Configure MSSQL database in portal/platform domain

Hi,
i have created a platform domain with the domain wizard. It runs fine with pointbase.
Now i want to change to my MS SQL database.
1. Is my db_properties file correct ? (connection with database name = portal)
2. Can someone mail me the config.xml file settings for the RDBMSRealm and the
JDBCConnectionPool's ?
Thanx

I made notes so I could do this with ease. Here they are:
Changing Portal Domain from default to SQL Server 2000
Delete pointbase folder from domain.
FILE: db_settings.properties
1) Comment out PointBase entries
2) Enter MSSQL properties:
(Note: This assumes a database named "cm" has been created on the local SQL
server and that a user with name and password = "weblogic" has been created
with dbo rights on database "cm". You'll need to change these to match your
SQL Server setup)
database=MSSQL
db_version=2000
jdbcdriver=weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver
server=localhost
port=1433
dblogin=weblogic
dbpassword=weblogic
connection=jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433
FILE: config.xml
Replace existing sections with the following SQL Server information
<JDBCConnectionPool
Name="commercePool"
DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver"
URL="jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433"
Properties="user=weblogic;password=weblogic"
InitialCapacity="20"
MaxCapacity="20"
CapacityIncrement="1"
RefreshMinutes="0"
ShrinkingEnabled="false"
Targets="portalServer"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="false"
TestTableName="WEBLOGIC_IS_ALIVE"
/>
<!-- DATASYNC -->
<JDBCConnectionPool

DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver"
URL="jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433"
Properties="user=weblogic;password=weblogic"
InitialCapacity="1"
MaxCapacity="5"
CapacityIncrement="1"
RefreshMinutes="0"
ShrinkingEnabled="false"
Targets="portalServer"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="false"
TestTableName="WEBLOGIC_IS_ALIVE"
/>
<RDBMSRealm DatabaseDriver="weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver"
DatabasePassword="weblogic"
DatabaseURL="jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433"
SchemaProperties="user=weblogic;password=weblogic"
Name="portalRealm"
RealmClassName="com.bea.p13n.security.realm.RDBMSRealm"/>
Run create_db.cmd script.
Note: If using Bedrock and this is a new domain run "ant ejbs" before
starting domain.
Start domain.
Run loadads.bat
Run loaddocs.bat

  • Problems configuring Platform Domain with MS Sql Server

    Hi,
    We are having problems configuring a Platform Domain with MS Sql Server 2000.
    We are using Weblogic version 7.0.0.2. These are the steps we followed
    1.We manually created a database called TestDB and created a user account called
    "system", pwd ==>> "weblogic" in SQL server and assigned him as the DB owner for
    the TestDB created.
    2. Changed dbsettings_properties files (Commented pointbase entries and uncommented
    SQL Server entries. I gave the connection parameter as connection=jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433
    in this file.
    3. Modified Config.xml and changed properties for DataSyncPool, WLIPool, CommercePool,WLIPool
    and modified the RDBMS realm properties to point to the database.
    4. ran the create_db script and it seemed to have run fine looking at the log
    file.
    5. I then tried to start the BEA Server instance and I get the following error.
    I am also attaching the config.xml file for reference.
    Appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks in Advance.

  • Deploy portal application in platform domain

    Hi,
    can i deploy portal application in platform domain?
    I have the EAR for an application developed in portal domain. Can i deploy the same application in platform domain?
    Is there any document related to this subject?

    hi Selva Kumar:
    Essentially your looking at developing a J2EE application and deploying it on the SAP Web Application Server. For that you would need to build a J2EE application / JAVA Project and bundle it into a EAR file. Deploy the EAR file onto the WAS and your good to go. For consuming the application u  can use the dynpro platform for building the UI and add the developed application jars as  reference projects. I hope this helps.

  • Errors encountered while using a Custom Security Realm on a Platform Domain

    Hi,
    We have created a WebLogic Platform Domain. A WebLogic Portal application(Portal

    We have created a Custom Security Realm b'cos of our application requirements
    and now when I startup the Platform Domain, I see lot of errors.
    Some of the errors typically are

    Hello Vikram,
    Are you using the new WLS 7.0 security framework? It is not supported for
    Portal 7.0. For Portal 7.0 apps you have to use compatibility mode (6.x
    style) security.

