Configure macbook air to work with projector

Do I need to configure my new MacBook Air to work with a digital projector or should it work automatically without any setting up other than connection to the projector?

If you have a Lightning to whatever input that the projector has more than likely HDMI, VGA, or DVi you should be able to to hook the projector up with no problem. You can find a number of different displayPort outputs in the apple store or other electronic online/stores. Once connected to the projector you can choose to have the the additional desktop displayed or you can enable Airplay Mirroring in the Displays section under System Preferences. You can also close your Air and use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and completely operate through the projector screen.

Be careful to check the spec's, not all LG's support Mac OS X.
I really like my LG GE24LU20 Reviews it's big and bulky, but way faster and more reliable than any SuperDrive. Others here have also recommended the  GP10 DVD and Blu-ray™ Drives IT Products

Attempted to connect my mac to my data projector and it wont work?

If audio is needed, you'll need to more closely identify which MacBook Air you have:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
How to find your Mac's model and age?
If your MacBook Air is older than July 20, 2011, you'll need to identify whether or not it has a mini-Displayport, or a mini-DVI port:
    mini-DVI
    mini-Displayport
All technologies work well with the video of DVI or HDMI with the right adapter.  VGA and S-Video you need the proper adapter, and you won't necessarily have all available resolutions that are lower.

  • Can a 128 ssd storage still effectively work if I install windows 8.1 plus msoffice and a window-based proposal system? I plan to buy a macbook air entry level with 1.7 gh i5 processor.

If you are going to use Mac OS X and its associated applications, and a BootCamp partition with Windows 8, and MS Office and all of the work created there, you will more than likely run out of space on a 128 GB SSD pretty quickly...especially if you put any music, photos or videos on it.  Those things take a lot of space so you will have to be very, very careful about what you want to put on a 128 GB storage space.  You would be better off going for 512 GB with what you plan on doing with it.

No, sorry. it won't work with the 2007 MBP. You can replace the optical drive yourself - just go shopping at OWC.

  • Icloud drive fails to work at all on my Macbook Air 11 inch with Yosemite recently installed, 2014-09-20

icloud drive fails to work at all on my Macbook Air 11 inch with Yosemite recently installed, 2014-09-20. It works fine on my iMac, but that's no use to me. Unless it works with my Macbook Air, it's useless. Dropbox manages very well, but Dropbox has recently promoted the War Criminal Condoleeeza Rice to its board, presumably so it can spy on its users better. So, Apple, what's the problem? Any answers to this common problem?

I like it very much. I use it on my iPad (and occasionally my iPhone). I'm kind of a keyboard snob actually. I tried the Apple wireless keyboard first. Apple keyboards have a short throw that hurts the tips of my fingers. They're very pretty but the on button turns on when I don't want it to and my iPad wakes up in my bag. Strike 1.
I went to a little keyboard called the Joy and it had a positive switch so I didn't have the wakeup problem. It worked well though after several months I wore it out and had to replace it with another one. I also didn't like how flat it sat and used rubber bumpers on the back. It too had a short throw that hurt my finger tips after a while but it was better than the Apple.
Then I discovered the Logitech bluetooth keyboard, the K811. This is a great keyboard. It switches between multiple targets with one press, it has a positive on/off switch, the keys light up, it's rechargeable and lasts a long time, and the slight cushioning on the keys keeps my fingers from hurting. I put the rubber bumpers on it though like the Joy because I like the keyboard to sit up a little. It's a tiny bit bigger than the other keyboards but I like it a lot, better than my MBA keyboard and better than my iMac wired keyboard. I'm trying out an after market keyboard on the iMac now but I'm thinking about switching to one of these for the iMac.

Hard to say without knowing the model. You can go to About This Mac - more info to verify. It needs to be mid 2011 or later.

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

  • How do you sync macbook air to overhead VGA projector?

