Configure an excepcion for a host in an IPS4260

Hi guys!!
I need your help to know if it's possible to configure an excepcion for a specific host or ip address in an IPS 4260, I can do this in an AIP-SSM configuring an access-list, but I think it's different on an appliance.
Regards

Hi Luis,
An exception on IPS is called an event action filter, I was looking for a config example but instead I found this nice youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho945eUSwbo
If you have a host that is firing a lot of false positives just select it as "attacker" and leave the signature range blank if you dont want to see any signature at all coming from this guy.
I hope this helps.

    Hi,

  • Configure DNS on Snow Leopard Server for Web Hosting

    Hi Everyone,
I put together an article on my blog about Snow Leopard DNS setup for web hosting. http://www.mkahn.com/?p=279
I'll be revising it over the next few weeks to make it more informative based around feedback. Let me know if you have any questions or trouble setting up DNS on Snow Leopard Server for web hosting.

Thanks for your replies. I realize I'm not making clear the way this network is configured . Also, the only services running on the Snow Leopard server are (at this time):
    dhcpd - in the 10.136.31.x range;
    dns - same as before;
    planned to add are:
    Open Directory (for network logins)
    Software update;
    Web (only on the 10.136.31.x Ethernet);
    mySQL (localhost only - for moodle);
NAT is not set up on the Snow Leopard server itself. We have an outside router, a Cisco 2811. This router provides routing for both the public IP range, and the NAT range is configured in this router. The forwarding dns is located in LR and Fayetteville. So what I need is dns on Snow Leopard to forward outside queries to the state DNS servers, and resolve the local NAT IP only for Open Directory and a set of Snow Leopard clients.
Is this going to be possible?

  • Configuring default web apps for virtual hosts

    Hi,
This posting is meant save time for anyone trying to specify a default web app
for each of their virtual hosts (as opposed to specifying a default web app for
each of their wl servers). This applies to weblogic 6.1, on NT. (I haven't tried
    this on other platforms).
If you are trying to use the admin console to do this, give up. It's not possible.
The "Virtual Host/Configuration" window lets you specify everything about that
vhost configuration EXCEPT a default web app. (The "Default Web Application" drop
down menu will always have only one option to choose from: "none").
Instead, shutdown your server, and edit your domain's config.xml file manually.
Attached is an example config file that specifies that the web app "kz" should
be the default web app for the vhost "wl.kz.com", and that the web app "kahuna"
should be the default web app for the vhost "www.kahuna.com".

Is it possible to configure default web appls for virtual hosts

    do this.
    Thanks.

  • Configuring group policy for user profiles in Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain

Requesting some experts advise on configuring group policy for user profiles.
We will be building new Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers (Domain of 400 users).
The settings which I am concerned:
    1. Folder Redirection: Desktop, Documents, Favorites.
    2. Quota for Folder Redirection - 1 GB per user.
    3. Map a networked drive - 1 GB per user.
    4. Roaming profile - (Will ignore if it does not suit our requirement).
The question is how outlook profile will be retained / automatically moved if the users move from once computer to other?
FYI, E-mails hosted on MS Office365 and OST file size of few users more than 25GB. So, in case the user moves from one computer to other, the entire mailbox will be downloaded via internet. This consumes high bandwidth if more than 3-4 users shift per day.
Thanks a lot for your valuable time and efforts.

    Hi,
    >>The question is how outlook profile will be retained / automatically moved if the users move from once computer to other?
This depends on where our outlook data files are stored. If these data files are stored under
drive:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local, then these files can’t be redirected, for folder redirection can’t redirect appdata local or locallow.
However, regarding your question, we can refer to the following thread to find the solution.
Roam outlook profiles without roaming profiles

  • All of a sudden - Looking for PPPoE Host

Setup: I am connecting to the internet via Airport Express, through an ISP provided modem. I am using PPPoE as the protocol for connecting to my ISP.
Problem: The setup was working perfectly for me, when all of a sudden 5 days back, I got the ticker message on my taskbar "Looking for PPPoE host". I went through all the configurations using the airport admin and assistant utility. However, if I connect to the ISP provided modem through the ethernet cable using PPPoE, everything works perfectly. I have been tinkering with this for the past four days, and I have no clue as to what is wrong. For some unknown reason, the airport express base station cannot connect to the ISP (all of a sudden). Please help.

    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi,
I just got a brand new loaner Airport Express from a Friend. It came with the new Firmware and I used it on my ADSL Connection. (Modem to AE).
Then, one morning, I wake up and connnect my PowerBook to the system. It works fine. I leave for office, return with my Office laptop and install the Airpot Stuff on that too, to connect. Anyway long story short. All works well.
Now morning arrives again, and nothing working at all. I keep getting the "Looking for PPPoE " message and I know it got nothing to do with my new laptop as I have directly plugged my PB to the modem and it dials/connect without a porblem.
I checked the setting in the AE panel and thats fine too. I don;t know whats wrong or what to do. I've temporarely switched back to my NetGear Router until I can find out whats wrong with the AE.
Can you tell me how it's been for you? Were you able to solve the problem?

