Configure "ESS in MSS" workset

Hi All
We have a requirement to configure ESS in MSS workset from where managers will have the ability to enter leave on behalf of employees in their area of the organization structure.
But I search every where not getting right information
Can any one help me how to do ..
Here is my system info :-
My ECC version is 6.0
Portal-7.0
SAP_ESS/MSS -600 SP18
BP_ERP5ESS 1.0 SP18
BP_ERP5MSS 1.0 SP18

Ok. Here are the answers:
1. Basic steps for Portal Configuration
   > Download ESS/MSS Business Package, it has two parts Business Package for ERP 2005 (Contains iviews, Roles etc) and XSS 5.0 or 6.0 depending upon the version of the ECC.
> Make sure that you have SAP_HR and EA_HR component installed on your ECC box.
> Also make sure that there is no compatibility mismatch between version of SAP_HR, EA_HR and XSS.
> Configure the JCo Destinations, create required system definition and establish SSO between ECC and Portal.
> Assign the role to the users
> After doing these steps you can see the SAP provided iviews etc working PROVIDED configuration on HR side are already done. (This is just to get initial configuration work)
2. I need some docs for configuring ESS and MSS...

If they are Ok with the basic things then fine else they need to specify the kind of customisation they want in this component
Options available if we need to modify the components
>>Copy the component in your namespace and do the modification using NWDINWDS

Transport process for configured ESS/MSS business packages to QA system

Hello Gurus!!
We have configured ESS and MSS business packages on NW 2004s portal DEV system. Everything is working fine now. Could anyone please explain me the process of transporting the configured business package content to the QA System. I know the general transport procedure for transporting content from one system to another system.
But wanted to make sure what it is like for transporting the business packages, for which lot of backend configurations have been done.
Any help in this regard will greatly be appreciated with valuable SDN points.

ESS in MSS

Hi All,
We are having problem with team viewer iView from ESS in MSS workset and want to display 'book training courses' iview for all or individual employees.When team viewer selected and getting following error like" No objects found" either from ALL Employees or Directly reporting employees. Has anyone got similar problems and want to know how they resolved this.
Any help is greatly appreciated because of project urgency.

ERROR IN ESS AND MSS pages when deleting the superadmin role

hi all
According to my clent requirement i have worked with uwl for leave request.....for that i configured uwl and added uwl iview to the standard user role......after i have assigned standard user role to my manager.
but' after some time they told me that they need attendance overview and Reminder of dates and subordinate information.
After backend configuration i have assigned Mss role to the Manager,
i have made the settings for mss role with overview workset
Again overview contain-workoverview page it contains 1) uwl pabge 2)Attendance Overview   3)reminder of dates
                                        Team- General information and so on
now my manager has following roles 1)ESS   2)MSS 3)Home (from the standard user role)   4) Home( by default i think from MSS role)     5) superadmin role
when ever i am removing the super admin role and standard user role for the manager   i am unable to see the Attendance overview page and Reminder of dates page and i am unable to see the pages in ESS also.

Has anyone created iViews for ESS in MSS based on the guide "Configuration Guide for ESS in MSS" that is available in service market place?? If so please help me. We are on EP6 SP14.

the configuration of ESS in MSS never was a good solution, because for running that scenario it was necessary to link ESS users to all pernr's. if not, ESS couldn't run, because the evaluation paths of HRORG couldn't run.

Configuration OADP for MSS

I have the following question.
What Implic have update the Relationship of the object OM en HR by a program ABAP when an employee is assign or dessign to a project different and with a Lider Project in the module of PS.
I question this, because the employees in the company are changing very much of projects and the user of Human Resource no want do those change in the submodul of OM in HCM.
I have two option:
1- Do an program abap that update the relationship in the object getting the information of the Project lider in the module of Project System (PS).
2. In the MSS in the configuration of the OADP, create a Module of function that read the Project Leader and get the employees that report a this Project Leader.
The question is ¿Which is the best practice for doing this?

haha My experience....VIRSA is a tool for "suggestions" not "absolutes". I am a technical consultant with functional knowledge as well. Therefore, I wear several hats at times....nothing that cause conflicts with SOX but just cross-discipline. Anyways, it has been my experience than in regards to ESS and MSS config, it is more technical than anything and thus, I tend to have to do it. The config for ESS/MSS from a business standpoint is little to none....ESS/MSS basically sits on top of what is configured in the true business areas of HR config.
Now, if "they" just don't get that and they want to pay you to sit over an analysts shoulder and instruct "click here, enter this, go there, do that"....then I'd say fine. You brought up the concern and they ultimately made the decision. Have fun!

