Configure 3905 on CME 8.5
Hello everyone,
I have to configure a Cisco SIP phone 3905 in CME ver 8.6. I haven't found a way to do this.
I tought about doing it with Fast Track (voice register global-type), but it is supported on CME 10 and above.
I was thinking about registering it like a 3rd party sip phone, but I don't know where to put the username and password on the phone. The Web Admin page of the 3905 only shows info.
Any idea how can I work this out?
Hi Bruno,
3905 is supported with CME 9.0 onwards, please upgrade to a supported CME version.

Hi all
I have cme 2921 router and 4-port FXO
possible the configure FAX in fxo port ?
I need purchase FXS card or ATM
my cme version 9.0
ThanksYou need an FXS card if you want to connect a fax machine to the router. FXO ports ae used to connect analog circuits from the provider* and some paging equipment.
*The very rare analog DNIS circuit actually requires an FXS card too. Again, very uncommon though.

I am working in lab environment using GNS3 router 2691 and X-lite SIP phone. Please share the proper configuration for the same.
I assume you have been setup GNS3 and want to register X-Lite with CME (not CUCM). If yes, please check the following;

4FXS-DID configuration problem using BRI to receive/send calls from/to PSTN
Hi to all.
Follow is the partial configuration of my CME.
It has a 4FXS card to use analog phones and faxes, and 4 ISDN Basic Rate interfaces.
On each port of the 4FXS DID card happens the following:
If I enable direct-inward-dial
I can receive calls from PSTN.
Off hooking the analog phone I cannot hear any free line tone. I cannot make any call from that phone.
If I disable direct-inward-dial
I cannot receive directly calls form PSTN.
Callers on PSTN after typing my number, they hear a free tone. Then just typing the extension desired the phone ring.
Off hooking the analog phone I hear a free line tone. I can make normal calls to everyone.
I have half the configuration working.
Where am I wrong?
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks to all.
Giorgio.

CME#Hi Paolo.
Sorry for the delay. I was on holiday.
I would like to keep separate incoming calls from outgoing calls.
So I decided to keep two dial peers for every BRI interface.
I followed your suggestion on eliminate commands:
"incoming called-number" on FXSs,
various "progress_ind" on BRIs
Also I eliminated "direct-inward-dial" on FXSs,
Today I reconfigured and right tested the dial peers as following:

I'm Having an issue determining how to setup my configs for a VoIP solutions here is what i have.
cisco 2811 with a 3550 switch, the company i work for uses a virtual PBX hosted by another company. i have to install the 2811 with the 3550 and 20 cisco 7960 phones. I have done all the DHCP pools, the trunking and vlans and intervlan's . but the main issue is trying to figure out how to setup the telephony service or do i not need to as the host PBX server has all the configs store on it and the original way was just plug and play in a sense with just a few modifications?
If more details are needed i can provide. That is something you would need to find out within your company, if you have an ISR, you would configure CME
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmeadm.html
You need to find out whether they bought that equipment to configure their own CME, or just to provide connectivity for that hosted PBX, and then ask assistance from them to find out what you need to configure for the phones to work with them.
I would assume they want their own, but that's just my assumption. -
How to use makefile utility in Solaris
Hi all,
I am new to Solaris platform, but have strong desire to play with Solaris.
I have downloaded many utility programs (source code version) for Solaris like LAN-Chat, UNRAR, Screensaver, etc
For example, I downloaded "xscreensaver-5.02.tar.gz" and unzipped to a folder.
I referred the readme.txt where i have been guided as follows to install.
1. ./configure
2. make
3. make install
But i get an error message in the second step while installing. Can i have a detailed explanation regarding[u] "How to Install" a software using the "MAKE" utitlity.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Parasou. With your instructions, i have updated the libevent's EVENT.H and compiled it.