  • Strange info in "Bypass Proxy Settings for These Hosts and Domains"

For my Mac Mini my Network IP Address always has a self-assigned 169.254 number that I cannot change. Strangely, this same IP number is similar to info that is in the Proxies section (of Network Settings) under "Bypass Proxy Settings for These Hosts and Domains".
No matter what I do, this info (*,local, 169.254/16) appears in my Network Settings in the Proxies section under "Bypass Proxy Settings for These Hosts and Domains". (I tried removing the info and it would cause the "Configure Proxies" selection to default to "Always Use PAC File". Had to go back and retrash all the plist files to have Proxies go back to "Configure Proxies-Manually". Still, the info (*,local, 169.254/16) continues to appear in the "Bypass Proxy Settings for These Hosts and Domains" section and my IP address is always a 169.254 number.)
Comcast cable modem via direct hardwired Ethernet works fine with my other computer, so not the modem. Also, other computer does not have any info in the "Bypass Proxy Settings for These Hosts and Domains" section.
Installed a fresh copy of OS X 11.5 on a new hard drive. Still the same problem.
I posted this issue before but only got one responder and the problem still exists. Any clues? Somebody must know about this stuff. Help please.
    Thanks

When your Mac wakes up, it does not yet have an IP Addresss. It wants to send a request to a Router for an apprpriste IP address to use now. But it needs to have an IP address (like a return address) to receive any messages. So, ... wait for it,
... it (your Mac) makes one up. There are rules that ensure it is a random address, but they always start with 169.254. It is on the same subnet with any low-order 16 bits This is the "self-assigned" range of IP Addresses. This address is only good for talking on a local network segment, for things like asking for a valid IP Address from a DHCP-enabled Router.
In most cases, on most networks, the 169.254 self-assigned IP Address is replaced by a valid Local IP Address such as 192.168.xxx yyy or 10.0.xxx.yyy so quickly that you never even see the 169.254 Address.
If you do see the 169.254 Address, it can be read as "Nobody will talk to me" or "Nobody will give me an IP Address". When you have this IP Address for more than an instant, you should suspect bad cables for Ethernet connections, bad signal strength or interference for wireless, Router configuration problems, or Mac configuration problems.
Mac configuration problems are often solved by using the "Assist Me" button is System Preferences > Network  and choosing to set up again.
Another diagnostic is to try using Network Utility and the Ping function, and Ping-ing the address of your Airport base Station, often 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 or similar. This will tell you if the Router is reachable, or there are cabling/wirelss signal problems.
In this case, proxies are not an issue, and are simply a distraction from the real problems.

  • Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?

Can I open a port range in the firewall for one host?  In other words, I want to be able to open ports 54001 to 54050 to allow one remote host in my LAN to access that port range in my Mac Server.  Is this possible?  Currently, the only option I see is to open individual ports for all external hosts (eg http or https)
    Thanks in advance!

Which version of OS X Server are you using?
Server 2.2 and earlier includes an interface to a software firewall that can be configured to open specific ports very easily. Descriptions of how to configure the firewall can be found in the documentation for these versions.
Server 3.x no longer has an interface to the software firewall - it is still there, but you need to use other methods do configure it.  A popular example of such a method is the icefloor utility.
Apple suggest that for Server 3 you delegate firewall duties to an external router.  Server 3 includes the ability to configure the firewall component of Apple Airport routers 'automatically'
if you connect a machine running Server 3 directly to an Airport Router the router appears in the LH pane in the Server.app window (usually second line, below the entry for the server itself), and you can control what services are 'enabled' through the firewall there.
a more common solution perhaps is to use a non-apple router, and configure the firewall (and so open specific ports) through whatever control interface is provided for that router.  There are many many kinds of hardware router you could use, and the control interfaces used vary widely - so you will have to consulting the documentation for your own router to work out how to do this.
If you post information about your software versions, and hardware configuration, it is possible that you can get more specific help with the tasks involved in opening the ports.
    Hope this helps.

  • Technical Monitoring for Logical host name

    Dear experts,
We are in mid of technical monitoring finalisation.
one of the interesting thing which i found with respect to the logical host name, we installed SMD agent on Virtual host name and our system is not with HA environment and no clustering. It is just a system with single instance.
During the managed system configuration all the physical and logical host name reported by SMD autodiscovery, all went fine. But in Technical monitoring shows only virtual host name with the updated alerts , and logical host name only shows grey alert.
    virtual host shows alert here
    logical host name shows grey
how can i get alert displayed for logical host name too? do i need to do some settings at the OS level , could you guide us?
    Thanks

    Hi Giri Raju Ayyagari,
I am sorry, seems you are still not able to get my issue, moreover you get diverting my issue
Here the problem is not at all related to agents on fly. thats the separate topic.
We are having issue on Logical Host names where there is no HA environment, means only One logical host name created.
I raised to SAP, l will update once the update from SAP given.