Installing XSS (ESS and MSS) on EP 7 and ECC 5.0 (and ECC 6.0)

I need to install XSS (ESS and MSS) on EP 7.0 SP9 and ECC 5.0 and also on ECC 6.0.
I do NOT know what steps I need to perform (installations & configurations).
Could anyone please help me ?
Is the procedure different between ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0 ?

1) As I wrote in my second posting, I think I installed the EP 7.0 correctly for XSS and the BP ERP for ERP2005.
Where can I find what configurations I need to undertake and what patches I should install so the XSS and the BP will work correctly ? (that is besides getting error messages when using an XSS iView)
You need to install the foloowing Web Dynpro Components in ur J2EE server.

2) If the projects decides NOT to upgrade to ERP 2005 BUT to stay with ERP 2004, do I need to install the EP 7.0 ALL over AGAIN ?
If so, how do I install both the BP ERP 2004 and XSS on it in ONE installation (as I performed in for the BP ERP 2005) ?
If NOT, how do I uninstall the BP ERP and XSS of the ERP 2005 and install those for ERP 2004 ? OR does the BP ERP 2005 support ERP 2004 as well ?
The pre-requiste for BP ERP2005 is a backend ERP2005. So it will not function with backend ERP 2004.
You don't need to uninstall anything. Just download the Mysap ERP 2004 BP and do the necessary configuration to connect it to the BACKEND ERP 2004.This will solve the problem.

Is the ABAP Webdynpro CATS available in both ESS and MSS?

Hi experts,
We are in the process of implementing the WDA CATS application for ESS (ECC 6 EHP5) but our scenario is actually for managers to enter in time in CATS on behalf of their employees. I can't find any information on this scenario using the WDA CATS. I have linked the application to the related activities iView in MSS but it seems to be launching the CATS application for the manager instead of the employee.
The standard MSS role (1.5) seems to launch the Java CATS when doing it on behalf of an employee. I just want to find out if it's possible to use the WDA CATS application for on behalf scenarios as it used to be with the Java CATS?

how are you? here goes some background info on cats and ess/mss:
In ehp5 - ess there are 5 application configurations delivered by sap in wd-abap one of which is the approval view for managers its called hrmss_ac_cats_approval. the remaining 4 configs are for employees to enter cats data.
Now the point of issue is the 'ess in mss' or 'on behalf of' functionality....
MSS at ehp5 cats is still on wd-java I guess,... I am not 100% sure so what needs to be done holistically is:
1. Select one of the employee cats appication configurations.
2. include it into the mss-related activity space.
3. now this has a known issue: passing of the employee number from within wd-java to wd-abap application sap has a couple of notes for them --> 1577099 & 1578965 chk them out....
4. what those notes say is you can put in any wd-abap service into related activity space which is still wd-java,... and get the manager to book time on behalf of employees...
I have personally not done the above yet,... but I did some r&d last year on the above......
ahh before I forget you may want to chk out the note 1513325
finally to be able to call the employee cats service in related activities could mean you have to:
1. create an iview of type wd-abap caling the ess-cats wda service.
2. include it within the related activities wdj page...
3. have the aforementioned notes applied..
4. ready to go...

