  • Can MOPZ be used without installing Diagnostic Agent.

    Hi,
    I need a clarification.
In Solution Manger 7.1 Version, can I use Maintenace Optimizer (MOPZ) to download SP's for a Managed System without prior installing Diagnostic Agent on the Managed System? If Yes, please write a brief procedure as below. (because my colleague was telling that one must install DA before using MOPZ).
In older Versions, to use MOPZ:
Send Managed System data with tcode RZ70 -------> The data will arrive in SLD of Solman -------> Assigning a Product and creating a Logical Component in SMSY -----> Assigning the Logical Component to a solution in DSWP --------> Now MOPZ can be used.
    Thank you,
    Mohan.

    Hi Mohan,
Not required any agent for MOPZ setup.
    Prerequisite:
*Initial, Basis and Managed system configuration setup( RFC creation, AISUSER assignment)
Open the MOPZ using 2 ways,
option 1. Using  LMDB system landscape
option 2. In solman_workcenter -> Change Management -> New Maintenance Transcation ( for new MOPZ)
    Prerequisite:
User ID is maintained in AISUSER
    Configured Technical System in SMSY.
Follow the below documnet for MOPZ step.
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-26893
Not required to create the solution as show in documnet , directly select the production version and start the MOPZ as show the document, remaining step are same.
Step by step how to Configure System for using MOPZ

  • 10g grid agent installation and configuration on oracle RAC

    Hi All,
I have one two node RAC setup on HP-UX itanium platform and I want to install oracle 10g grid agent on both the RAC nodes to monitor the RAC instances and databases and OMS repository server is ready and running. Only I have installed agents on both the nodes, but tns entry and hosts files on OMS server and both the nodes modified.
But, nodes are not getting automatically discovered by OMS server. And what is the command to configure the grid agent on RAC instances.
I have to install grid agent on both the nodes individually or it can be installed on single node and can be integrated with other node.
Please help me out in this regard.......
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sukanta Paul.

Similar problem and installation does not detect the rac nodes and installation is done locally which does not help the situation..By the way we all consult documentation and the whole point of having a forum is so we have a potential fix or work around and not link from here to documentation. Just to mention :)

Thx.Your customer thinks he doesn't need a management tool? He may very well not need Grid. Technically, you don't need dbcontrol either. But as much of a command-line bigot as I am, I'd hate to have to go back to scripting everything, and I see no sense in paying good money for a third-party tool to do the same thing I can do with dbcontrol for free. I'd say that as a professional, you owe it to your customer to question him and explain why this might not be "A Good Thing".

  • Oem db console vs grid agent overhead

Which of following has less cpu , i/o and memory impact on the db server?
    1.     Enabling OEM db console
    2.     Installing grid agent ( note grid repository and oms are installed on management server and not the db server).
I don’t want to put much load on the db server and a little bit concerned about extra cpu load which OEM may introduce.
    thanks

server details and port details are definetely correct, i put ABC in here due to name of box

Got it resolved. For those in the future that may bump into this make sure , even if your agent box has DNS ping to OMS server that it is still added to the /etc/hosts file . then it works

  • Installing Oracle Grid Agent on R12 E-Business suite

    All,
I have 10.2.0.3 OEM Grid Server installed and configured. This has been monitoring few of my standalone and dataguard production databases in which Oracle grid agents are installed and configured.
I have recently deployed R12 E-business suite with two application nodes and one database in a F5 load balancer environment. I am wanting to install and configure Oracle Grid agent on R12 EBS Application and Database nodes to monitor my R12 EBS by making use of existing Oracle Grid server.
Has anyone installed and configured Oracle grid agent on R12 Application and database nodes?
Any informantion/pointers that anyone can provide on the above would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Palani

Do you know the ports that need to be opened between Application Tier and Grid control server? Not sure what grid control version you are installing. However, if you choose to go with the default ports then see the documentation for the list of ports you need to open -- http://www.oracle.com/pls/em111/search?word=Ports&format=ranked&remark=quick_search

  • Install GC Agent on host with GC repository database.

    Hello,
I have a couple questions about setting up a Grid Control environment. We are doing a proof of concept for grid control. We currently have two linux servers, one for the repository database (11gR2), and one for the Grid Control/OMS(10gR5).
My question is can we install the GC Agent on the repository database server?
I would like to monitor the repository database server and the repository database itself, but is that possible?
I tried installing the agent on the repository db server and I thought it was a success, but when I run emctl agent status I get the following:
EM Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/phxoemdb.revenue.int_GRIDDB not found.
Should I use emca and configure the database? I'm worried it will mess with the Grid Control Repository tables.

