Configure airport time capsule for roadrunner

I cannot set up airport time capsule for roadrunner.
I need the  DHCP client ID, and brighthouse was no help.

No.. the TC cannot be partitioned.. and it is very poor for file storage.
What films do you mean?? For streaming movies.. you can do it but it is subject to some issues.
See standard response.
Store files on the TC.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/24380694#24380694
This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
Major issues.
1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.
Read pondini for some work arounds.

I have just got an Apple Airport time capsule to back up my one year old iMac......how do I do it? I have tried putting an ethernet cable into the time capsule and to my sky hub, all I get is a flashing amber light, can anyone help I am a silver surfer not used to Apple products, but love them, plus I don't understand half of the jargon....HELP please

Apple's Setup Guide for the Time Capsule is pretty simple and clear for most users, and you don't indicate at what point or step that you are getting stuck.
So, please go to page 8 in your Setup Guide to review the topic of Plugging In Your AirPort Time Capsule.
The Sky hub will likely have 4 Ethernet <--> ports on the back of the device. Pick any one that you want and connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the port that you choose.
Then, connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN (circle of dots) port as shown in the Setup Guide.
Continuing with the instructions on page 8 of the Setup Guide, power up the Time Capsule by connecting the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule to a wall AC jack.
Note that the instructions indicate that the indicator light will be solid amber during startup, and it will change to blinking amber during the setup. The light will remain blinking amber until you have configured the Time Capsule at which time the light will turn green.
Next, go to page 12 of the Setup Guide to see the information to Use your Mac or iOS device to set up your AirPort Time Capsule.
You indicated in your tag line that you were using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), and since that will exceed the minimum requirement of a Mac using OS X (10.7.5) as noted in the guide, you can use your Mac to set up the Time Capsule.
Continuing with the instructions on page 12 of the Setup Guide......
    1. Open AirPort Utility on your Mac.  It is located as follows:  Finder (the smiley face on the dock) > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    2. Select your AirPort Time Capsule and click Continue. You won't be able to do this, but read further......If you do not see the AirPort Time Capsule that you want to configure, choose it from the WiFi status menu in the menu bar, at the top of the screen.
So, clicking on the WiFi icon will yield a small window that looks like this:
The example below shows an AirPort Extreme.  You will see Time Capsule on your screen. Click on Time Capsule.
When you click on Time Capsule, that will get the setup wizard going. it will take a minute to analyze the network, then display a screen that looks similar to the illustration below, except that you will see a picture of a Time Capsule on your screen
    3. Continuing with the Setup Guide.......Follow the onscreen prompts to create a new network
Network Name...........Type in a simple name that you want to call your network. Do not use the suggested name.
Base Station Name....Type in a simple name that you want to call the Time Capsule.  Mine is TC, for example.
Password...................Type in a password that will be used for both the network and the Time Capsule.  Write that down.
Verify..........................Type in the password again to Verify
    Click Next
The setup wizard will configure everything for you. When you see the message of Setup  Complete, click Done.
The Time Capsule is now set up and it will display a green light.

  • How to configure Airport Time Capsule with IP Camera?

I have recently switched from a DLINK Router (DIR-655) to the latest 3TB Airport Time Capsule. The ATC works great, super fast etc...
    However...
I had an IP Camera (Trendnet TV-IP572-WI) connected to my DLINK Router, using a Dynamic DNS account (dyndns) to access if from outside my home (i.e. from the Internet). The configuration on the DLINK was quite straightforward. (Virtual Server)
Question: How to do the same with Airport Time Capsule ?  I had a look at the detailed settings menu in the Airport Configuration Utility. but cannot find anything like this (Virtual Server, Port Forwarding etc...)
Many thanks for your help !

