using BC Sets:
    1.     Efficient group rollout.
    2.     Industry sector systems are easier to create and maintain.
    3.     Customizing can be performed at a business level.
    4.     Change Management is quicker and safer.
    5.     Upgrade is simpler.
To create BC sets follow the below step:
Choose Tools ® Customizing ® Business Configuration Sets® Maintenance in the SAP
menu, or enter the transaction code SCPR3 in the command field.
    Choose Bus.Conf.Set ® Create.

  • HANA Studio: Installation and usage

    Hi,
I am currently retaking the the introduction course in the HANA development and wonder about the HANA studio GUI presented there.
    Installation:
I see on the HANA Dev site that there is the Studio and the Client. Do I need both for installation? Or is in the studio already the client provided? If not, why are they separated? (instead of combined?)
Short: What is finally required for installation?
Plus in the intro on the second unit it is mentioned that I have to install as well some regi (???) client to access the HANA repositories. Is this still true? Also reg. config I see in the 1.0.80 version not the config-items as mentioned in the video. So, do I need them? resp. where to configure them?
    Usage:
And last but not least I wonder about the statement that the System View is not much used. Better use the Project Explorer (or so). According to the video you could create your own files with the extensions you like and they will automatically associate with the proper editor. Is it really that in daily business the System View is hardly used? One creates his/her own files with appending the appropriate file ending?
    roland

    >Since everything is done in the System View (e.g. create an Analytic View) where is it stored?
It doesn't matter if you use the Systems View or the Project Explorer; the content is stored the same place/way on the server. When you save/commit in either tool the content is always stored in the HANA Repository.  The HANA Repository is just a set of database tables (_SYS_REPO schema).
    >Before activation and after?
You shouldn't really go picking around in the Repository database tables, but if you are curious before activation the content is stored in _SYS_REPO.INACTIVE_OBJECT and after activation in _SYS_REPO.ACTIVE_OBJECT.
    >Therefore that I cannot switch forth and back with versions of a View, correct?
If you use the project explorer you can just access the version management from the History tab and restore or compare from any previous versions:
    >When I follow your video, than I create first a package in the System, which will be updated in my repository view. Checkout, checkin, compare old vs. older version, etc. can only be done in the Repository View, correct?
You have to keep in mind that the Systems view was created before we really had a developer perspective in HANA Studio. It was design with Information Modeling (view creation) only in mind. Therefore in SPS05 when we added the developer perspective and many of the new development artifacts we introduced the repository and project explorer view.  When you create a package via either tool - they are the same thing. However if you want to then work with a project or any of the newer development artifacts you must check out the project from the repository view and edit the objects via the project explorer.
    >Is it also possible to check (resp. compare) if something in a folder structure was changed?
Changed by someone else after you checked it out? If so, you usually would just do another check out from the project.  Otherwise you will find any conflicts when you activate.
    >In SPS08 the project is automatically connected with the Team and I don't have to do anything further, like Share. Correct?
Correct.  We continue to make usability enhancements and the automatic sharing of a project during the project creation wizard is one of those.  We will continue with such enhancements in SPS09 - allowing the project creation wizard to also general some of the basic development artifacts (like xsapp and xsaccess) for you.  You might be interested to know that we have a new openSAP course for HANA development starting at the beginning of October and it is based upon SPS08 and will showcase these improved workflows.
    >For SPS08 is there an easier way to create the .xsaccess-file?
There is a new wizard that inserts a template content. It certainly shouldn't lock up your system to choose the wizard. Not sure why that would happen.  You can also use the HANA Application Lifecycle Management tools and its Application Creation Wizard to generate the initial development objects with template content. For the complete list of all available options, please refer to the developers' guide on help.sap.com.
    >Editor = at least two tabs, one with drop-down lists and one with text-files
Not within the Studio.  After you have created the XSACCESS File it can be 'configured' via the XS Admin web interface. Not all options of the xsaccess file can be set from the XS Admin tool yet, however. Today you can mainly configure the authentication options.
In SPS09 we will extend these options to also include the CORS and Headers configuration:
    >Does this mean, the files are automatically synced?
They are automatically committed upon any create or save operation.  Originally in SPS05 you had to always choose to commit via a context menu.  To improve the user experience we changed this to automatic. The manual commit menu option is still there (team->commit from the right mouse context menu). However it is really only needed if something goes wrong with the communication to the server or if you were developing offline and then want to force sync with the server at a later time.
    >Since in the connection no specifics reg. server, port is provided I wonder how the magic is done
No magic.  The XSJS code executes within the database.  There is nothing for it to connect to since by its very definition it is always running within the database. The XS server isn't a separate application server connecting via JDBC or ODBC.  The main point of XS is that it is a light weight application server fully embedded within the database.

  • [SOLVED] How to configure prosody and jitsi to work together?

    Hi,
I want to use prosody to connect several jitsi accounts on different computers on a LAN. I have followed the Prosody page in our wiki to set up Prosody and some user accounts. The service starts and ss -tul indicates that it is listening on the expected ports. I have created the missing key and certificate files expected by the default setup and placed them in /etc/prosody/certs.
I have created the account foo@localhost using prosodyctl adduser foo@localhost.
In jitsi I have created an XMPP account (foo@localhost) on the same host as prosody. The account appears but it fails to connect to the server. Jitsi displays error messages on the console which indicates that the server does not support TLS connections even though these are enabled in the prosody configuration file (and lua51-sec is installed).
I have tried numerous variations of disabling encryption in both prosody and jitsi but I either get the same error message or jitsi simply hangs while trying to connect to the server.
So far the only thing that I've been able to find that deals specifically with prosody and jitsi is an episode of the Linux Action Show from last year that skimps on the details of the setup. The various online documentation that I've found seems to be for an older version or Prosody (e.g. Host entries in the configuration file).
Does anyone have a similar setup working with the latest versions of Prosody and Jitsi? If so, please share your configurations.
    edit
I went through the Prosody wiki page again today and managed to get it working. I think my problem was in misconfigured paths for the SSL server certificates in the VirtualHost section.