NAT between IPIVR (or UCCX) and CUCM?
Hi,
i would like to know if NAT between IPIVR (or UCCX) and CUCM is allowed? (with ASA only or also router and switch).
I didn't find anything about it in UCCX SRND.
thanks
[IPIVR v8, CUCM v7.1(5).]Hello,
1) Yes, please use sip trunk as the interface between cme and cucm.
2) Please note: officially cme sip trunk video is only supported for cme1—sip trunk---cme2 type set up, but for basic call you could try to setup cucm to use early media on the sip trunk. cme by default would use early media and it should work.
3) For configuration guide on CME Video, you can refer http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmevideo.html#wp1027101
4) For interfacing CME with CUCM, please remember to configure below command on CME:
voice service voip
sip
asymmetric payload full
Hope this helps,

Data, voice, video & fax over the satellite link
Hi,
We have a requirement for Cisco voice to be implemented at our satellite teleport. This is basically to connect our teleport location HO to Barge (sea platform - rig) via the satellite. At the rig we would require data, voice, video & fax services. The satellite WAN BW is 256kbps. The Barge users will use four telephones, one fax & will do videoconferencing. They will communicate with teleport HO & use the PSTN for internationatal dialling using the HO voice gateway. There is no Cisco call manager in place. There is PBX (Brand-NEC, Model- NECX 2400) system at the HO.
Appreciate if somebody can recommend as to what would be the best way to provide voice, fax & video connectivity to the users in the barge.Thanks.
Rgds./
SackBuy Unified Communications Manager, SageCom XMediusFAX, and a Cisco ISR G2 router for the head office to provide PSTN calling and faxing support. Buy a second ISR G2 with Unified Communications license, the appropriate CME license count, and a ISM running CUE for voicemail. Configure UCM and CME to communicate using a SIP trunk and configure QoS on the satellite to prioritize the voice and signaling traffic. You will not get video calling across a link that small.

We have a CME 4.0 setup and getting ready to configure VLAN's for Voice and data. Our LAN gateway is ASA 5500 security appliance. Do we need a router behind the ASA appliance to do VLAN trunking?
or can the ASA appliance do VLAN trunk?
We use 4503 Chassis for Core and 3560 switches for other buildings.
We use 3845 Router with CME 4.0. Do we make this the LAN gateway and configure default GW on this router as the ASA appliance?
Thanks
ADHi,
You may configure the very CME Router as the InterVLAN Trunking device. If the phones are directly connected to the CME Router, nothing has to be done to the ASA configuration. Remember to configure the CME Router and the phones´ports in the switch as trunk ports.

Cisco Unified Communications Express
I have a brand new router, 3825 and licensing so no worries there. I also have some discs Cisco Unified Communications Express Products and Cisco Unified Contact Center Express/ IP IVR.
Question 1) I am trying to install CME (which I hear is now Unified Communications Express). Do one of these disc have it on it? I have checked the flash of the router and i see no cme. I have the Adv IP Services IOS.
Question 2) What is on those discs.Hello Adam,
the CME is a feature that comes integrated with you IOS software, and you just need to enable it in case that you would like to configure it and work with it.
Since you have the Adv IP services IOS you should be able to use this voce feature without any issue. In the follow documments you could find first the basic configuration for a CME and CUE and the second one is the admini guide in case that you would like to see some other features.

CME Extension Mobility, SIP configuration
Hi,
Need help with CME Extension Mobility with SIP Phones (7841). I'm using CME 10.5 and I configured the parameters below for extension mobility but the phones won't register right after I put the logout profile in the voice register pool.
They work normally when not in Extension Mobility though. Please help I need to deploy this to my customer soon.

After this the phones are still not registering, I'm suspecting it is the url authentication command, as i can't put the application-name and password after the command, any suggestions would be appreciated. THanks in advance.
-richardTry adding:
voice register global
url authentication http://192.168.1.254/CCMCIP/authenticate.asp secretname psswrd
if still doesn't work try to compare your config with the reference guide here:
