Configure LunkSys router???

New to board and somewhat ignorant regarding both my PC and router.  I have an old LinkSys router (WRT54G v. 3).  Phone company came today to fix my DSL, however, in the process, messed up my router and I'm told it has to be "configured."  Since my router is old, LinkSys wants to charge me $30-40 for support, but I'm trying to avoid that...  Anyone provide me with a step-by-step to configure my router or point me to a post which does so (Since I'm sure this has been asked many times before)?  I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks so much!
Patrick

First reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Configuring Static Route Tracking Using ASDM 7.1(3) ASA 9.1(2)

I have recently updated my ASA5520 to 9.1(2) and I am using ASDM 7.1(3) to configure Static Route Tracking. I have done this previoussy in earlier version of ASDM without a problem.  There seems to be a new field in the Tracked Options section.  What is the "Target Interface"?  Is it the interface I want to use as the standby route when the Monitor fails? Or is it the Interface that is doing the monitoring?
I have looked through Cisco ASA Series General Operations ASDM Configuration Guide Software Version 7.1, as well as older ASDM books and this field is never listed or described.

    Hi,
The target interface will be the interface through which you will be polling some destination IP address with ICMP Echos to determine if the route through that interface is still valid.
So in your case you would use "Outside"
Heres the link to the ASA Command Reference listing the above "type" command under the "sla monitor 1" configuration

    Dear SAP Expert !
I want to install SAP Router but i dont know the SAP router package is allocated on DVD ? what is the DVD number ?
If you already configure SAP router please let me know how to configure ?

    Hello Thao
what is th exact issue that are u facing.
The account must be the administartor of the machine where u are installing SAPROUTER.Make sure you are following the correct steps as follows:
Downloading necessary software components from SAP Service Marketplace
    1. Login to the SAP Service Marketplace with the Service Marketplace at using
the USERID/PASSWORD which was assigned for your installation.
    2. Change the alias to www.service.sap.com/tcs to downloaded the SAP
cryptographic software. Select the correct SAPcrptographic software
depending on your saprouter operating system as shown below.
    3. You must have the sapcar.exe in order to extract the SAP cryptographic
    software file.
    4. With the command of u201Csapcar -xvf xxxxxxx.saru201D, /ntintel directory would be
created and the following files would be extracted.
    (Example C:/saprouter/ntintel)
( when the Microsoft Windows NT Intel version is downloaded)
    C:/saprouter/ntintel/sapcrypto.dll
    C:/saprouter/ntintel/sapgenpse.exe
    C:/saprouter/ticket
    Issue of Electronic Certificate
    5. It is necessary to define the environment variable for u201CSECUDIRu201D and
    u201CSNC_LIBu201D under system account.
Window NT environment variable setup :
Right-clicked the icon of you computer
Property -> details -> environment variable
    SECUDIR = < Directory name >
    Example. Variable name : SECUDIR
    Variable value
    : C:/saprouter/SNC_LIB = < Directory name >
    Example. Variable name : SNC_LIB
    Variable value : C:/saprouter/ntintel/sapcrypto.dll
    UNIX
    <path_to_libsecude>/<name_of_sapcrypto_library>
    Windows
    NT,
    <drive>:/<path_to_libsecude>/<name_of_sapcrypto_library>
    Windows
    2000
    6. Check if the environment of the user running saprouter contains the
    environment variable SNC_LIB.
    UNIX
    Printenv
    Windows NT
    System environment Variable
    7. You may now apply for a SAProuter certificate from the SAP Trust Center
    Service of SAP service marketplace
    http://service.sap.com/tcs
    > SAP Trust Center Service in Detail
    > SAProuter Certificates
    SAProuter Certificate "Apply Now"
    Click the button.
    8. Please take note of your "Distinguished Name"
Please refer to the example above
    -SAPRouter Name
    : JPL50020586
    -Distinguished Name
    CN=JPL50020586, OU=0000036946, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE
    Then, clicked the "Continue" button.
    9. Execute the following command in the /saprouter/ntintel
directory in order to generate your certificate to be exchanged with SAP.
    sapgenpse get_pse -v -r certreq -p local.pse "Distinguished Name"
    Example
    sapgenpse get_pse u2013v -r certreq -p local.pse "CN=JPL50020586, OU=0000036946,
    OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE"
Enter the PIN number. (you may enter any PIN Number you wish.)
    Please enter PIN :
    Please re-enter PIN :
<- you must use the same PIN Number as the above.
    10. The "certreq" file is created in the /saprouter/ntintel directory.
    11. Use a notepad to open the "certreq" file and copy the displayed information
(From the -BEGIN .to the END -)
12.You now have to paste the above copy content into the space provided
shown below. After you have pasted the text, click the u201CRequest certificateu201D
    button to submit your request.
    13. Once you click on the u201CRequest Certificateu201D a new screen will be displaying
your certificate issued by SAP CA (Certification Authority).
    14. Using a notepad to copy the content (From u2013Beingu2026 to -END) and save it
    as u201Csrcertu201D into /saprouter/ntintel/srcert.
    Note :
    - Please rename srcert.txt into srcert without any extension.
    15. You then need to import this certificate into SAProuter using the following
    command.
    Please run on /saprouter/ntintel directory.
    sapgenpse import_own_cert -c srcert -p local.pse
Please enter PIN : (same as point 9)
    16. Execute the following command in the /saprouter/ntintel directory.
    sapgenpse seclogin -p local.pse
Please enter PIN : (same as point 9)
This will create a file "cred_v2" in the same directory.
    17. Please check whether the certificate has been imported correctly.
Execute this command in /saprouter/ntintel directory.
    sapgenpse get_my_name -v -n Issuer
    The result should be "CN=SAProuter CA, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE".
    18. When the above results are not obtained , please delete local.pse and
cred_v2 and work again from steps 9. Please seek the assistance from your
local SAP helpdesk or create an OSS message via component XX-SER-NET-
OSS, if you are not able to obtain the above-mentioned result after you have
    repeated the above steps.