  • Portal installation: Domain or Local user?

    If you're reading this and running EP 6.0, can you please check how it's installed at your site? Is it running under a domain user (e.g., US\prdadm) or a Local user (e.g., <SERVERNAME>\prdadm).
    I was recently advised to install Portal using a Local user, not a Domain user.
    I understand the reasoning, and I trust the person who said it, but it's just awkward - I've never seen a production SAP system running (successfully) under a Local account before. But perhaps Portal is unique in the way it handles cross-domain authentication.
    And do you have cross-domain traffic?  For example, your portal server might be on the "US" domain but an R/3 database is on the "SAP" domain, can your users successfully logon to the R/3 system via the Portal?  Was any special saprouter or network config needed to get it working?

    Jason,
    NW04 (latest SP) supports cross domain traffice.
    Please refer to the procedure steps detailed in the SAPHELP link below & confirm you've followed & implemented them accordingly:
    "Configuring SAP Logon Tickets for Multiple Domains"
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e0/fa984050a13354e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    Via J2EE  Visual Admin Tool to edit the
    UME property "ume.login.mdc.hosts" may also be used, if this is what you desire with your installation.
    Global server config -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.services

    Kiran,
    First time around, the Custom realm was not authenticating the user. I gotthe
    code to authenticate the user successfully. Now the WebLogic serverwouldn't even
    start. It would give me an error message which says "User System is notauthorized
    to boot Weblogic Server". For your reference, I am attaching the Log file.My
    custom realm classes output some debugging statements in the log file.From the
    log file u will see that the users are getting authenticated successfully.
    Please let me know if you have a custom realm working for you. I might bemissing
    something.
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    We have created a WebLogic Platform Domain. A WebLogic Portalapplication(Portal
    7.0) and some Web Service apps are running on this domain.
    We have created a Custom Security Realm b'cos of our applicationrequirements
    and now when I startup the Platform Domain, I see lot of errors.
    Some of the errors typically are
    "<Jan 16, 2003 4:07:02 PM EST> <Error> <HTTP> <101256> <The run-asuser:
    wlisystem,
    for the servlet: ApplicationView for the webapp:/WLI_AI_Workshop_Control_Web,
    could not be resolved to a valid user in the system. Please check ifthe
    user
    exists.
    javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: Authentication Failed: Userwlisystem
    denied in Realm Adapter realm weblogic"
    or
    Unable to deploy EJB: wlai-eventprocessor-ejb.jar fromwlai-eventprocessor-ejb.jar:weblogic.ejb20.WLDeploymentException:
    weblogic.ejb20.interfaces.PrincipalNotFoundException: AuthenticationFailed: User
    wlisystem denied in Realm Adapter realm weblogic
    Do we have to create any predefined user accounts in the Security Storeto
    get
    rid of these errors. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest sometips or
    workarounds
    for configuring or creating a Custom Security Realm for Web Logic
    Platform
    Domain.

  • Error while creating JDBC connection pool for MSSQL database

    Hi,
    From my windows m/c, I am trying to configure a connection pool to connect to
    an MSSQL database on another m/c. While setting the targets, i get the error :-
    <Mar 11, 2004 6:17:52 PM GMT+08:00> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection
    pool "gcdb_connpool" Cannot load driver class: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver>
    I have added the path of the jars for the driver in the classpath.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi. Read the weblogic startup script, and follow how it creates
    a classpath argument for the server. You must get the driver jars
    into that classpath.

  • Error encountered while trying to use EJB control in a Platform Domain

    Hi,
    I've configured a Weblogic Platform domain and installed all the application EJB's
    thru a JAR file. When I try to access these EJB's from within Web Logic Workshop
    using the EJB Control, I am able to find the Home and the Remote interfaces and
    those boxes are populated correctly when I select the JNDI name from the Browse
    button. But when I click on the "Create" button in EJB Control dialog box, I get
    the following error
    "The EJB Home interface selected in Step 3 cannot be loaded. The client interfaces
    for the selected EJB must be present as individual classes in the WEB-INF\classes
    directory of this project or the EJB's client JAR file must be present in the
    WEB-INF\lib directory".
    I copied my EJB Jar file to the WEB-INF\lib folder also. But still it gives the
    same error message. Please let me know if I am missing something. Your help is
    greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pat,
    I've restarted the complete Platform Domain Weblogic instance and it worked.