Well, now that the post is active again, let me respond:
My question is can we install the GC Agent on the repository database server? There is already (or should be) a "Central Agent" on the OMS server. If the EM repository database is on a different server from the OMS, then you do need to install a regular agent.
I would like to monitor the repository database server and the repository database itself, but is that possible? This is definitely possible as long as there is an agent on the server, either the central agent or regular agent like on any other server.
I tried installing the agent on the repository db server and I thought it was a success, but when I run emctl agent status I get the following:If OMS is executing on the same server as the repository database, then there is already a central agent. Each component has it's own Oracle Home, maybe you are trying to execute the commands from a different home. You need to set the correct environment for each component when executing command related to that component.

  • Run Singlular Database Control and Grid Control Agents at the same time????

    Hello,
I have walked into a new job where one of my 1st tasks is installing and configuring EM Grid Control version 10.2.0.3. Most of the individual databases already have singular EM/Database Control also set up for basic monitoring - some are 10.2.0.1 databases; some are 9.2.0.7 databases.
Can I continue to run the existing singular EM Database Controls for monitoring and managing the databases while I am getting connected, the new agents up and running, and the Grid Control templates and alerts and notification fully set up?
Or will I have to shut down those agents fully prior to installing the new 10.2.0.3 agents???
I am hoping so since they use different communication ports of 1158 for the singular Database Controls versus 4889 for Enterprise Wide Grid Control.
Thanks for any help in clarifying this.
    KL

OK, so as long as I keep the homes separate & straight, I could conceivably allow them both (Database Control and Grid Control Agent) to run AND be used at the same time - even when using secured grid control (https), correct? Just have the separate homes for separate agents and use separate ports for the different consoles?
Of course I might still run into an issue with this, ass I am also in the process of securing Grid Control... The current Database Console used by the app users to monitor is NOT an https url...
The real reason for this is because some app users are used to using the EM Database Control for application monitoring. I would like to not take that away from them while I am in the process of setting up all of the users, roles, alerts, groups, etc. on Grid Control.

  • Do I have to install SharePoint Foundation 2013 via a script in order to name my content databases without the GUID references?

    Hi,
I want to install SharePoint Foundation 2013 on a standalone server with SQL Express but I want to be able to name the content databases without their GUID references. Will I have to use an install script (AutoSPInstaller perhaps?) to achieve this?
    Thanks.

You can't do a standalone install if you want the alias (also if you plan to move the databases in the future)
You'll need to create the alias before you create the farm with the Configuration wizard or PowerShell so you can specify the alias. Whether you create the alias before or after installing SQL Express doesn't matter as long as it points to the instance.

  • I can`t configure database target in GRID CONTROL

    hi
i have grid control 10.2.0.4 on linux red hat 5. the installation are correct and i discover the first node that have a oracle database.
But when i try to configure the database , not appear the configuration page and only give me a error
The metalink team say to me the problem is that the nslookup not working, and this not there is comunication between the oms and the agent
    its necessary a dns server??
how to make the configuration for nslookup working

    Hi Andrea.
Yes. Only it's necessary to add the full qualified name and IP adress in /etc/hosts and to check that the /etc/nsswitch.conf file resolve in the order file hosts .
It was the Metalink Team that saw to me : "it's necessary to working the nslookup correctly to work good the communication between the oms and the agent"
But its not true. Not its necessary.
    Thanks Andreas

I need some information if anyone has experience in the following
We have severel database running in DataGuard standby configuration.
I want to install OMS 11.1 and use the repository in a primary and standby configuration.
My configuration will look like this:
    host 1     Primary Repository database
         OMS service 1
    host 2     Standby Repository database
         OMS service 2
During normal operation i want to have 2 OMS services running.
Whenever a failover is necessary, i want to active my standby database and run OMS service 2.
Can this be a working configuration?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi.
As far as I know, the dbconsole installed with the Oracle database applies for only one database on one server. The information accessed by the dbconsole relies within the sysman schema inside the actual database. For a database environment with 10 databases, it is possible to install grid control and manage all these databases despite version and OS. And I think that grid is a good solution to such an environment.
The grid installation itself is a application server installation, and I suggest if possible that you separate the rdbms server and the server that contains the grid control.
The repository database the grid control uses can either be installed in the 10g environment or in the grid control environment (server). You can place the repository in a new database in a separate ORACLE_HOME from the actual grid control application server.
    Good luck.

  • Installing Grid Control and its agents in RAC

    Hi
I have a RAC of 2 nodes in 10.2.0.5 . I need to install Grid Control in another server to manage the RAC.
    I have several questions....
The agent and grid control to be install has to be in 10.2.0.5 as well ? or must be higher...
I have to install the agent in all nodes of the RAC ? and after the grid control in another server ?
    Thanks

    WAIT...
I was thinking same that Grid Installer will create the databasse or you can use the one if exists..
but when I was reading a similar thread.. The Grid control installer has inside an Oracle Server ?
someone mentioned that Grid Installer will not create repository database.
It is better if you refer the document before make any further comments.
