Configure MSN Messenger in Portal

Dear All,
We downloaded the Msn Messenger PAR File from the SDN and configured in portal. When we clicked the send Instant Message in the CLP (Collabrotaion Lanch Pad), we got the Error Message
<b>"Cannot not start a chat session because for the selected user no SIP address exists"</b>
Please somebody help us to solve this issue.
Advance Thanks & Regards
Art Tech

Ran into the same problem. You have to add a custom UME attribute named "sip".
To accomplish this, you have to have a System Administrator navigate to System Admin --> System Config --> UME Config.
Click on the Modify button.
Click on the User Admin UI tab.
Under the property category <b>Custom attributes of the user profile</b>,
add the value "com.sap.security.core.usermanagement:sip" for the following two properties:
Administrator-Managed Custom Attributes
User-Managed Custom Attributes (if users are allowed to manage parts of their profile).
This is assuming you are using the portal db for the user store.
If you are using an LDAP, then I am thinking that the SIP property is already there.
I believe in AD it might be called "msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress".  To use this, you probably have to modify the code in the par file from SDN.
In the MessengerChatComponentPage.java code, there is the following line:
sipAddress = this.getUserAttribute(user, "com.sap.security.core.usermanagement", "sip");
Not sure if the code can read the AD property or not.  Not sure what the code would have to be changed to.  Maybe(?):
sipAddress = this.getUserAttribute(user, "<correct namespace???>", "msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress");
Hope this helps...
After we integrate with AD, I will try to make that work.
Last important point... however you get the UME UI custom property added, the user has to have the SIP address value. THEN your messenger session will start.

  • Can no longer access .mac, mail, msn messenger etc on wireless network

have a wireless network in our house through an airport. but .mac login page does not load, mail will not access my email and things like msn messenger just do not login. does not work on either my macbook, imac g5 or the g5 tower. no idea what is wrong, could it be proxies or firewall stuff. just no idea.
    please help.
    will

This appears to be a network issue rather than a Mail issue. You should probably ask either in the Networking forum or in one of the AirPort forums.
As a first step, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.

  • Voice Chat using MSN Messenger behind NAT

    Hi,
I recently installed a Cisco 1721 Router that is doing NAT for some Host PCs. These PC's are configured with private IP Addressing.
Problem is with MSN Messenger Voice. Since MSN Messenger uses SIP for establshing connection, and i think it embeds the IP Address information in Layer 5\6, so it is not working.
Can someone point me towards a configuration for Cisco IOS, that would be able to acheive this ? I.e. ability to use SIP , while using NAT (PAT or Static) ?
    I am running 12.2(11)T.
    Regrds \\ Naman

The default SIP port is 5060, however as SIP uses many different ports for communication allowing just 5060 will not work.
Cisco PIX Firewall versions 6.0 and 6.1 offer SIP support that solves NAT traversal issues by acting as an application-layer gateway (ALG).
Cisco PIX Firewalls dynamically open and close UDP ports for secure SIP traffic to flow through. Other vendors must open a large range of UDP ports, which creates a security risk

  • Msn messenger- cant send files!?!

this has just recently started happening -
when i try to send a file on msn messenger it says..
when i try to send a file on msn messenger it says..
"We could not send this file because the connection is blocked. Please contact your network administrator or Internet service provider; they may be able to enable file transfers."
does anyone know what i have to do or what this means?
does anyone know what i have to do or what this means?
im guessing a box can be ticked in msn preferences or system preferences somewhere?? - any ideas????
    thnx

You are probably using a router or a gateway acting as firewall.
So you have to configure the NAT feature on that device.
ports you have to NAT toward your computer are listed to this page

  • IChat + MSN Messenger Contacts + iSight = Video Conferencing

I have recently converted my windows-based laptop to a MacBook. Thus, I am very new to this new system. I need some assistance or guidance as I am unsure of how I can:
    1) use iChat or equivalent with video conferencing features (because MSN Messenger for Mac does not have important feature) to video conference with my contacts in MSN Messenger for Windows?
    2) still be able to chat with my contacts in MSN Messenger for Windows, without them installing iChat or equivalent?
    3) use the built-in iSight to video conference with them?
    4) configure iChat or equivalent to chat with my contacts if all of the above are possible?
    Much appreciated.

    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    1) If video conferencing is so important you could use skype or a jabber client that supports both video and audio. Your friends have to install skype or a jabber client too though.
    2) With a jabber account and iChat you can chat with your buddies on msn, yahoo, aim google-talk, ICQ etc. This is done through Jabber-gateways or transports. JabberLive! ( http://jabberlive.org ) has many gateways you can register with.
    3) Possible through skype or a jabber client that supports both video and audio.
    4) If you want to chat with your buddies using iChat you definitely have to get a jabber account. ( I can recommend http://jabberlive.org)

  • Satellite Pro M30 Win 7 - webcam does not work on msn messenger

    Hi all
I have a Satellite Pro M30 Modell Nr.: PSM35E and have just changed to Windows 7. But the Nvidia Card NVIDIA GeForceTM FX Go5200 Grafik mit 64 MB RAM does not work properly.
I could find a driver from Vista and installed it, have Aero pics on the desktop, but my webcam does not work on msn messenger and this is the only way for me to see my family.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi
Im a little bit confused; do you have some problems with the graphic card or with the webcam?
I assume you are speaking about external webcam connected to the USB port? Right?
What happens if you connect the webcam to the notebook? Can Win 7 recognize the connected device? Did you install additional drivers for this webcam?
In most cases its necessary to do that because I think its not plug & play device.