    Hi,
    I'm using a workshop domain from WebLogic Platform 7.0 SP1.
    When you move the EJB classes (as a jar file) into the WEB-INF/lib directory,
    then you need to redeploy the web application. In your last note you
    mentioned
    redeploying the EJB, but not the web app. Have you tried redeploying
    the web
    app, after you move the EJB jar file into WEB-INF/lib?

    I've also
    tried using some of the standard EJB's like "BEA_commerce.CategoryManager"
    which
    are part of the Platform domain and I am still getting the same error.
    Are you working on a Weblogic Platform Domain or Weblogic workshop domain.
    Just
    wanted to confirm. Appreciate your help.

    EJB into WEB-INF/lib, I had ejbc create an EJB client jar and I moved
    that into
    my WEB-INF/lib directory. Then I redeployed the web application toload

  • DW CS4 Links to MSSQL Database, sees fields/data but won't display on webpage

    I'm trying to get a Dynamic Data Table to show in my webpage but I can't.  (Using ASP JavaScript)
    I'm using DW CS4 (10.0 build 4117) and connecting to an MSSQL database on a Windows platform server hosted by Verio.
    I can successfully link to the database, I can see my data correctly when I bind the record set and do a "Test SQL Statement" , see images below:
    My Design View of the page with the table shows the correct fields and looks like:
    Everything should look when I switch to Live View or view the page on a browser, right??  Well instead I get this:
    If the pic is unclear it says:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    /Test2009/Untitled-1.asp, line 5
    Line 5 of course refers to the ActiveConnection command which uses the INCLUDE file for the connection string.
    The Line 5 is
    Recordset1_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_PMCDonSQL_STRING;
    And the INCLUDE reverenced is:
    var MM_PMCDonSQL_STRING = "dsn=PMCSQL1;uid=pmcapp0010sql;pwd=FloraVista49;"
    These are parameters for logging into the MSSQL database (This is just a test database so showing password doesn't matter)":
    Server By Name:  SQLExpress4.mql14000.MSSQLServers.com,1433\SQLExpress4
    Server By IP:  128.121.85.21,1433\SQLExpress4
    Database Name:  pmcapp0010
    Login ID:  pmcapp0010sql
    Password: FloraVista49
    WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

    No one wanted to help me but I figured out that I was not referencing the DSN on the test server, only the local DSN.
    The information to connect to the MSSQL database given by my hosting company was not correct for Dreameweaver (or MS Access) either.

  • SR1 to SP14 Upgrade - Portal Platform Warning

    Hello all,
    I am upgrading the recently installed SR1 to SP12. I successfully applied the Patch for WEBAS J2EE server. Now I'm trying to apply Portal Platform patches. During the "Deploy EAR Files" phase (6 of 12), it gave a warning Message box saying "The deloplyment may require manual postprocessing. See output of logfile C:\ProgramFiles\sapinst_instdir\callSdmViaSapinst.log' and in the status Bar it said 'Finished but with Warning'.
    When I checked the log file i didnt fine any error or warning. It seems to me fine. Wonder what this message means.
    (During the WAS Upgrade i upgraded the Central Instance and I dont have any other dialog instances).
    But After I clicked Ok on the message box, the installation continued Normally and it seems to be going fine.
    Can anyone help me out in this ?
    Thanks.

    Eric,
    Thank you so much for answering me. It really helps.
    One more question before i end this thread. I am new to portals and we are installing Portal on the Test box. To demonstrate the upper authorities how it might help for the company. I have so far installed SR1 and now upgrading to SP14. I have not installed TREX so far but will be installing in future. We are installing everything onto one box. I have installed Oracle database, WEBAS, Portal and KMC on the same drive(D:). The drive capacity is 34GB and i have so far used 11.5 GB and left with like 22.5GB. So my question is if I install TREX on another Drive (E:), will 22.5GB space on D: sufficient for doing the development which includes ESS, MSS import and bit of development?