What is the make and model number of your "modem"?
Most modems these days are actually modem/routers or gateway devices....which would require that the port forwarding be done on the "modem"....not on the Time Capsule.
If you did not see any settings for DHCP Reservations and Port Settings when you looked around in AirPort Utility, this indicates that the Time Capsule is likely configured to operate in Bridge Mode.......and it is your "modem" that is actually the router for the network.
Open up AirPort Utility again, click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the window
Check the setting for Router Mode.......which is likely set to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
    Is it?

  • I want to download software for airport time capsule for windows

please informe me how to install time machine application for windows 8.1 OS?

Time Machine is an application that will only run on a Mac.
If you might be asking about AirPort Utility, which is used to setup and configure a Time Capsule, we need to know which version of the Time Capsule that you have.
Please check on the bottom of the Time Capsule to locate the model number.

  • Setting up Airport Time Capsule for the first time

Following directions, when open the Airport Utility, there is no continue button to proceed...
Where is the continue button to move on to create a new wireless network?

    Sometimes the utility has issues..
It is easier IMHO to do it manually.
See here for manual setup of the TC.
Airport Utility shows "unexpected error - please try again" when connecting to Time Capsule
    Repeated pretty much here.
Airtport Utility can't find Airport Time Capsule on either of my 2009 Macs
Tell me where you run into trouble if it still happens.

  • Have the following iMac at home and am contemplating adding a MacBook Air and a 2TB Airport Time Capsule for backup/storage and increased WiFi speeds.  My question is this (1) a compatible setup, and (2) will my older iMac slow down the WiFi speeds?   Man

Have an older iMac and am contemplating adding a new MacBook Air and a 2TB Airport Time Capsule to increase WiFi speeds. My question is (a) is this a compatable setup and (b) will the older iMac slow the WiFi speeds?
    Thanks

Be careful about mixing Time Machine backups and other data on the TC's disk.  That will cause conflicts, sooner or later.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for an explanation and some possible workarounds.

  • Can I hook up a windows computer to my airport time capsule for internet access?

We have hooked up our time capsule for the first time today.  It works wonderful on our apple products BUT can I connect a windows based computer to it for internet access?

Yes. Both Ethernet and 802.11 are cross-platform.

  • Is the AirPort Time Capsule only for backing up Macs or can I back up additional files from SD cards too as if it were an external hard drive?

I'm a professional photographer and I'm interested in the most recent features of the AirPort Time Capsule. I process a lot of data and much of it never hits my Mac hard drive. Currently I back up to external hard drives, but is it possible to back up files from SD cards mounted on my desktop on to the AirPort Time Capsule for instant access in the future as if the drive were an external hard drive (in addition to being a back up server)?
    I appreciate input!

If your question is whether Time Machine can back up the data on the SD drives, the answer would be no.
The reason for this is that SD drives are formatted in Windows FAT16, which is not compatible with Time Machine, the backup application included with Macs.

  • Using airport time capsule to create an internet connected network from pre existing wifi network

i bought an airport time capsule for college. I bought it to create a network for my dorm room so that I could take the pre existing wifi from the school and make my own mini network that I can hook my other stuff up to. Problem is that I don't have an ethernet hook up in my room so the network would have to be created from a wifi network rather that a ethernet hook up. Is this still possible? Alternate suggestions? I am afraid of either the college network blocking users from communication with other devices via the wifi, or the fact that my printer would be on a huge network for all to screw with.

    Is this still possible?
NO, it won't work. Apple only works with apple.
    Alternate suggestions?
I am sure your college has rules about not running your own wifi networks.. but anyway.. that is up to you.. the Apple TC cannot turn off 2.4ghz which would be handy.. so the only way to do this following the rules is ethernet. You can run a full network standalone on ethernet. And still use wireless for internet.
If you want to use wireless standalone this is also possible but you need to connect a second wifi USB dongle your Mac so you can have two networks at once.. You can use an express to connect to the college wireless and bridge that to the TC by ethernet.. then use the TC to create your own network.. since you cannot turn off 2.4ghz I guess how long the College IT people take to track you down should be hours. If you could just use 5ghz it would probably be ok.

