Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener
Configure Enterprise Manager with multiple Listener
I have created 2 listeners and connected my database with both the listeners. If I stop one listener then it automatically uses second listener vice versa. But facing problem in case of enterprise manager. If i stop first listener which is on 1521 port it is not connecting to another listener which is on 1522 port.
any help ?
Your potential problem is Enterprise Manager simply doesn't KNOW about that second listener. You can easily verify that when you look at the monitored targets.
Enterprise Manager also reconstructs automagically it's own tnsnames.ora! So, it doesn't connect to second -completely redundant and useless - listener, because the tnsnames.ora entry on the Management Sever is incorrect.
Simply because you didn't made sure OEM could discover the second -completely redundant and useless- listener.
I notice you apparently don't want to read documentation. Yet the only way to work successfully with Oracle, and to become independent, is to read that documention.
Apart from that you should be able to find agentca.bat on your OS with one command, so, yes, I pointed you to the documentation, yes, you can find agentca.bat.

How to configure Enterprise Manager both node (2 node) RAC?
Hi,
I have installed oracle 11g r2 rac with asm in two nodes. OS is hp-Unix.
I have installed oracle11g Active Data Guard using Single alone Database.
Both RAc and Active Data Guard works fine.
I have not configure Data Guard Broker.
I have configure Enterprise Manager during RAC database installation.
When I start Enterprise Manager from node1 its address to node1
but when I start Enterprise Manager from node2 it also addressed to node1.
When both node is up and running, I can connect from Enterprise Manager.
When node2 is down but node1 is up then also I can connect from Enterprise Manager
but when node1 is down and node2 is up I can't connect from Enterprise Manager.
Question: How to configure Enterprise Manager so that I can connect through it whenever any single node is running?
Thanks

Want Deinstall Enterprise manager with all configuration
I need to have steps of deinstalling Enterprise manager dbconsole with all its configuration because i have earlier deinstalled it and installing it by the help of Universal installer but the configuration is the same old one.
Actually during restoration of my database in Test db, i do not have folder required for Enterprise manager, so i copy the folder from other database, and change different parameters in different files.
So i want to find out the way that if Oracle 10g is restored by RMAN back up , then how do we install the Enterprise manager again.
Whenever i try to drop em repositroy it is hangingI am trying to reconfigure EM CONTROL BY using DBCA but it is still retrieving database information and following is the result of top command on dbca session .
Why it is still stuck in retrieveing database info for more than one hour.

Enterprise Manager with IPC Protocol
Anybody knows How can I configure the IPC key values in Enterprise Manager 9i to work with a local database?
I would appreciate any help.Your potential problem is Enterprise Manager simply doesn't KNOW about that second listener.

Starting up Enterprise Manager for multiple DBs are the same time
I have a machine with 3 Databases configured, named A, B, and C when I execute "emctl start dbconsole" it only starts for database A which is on port 5500, how do I get emctl to start a listener for all 3 databases that are configured and running?, looking at the emoms.properties, A is on port 5500 and works, B is on port 5501 and C is on port 5502. I do no t care about A as it is an old DB, but B and C are currently in use, however while I can connect to them, I can not get the enterprise manager to start for them. This is all very poorly documented.
Thanks,
ERICTrouble Shooting
Go to DB2HOME/network/admin/tnsname.ora
Check sid
suppose sid set abc
Go to DB2HOME/bin
set ORACLE_HOME=<DB2HOME>
set ORACLE_SID=abc
emctl start listener if it throw error (then check any
anti virus software is running on your box if running then stop , issue again lsnrctl start )
emctl start dbconsole
Follow same steps for DB3

Enterprise Manager 10g DBControl - Listener doesn't appear on home page
I have a testing system, running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, Service Pack 2 with an Oracle DB 10g v10.2.0.3.0 installed. A few days before today I found out that I don't have the link with the listener on the Enterprise Manager DBControl home page. I'm attaching a print screen with the image I have on the home page.
[http://img249.imageshack.us/my.php?image=listener20090126de7.jpg]
I didn't observe if this problem got from the initial installation, but I think it didn't, as this was a clean system and everything should have worked fine. Yet, since the initial installation the system got into some changes regarding the Operating System and I refer to the name of the server by joining a domain and got added the suffix of the domain. The listener works fine, I can connect from any workstation and do whatever I want, but the link with the listener doesn't appear from anyplace I try to connect and do something.
Please help me if you know any solution regarding this.
Thank you.Hello and sorry for being late with an answer.
I solved the problem so now I can't try the last solution to see if it helps. The solution I chosed was to deconfigure the DBControl with EM and then reconfigure it back.
On one hand this helped solving the problem, but on the other hand all the settings made in EM got lost. There was no problem losing these settings as this was a test system. If it would have been a productive system having more settings in EM I don't think I'd choose the same solution I mentioned above.
I'll mark the question as answered but mentioning once again that I don't recommend this for a productive system.
Thank you all for the suggestions. -
Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
DECLARE
CURSOR c1 IS
SELECT owner, synonym_name name
FROM dba_synonyms
WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
BEGIN
FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
ELSE
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
END IF;
END LOOP;
END;
DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
After that i run
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?Hi ,
It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control. This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality). In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
Reference: Is it Possible to Configure Database Control for a Logical or Physical Standby Database? (Doc ID 315116.1)
You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively
