Configure Acrobat 7 Pro in Vista

This should be simple but I can't find the instructions.
I just purchased a new PC with Vista and loaded Acrobat 7 Professional.
Now, how do I configure the printer and distiller so I can create pdf's?
Many thanks.

A few folks have apparently gotten AA7 to work on VISTA, but as mentioned it is not a supported configuration. The biggest problem is likely the AcroTray application. If you have succeeded to complete the install, try to print to file using the Adobe PDF printer. If that works, open Distiller and see if you can create a PDF. If you get a complete PDF, then go back and look for AcroTray as a running application task. If it is running, try to print without the print to file selected and see if AcroTray does it's thing. You need to look at the process in steps and you might find a process that workes for you.

  • Using an Osprey 100 card with Acrobat Connect Pro and Vista

Intrigued by a comment I saw on another forum, I tried setting each of the EXE files associated with an Osprey 100 card install in Vista to run in compatability mode for XP SP2, and my Osprey card analog inputs started working (at LAST!!) with Acrobat Connect Pro in Vista. This lets me attach VCRs/DVDs or any device with analog outputs to Acrobat Connect Pro without having to buy a new generation of Osprey or other Vista compatible analog capture cards.
    Perhaps this will help someone.

I believe I figured it was somewhere between Flash 5 and Flash 6. I say this because while the resulting presentations could be opened in QuickTime (which only uses Flash 5) a better result would be achieved by viewing in the browser. Either that, or QuickTime's Flash 5 support isn't complete.

  • Acrobat XI PRO and Vista

Is there a patch to allow Acrobat XI Pro to operate with Windows Vista? I dowloaded the trial version to check compatability (because it is not listed as an OS on specs.) and the program frequently stops working.  I am redacting very sensitive files and do not want to work on the cloud.

No,  the Tech Specs (read Minimum System Requirements) do not include Windows Vista.  While they may add newer OS requirements in later updates, historically I have never seen them include older OS versions after shipping a product with an update.

Should I change the settings? Will it harm my computer? Shouldn't the software be compatible with Windows Vista Ultimate?

  • No Acrobat 9 Pro in Creative Suite 4 - Education version

Bought the CS4 box (education version). When I started the installation, the setup menu mentioned all programs indicated on the box. But Acrobat 9 Pro was not actually listed, it just mentioned that Acrobat Pro would overwrite any existing version but well, the option could not be SELECTED or DESELECTED. Then when it was all finished, I found no Acrobat 9 Pro in Vista Start Menu. And now if I run the setup again, as if I wanted to add or remove programs, there is not the slightest mention of Acrobat Pro in the list .... Tried to install an old evaluation version and give my box key number but ... this was refused ! could Adobe have "forgotten" to include Acrobat 9 Pro on the 4 CD's contained in the box ??????? Strange .. .Help ...Thanks Lydia

Which version of the suite did you purchase? Acrobat Pro is not included with every version.

I don't have any idea if the installer would mention it in a bundle that didn't include it.

  • Word 7 to acrobat 9 pro

Using word 7 with acrobat 9 pro on vista.  Converting word to pfd I run into problems.  On 3 pages of an 18 page document the top line of one page is on the bottom of the previous page.  ie, the top line of page 3 is on the bottom of page 2.  Doc is fine in word - reset all preferences can't figure it out and can't make the correction in acrobat.
    Thanks.

Usually this default is set in WORD 2007 to not use printer metrics -- looks like you may have gotten it turned on. In any case, open the print menu in WORD and select the Adobe PDF printer. Then back out to the document editing and go through your document and fix it. Then print and you should be fine. Most word processors reflow documents based on the printer that is attached. That is one of the reasons FORMs in WORD are a real pain -- folks typically have a different printer than the author. If you set the printer and then edit, the document should look identical to the WORD document. The use of printer metrics is buried in the options in WORD 2007 and is normal unchecked by default (it was checked in previous versions).

  • Automatically watermark all PDFs with Acrobat 9 Pro

Is it possible to configure Acrobat 9 Pro so that all PDFs incorporate a predetermined watermark?

