Configure Frequent visited sites in list format

Hi Internet Explorer Expert,
I have a query here. Usually the frequent visited websites will be shown in series of box icon form and usually we only see 10 icons of frequently visited websites.  Is it possible to change or view the those frequent visited websites in listed
format?
Thanks so much for the attention
Regards,
Henry

Is it possible to change or view the those frequent visited websites in listed format?
The only change allowed is to take stuff out never to be seen again.  E.g. it is probably safe to do that with Survey URL.  You can also change the size of it.  There is a registry hack floating around which does that.  Another option
is to use the History By most visited which is bigger than the normal Frequent list.  You can "edit" that also by removing stuff you don't care to see again.  I don't know if either list gets the idea not to bother showing you similar
things again, e.g. any other surveys in the future.  FWIW I once used it as a suggestion list for promotion to the Favorites Bar (aka Links bar).  Then I would delete it from the Frequent list, never to be seen there again, but then to get the amusement
of seeing what would appear in its place.  I think maybe I should do that again because it is a bit useless seeing the same things in both places.

  • My frequently visited sites which used to be on a tool bar have disappeared when Firefox upgraded itself in the last few days. How to get them back?

There used to be a bar with my frequently visited sites just below the search bar. It disappeared with the upgrade. How do I get it back? I don't understand the terminology in the help video

Was it the Bookmarks Toolbar? You can display the Bookmarks Toolbar below the main toolbar in a number of ways.
    * right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Bookmarks Toolbar
    * right-click the "+" button on the tab bar > Bookmarks Toolbar
    * tap the Alt key to open the classic menu bar (File, Edit, View), the click View > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar
    Any luck?

  • Frequently visited sites no longer shows

    Hi,
For some reason "Frequently Visited Sites" does not show anymore. All that shows up is "Favorites".  Does anybody know how to re-enable Frequently Visited Sites?  I don't see a Preferences setting for turning it on and off.  It's been off for about a week now.
    Thanks....
    Running Yosemite 10.10.2
    Safari Version 8.0.3

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Search tab then select:  Show Favorites

  • Is it possible to set up my stat page to show thumbnails of selected or most frequently visited sites like in Opera?

Masses of information about new Firefox, but it all seems rather complicated and confusing. I would like to have a start page as I had in Opera, which shows thumbnails of my most frequently visited sites. I just need to know if this is POSSIBLE - if it is I'll make an effort to work out how to do it.
If you don't know what I'm tallking about look at the beginning of this video http://www.opera.com/browser/
I think Firefox is a better browser than Opera, but I like this feature of Opera and would like to have it on Firefox.
    Thanks for any advice!

  • New tab page will not remember any frequently visited sites

Before the update to 34.0.5, the new tab page worked fine. Now it will not remember any pages I go to. Dragging bookmarks over just opens the bookmark. Remember history is on.

    '''Found my own answer: '''
The update to Firefox version 34.0.5 changed the way zoom works for the New Tab page. My visited sites are being saved, but I have to zoom out several levels to see them. I have to do this ''every time ''I open the New Tab page.
To customize the default zoom for my tabs, I tried the NoSquint add-on first. It worked for every page except the New Tab page.
'''Google search for:''' firefox new tab page zoom add-on
'''Returned:''' Default FullZoom Level :: Add-ons for Firefox
Default FullZoom Level→User Reviews→'''Find On This Page search for:''' New Tab Page
'''Returned: '''"...this extension applies the selected default zoom in the preferences to the new tab page..." Firebird, ''a Firefox user''
The Default FullZoom Level add-on has resolved my issue.

  • Is it possible to set up my start page to show thumbnails of selected/bookmarked/most frequently visited sites like in Opera?

I want to be able to see a dozen or so thumbnails of sites I visit frequently so I can click on them and return to them more easily than typing in their addresses in the URL bar. Opera offers this feature. Is it possibe to set up Firefox (perhaps with a plug-in?) to emulate this? I'm new to Firefox and am intimidated by all the information about how to customise it - and how difficult it is to find what I want, but I'll carry on looking if someone can tell me its worth the effort.
I have in fact asked this question before but it's obviously not been entered into the database.

To clarify, do you have the User Profile Service (including MySite Host) up and running on this environment? That's subtley different to the full MySite experience which is clearly not applicable...
Interesting question - thanks for that. Until now I didn't realise there was a difference.
The User Profile Service is up and running, but no MySite Host is set. (I don't believe MySite will be available anywhere here. I guess that means there's no valid MySite Host for me to use.)
    Many thanks,

  • Frequently visited site keeps coming up with badware message yet badware site says that site is clear

This website iseekgolf.com did have an issue with badware which has been cleared. Firefox still reports this site as a badware site and wont directly open same. When I have checked on stopbadaware https://www.stopbadware.org/clearinghouse/search?url=iseekgolf.com it shows as the site is clear yet one still gets directed here http://www.stopbadware.org/firefox?hl=en-US&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.iseekgolf.com%2F .
If i use a competitors search i can access the site without message, same from my android phone.
How can I clear this from my personal computer has it has gone past being annoying.

Update to Firefox 18 today ([[Update Firefox to the latest version]]) and you should be able to access the site. This is a bug in Firefox 17 which we fixed in 18 :)

  • Why a new tab does not give me a preview of frequently visited sites

There is a grid symbol but it minimizes to a screen called "Group Tabs". I have FirefoxESR 31.4.0 version installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    Hi CL718
Not certain but probably reading this article helps [[Use Tab Groups to organize a lot of tabs]]
'''Are you asking about the new tab page ?'''
    These highlight some available sites.
That is opened with keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T , or by keying into the location bar ''about:newtab'' {Note the two dots a colon : )
There is a cog icon top right on that page to change settings. And a what is this link.

