Configure an environment for apps for SharePoint (SharePoint 2013)

I am trying to follow the instructions in the article, "Configure an environment for apps for SharePoint (SharePoint 2013)". I have purchased an additional domain for the apps. However, in step 2 it says to create a CNAME from that domain to my
sharepoint domain.
Which site do I point the CNAME to? I have 2 host-named site collections for my application.

Since you say there are no dumb questions here goes:
I think my web server is IIS. If that is the case, I have 2 sites in IIS, the "Default" which is the WHS2011 remote login page and "SharePoint-80" which is the name of my SharePoint application. There is nothing in IIS that
has My internal server name.domain.XXX. There is a domain name that came with WHS2011 of XXX.homeserver.com (the "Default" site). I purchased a domain for my SharePoint site collections. Again, neither of these uses my internal server name so
I know I am missing something here.
Thanks

  • Development environment for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
We have requirement for one of the project. Team size would be approximately 30 resources. Development would be entirely for SharePoint 2013 Intranet solution. this will be OOTB Intranet application. We will be developing InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows.
For such requirement we would like to setup local development environment by using either Virtual Machines.
Can anyone help me to identify that how many VM's would be required for the same? How many simultaneous users can use and work at a time? What other things I need to consider for infrastructure? How can i suggest the best possible solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set up the environment for SharePoint Development.
Here is a detailed article about configuring development environment:
Setting up a SharePoint 2013 Development Environment
For VM count, it depends on your project development requirements, for VM license and management ,if you are using Hyper-V, I suggest you can create posts in Hyper-V forum:

The error messages suggested to me that the issue was being caused by our proxy server. I have removed the proxy server from the equation by removing the proxy settings.
I then also tried to navigate to the url in the error messages. When i navigate to https://srv22.domain.com:9355/WorkflowDefaultNamespace/$STS/Windows/ i get a 400 Bad Request. When i change the address to https://srv22.domain.com:9355/WorkflowDefaultNamespace/$sts/Windows/
($sts in Lower Case rather than Upper Case) i get a response from the Workflow server.
I have searched high and low for a solution to this, and cannot find one, can anybody shed any light on the situation.
    Thanks in advance

  • Configure an Environment for Apps for SharePoint 2013

    hH,
We are building QA environment for Sharepoint 2013. For this my management asked me to configure the APPS store. But when i referred the MSDN article, they are suggesting
" You must purchase a domain name from a domain name provider for your apps, for example, ContosoApps.com."
Which is not possible in my case as purchasing a new domain requires lot of approvals also this is an QA environment.
So please suggest on the below points
    1) whats wrong to build a sub domain like APPS.XXXX.COM instead of XXXXAPPS.COM
    2) since it is in a QA environment, is it necessary to have a SSL  ??
    3) is it need to have a different APPS stores for QA & PROD environments.
    Thanks,
    Praveen
    Sharepoint HELP

    Hi Praveen,
you don't need to buy a domain use your internal DNS
no need for SSL since it is QA
i think you mean app catalog, each environment will be having it app catalog

  • Configuring apps in sharepoint 2013 onpremises

    Hi,
we have a lab environment for sharepoint 2013 with
    1) Domain controller (domain : test.local)
    2) SharePoint server { SQL Server 2012 (full install), SharePoint 2013 (full install)}
Now we would like to configure sharepoint 2013 apps in our environment. In the TechNet blogs and articles ,it says to create a unique domain for the sharepoint apps ... does this mean,we have to create one more domain (one more server)  or just add
a domain in the DNS and perform the configuration ?
Below is the point from the TechNet article :
When choosing your App domain for each farm, you have 2 options:
1.Create a new unique domain to host your SharePoint-hosted Apps in, or
    2.Create a sub-domain of the existing domain.
The recommendation is to create a new unique domain such as contosoapps.com rather than a sub-domain such as apps.contoso.com.
If you could help me out with steps for configuring the same .. that would be helpful .

    Hi Suren,
it does not mean you need to create one more server, you just add a domain forward lookup.
Yes, the recommendation is create a unique domain which internally gets forwared to your domain.
You need to configure forward lookup zone for your apps (here in this example contosoapps.com), in layman terms it is just an alias for your existing domains.
I think you are refering to this URL -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236.aspx
and if you have already followed those steps mentioned in Configure the domain names in DNS (all hosting options)
and go to " To create a wildcard Alias (CNAME) record for the new domain name"
    and do ping Apps-12345678ABCDEF.yourdomain.com
to see whether you get reply from above ping.
The steps that are given in the above link is easy to perform, do let me know where you got stuck.
    Hope this helps!