  • Please help me in configuring a router!

Hi! I have to configure a new router with a static route. No routing protocol will be used. Since, I'm a budding Network aspirant i do not know much about things. My senior Network Engineer has asked me to configure this router. There's an apartment where our Overseas employees stay, earlier this apartment had a broadband connection which was further divided through the APs(Cisco Wireless Access Points) and made usable to around 20 users. Now, they have bought in their own lease line and I have to configure this router. Please help me doing this as I'm not aware of anything else apart from what I have written here. Thanks a ton in advance!

    Hello,
You should provide some info so that people can figure out what do you want to do. For example, what kind of leased-line is it? L2 or L3? Is it like a cable connecting two sites from your company or is there any router in between from your leased-line provider...?
For what you say, the easiest thing would be to configure a default route to the other end of the leased line and voilà.
Otherwise, you can always ask your senior Network Engineer to configure it (him/her)self or ask for help to him/her.
    Regards,
    Reg.

ea 2700  has anyone been able to configure this router for trapping on a port....if so can you help us?

    Hi,
What do you mean by trapping on a port? Is it the same as port forwarding? The following link might help:
Setting up single Port Forwarding on Linksys Wi-Fi Routers and Smart Wi-Fi Routers

  • How do I Configure my Router to forward incoming data for port x ???

How do I configure my router to forward incoming data for port whatever?
I need this for my video games.

Depending on which router you have look under Gaming and Applications or system management for a Forwarding tab.  From there you select (or create) the port needed for your game with the IP address to the PC with the games you are using.  You may also have to configure Port Triggering for that game/port range/and IP to the hosting PC.

  • Configuring my router to cut down on Denial of Service errors

    Hi,
I am having problems with dos errors clogging up the bandwidth in my network. Is there anyway I can configure my router to cut back on these. Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Jesse

The DoS Protection button is enabled.
Most of them come from three ip addresses:  219.148.119.6, 219.148.119.2 and 218.55.122.213.
The description in the logs are things like "Possible DoS HGOD SynKiller Flooding",
"DoS MS-SQL Slammer Worm", "FRONTPAGE Extensions Remote Command Execution", and  "PORT_SCAN_TCP_FIN_ACK", in order of frequency of occurrence.