How do you sync a macbook air to overhead VGA projector for slide presentation?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
That depends on the set up of the projector.
What input does the projector support? Older projectors often had VGA, S-video or RCA composit video inputs. Newer ones might have HDMI or a LAN cable, some of the newest are AirPlay compatible.
Once you have determined what connector you must (or can choose) to use you pick one and open System Preferences Displays... the MBA should be detecting and showing a second monitor... your projector should be detecting and showing a input signal.  You just have to match them up resolution and refresh rate wise.
Say the projector has a resolution of 800x600. Compared with MBA's 1366x768 resolution, if you simply have it mirror the MBA, its screen is going to shrink to the point where it is more difficult to run apps (especially if you select them from the top toolbar, as everything is squashed together).
Conversely, if you choose to use the projector as a 2nd screen, it preserves the MBA's original resolution, and only affects any app drug off-screen (which is what the students will see). You will still have the main desktop available for apps to keep open (but don't want the students to see).

  • To MacBook Air or not to MacBook Air - PC Work Question

    Aloha,
I am debating on buying a MacBook Air. I currently have an iMac at home and I love Apple products.
I need to purchase a laptop that runs XP, due to work.
Does the MacBook Air have enough power to do this well? As I will not only have to use XP, but I will have to remote log-in to my computer at work as well.
I am debating on getting a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro...
Any MacBook Air users who run XP?
    Any advise is much appreciated.
    Mahalo nui loa!

While the MacBook Air has improved with the second iteration, it still has performance issues. The standard MBA uses a 4200 RPM hard drive, and that will effect performance no matter what OS is being run, virtualized or not. A $500 upgrade to the low-end MBA, or purchasing the high-end model, will mitigate this with a solid-state drive. However, the SSD in the MBA is not one of the new, faster SSDs, like the Intel X-25M. The SSD option on the MBA is seriously overpriced for the performance benefit. Even if you do upgrade the hard drive, the MBA is limited to 2 GB RAM, no upgrade being possible as the RAM is soldered onto the main board. If you plan on running Windows XP virtualized, allocating RAM will be an issue. As an example, VMware specifically recommends setting the preferences of Fusion to favor OS X on the MBA.
For running Windows virtualized, which avoids the need to reboot when switching between OS X and XP, I believe the best price/performance solution is a MacBook with 4GB RAM and an Intel X-25M SSD. I would point out that the MacBook's display has been criticized for glare issues though. If money and/or weight are not issues, the MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM or more, fast SSD or not, is the best choice.

  • My Macbook Air behaves strangely with my USB devices.

Hello! My Macbook Air behaves strangely with my USB devices. They appear in the Finder but the icon then quickly disappears, as if the device has never been connected. Sometimes the devices work fine, however. Could you please help me identify the problem?

USB draws power from the MBA, and MBA will shut them down if too much is taken.  Try a self-powered (not USB-powered) hub, to see if the AIr acts better.  Costs about $25 at BestBuy.
May not tbe the final solution, but no a bad idea anyway.

  • Macbook air superdrive compatible with macbook pro

i have the macbook pro laptop.  is the macbook air superdrive compatible with this?  iam using a external drive atm but it was not an apple product.  my computer has been upgraded this is the reason for the external drive.  can anyone advise?
    thanx Tracy Ann

Actually there is nothing different from the Apple Super drive to any other DVD drive made for notebook computers.
Any external DVD drive will work with a Macbook Pro.

  • Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers.

My Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers. It seems to be the combination of the chargers and the computer. I was thinking whether the Thunderbolt screen has a larger power supply which easier activates the computer to actually receive the charge. It reminds me a bit of the Nokia Lumia 800 telephone, which when totally exhausted needs a strong charger to be activated again. I am as frustrated as most others.  I have got two chargers, and both of them sometimes work, other times not. Sometimes, they start working after a while. Is Apple meanwhile coming up with a solution or advice how to handle such situation?

I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
    Good luck,

  • My pinch zoom-in and out in my Macbook Air isnt working. Help!

Can someone please help me.. my pinch zoom in and out in my macbook air isnt working. It happened about 2 weeks ago, in the settings all the zoom preferences are checked so i dont know whats wrong with it. The pinch zoom is the only thing not working, the double tap zoom and all the rest of the capabilities of my trackpad are working properly. I called apple but they couldnt help through the phone and wants me to pay $19.99 for a one time help.. Please help!

I've also noticed that the iPhoto zoom is erratic. Sometimes I try to use the trackpad to zoom, but the image just blurs for a second instead of zooming in.
I experimented a little and found that it helps, when zooming in, to make sure that your two fingers are very close together when starting.