I have load balanced servers dedicated for Office Web Apps with name “md1xxxwfe1” and “md1xxxwfe2”

    Hi  Ram ,
For  troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
Just about any load balancing solution will work, including a server that runs the Web Server (IIS) role running Application Request Routing (ARR):Install
    Application Request Routing
Install the certificate on the load balancer as described under Securing Office Web Apps Server communications by using
    HTTPS.
Make sure you have configured the cluster correctly for full internet name:

  • Windows Updates for SharePoint 2013 Environment

    Hi
I created a visual machine for SharePoint 2013 development by following steps mentioned below.
    --Install Winows Server 2008 R2
    --SQL Server 2008 R2
    --SP2 for SQL Server 2008 R2
    --SP1 for Winows Server 2008 R2
    --Sharepoint 2013 Pre-Requisites
    --Sharepoint 2013 Setup
    --Sharepoint 2013 Designer
--Installed March and August 2013 Cumulative Updates for SharePoint 2013
    --Installed SP1 for SharePoint 2013
I want to ask do i need to install Windows Updates after installing different updates as i mentioned above because everty now and then windows updates message keep pops up and i did'nt install windows updates yet.
Why is it necessary or what impact window updates would have on my environment if i need to do it??

Windows Updates cover security updates as well as stability improvements, and so on. You're simply patching SharePoint and SQL in the above case.
It should be noted that any SharePoint patches that come down through Windows Update need to be manually handled as you'll need to run the Config Wizard (e.g. MS14-022 and MS14-050 which are SharePoint updates).
When you're installing SharePoint 2013, you only need to install SP1 if that is your target. There is no requirement to install March 2013 or August 2013.

  • Create Task with C# - App for SharePoint 2013

    Hi everyone,
I need to create an app that can manage holiday for my company and we want to sync the demand Holiday with their tasks in Project Server 2013.
Unfortunatly, I cannot find how to add a task with an "App for SharePoint 2013" and in C#.
I've tried to add the task by entering an entry in the Project Server database but unfortunatly, it does not work.
Are there an other way to create task programmatically in Project Server 2013 ?
    Thanks by advance,

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to use resource files in your SharePoint app project.

  • Workflow is not visible for a list in an app in SharePoint 2013

    Hello All,
I have created an app in SharePoint 2013 and added a basic workflow in this app.
Though the solution gets deployed successfully, workflow is not visible in list --> Workflow Settings.
Has anyone faced this kind of issue in SP 2013 App ? Please provide your inputs to resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Supratim,
I would suggest you that you try to analyze the workflow log and see where the workitem goes exactly.
See if the workflow goes into error or if the workflow gets routed to the wrong agent.
Also let us know how the agent determination is being done?
Is it been done using rule or is it static agent assignment?

  • Reverse Proxy for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
I need to setup SharePoint 2013 environment which needs to be accessible from mobile devices e.g. iPAD/Android, for reverse proxy, I am looking at apache or IIS ARR since UAG is going to be deprecated. So far any one setup apache (on
    RHEL 6.x)
or IIS ARR(on W2K8R2) successfully as reverse proxy for SharePoint 2013 access? Is there any issue? and which SharePoint authentication method should be configured?
Must is be Form based authentication? As I read some articles it seems ARR supports Windows authentication. Thanks in advance.

IIS ARR doesn't authenticate users, it is a pass-through (unlike UAG which can do auth or anon). Both IIS AAR and the new Web Proxy Role in Server 2012 R2 do not work with SharePoint 2013 Apps.

  • Getting error while publishing workflow using SP designer for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
I am try to setup Workflow manager for our sharepoint applications.
WF manager set ran without any issue.
I registered the SPWorkflow service which succeeded as well. The Workflow service application shows "Workflow is connected"
I am creating a workflow using sharepoint designer using my credential (not Service account). I am able to save it but while publishing, its prompting with an error.
The error says "Errors were found while compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot run." Clicking advanced button show
"Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: We're sorry, we weren't able to complete the operation, please try again in a few minutes. If you see this message repeatedly, contact your administrator.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPScaleOutDatabaseMap.CreateSqlSession(ISPScaleOutDatabaseMapProvider mapProvider, Byte[] compositeKey, Guid forceRefreshVersion, Guid& version)
       at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPScaleOutDatabaseCommandExecutor.Execute(ExecuteDelegate operation, ISPScaleOutDatabaseMapProvider mapProvide"
Any help would be highly appreciated
    Thanks,

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got error while publishing workflow using SharePoint designer for SharePoint 2013.
Please check whether the Central Admin > Manage Service Application-> “App Management Service” is started.
Please check whether the “Configure service application associations”,  ”App Management Service” is already associated.
Then please check whether the “Manage Services on server” and the “App Management Service” is started.
In addition, please try to re-register Workflow Service.
If the issues still exists, please follow the steps in the
Steps to Verify that Server Is Correctly Set Up. After you verified that the server is correctly set up, follow the steps in the
