Configure Columns dialog box

hello,
in dashboard design 2011, you can open this box from the general view on the list view component, by clicking the configure columns button. i'm not sure that i understand the purpose of this dialog box. it looks like you can rearrnge the columns by clicking on the arrows in the second column, but they are not enabled. i looked in the pdf documentation, but i did not see anything for this dialog box. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

hi roy,
i didn't necessarily want to change the column width. when i wrote that, i was thinking out loud" as they say.
i'm just trying to figure out the purpose of the Configure Columns dialog box, which wasn't in the version of xcelsius 2008 that i used maybe a year ago.
i didn't see any documentation indicating that this is a new feature to dashboard design 2011.
when you open this dialog box, what functionality is available to you?
when i tried to use the dialog box, i didn't see any feature that worked.
thank you

  • No Configure Profiler dialog box

If this is the wrong venue for this question, I apologize in
    advance.
Just upgraded from Flex Builder Standard to Pro.
    Tried to use the profiler.
I press the 'Profile' button, the application starts, but I
never see the 'Configure the Profiler Agent' box.
I verified with the "Manage Flex Builder Licenses" window
that I am on the Pro version now.
    What have I done wrong?
    Thanks...

I get the same problem. Did you manage to fix it?
I try to use the profiler but I don't even see the "Configure
the Profiler Agent"-box. Like you, I just updated from FB 3
Standard to FB 3 Professional. Like you, I verified with the
    "Manage Flex Builder Licences"-window.
    What I have done furthermore:
    - I just deinstalled FB 3 and reinstalled it, but this time I
installed from the professional DVD only. No success.
    - I created a mm.cfg file as recommended. This file didn't
    exist. No success.
    - I checked for existence of the AdvancedDataGrid component
to ensure that I'm using the professional edition. This component
is available, but profiling is not.
    - I checked for the current Flex Framework: this one is
version 3.2 SDK. The current flash players are FP 10 Debug Player
    (for IE AND FF/Safari/Opera).
    - I stopped ESET NOD 32 and any firewalls (FritzBox and
Windows). Except for feeling queasy at the moment, there isn't any
    progress.
    Anyone any ideas?

  • Configuring a subVI to have a configuration window/dialog box

I am attempting to write my own slope/y-intercept calibration subVI for a program I'm building into an executable to be used on another machine.  The program is a generic DAQ program and I want the user to have some control over the calibration of the incoming signals.
    My questions are these:
how can I configure the subVI to have a boolean input that when asserted will open that particular subVI's Front Panel.  I would also like to have a "Close" or "Cancel" button that closes that front panel once the user has changed those values.
am I using the Configuration Data sub vis properly?  It seems pretty obvious.  I would like there to be a "config.cfg" file created/openned/written to in the base folder of my final executable.  Can multiple instances of this subvi use the same file?  I assume so, because there are "section" inputs for the writting and reading Configuation Data subVIs
    Inputs:
    (bool) Open Front Panel
(string) Instance Label (wired to the "section" inputs for the writting and reading configuration data subvis).
    (dbl) Input (x)
    Output:
    (dbl) output (y)
    Thank you for your help.
    -Nic

Your problems isn't really with the config VIs but rather your VI's architecture. It sounds like you want this VI to be used as a subVI that simply gives you "output" when you set a "display" boolean input to False. If the boolean input is set to True then the subVI should display itself allowing the user to click the buttons. Well, your subVI's architecture needs to change. You need to have a case structure that will run only if the "display" is True. The code to execute in this case should be a simple event structure. See attached example as a suggested alternative.