  • OS X 10.8.5 - Unable to backup to AirPort Time Capsule

I have just updated to OS X 10.8.5 on a 2006 Macbook Pro - and now I cannot perform a backup on my AirPort Time Capsule.
It asks me to confirm the AirPort Time Capsule that I wish to backup to - but this does not seem to be working and I cannot currently perform the backup.
Immediately after this failure - I was able to successfully back up another iMac to this very same AirPort Time Capsule:
    - so the AirPort Time Capsure appears to functioning normally.
The iMac is still running on OS X 10.5.4 - and has not been updated to 10.8.5
Is there a problem with  backing up to the AirPort Time Capsule using the new OS X 10.8.5 ?

I should also add that I have previously been successfully backing up from the Macbook Pro onto the AirPort Time Capsule for many years without problem.
It is only just now that I cannot backup after having updated to OS X 10.8.5

  • WiFi Printer not being found on AirPort Time Capsule

Hi, I have an older HP Officejet 6500 that works fine via WiFi.  I recently bought an Airport Time Capsule for Time Machine backups and a better wireless router (version is 7.7.3).
Suddenly, my WiFi HP printer, which is connected to the Airport Wireless Router, can't be found by any of my macs, iPhones, or iPads.  I had no problem printing from any of these devices when the printer was connected to my previous wireless router.
I've searched and searched this evening for help and can't find any solutions.  I've tried resetting, checking for firmware upgrades, unplugging the printer and router.  No luck so far.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Desperate in Texas!!!

I suggest deleting your existing printer from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, and adding it again. Better yet is to "reset the printing system" as described here: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
After you do that you will need to add the printer again according to the instructions here:
OS X Yosemite: Add or remove a printer

  • Airport Time Capsule slows down internet speed while uploading app

    Hi All,
Internet speed is going down drastically when I am submitting any iOS app to iTunes Connect.
Previously it was not like this.
I have updated my Macbook Pro to Mavericks and using Airport Time Capsule for wi-fi connection.
Is anyone facing this problem? Any help on this will be very much helpful.

I have almost the exact setup as you, and airtunes never slows down my internet connection.
Has it just happened recently? Have you done a reset on the TC? Make sure you are using the g network, and not in the b only mode.
You can also make sure everything on the network are getting good signal. You can check the signal strength from Airport Utility (in the logs and Stats pane).

  • I need to configure my Time Capsule with a Ruckus wireless...

Hi people, i need your help to solve this problem...
I need to configure my time capsule for first time with one Ruckus wireless...
If you can...could you please give me the solution?
    Thank you all!

Time Capsule is designed for ethernet connection.. it is not really good without it.
There is a single option to join wireless network.. hidden and unused as it should be..
On a windows version you will have to hold down the alt key i think when you click the options for wireless mode.. it will then offer join a wireless network.
It is super slow.. and subject to easy corruption of files.. it will turn off all wireless AP and routing and ethernet functions.. good luck!!

  • HT1178 Setting Up new AirPort Time Capsule

im setting up airport time capsule for the first time and its asking me to "Provide the PPPoE connection information from your ISP" Im not sure what to do? Where do i get this information?

PPPoE connection information consists of your user name....likely your email address....and password for your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
If you do not know this, then you will need to contact your ISP for the required information.

  • Will my MacBook Pro '11 support the software needed for my new AirPort Time Capsule?

I've got a MacBook Pro '11, OS X 10.6.8 and am trying to back up my photo library to a new AirPort Time Capsule 2TB.
When trying to set it up in AirPort Utility, I am getting the warning "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this AirPort wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Check www.apple.com/support/airport for the latest version of AirPort Utility."
    1. Where do I go to get the latest version of AirPort Utility?
    2.  Will the latest version work with OS X 10.6.8?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes. The latest version will be installed when you upgrade to Yosemite.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