MSS Team Calendar and ESS in MSS

Hi OADP and MSS experts,
My client organization is implementing ESS (Basic personal information and leave request services) and MSS (leave approvals and team calendar). Partly the organization has a line manager (A012) relationship who would approve the leave request in MSS (which is fine using SAP standard). Other than line manager relationship, they also have Absence Coordinators who approve the leave request where there are no line manager relationship.
I would like to get your views on the following-
1. Is it possible to use standard OM relationship 'S' A/B 290 is administrator of 'O' for Absence Coordinators and configure OADP to get the views in the MSS team calendar.
2. also the absence coordinators - can they submit leave request (ESS in MSS - related activity for Leave request) on behalf of employees based on the above relationship (A/B 290) .Please note that they will not have chief position assignment
If this can be achieved by OADP configuration I would appreciate any help with configuration documentation.
Looking forward to get your opinions and suggestions please.

MSS Worksets & Roles

dear portal consultants
we are working on ECC 5 & EP 6. i have deployed all the business packages for ESS and MSS. While I could see the ESS roles in the PCD am unable to see neither the MSS roles nor the worksets like my staff, my budget, etc. i have searched the entire PCD and could not find any of the MSS components whereas in the JCO connections, it shows all the MSS components.
can anyone kindly help me in sorting out this issue.

The contents are under Line Manager folder in the content manager. If the content isn't there then the installation didn't go right.
If you see the contents, then assign yourself the MSS role and test it.

Employee Search
Configuration:
IMG Path:-
Personnel Management->Employee Self-Service->Service-Specific Settings->Address Book->Who's Who
1. Who's Who (ESS):
Selection and Output: In this node maintain country 40 (India) and you can maintain selection criteria for the search, output fields of the search result and detailed output of the search result.
If you delete any field from selection field list, that field will not be available for search. If you delete any field from Output field list, the same field will not be visible in the hit list. If you delete any field from output details, it will not be visible in the detail view of the employee.
2. Who's Who (ESS): Determine Document Type:
To display photo on ESS, determine the photo document type that is uploaded using archive link.
3. Who's Who (ESS): Maintain Settings:
Maintain options to display org chart, allow employee to maintain own photo etc
4. Who's Who (ESS): Refine Employee Search
For ESS, maintain group u201CESSu201D and Sem. Abbr. is the field that you want to restrict in the search result. It works as a filter. For eg: STAT2 = 3 gives results of active employees only. For any other field that you want to restrict maintain the field as Sem. Abbr and give the value which you want to filter.
Working Time

In this node, configure Leave request scenario.
Processing Processes
a. Create Rule Groups
There are 2 rule groups.
00000001: This is for all employees
00000005: This is for employee grades above F and G. This rule is for direct / self approval of leave
To decide which rule is to applied to the employee, maintain a feature WEBMO.
PERSG (Employee Group) is the decision field. If the value is u201CFu201D or u201CGu201D use rule group 5 else use rule group 1.
b. Define Processing Processes for Each Rule Group
Maintain entries as shown in the figure, for both rule groups.
C. Specify Processing Processes for Types of Leave
For each rule group, maintain all the leave types that you want to allow on ESS.
For eg: For rule 1, maintain Personal Sub grouping for time ( in this case 40 ), maintain all the leave / Attendance type ( like 0100, 0150, 0001 etc).
For employees, maintain all the leaves for rule group 1 and for self approval (for F and G) maintain all the leaves for rule group 5. When you maintain a leave, specify it needs an approval or not and if requires an approval maintain the workflow template to be used.
For direct approvals: Remove the workflow assigned.
Remove display field for next agent. This will not display approver in the ESS leave request.
d. Define Report Variants and Background Processing
To post approved requests, you have to create a background job which will execute program RPTARQPOST. This background job is responsible to post approved leaves in IT 2001. Create variants for program RPTARQPOST in PRD 436 client directly and create a background job in PRD.
2. Layout of the Web Application
a. Specify How Leave Is Displayed and Default Values
b. Specify Display of Absence Quotas
In this step you specify ES Grouping, PS grouping and Quota type for leave quota. Find out the combination from IT 2006
3. Business Add-Ins (BAdIs)
BAdI: Control Processing of Leave Requests
Implementation name: ZHRESS_CL_PT_ARQ_REQ
Methods: IF_EX_PT_ABS_REQ~SIMULATE_VIA_BLOP
