Configure log file transfer to downstream capture daabase!
Dear all,
I am setting up bidirectional replication among 2 database server that are Linux based and oracle 11gR1 is the database.
I am following the document Oracle Streams Administrator Guide, Have completed all the pre-configuration tasks but I have confusion with this step where we have to configure log file transfer to downstream capture database.
I am unable to understand this from the documentation.
I mean how do I configure Oracle Net so that the source database can communicate with each other in bi-directional replication?
Configure authentication at both databases to support the transfer of redo data? How can I do this?
Third thing is the paramter setting that obviously i can do
Kindly help me through this step.
Regards, Imran
and what about this:
Configure authentication at both databases to support the transfer of redo data?
Thanks, ImranFor communication between the two databases, you create streams administrator at both the databases. The strmadmin talk to each other.
Regards,
S.K.

Managing and configuring log files for Oracle 9ias
Hi all,
I'm wondering where I can find documentation on managing and configuring log files like:
ORACLE_HOME/admin/ sid/*dump/* ORACLE_HOME/assistants/opca/install.log ORACLE_HOME/webcache/logs/*
ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs/*
ORACLE_HOME/ldap/log/*
ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/*
ORACLE_HOME/sysman/log/*
ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/ OC4J_instance/log/*/* ORACLE_HOME/config/schemaload.log ORACLE_HOME/config/useinfratool.log
because I didn't find anything in document like:
Oracle9 i Application Server
Administrators Guide
Release 2 (9.0.2)
May 2002
Part No. A92171-02
So, if anyone has any idea...
Thanks in advanceDoes anyone know how or if it is possible to send the stdout and/or stderr to the log4j type of logging? I already capture the stdout and stderr to the flat file. But I would like to timestamp every line to compare and diagnose problems with each application that encounters problems. Each web app is using log4j to their own application log4j log file. When they encounter errors or resource draining problems, I would like to see the container logs and see what was occuring inside the container at around that same time.
Any ideas? -
DataGuard Windows 9201 - log file transfer interrupt with a big redo log
OS WINDOWS
Oracle 9201
Primary: service_name orcl1 db_name orcl1
Standby: service_name orcl2 db_name orcl1
Same dir structure distribute on different VMware machine but connect with a real physical fiber network enviorment, two node distance more than 20km.
LOG FILE - 100M
MAX PERFORMACE MODE
we can got succesful result when input 'alter system switch log file' manually, the log usually small than 20m.
but when we try to switch a full redo log the error occur, log can't transfer to standby site.
it's seem to a transfer interrupt by some unnameable reason.
we check the network ping, lsnrctl service_name status, dataguard configration and windows tcpip configration, but have no conclusion.
we will crzy!! help

How to configure log files in SQL 2012?
I'm installing a SharePoint Solution and using Microsoft SQL 2012 and I have limited knowledge in installing SQL. I simply run the wizard and create the DB for SharePoint.
Is there any links/materials available demonstrating how to correctly configure the log files step by step in a specific partition during the SQL installation for SharePoint 2013?
thanks,Hello,
SQL Server database log files benefit from RAID 1 and RAID 10 configurations. RAID 10 is recommended for both data files and log files.
To control de grow of transaction log files, please backup them regularly. The following article may explain you in detail why:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175495.aspx
Monitor the growth of log files using Performance Monitor and the SQLServer:Databases --> Log Growths counter. Adjust the size of log files until Log Growths
is constantly zero.
Hope this helps.

Important Configuration/Log Files for Storage Tek
Hi,
I have 6140 Storage Arrays, in the same ref. I would like to know more about command line details.
1. Important Configuration files
2. Important Log Files
3. Event Messages file
4. Important utilities like sscs, service, suppport and their default path.
5. Solaris FC constroller configuration files.
Please suggest in case I can get this details from any doc, as I already referred Sun Storage Tek 6140 Getting Started Guide for the same but not found much details.
Thanks
RajanI figured out what my problem was here. The Windows user that the portal processes run as is the user who writes the log files. In this case, this user is a local user to the portal server and not a Windows domain user. This means that the user does not have access to write to the shared drive.
We had two options as to what we could do here. The first would be to change the user that's running the portal to a user that could write to that shared drive. The second option would be to have the portal write the log files locally on the portal server and then have a script run as a domain user on that server sometime in the day and copy the files to the shared drive. We are going with the second option. -
Log and Transfer won't capture entire clip...
Hi there,
I'm trying to log and capture clips in FCP7 from and HVX200.
For some reason it doesn't capture the entire clip...the end gets cut off. I can see it in the log and transfer window, but when I transfer the clips, they become truncated.
Has anyone ever had this problem?
thanks!Go into the Log and Transfer prefs...that little sprocket looking drop down menu. Choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck "REMOVE PULLDOWN."