'''Or are you asking about Tabs Groups'''
These do use a grid icon, and are a graphical method of grouping your open tabs.

  • Edit Safari "Frequently Visited" Black List?

Noticed that Safari had a frequently visited site under "frequently visited" but the wrong page. So I removed it hoping it would take the hint and add back the correct landing page. Now even though I visit the site about 10x more frequently than any other site, it never appears on the frequently visited list. Which makes me pretty sure that there's a black list somewhere that contains domains -- root domains -- that have been removed from the frequently visited list. I have no idea where this black list lives. Has anyone delved into Safari deeply enough to uncover the location of this list so I can adjust it?

    Hello, bobbygstx.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps on how to remove frequently visited sites from Safari. This process is similar to deleting favorites.
Bookmark the current page. Tap (or touch and hold ), then tap Add Bookmark.
View your bookmarks. Tap , then tap .
Get organized. To create a folder for bookmarks, tap , then tap Edit.
Add a webpage to your favorites. Open the page, tap the search field, drag down, then tap Add to Favorites.
Quickly see your favorite and frequently visited sites. Tap the Search field to see your favorites. Scroll down to see frequently visited sites.
Edit your favorites. Tap the search field, then touch and hold a page or folder. You can delete the item, or edit it to rename or move it.
Choose which favorites appear when you tap the search field. Go to Settings > Safari > Favorites.
Bookmarks bar on your Mac? Turn on Safari in Settings > iCloud if you want items from the bookmarks bar in Safari on your Mac to appear in Favorites on iPhone.
Save an icon for the current page on your Home screen. Tap , then tap Add to Home Screen. The icon appears only on the device where you create it.
    Keep bookmarks
    Cheers,

  • How do I turn off frequently visited in safari new tab.

How do I turn off frequently visited in safari new tab.  Note, I still want favorites to show.  But I feel it is inappropriate for safari to track frequently visited sites.  I wish I could use private browsing more, but I hate that keychain doesn't work in private mode.  Also, why can't I turn history completely off?

To turn on private browsing, tap Safari, then tap in the lower-right corner. Tap Private to turn private browsing on.
Note: If you're using an iPad, tap , then Private.
Tap again > turn off private.

  • How can I turn off "frequently visited" section in Safari?

Hello, I just installed Yosemite and I started immediately hating the new Safari!
How is it possible to stop/delete/cancel the new useless and annoying big window with "frequently visited" sites, with giant useless and anti-privacy icons?
    http://blog.laptopmag.com/wpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/favorite-533x400.png
Please add a toggle in the preferences to turn OFF that horrible new feature!

Safari > Preferences > Search > Smart Search Field:
Uncheck the box beside "Show Favorites".

  • I'd like to modify how recently visited site are shown: Listed like before rather than thumbnails, and sorted by most recent rather than most frequent. Thanks.

I did find one thread on creating a custom bookmarks folder that contains the recently visited sites sorted by recency, but I can't figure out how to create it. I'm pretty computer-savvy but the links provided don't go to a clear path on achieving what the topic is about.
And I found nothing on changing back to the former list view that existed before the recent update that went to thumbnails. Note this is not an issue new browser windows but it is when opening a New Tab -- the new version shows thumbnails, but I'd prefer the list.
    Thanks!

Firefox (version 13 and higher) shows thumbnails when opening a new tab. If you saw a list view at some point, then that feature was provided by an extension you've installed. Check if the extension in question has been updated for Firefox 13. Setting the new tab page to open ''about:blank'' may also restore the extension's functionality. See the following article for details:

To create your own smart bookmark folders, you can use the following extension.

    * Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"

  • Lost bookmarks and frequently visited tabs after doing a system restore. Easy help? Not a computer whiz.

Last night I tried to download a file converter from IQmango. I was nervous because it was taking so long, so I discontinued it. Not soon enough. AVG toolbar captured my computer and so did a IQmango, which would not let me access my Firefox homepage. Instead of the little fox, I got this green IQmango icon. I did a system restore in frustration of not being able to rid my computer of these hijackers, and in the process, lost my bookmarks and my tabs of recently visited places. Can someone speak to me in plain English and tell me how to get them back. If I can't, it is okay. Just tell me I can't. I tried updating Firefox browser before the restore, and so maybe that is what did it. I've never had this happen before. I have Windows Vista. Windows 6.1 OS, if that helps. If you can give me a 1. you click this; 2. you click that, etc. I would appreciate it. This all started because Windows DVD maker doesn't take an MP3 file!!! Helloooooo Windows!

    (1) Bookmarks
If you go to the bookmark restore menu, are any recent dates listed? You can check that using the steps in this article: [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]].
    (2) Frequently visited tabs
    (A) Do you mean the thumbnails on your "new tab" page? These will be repopulated by your history. But if you had pinned sites here, you might not be able to recover those.
    (B) Do you mean tabs that you kept open from day to day by restoring your previous session where you left off? That data is fragile and might not be recoverable.
Step 1 would be to salvage your sessionstore files and make backup copies before exiting Firefox or making any other changes.
Open your active Firefox profile folder (personal settings folder) using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Copy all files that start with sessionstore to a safe location such as your documents folder.
Does the sessionstore.bak file look as though it has a timestamp of your last good session, or something later or much earlier?