  • Configure Formula dialog not being displayed

I have just installed LabVIEW and I am working thru the tutorials in the Getting Started Manual.  I am at the point where I am adding a Formula to the Generate and Display example VI.  When I place the Formula Express VI on the block diagram I expect to see the Configure Formula dialog box.  No such dialog is displayed.  There is a grey box with no other information placed on the block diagram.  Also, the run buton is shown as 'broken" such that I cannot 'Run" the VI.  I do not have a clue what could be going on here and I am wondering if there was a problem during installation that leaves me without Formula support.  I have not had any problems with placing and configuring any other VI's.
Please offer any thoughts or suggestions on how to solve this!
    Thanks,

  • Sort-by-type for column view in open/save dialog boxes?

    Hello all,
I've done a fairly good search both on Google and in these forums and can't seem to find this question addressed. When I go to open or save something (in Preview, for example) I prefer to use Column View in the dialog box, since it is easy to see and navigate the folder structure. However, Column View always shows up sorted by name, even if I specified in Finder that the folder be sorted by type. Because of this, I have to scroll down and hunt for subfolders rather than having them conveniently listed at the top.
My question is this: is there a way to get Column View to sort by type in the open/save dialog boxes? (The Command+J that works in regular Finder does nothing in these dialog boxes.)
    Thanks!

No. Column view will only sort by name. If you wanted to put a space before each folder name, then they will sort to the top. Sorting by Kind will put folders above files, but it will also put anything else except files at the top. If there are only folders, however, that would put them first in the sort list.

  • How do I get my columns in finder and open/save dialog boxes to stay at the widths I set?

The name column is very very wide when I try to open a file.. so I can't sort by the other columns without dragging over the bar at the bottom of the screen.  THis is so so frustrating.  I resize but it doesn't stick to the next session.
It is almost as frustrating as the thumbnails being too small in the open dialog box so that I can't see the file I want to open.
Apple invented the finder.  Why is it so inferior to windows explorer?

In the function pallette both input and output subpallettes have instrument assistant express vi.But, when I put in the block diagram window Instr I/O assistant configuration dialog box doesnot appear.I double clicked instr assistant icon but it did not work. Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello phylab,
The Instrument I/O Assistant (IIOA) is used for easily communicating with GPIB instruments in Labview. For Labview version 7.1, the IIOA is available on the shipping reference driver CD. It should be automatically
installed when you're prompted to enter the driver CD, through setup.exe. Is this your first time using it or has it worked in the past? Do you also have the NI-VISA and NI-488.2 drivers? And you installed the LabVIEW cd before the driver cd, correct? The fix should be to uninstall and reinstall IIOA from the device driver CD.

  • What are the advantages of utilizing a dynamic VI compared to utilizing the VI Call Configuration Dialog Box Reload for each call option?

Is it more efficient to use a dynamic VI or utilize the VI Call Configuration Dialog Box which apparently can perform the same function? I realize that there are restrictions on using the VI Call Configuration Dialog Box, however, if my scenario doesn't concern the restrictions, why would I want to go thru the trouble of creating a dynamic VI when I could simply click on the VI of interest and configure from a menu? Are there performance advantages? Thanks in advance!

Generally, I wouldn't recommend playing with the call setup dialog at all (for those who don't know it, you can get to it by right clicking a subVI in the BD). By default, VIs are configured to load with callers and that's the correct options for almost all static VIs. The Open VI Reference primitive has multiple advantages:
It allows you to select different VIs dynamically.
It allows you to spawn multiple copies of reentrant VIs.
It allows you to perform asynch runs (although I think that this is something that should actually be available through the call setup dialog).
It allows you to open references to VIs in other application instances.
In the rare cases where you do want the same functionality that the call setup dialog gives you, it doesn't hide it.
Try to take over the world!

  • Open / save dialog boxes - customizing column widths

When i open or save a doc in any of the CS5 apps, for mac, in column view, the left hand column where my projects are listed is too narrow. i see 9-10 characters. can the default width be changed so that this column will always be wider when i open those dialog boxes?

What version of Mac OS X are you running? I just did a test in InDesign CS 5.5 running on Lion (Mac OS X 10.7.3). In Lion, the open dialog window is "sticky". When you drag the column widths in column view, they continue to open that way when you open them again.

