Configure FAX in cme

Hi all
I have cme 2921 router and 4-port FXO
possible the configure FAX in fxo port ?
I need purchase FXS card or ATM
my cme version 9.0
Thanks

You need an FXS card if you want to connect a fax machine to the router. FXO ports ae used to connect analog circuits from the provider* and some paging equipment.
*The very rare analog DNIS circuit actually requires an FXS card too. Again, very uncommon though.

    Hi Juan
Thanks for the information so far.
Actually IT team doesn't have any FAX server and now i need to do a kind of demo of the requirement.
Can we use FAX provider ,like i found some for MS Outlook to deliver FAX .If i provide the domain of the FAX service provider say RAPIDFAX etc will that work.
Suppose we procure a FAX server ,will it be able to send FAXes to US or India or Australia ,or we need to do some extra things for that.
Excuse me for lot of questions

    Hi,
I have ATA 186 connected to my network when i connect a phone it works but when I connected fax machine i cannot recieve or send faxes...do I need to do any configurations in ATA...please check the attachment..

you'll need dial peer(s), on your CME router, that enable FAX passthrough as well as a few other pieces.
please see the following link for Config/Troubleshooting ATA-186 with FAX:

  • Configure 3905 on CME 8.5

    Hello everyone,
I have to configure a Cisco SIP phone 3905 in CME ver 8.6. I haven't found a way to do this.
I tought about doing it with Fast Track (voice register global-type), but it is supported on CME 10 and above.
I was thinking about registering it like a 3rd party sip phone, but I don't know where to put the username and password on the phone. The Web Admin page of the 3905 only shows info.
Any idea how can I work this out?

    Hi Bruno,
3905 is supported with CME 9.0 onwards, please upgrade to a supported CME version.

  • Connecting/configuring FAX over wifi

I have a Cannon MX882 set up in my upstairs office and I would like to have it connected to my Xfinity voice via my wireless network.  I can't find directions?  Can anyone help?

You can not, the fax needs a direct telephone line connected to the gateway or eMTA's telephone port.  The fax portion does not use wi-fi or your home network to fax, that is only for printing / scanning.
Most users backfeed their Comcast telephone port to the inside wiring in the home and use the existing phone jacks in the home to connect telephones, fax and other devices needing a phone line.

  • Configuring VG248 for fax

    Hi
I have a few questions about configuring fax connected to VG248 (yes, i know its EOL but the end customer hasnt descided to replace them yet).
    The setup is like this:
    Fax -> VG248 -> CUBE -> SIP-trunk
or i can choose to include the CUCM which would make it look like:
    Fax -> VG248 -> CUCM -> CUBE -> SIP-trunk
Should i use T.38, or NSE or?
I have been looking at this:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-25210
Can i configure all dial-peers on CUCM with both T.38 and NSE so that when the VG248 are replaced i dont have to do any reconfiguring in CUBE?
    CUBE
    fax protocol t38 nse ls-redundancy 0 hs-redundancy 0 fallback pass-through <g711ulaw or g711alaw>
    fax-relay ecm disable
    VG248
    1) Configure --> Telephony --> Port specific parameters --> Choose the port to which the Fax machine is connected
       a) Set "Fax Relay" to "T.38 peer to peer"
       b) Set "Fax relay ECM" to "disabled"
       c) Set "Fax relay NSF" to "override with 000000"
    2) Configure --> Telephony --> Advanced Settings
Set "Passthrough signaling" to IOS Mode
    And here is a problem:
I dont have the choice to set the VG248 port to " fax relay - T.38 peer to peer"
CUCM, CUBE and VG248 are up and running in production so i have to be careful.
Sorry for not being more precise.
    Versions:
    VG248:  Software version : 1.3(1)
    CUBE: 15.1(4)M4
    CUCM: 8.0.3.22900-5
    CUCM: 8.6.2.22900-9
(there are two different CUCM clusters but both wil have the same setup regarding the fax'es)

    Craig,
You can achieve this by using COR and multiple dial-peers outbound. Essentially you would apply an inbound dial-peer matching the ANI of your fax on your gateway. This inbound dial-peer would have an incoming cor-list. Then you would add another cor-list to your existing dial-peers, making sure they don't include the fax inbound cor. Then you would duplicate an outbound pattern with a cor-list the faxes can use. Here is an example below, assuming the Fax DN is 1000 with an e164 of 0886441000.
    dial-peer cor custom
    name faxnumber1000
    name longdistance-nofax
    dial-peer cor list faxnumber1000
    member faxnumber1000
    dial-peer cor list longdistance-nofax
    member longdistance-nofax
    dial-peer voice 1000 voip
description Inbound Fax dial-peer Fax DN 1000
    incoming-called number 1000
    corlist incoming faxnumber1000
    dial-peer voice 11 pots
    description Original Outbound LD dialpeer
    destination-pattern 9T
    clid network-number 0886448580
    corlist outgoing longdistance-nofax
    port x/x
    dial-peer voice 12 pots
    description Fax only LD dialpeer
    destination-pattern 9T
    clid network-number 0886441000
    corlist outgoing faxnumber1000
    preference 1
    port x/x
COR will restrict the fax from ever using the dial-peer with the incorrect CLID. The preference on the fax dial-peer will prevent in most scenarios anyone else using it but you could also apply COR to the remainder of the router to 100% guarantee fax only usage of that dial-peer.
Here is a document explaining COR(note this will discuss how to set it up and not for using it as a workaround to your issue).