  • Configuring WRT160n router to maximize range and speed

I have just bought and installed a WRTn160 router. I used the default configuration settings. Unfortunately, I realized that on my second floor, one computer (g) did not pick up the signal and the other computer (n) was extremely slow. On the contrary my old LinkSys (b) router worked just fine with both machines. I then changed the 'Wide' channel to 20MHz and used channel 6 (the default was 'Auto'). This improved the speed on the second floor considerably. My questions are:
1- How do I know if the computer supporting 802.11n is actually using it? The manual indicates that 20MHz is for b/g only.
2-  If this configuration is supporting b/g only, how can I configure the router to support (n) computer while still supporting the (g) computer and maintaining range and speed?
3- How can I test for bandwidth between my desktop and the two other wireless computers? Currently, I only test bandwidth using my ISP. Needless to say, this is limited to bandwidth for Internet connectivity.
4- Advertisement for n routers indicate increased speed and range. This has not been my experience, in fact to the contrary, range dramatically shrunk. Is this limited range a configuration issue? a WRT160n router issue? or a limitation with the technology (802.11n)?

I would suggest you to readjust the wireless settings of the router...
On the setup page, click on the Wireless tab,Change the channel to 11 and click on save settings..Under Wireless tab, click on Advance Wireless Settings tab and Change N document.write("Transmission Rate")Transmission Rate to 15-130Mbps, Change the Beacon Interval to 75, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on save settings... Under Security tab, uncheck " document.write("Filter Anonymous Internet Requests")Filter Anonymous Internet Requests"...Power cycle the network and check the result.

  • How to configure IGMP routing right?

My server need to pass multicast UDP streams from physical NIC to a virtual NIC. Network layout is this: Ubuntu Server (ffmpeg) in Hyper-V <---> Windows Server (Wowza) <---> Multicast subnet.
Here is what I've done: Enabled RRAS service. Added IGMP protocol to IPv4 routing. Added pNIC and vNIC as interfaces. pNIC is in Proxy mode, vNIC is in Router mode.
That way I can at least see: 1) new records in IGMP group table when someone is requesting IGMP membership, 2) UDP packets flooding pNIC multicast interface when request from vNIC is received. However, I can't listen vNIC interface with Wireshark from guest
or host by some reason so I don't know if packets are actually reaching the player on VM. I assume they aren't, because I can't play it with VLC or ingest the stream by ffmpeg (but who knows, maybe it just can't be played in Hyper-V?).
If both interfaces are in IGMP router mode, no UDP traffic can be detected.
The question is where exactly the problem is. That Router/Proxy layout I've did seems to be "one-way". But I think in theory it is possible that both subnets have their own multicasts, and both subnets can have different consumers to play all those
multicast streams, so that Windows should route it correctly both ways.
Did I configured IGMP routing on Windows Server correctly? Because I'm not really sure.
Update:I tried to restream the udp-stream via VLC Player right into Ubuntu VM's interface. This way ffmpeg was able to catch something. It has another problems, though, but clearly is receiving some data now. So IGMP isn't configured right
by me, right? Then the topic question is the actual question.

    Hi,
To verify if the VM receives the multicast packet, please try to perform a network capture by using Network Monitor.
To download Network Monitor, please click the link below,
    Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4 (archive)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=4865
If the packets are revceived, it should be an software issue. Please check the settings of Ubuntu.
If the packets are not received, due to it is more related to Hyper-V, to get better help, please post this question on the Hyper-V forum.

  • Help required in configuring multicast routing

    Hi,
We have two 2 servers and 200 clients.
2 servers are in one vlan, 200 clients are in another vlan.
first server will send data to second server with multicast address 234.5.6.7
second server will send data to 200 clients with multicast address 234.5.6.8
first server is able to send data to second server.
but second server is not able to send data to clients.
If we put clients in same vlan, second server is able to send data to clients.
So we understood that multicast routing needs to be enabled in L3 switch.
    Switch Model: 3550
    IOS version: 12.1(19)EA1a
Any help in configuration required for this.........
    Regards
    SKRAO

    Hi Skrao,
Does your client vlan and server vlan exist on same layer 3 switch if yes then perform this config and it should work..
    On global config mode
    ip multicast-routing distributed
On interface vlan config (for both client vlan and server vlan)
    ip pim sparse-dense-mode
You can very well fine tune later.Try this and update if it worked.