  • Can't connect to MSSQL database

    Hi,
    I'm very new to J2EE. I've been trying to get my JSPs to access my MSSQL database. I'm using JBoss as the application server.
    Here's what I've done:
    1. Downloaded and installed the MSSQL 2000 JDBC driver.
    2. Edited the \server\default\deploy\mssql-ds.xml file:
    <datasources>
    <local-tx-datasource>
    <jndi-name>MSSQLDS</jndi-name>
    <connection-url>jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://server1:1433;DatabaseName=Test;User=sa;Password=passwd;SelectMethod=Cursor</connection-url>
    <driver-class>com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver</driver-class>
    <DatabaseName>Test</DatabaseName>
    <user-name>sa</user-name>
    <password>passwd</password>
    <min-pool-size>100</min-pool-size>
    <max-pool-size>1000</max-pool-size>
    <blocking-timeout-millis>5000</blocking-timeout-millis>
    </local-tx-datasource>
    </datasources>
    3. I edited the "C:\jboss\bin\run.bat" file and inserted into the second line:
    "set CLASSPATH=c:\mssql_jdbc_driver\lib\mbase.jar;c:\mssql_jdbc_driver\lib\msutil.jar;c:\mssql_jdbc_driver\lib\mssqlserver.jar;"
    where C:\mssql_jdbc_driver is the folder where my *.jar files are located.
    4. I created a .jsp page like this:
    -----Start test.jsp -----------
    <%
    try {
    String sDBDriver = "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver";
    String sConnStr = "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;DatabaseName=multiplex;User=sa;Password=secret;";
    Class.forName(sDBDriver);
    java.sql.Connection conn = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(sConnStr);
    java.sql.Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    java.sql.ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select 'Multiplex' As Name");
    while (rs.next()) { %>
    <%= rs.getString("Name") %><br>
    <%}
    catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe)
    System.err.println("Unable to load MSSQL database driver!");
    System.err.println("ClassNotFoundException: " + cnfe.getMessage());
    %>
    ------End test.jsp -----------------------
    5. But then when I run test.jsp, I get a ClassNotFoundException saying its not able to load the MSSQL driver.
    Have I missed out some configuration step? I've been searching all avenues of support for 3 days but still can't get it working. Can someone help, please?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your replies.
    The database should be "Test", sorry.
    I find the JBoss documentation isn't very beginner-friendly. And I can't get a reply from the JBoss forums. Does anyone who has worked with JBoss know where I should define the CLASSPATH for the MSSQL jar files?
    Actually if someone could point me to step-by-step instructions on how to set up a database connection to MSSQL from JBoss in a Windows environment, I would be very very grateful...

  • Owb92 demo: How to configure workflow database link?

    Hi,
    I follow the doc for owb92 demo, but got error while deploying the wh_proc_loc. The error is as follows. How do configure workflow database link on owb? Thanks.
    RPE-02085: Failed to test wb_rti_workflow_util.initialize through deployed Workflow Database Link ORCL.US.ORACLE.COM@WB_LK_LD_OLAP. Please check that "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege is set and that the OWB Runtime is available.

    Have you checked whether none of the specified errors applies?
    - The user needs the "EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE" privilege

  • Connections to MSSQL database

    Hi SDN.
    A long time ago some had developed a jspdynpage application on a MSSQL database using a jdbcconnector. Sometimes we get a connection error, and we have to restart the portal. We think that it might be that there are to many open connections.
    Is there anywhere that I can see these open connections?
    Where do I set up how many connections are allowed?
    Our portal is 6.0.2.41
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
    check the SAP Library section <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/2d/292391fa6745488f3e0e0d4b03c64e/frameset.htm">Managing Connection Pooling</a>. There you will find detailed instructions how to set maximum number of connections.

  • How to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support pack

    Hi,
    I did the Support Pack Upgrade for BW system and i ran SGEN as well, now i need to configure the database , could you please suggest how to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support Pack Upgrade.
    Server is MSSQL , Component is SAP NetWeaver 2004s and OS is Windows NT.
    Plesae suggest.
    Chandu.

    Hi,
    You are right. SAP delivers this functionality from SP-12. So when you have applied the SP-12, you must have done these config steps to enable the DBA Cockpit.
    If you have done these steps earlier, So you must have DBA Cockpit enable right now and putting extra SPs like 13, 14 and so on, should not be a matter.
    Now if you have not performed those config steps before, Please do them now and you will be able to use DBA cockpit.
    Please understand that SP12 is the base to run DBA Cockpit.
    With Regards,
    Saurabh