  • Data, voice, video & fax over the satellite link

    Hi,
We have a requirement for Cisco voice to be implemented at our satellite teleport. This is basically to connect our teleport location HO to Barge (sea platform - rig) via the satellite. At the rig we would require data, voice, video & fax services. The satellite WAN BW is 256kbps. The Barge users will use four telephones, one fax & will do videoconferencing. They will communicate with teleport HO & use the PSTN for internationatal dialling using the HO voice gateway. There is no Cisco call manager in place. There is PBX (Brand-NEC, Model- NECX 2400) system at the HO.
Appreciate if somebody can recommend as to what would be the best way to provide voice, fax & video connectivity to the users in the barge.Thanks.
    Rgds./
    Sack

Buy Unified Communications Manager, SageCom XMediusFAX, and a Cisco ISR G2 router for the head office to provide PSTN calling and faxing support. Buy a second ISR G2 with Unified Communications license, the appropriate CME license count, and a ISM running CUE for voicemail. Configure UCM and CME to communicate using a SIP trunk and configure QoS on the satellite to prioritize the voice and signaling traffic. You will not get video calling across a link that small.

  • 4FXS-DID configuration problem using BRI to receive/send calls from/to PSTN

    Hi to all.
Follow is the partial configuration of my CME.
It has a 4FXS card to use analog phones and faxes, and 4 ISDN Basic Rate interfaces.
On each port of the 4FXS DID card happens the following:
    If I enable direct-inward-dial
I can receive calls from PSTN.
Off hooking the analog phone I cannot hear any free line tone. I cannot make any call from that phone.
    If I disable direct-inward-dial
I cannot receive directly calls form PSTN.
Callers on PSTN after typing my number, they hear a free tone. Then just typing the extension desired the phone ring.
Off hooking the analog phone I hear a free line tone. I can make normal calls to everyone.
I have half the configuration working.
    Where am I wrong?
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks to all.
    Giorgio.

    Hi Paolo.
Sorry for the delay. I was on holiday.
I would like to keep separate incoming calls from outgoing calls.
So I decided to keep two dial peers for every BRI interface.
I followed your suggestion on eliminate commands:
    "incoming called-number" on FXSs,
    various "progress_ind" on BRIs
Also I eliminated  "direct-inward-dial" on FXSs,
Today I reconfigured and right tested the dial peers as following:

  • Problem with Fax and ATA

    Hi,
i do not have problem to send Fax to the PSTN, but when I try to receive a fax on the fax machine in port1 of the ATA, the machine never give fax signal.

    Hi Leonardo,
    Have a look at the following;
Cisco ATA 186 and Cisco ATA 188 Analog Telephone Adaptor Administrator's Guide (SCCP) (2.15.ms, Rev B0)
    Configuring and Debugging Fax Services

Configure Fax Detection Method on the Cisco ATA 186
Use a web browser and go to http:///dev (for example, http://172.16.104.117/dev) in order to configure the Cisco ATA 186 using the web interface.
You must configure these parameters in order to configure the Cisco ATA 186.
    Audio Mode
bit 2 (18)=0 Enable detection of FAX CED (answer) tone and switch to FAX mode for the rest of the call if the tone is detected.
    Hope this helps!

  • Fax Detect help, PLEASE! :)

I'm looking to configure fax detect on the UC 520.
I can get listen-first to work for faxes only. After 9 seconds, or when I press any key...the call is disconnected.
If I confgure it for connect-first, the line just rings... never answers.
    Config is attached.
PLEASE let me know what's missing ... I had this working a while back, and I don't remember what I needed to do.
    I've also tried
    app_fax_detect.2.1.2.2.tcl and
    app_fax_detect.2.1.2.3.tcl
    Same issue.
    THANK YOU !!
    Greg

    Hey Gregory,
I was looking at your configuration and found that app is applied on FXO port. Can you please send me following from the UC520
    show ver
    show run
    show flash
Also I would like you to enable following debugs and make a test call
    debug voip ccap inout
    debug voip vtsp all
    debug vpm signal
    debug voip application all
    debug fax mta all
Please make sure that you are collecting the debugs on buffer and not on console.
    Thanks,
    Malick

  • Sending various documents through FAX in PO

    Hi All
I had a requirement to FAX various kinds of documents like PDF WORD etc through FAX in Purchase Order.
It has to be accessed from Document Management System.
Any pointers in this shall be welcomed.
    Thanks in advance
    Anuj

    Hi Saurabh,
You got standard way to do it . First your message has to be set to be send by Fax ( check in transaction NACE for this or check with your functionnal consultant ) .
After you have to make some technical customizing in transaction SCOT in order to configure Fax connexion from SAP and then set the file fomrat you want for fax.
Remember that if you want to send Fax directly from SAP, SAP need to be connected to a Fax Card or a Fax Server .
    Hope this will help you.