  • Error while creating the Ole Object (MSN Messenger)

    Hi,
We are trying to send a mail by invoking MSN Messenger. We have imported "Messenger.MsgrObject" OLE Object and written the following code to logon to the Messenger.

do a check on the wsdl file and how you are passing values in the proxy. The tags for XML are not correct. Open the WSDL in IE and see there must be an error. Or probably when passing the actual values to the XML generated each element is not closed properly. Error says tags dont match.

Hi, I have a sign being advised Power PC Applications no longer supported when I try to go into Microsoft Word, Excel, Entourage & MSN Messenger, hoe do I resolve this? Any help appreciated Sorry, this is for a Mac Air

Most versions of Office 2008 use an Universal installer. A few have one which is PowerPC-only.
In any case, Mac OS X Server 10.6 can be run in emulation, and Rosetta applications can be run in it. Saying that PowerPC-only applications won't run in Mac OS X 10.7 is correct. Saying that they won't run on a Mac which shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 is not.

  • MSN Messenger uses wrong inbuilt webcam for video chat on triple screen set up. It uses a cinema display webcam not the iMac webcam.

For some strange reason if i attach my 2  apple cinema displays to my iMac to make a triple  screen set up msn messenger video chat does work but it uses the apple cinema display inbuilt webcam and not the iMac webcam. Its annoying as i have to turn sideways to get into the video call view.
So i have  a set up like this: an apple cinema display thunderbolt, then in the middle an iMac new then to the right of the iMac another apple thunderbolt cinema display. WWhen i use MSN messenger to make a video call it uses the inbuilt webcam on the far right apple thunderbolt cinema display and not the inbuilt webcam in the iMac in front of me, its annoying any ideas please.
If i unplug both side cinema displays MSN messenger uses the inbuilt camera on the iMac like normal but when  i use extra screens it uses the webcam built into those and not the iMacs webcam.

I would try with another client like skype or something
and if it's only msn messanger which have the problem it may
be more of a question for ms's forum?

  • Mac OS X Update (Power PC) 10.4.6 caused MSN Messenger, Internet Problems

Hey Guys, Heres my problem. A couple days ago my software update came up and i downloaded the new OS X update 10.4.6 (power PC). that was fine and when it was done I restarted my computer, and when i went to go on the internet it worked fine but once i opened MSN messenger and tried to sign in , it would let me sign in but once i get signed in there would be no one online and shortly after i would lose my internet connection. So in short form when i sign into msn it causes me to lose my internet connection. I have treid to download msn again but no difference and i have also tried AMSN and it does the same thing. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the new OS X update or not
If anyone could help me out with this, that would be great.
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Hi, Mike.
You might want to search or post on the "Microsoft Messenger for Mac" group you can find on the Microsoft Mac Support - Newsgroups page. These are Google Groups with active participation from MS Microsoft Messenger for Mac users, including a variety of expert users.
I don't mean to send you somewhere else, but I've found numerous answers there for folks with questions related to MS products. Accordingly, it has often proved to be the first, best place to look for answers to questions such as you are asking.
    Good luck!

  • Macbook Pro built-in iSight in Adium and MSN Messenger?

All of my contacts (about 100 or so) have MSN messenger accounts. Is there a way for me to use my built-in iSight as a webcam in Adium or MSN Messenger? It just seems pointless otherwise since I only know 2 or 3 other people with .mac or AIM accounts that I could chat to via iChat.
    Thanks

  • MSN Messenger and Address Book don't work in one account

I recently succumbed to pressure from my daughter to set up MSN Messenger for her, but couldn't make it work in her account. A window appeared for reporting the problem to Microsoft, and when I looked in More Information, it seemed to be something to do with Address Book. Crashed Module Name and Blame Module Name both said Address Book. When I tried opening Address Book separately, the Menu bar appeared but trying to click on anything just resulted in the revolving beach ball. There are five accounts on our iMac, and in all the others, both Messenger and Address Book open fine. Does this require drastic action, like deleting my daughter's account and setting up a new one? Or are there any preferences that could be trashed to sort it out? She has also reported problems with Safari, but I haven't checked that one out.

    ProwessLegacy,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Based on your description, if you refuse to reinstall the system again, may I suggest an Archive and Install as an alternative. It can preserve user and network settings with minimal disruption to your current installation.
You will have to reapply subsequent updates but it will be less of hassle than digging around for replacements for unknown missing components.