  • How can I delete diagnostics and usage data from my Ipod 4.1?

In settings, General, About there is Diagnostics and Usage. I went in there to find many logs, Low Battery, Low Memory logs and Stacks which I don't even know what they are.  Is there a way to delete this?  Should I ever save any?  Are they important?  I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you in advance for any quick fix on this matter, if there is ever one lol.

Thy are not really useful for the errors you mentioned. Those are common and expected.

I have checked replication with repadmin /showrepl and all connections were successful. The dcdiag /test:kccEvent test on all servers passed.

  • Front end Backend Modeling Configuration Reporting and Extraction.

    Hi..All
Can Any one plz explain the terms "Front end","Back end" related to Modeling,Configuration,Reporting and Extraction.
    Thanks & Regards
    Jonn
    <u>[email protected]</u>

    Hi,
Frontend is the reporting aspect, i.e Workbooks, queries, Web reporting, Crystal reports, etc.
Its called the frontend as that's what the users see and they don't see what goes on in the 'backend' i.e Config and Extraction, data manipulations, etc.
Modeling is used to design the cube, ODS, etc. Also modeling concepts can be used to design frontend queries as well.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • BOM explosion in sales order for configurable materials and variants

    Hi,
    I have these materials:
    A: configurable material (header)
    B: variant material (header)
    C: configurable material 1 (position)
    D: configurable material 2 (position)
    E:variant material 1 (position)
    F:variant material 2 (position)
I can in the sales order explode in this way the BOM (using SD01 application in the position type of the header material):
    1) A --> C+D
    2) B --> E+F
while I can't make the explosion in this way: A --> EF and A --> CE
is this possibile? I want to make an explosion of a BOM for a configurable material  and having variants material as sons, or having mix sons (one configurable and one variant)
    Thank you
    Sandra

    Hi Sandara,
Just check the BOM in cs03 u have maintained !!! If u have maintain the variant material there in the config mat BOM with object dependencies than u can explode !!!!
Please let me knwo if u any query and also if u elabore more than will help u out

  • UCSM 2.1 Local disk configuration policy and raid volumes

    Hi!
If i use Any configuration as local disk configuration policy and do the raid settings directly to the RAID-cards, am i able to have two raid volumes on C-series under UCSM management?
What i would like to do with C240M3 with 6 local disks: 2 disk raid1 and 4 disk raid0
    So i would use:
"Any Configuration—For a server configuration that carries forward the local disk configuration without any changes."
As UCS servers Raid guide indicates:
"Maximum of One RAID Volume and One RAID Controller in Integrated Rack-Mount Servers
A rack-mount server that has been integrated with Cisco UCS Manager can  have a maximum of one RAID volume irrespective of how many hard drives  are present on the server. "
Is this paragraph limitation of GUI not able to set several volumes or hard fact without "Any configuration" workaround?

I did some testing about this issue:
Changed Local Disk Configuration to "Any Configuration"
Two virtual disks can be created from Raid card's WebBIOS
These disks are visible to RedHat Installation.
UCSM shows Any configuration for the Storage Local Disk policy
Actual Disk Configuration has faulty information - WebBios is the only place to check the RAID status?
Next step: I'll do the same for the production

  • How to configure apache and weblogic in windows 2000

    i am novice,
i want to configure apache and weblogic in windows 2000
    weblogic version is 6.1
    apache version is 2.0
    how to do?

    George,
I would take the following 'first steps'
1)Install Apache20 on your Windows machine following the Apache online documentation
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/misc/tutorials.html
2)Make sure you can 'serve up' static HTML content from your Apache Server
3)Install Weblogic Server per our online documentation
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/index.html
4)Also, make sure you can 'serve up' both static and dynamic (e.g., JSP) content
    directly from WLS server
5)Once you have both of the above 'sanity' checks attempt to configure a simple
proxy by ppath or mime type via our online documentation

  • How do you know what the data usage was for and why?  It shows you date and usage but not the reason.

How can you see what data usage was for on the bill?  It only shows the date and usage but not the reason for the usage.

You can not see this info on VZW's site. There are apps for smartphones that will break down the info though, but by site or what was downloaded

Our setup is such that the SSO hostname is oraprda01.mpx.biz but the AD/KDC realm is AD.MULTIPLEX.BIZ. I found http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_as_10g/im/wna/wna.htm and we have more or less the same situation so it should work but it doesn't. I've already got this working in the test environment but the SSO hostname there is gfradev01.ad.multiplex.biz. Note that it has the same domain name as the AD realm.
Doing a kinit without using the keytab file works for HTTP/[email protected] but when I use the keytab file, I get the pre-authentication error.
Can anyone advice as to how we can make this work? Are there extra setups which need to be done on the AD server which Oracle did not document?
    Thank you very much,
    Abigail

    If urgent, contact Support.
Is the account option ‘Do not require kerberos preauthentication’ checked (see MicroSoft KB 832572)