Configure Log File for each web application deployed in weblogic server usi
Hi All,
How do I configure Log4J to log separately for each web application? i.e. Assuming, I have a web application "AWeb" and a web application "BWeb". I need a log file to be created for AWeb Separately and BWeb Separately. i.e. All the log information for "AWeb" web application will be stored in AWeb.log and all the "BWeb" web application will be stored in BWeb.log
Do you have any sample code and configuration details for the above-mentioned requirement?
Thanks in Advance,
C R BaradwajYou do not need to do anything strange, just use log4j the usual way with the exception that you do not need to init log4j (this is not necesary when using a log4j.xml.)
A minimal sample of a log4j.xml is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE log4j:configuration SYSTEM "log4j.dtd">
<log4j:configuration xmlns:log4j="http://jakarta.apache.org/log4j/">
<appender name="ConsoleAppender" class="org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender">
<layout class="org.apache.log4j.SimpleLayout"/>
</appender>
<root>
<priority value ="debug" />
<appender-ref ref="ConsoleAppender"/>
</root>
</log4j:configuration>
You just have to be sure that you have different log4j.xml in your classpath for different web applications.

How to configure Log file generation
Hi,
I am in a migration project. Currently the OS is Unix. After migration it is going to be Windows.
So we want to change the log files being created in Unix to Windows.
Can anyone suggest any settings in SAP for the log file.
Regards,
GijoyHi Gijoy,
can you please reformulate your question for better understanding?
The log location and tracing severity setup mechanism is platform independent.
After migration there's no necessary step(s) to be taken, the logs will be created in the same way on windows as on unix under your current sap installation folder (e.g. defaultTrace is on unix under /usr/sap/.../j2ee/cluster/server<n>/log , on windows this will be <DRIVE:>\usr\sap\...\j2ee\cluster\server<n>\log)
I hope this answers your question.

SCP log file transfer issues after upgrade
We upgraded out AsyncOS from 6.3.3 to 7.1.3 and now we are encountering log transfer issues with 2 out of 3 WSA's. Also the log rotation is set at 3GB but is rotating at 1GB. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hi Dominick,
FIrst look at your log subscriptions for the access logs. Log into the GUI -> System Administration -> Log Subscriptions -> Access Logs highlighted in blue on the left side of the window. Check that your configuration is set to your needs. Next we need to review what is taking place when SCP tries to send the logs to the destination by reviewing the System Logs also located within the log subscriptions. Is the destination a Windows or Linux device ? If it is a Linux device you may also want to look into var/log/secure for the log information there as well.
Sincerely,
Erik Kaiser

Could not open log file in Win2000 sp3 Message in console
I have configured log file for ias. Then restarted my Application server. It is giving Error message "Could not open log file ''logs/logVal.10817" in kas window. But logs files are there (created by the server itself) in the logs floder.
I have configured logs for two systems.
One system is noted all messages in the file
Second system did not not any messages.
But the files are existed in the logs folder in both the systems.
I need to configure logs for ias,Kjs and KXS also.
Please suggest me regarding this.
thanks
sudheerHi,
I'm not sure what operation are you trying to, can you please confirm that ? Please check what kind of messages did you try to log, is it only errors ? or all errors & warning or all messages ?. If it were only errors and warnings, then there is a possibility that the server did not encounter any of this, due to which the log file can be empty.