  • Configure an environment for apps for SharePoint (SharePoint 2013)

I am trying to follow the instructions in the article, "Configure an environment for apps for SharePoint (SharePoint 2013)". I have purchased an additional domain for the apps. However, in step 2 it says to create a CNAME from that domain to my
    sharepoint domain.
Which site do I point the CNAME to? I have 2 host-named site collections for my application.

Since you say there are no dumb questions here goes:
I think my web server is IIS. If that is the case, I have 2 sites in IIS, the "Default" which is the WHS2011 remote login page and "SharePoint-80" which is the name of my SharePoint application. There is nothing in IIS that
has My internal server name.domain.XXX. There is a domain name that came with WHS2011 of XXX.homeserver.com (the "Default" site). I purchased a domain for my SharePoint site collections. Again, neither of these uses my internal server name so
I know I am missing something here.
    Thanks

  • Failed to get IP address for Local Host (2) , OPMNCTL: opmn start failed

    HI,
Hi, I have installed on Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux V.2.1 . I was able to start OEM without any issues. Recently I had changed the static IP address and I couldn't able to start OPMNCTL and getting the following error while starting opmnctl start. error message is as follows.
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
my current configuration in /etc/hosts file is as follows.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
After going through some of threads available in Oracle, I have added the static IP address in the /etc/hosts but still I am getting the same error.
my new hosts file is as follows.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
    10.21.253.102 localhost.localdomain servername
I don't know why this is looking for localhost (2). I did not set up any local host (2) and I could not see anything in my network confiuration also.
could you please help me in this issue? I appreciate your help in this regard.

Hi, i think that the application server part is looking for a /etc/hosts entry
    in this format:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
As i noticed, this is used for internal communication.

  • Configuring RFC connections for load balancing.

    Hi ,
We have the following landscape for our systems.
The database is installed on z/os , db2 (mainframe). The central services( SCS and ASCS) are also on the mainframe. So the message server is on mainframe.
The CI is on AIX and The DI is on AIX.
We have Logon groups configured and load balancing Configured and is RFC enabled.
    1) When we connect to SAP using the SAPGUI and  the portal connection is made to either CI or DI depending upon the best response times.  Now recently we are running the mercury load testing, all the users are connecting to DI. Why are the users connecting to DI even though we have load balancing?
    2) I have a system with SID BP0, with one CI and one DI. The logon group is BP0 and the message server name is cyrix. Now I have other another system EP0. I have created a RFC connection from EP0 to BP0. In SM59 I have selected the load balancing option, and provide the message server name, SID and logon group name. The connection does not work. If I connect directly to the CI or DI the connection works. Please tell me how can I configure load balancing for RFC connections.
    Thanks
    Manmath.

    Dear 917996,
There are two types of load balancing:
    - Client-side load balancing (setting up the tnsnames.ora on client side). More information here (http://ggsig.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/client-side-
load-balancing-in-oracle.html). Very good video produced my friend Igor Melnikov is here (http://www.dsvolk.ru/oracle/racdd4d/demos/video/loadbalance/client/clientloadbalance_viewlet_swf.html)
-Server-side load balancing (remote_listener and setting service parameter clb_goal). Very good Igor Melnikov's video is here (http://www.dsvolk.ru/oracle/racdd4d/demos/video/loadbalance/server/serverloadbalance_viewlet_swf.html).
I have read about client side and server side load balancing. By editing tnsnames.ora I have enabled client side load balancing which is suppose to select listeners at random. then why does it only go to second node?Could you please show your tnsnames.ora on client?
Please can anyone help me to configure server side load balancing with SCAN. I have read many many post but couldn't find a clear answer.Based on your output (remote_listener string cmbtrnrac-scan:1521) you have already configured the server side load balancing.
    SQL> show parameter listener
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    listener_networks string
    local_listener string (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(AD
    DRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.1
    7.67.214)(PORT=1521))))
remote_listener string cmbtrnrac-scan:1521How many SCANs do you use? Do you use DNS?

    Joe,
I presume you are trying to build Oracle BDB and not bsd as you have mentioned.
Yes, the error message you are getting is for not having the CC compiler in your system or the path isn't set. Check in the /usr/vac/bin directory if you have one in your system. You might find both xlc and cc compiler there. Set this directory to your path so that 'configure' can see it.