    Thanks very much for responding.
I mean that what I'd like is that every time I create a PDF from a document or web page, it will automatically have my watermark inserted.
I'm a real rookie and do not know how to create a script or a batch process?

  • Acrobat X Pro advertised as compatible w Windows Vista Business

I just purchased Acrobat X Pro and it was advertised as compatible with Windows Vista Business.  I tired to install it and kept getting an error telling me my system was insufficient to run Acrobat X Pro.  I checked the specs again, I icheck the computer configuration and everythin was within spec.  i called tech support and they told me that I had to upgrade to Windows 7.  Now that I have acquired a serial number I am told I can not return Acrobat X Pro so I am stuck with a product I can't use and looking at another $200 to upgrade to Windows 7.  I am very unhappy.  I have been a Adobe used for many years including previous versions of Acrobat Pro I am a user of Creative Suite and Photoshop also.  Adobe used to be a great company with great products.  Now it looks like I'm SOL if there is no solution to this issue!

I strongly disagree with what you were apparently told. Folks have been running AAX on XP since it came out and VISTA is a step above that. There are three things to consider when you do the install: 1. Log in as an administrator; 2. Empty the TMP folder; and 3. disable anti-virus. If you continue to have problems, please try to capture the error (screen capture) and post that here.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Broken In Vista

I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on Vista 32-bit, but it can't even do simple PDF printing from something like Word or IE without getting "Access Denied." I have UAC-enabled and do NOT plan to disable it anytime soon. The Adobe PDF printer is installed in the Printers section and Acrotray is running...

I was reading that I might have to give Windows/TEMP folder full-rights for the PDF conversion to work. I did that, but it is still a no go. I also tried to run Distiller 9.0 standalone (right-click Run As Administrator) once to see if it can create the temp folders itself, but no-go... How are other people running Acrobat 9 on Vista without problems?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows Vista Ultimate will not load/update

Costing me hours of my billable time, ADOBE strikes again. i have uninstalled, updated(9.4.2 - which says Acrobat is not on my computer, though it is), i cannot get Acrobat to work. it gives me the error that i need to open Photoshop because it is part of a suite. photoshop, illustrator all have been opened but A9 will still not load.
    any thoughts.

The subscription I bought allows me to go online and use Acrobat XI Pro without having it installed on my machine. It works okay, but I'd rather have the software installed on my desktop.
I guess I didn't read the product information closely enough.  I can use the online service no problem with my Vista machine, but I can't download the software onto it so that I can use the program on my desktop.
I did successfully download the software to a Windows 7 notebook on the same network.  It downloaded without a hitch and it works fine.
The subscription allows me two downloads - one to a desktop and one to a portable machine.  I suppose I'll have to upgrade my desktop to Windows 7 or 8.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro crashes w/Vista

vista keeps closing Acrobat 9 pro because of DEP - Data Execution Prevention as per below. anyone run across this? Cannot find squat on DEP compatibility on Adobe site anywhere. TX, Jim
"Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.
"DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.
First, see if a DEP-compatible version of the program is available by visiting the software publisher's website. If the publisher has not released an updated, DEP-compatible version of the program, you can turn off DEP for the program that was closed. You will be able to use the program, but it might be vulnerable to an attack that could spread to your other programs and files.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows Vista 32 bit

Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows Vista 32 bit consistently dies after about 10 seconds, with no error messages or other indication of what went wrong.

You have an activation issue. When you launch the program it is going out to check on activation. This is failing and so the program closes. The solution to your issue most likely lies in the TechNote below:

Ignore solution #1 as you are using Acrobat 9. Start with solution #2. Good Luck!

  • Vista - Acrobat 9 Pro - Keeps Shutting Down

    Hi,
I am running Windows Vista and have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Ever since I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro it will open the PDF, and it will stay open for approximately 10 seconds and then it will stop working and say "Adobe Acrobat 9.1 has stopped working".
If this has already been addressed, please link me, thanks!

I suggest you try repairing Acrobat 9 and try to open the PDF. If that does not work, I suggest you uninstall it. I also recommend you update it to the latest maintenance after you get this part working.
If you have Acrobat Reader installed on the same machine, you should remove it using the Windows Install Clean Up utility.
    Good Luck!