FCP 7 crashes in log and transfer (NSMallocException)
FCP 7 crashes about 50 minutes or so into log and trasfering my AVCHD footage. It throws a "NSMallocException" error as follows:
Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSMallocException', reason: '*** -[NSConcreteMutableData appendBytes:length:]: unable to allocate memory for length (73874)'
*** Call stack at first throw:
Is there any way around this painful problem
Or are there alternative ways of transfering AVCHD clips into pro res without using FCP log and transfer?The capture scratch is to an external Raid with about 2TB free.
Clip2Wrap2 looks great, I'll give it a try. My main concern is that it might be slower than FCP. I've got two weeks of filming to do, with 6 programs a day. I'm trying to the footage copied to the computer, then have it transfering into final cut while the next section is being filmed. So it needs to transfer fairly quickly. I've tried a few other AVCHD converters, but they're painfully slow. -
Multiple sources with single downstream capture
Is it possible to have multiple source machines all send their redo logs to a single downstream capture DB that will collect LCRs and queue the LCRs for all the source machines?
Yes, that's wht downstream replication is all about. read the 11G manual if you want to know how to do that.

Hi there,
Our customer sent us an NI-SPY log file that captured GPIB operation with his PC and our instrument for trouble shooting. I tried to open the .SPY file but could not. NI-SPY apparently opens the .SPY file but actually does not show anything. (See attached .SPY file that could not be read on my PC, and a screen shot of NI-SPY.)
The SPY log file is the one captured on the customer PC that installs PCI-GPIB with NI-488.2M v1.6 running Win98(probably).
I tried to open it with my two PCs but both were not possible. Both PC do not have NI-GPIB card but installs NI-VISA 2.6.
PC1:
Win2k(admin log-on), NI-VISA 2.6 with Tulip passport enabled, Agilent PCI-GPIB.
NI-SPY version is 1.5.0.
PC2:
WinMe, NI-VISA 2.6, no G
PIB card.
NI-SPY version is 1.5.0.
I found there was a similar Q&A with the URL below but it could not help.
http://exchange.ni.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=101&RNAME=ViewQuestion&HOID=50650000000800000034230000&ECategory=Instrument+Connectivity.GPIB
What is causing the problem?
Any help will be appreciated.

spy_screen.jpg 25 KBHi,
I was able to open the spy file. I don't know why it's not showing in yours. Maybe it has something to do with the localized version of the driver and OS.
What's the language of the OS and Driver installed in your computer?. And on the computer that made the capture?
In any case, I'm sending you a screenshot and an exported tes file of the capture.

hi folks,
-jdev 11.1.1.5.0 - adfbc
i configured log file of integrated wls(10.3.5) into my project folder.but i feel it make a some amount of time for every execution of wls.
for every new execution of Intergrated wls. new log file created into my project folder.
whether am on right way?. or else better un-config that log file.
why am saying means in two place log file are created.
c:\some users\system folder\ default server\ default Domain log.
D:\jdev\my work\my project.
for creating files in two place it take liitle bit amount of time is it so?
i feel that,
before configuing somewhat execution looks good :)Not sure what you are after, but you can use log levels to print out more info into three log.These Log messages are only in three log if the level its equal our higher then the current log level. You change the level when you get an error you can't otherwise find or resolve.
You find this in the blog John mentioned (in the other parts ).

Dear Experts,
I have two WLCs and other management devices as part of same subnet. I am able to upload ‘configs’ from all the devices on to my TFTP server. However when I am attempting to do the same from one of my WLC, it is failing consistently stating error message as:
‘%Error: Config file transfer failed – Unknown error –refer to log
Has anyone else too faced the same issue and how would we overcome this? Any specific debug that could help get more details on it?
Though the error message says, refer to log but still I don’t see anything that gets reflected in ‘Monitor logs’ which is related to ‘configuration file’ upload failure.
WLC code: 7.4.100.0
PFA as the error snippet.
Thanks and Regards,
AdnanHi Kaneswaran,
Just a soft reboot helped me solved the problem :). Still I am on 7.4 and facing no issues after this.
Apologies for coming too late to respond. Getting a down time window was not that easy and so was much delayed to try soft reload. I am still on 7.4 and facing no issue.
Glad that in your case it starting working all of a sudden. Could you please verify from 'show tech-support' to confirm if by chance your WLC had undergone any crash that could have caused the WLC to reload and thus accidently fixing the issue :)
Best Regards,
Muhammed Adnan