In general use a property node with nothing attached to it in LabVIEW with the property Printing >> Default Printer or Printing >> Avalaible Printers to return the printers configured with Windows. One of these string items can be wired into the printer input of the report generation Print Report VI to select a printer.
In regards to the Microsoft Common Dialog 6.0 ActiveX controls, the printer selection from the dialog seems to be determined by the hDC output, which stands for hardware device context. If you modify the demo posted above to send in the appropriate flag value, either an informational or a direct hardware device context handle is returned in the ICommon property hDC. Input the flag value 512 to the ICommonDialog property Flags to return an hardware device context handle from the hDC property, or 1024 to return an informational device context.
More information about how to extract any meaningful information from this I32 number can doubtlessly be found at msdn.com, but I'm not sure personally how to do it. Specifically, here are a few posts to start your search at:

Alternatively, consider avoiding the Common Dialog Control calling a dll that will directly return the selected printer name from a dialog:

  • How do I configure my custom step type to call its Express VI configuration dialog box each time I double click the step?

By double clicking on a step in the TestStand Sequence Editor the Properties dialog box pops up.
    How to change this behaviour?
I would like to configure my step type so that each time I double click the step, the Express VI configuration dialog box pops up, instead of the properties.
One Idea is to use custom activeX substeps, for example, Antonio Lie mentioned the substep "OnNewStep" in my last post. Is there also a "OnDoubleClick"?
Does anyone know a list of activeX substep that can be used? Or are there other ideas?
    Thanks a lot!!!
    - Caribe -

    Caribe,
     1. Currently it is not possible to change the behavior for double clicking on a step. It is a good idea though, and we will be consider to add it to the next versions of TestStand.
     2. "OnNewStep" is the only "special" substep. It was implemented for internal use and it is not documented yet.
     3. If you want to know more about substeps you can red the Reference Manual, Chapter 13 is a good place to start.
     4. I want to make clear that "OnNewStep" is called every time you insert a new step. The sequnce editor gets the substeps list and if it finds the "OnNewStep" substep in the   list It calls it using the API. The substep can use any adapter type, It does not have to be the ActiveX adapter.
    Hope it helps.

Upgrade to Acrobat Pro XI on Window 8.1 downloads, installs and configures. Then pressing the launch button in the dialog box doesn't launch program.

Using the start button, Acrobat Pro should appear. But it might not, being Windows 8. Maybe it puts an icon on your desktop, maybe not.
How about checking c:\program files (X86)\adobe\acrobat 11.0\acrobat. If you have this folder, look for Acrobat.exe.

  • Wpg_docload not producing a file save dialog box

    Hi Everyone,
I have a BLOB column in a database table and I want to show a link on a web page so when user click on it, it pops up a file download dialog box giving the user option to either open or "save as".
I am using wpg_docload.download file but it seems to be load the blob data into the browser (inline)
    Here is the code:
       -- get image size
        intimgsize := dbms_lob.getlength(page_b_contents);
        -- print the header
        owa_util.mime_header('Content-Type:application/vnd.ms-word;charset=utf-8', false);
        htp.p('Content-length: ' || intimgsize);
        htp.p('Content-Disposition:attachment filename="test.doc"');
        owa_util.http_header_close;
        -- download BLOB
        wpg_docload.download_file(page_b_contents);
Any thoughts what might be wrong?
    Thanks

How must wpg_docload.download_file hack across the network, and into the client o/s process executable running the browser, and then force that browser process to pop up a dialog box to save contents as a file?
Do you understand the concept behind Mime types? The browser has specific actions (some configurable) for specific Mime types. PL/SQL can specify the Mime type. And provide a well formatted Mime header. It cannot however force the browser to act in a specific way when it receives that Mime stream from PL/SQL.
See Office 2007 File Format MIME Types for HTTP Content Streaming - VSOfficeDeveloper: Known Problems, Bugs, and Fixes - Si… for basic header details.
