Configure port vlan on nexus 5k

i made a change to one port on the first nexus 5k to vlan 24 on port 102/1/45. but looks like i had to make the same change to the other nexus 5k.
why is that? is it because both ports are in a port channel?

Is that N2K FEX dual homed to two Nexus 5Ks?
Also is vlan 24 a vpc vlan? 
 if it is, the yes you have to configure both parent switches with the same configurations . 
You can also do config-sync but i suggest you just manually hardcode both ports in the N5Ks.

    Hi All,
    The architecture in the attachment doesnt require redundancy and hence has a single N5k with N2k as FEX. The setup is working fine except for the management vlan and mgmt 0 interface being down.
    As of now, mgmt0 interface has no link connected to it. The VLAN for nexus management is also down as mgmt0 cant be assigned to vlans.. Configuring management IP to Loopback interface also doesnt allow adding the same to management vlan.
    Is mgmt0 an RJ45 compatible port with N5596? and is there a way I can have out of band management for Nexus 5596? Is there a way I can assign a management IP to the FEX?

    Hello Balachandhar,
    Mgmt interface on N5K exists to provide out of band management to the device.
    Mgmt interface belongs to management vrf. You can reach the N5K on mgmt interface once you configure IP to mgmt interface and connect it to upstream switch port belonging to mgmt vlan.
    The FEX cannot be seperately managed. You need to connect to the parent N5K device and manage it.

  • Strange Port VLAN ID Mismatch on Nexus 5672 after upgrading to NX-OS 7.1(0)N1(1)

    Dear all,
    I'm currently in the process of configuring two Nexus 5672 Switches for our Network. I connected one of the switches to our catalyst 3750 Core using trunks on each side. Everything worked just fine - the link came up and I was able to manage the Nexus using the SVI I created in VLAN1.
    However, after upgrading the Nexus 5672 from NX-OS 7.0(2)N1(1) to 7.1(0)N1(1), the connection between the Nexus and the Catalyst 3750 is broken - the corresponding port on the Nexus (eth 1/1) is blocked by STP due to a Port VLAN ID mismatch and it chooses itself to be the root bridge:

    I've also read through the Release Notes for NX-OS 7.1(0)N1(1) and haven't found anything that sounds suspicous. Do you think this might be a bug or could it also be another problem?

    Thank you - an additional indication that this is a bug indeed. I'm trying 7.1(0)N1(1a) today, if it doesn't work either I'll downgrade to NX-OS Release 7.NX-OS Release 7.0(5)N1(1a) which is the recommend Version to use anyway. I'll post the results here.
    I'll also check with our distributor how we can inform Cisco about a potential bug.

  • How do I Configure Multiple VLANs on a SG 200-18?

    I am having problems accomplishing these tasks with my new SG 200-18.
    All assistance is appreciated.
    I have a LinkSys WRT54G2 connected to port 1.
    I would like ports 2-8 to be in one VLAN with access to the Internet and to be able to share their printers, hard drives, etc. with other computers on ports 2-8.
    I would like each of ports 9-16 to be on a separate VLAN with access only to the Internet and no other ports on the switch.
    I would like to be able to manage the switch from any of the ports 2-8.
    After I create the VLAN 1009 (see screenshot below), port 9 can browse the Internet and cannot see the other ports on the switch which is correct.
    However, ports 2-8 can no longer access the switch at 192.168.1.20 in order to manage the switch.

    Well first you want to make sure you are running latest firmware 1.1.1.8 I do believe
    Next either console into the switch or you can turn on SSH/Telnet under Web gui (Security••àTCP/UDP services and make sure SSH/Telent is enabled)
    Now we configure the switch via Cli
    We need to enter global configuration mode.
    Configure Terminal
    (next add our vlans)
    Vlan database
    Vlan 10
    Vlan 20
    Vlan 30
    Exit
    (you can run show command to see your vlans)
    do show vlan
    (Now configure the port how you would like)
    Interface GE1
    Switchport mode access   (this is making Gigabit port 1 an access port)
    Switchport access vlan 20 (this command is changing access port vlan from 1 to 20)
    (less configure a trunk port)
    Interface GE2
    Switchport mode trunk (this makes port 2 for trunking)
    (Now less add our Vlans)
    Switchport trunk native vlan 1
    Switchport trunk allowed vlan add 10,20,30
    Exit global configuration
    (Use this command to copy your settings to startup)
    Copy running-config startup-config

    I see you have a WRT54G router which i don't think support vlans unless you have 3rd party OS installed.
    So currently is the SG300 swtich operating in layer 2 or layer 3 , guessing this is why you choose to move up to 300 series switch?
    If the switch is not in layer 3 mode but in layer2 when setting it to layer3 the switch will default all pervious settings.
    If the switch is set in layer 3 mode you might have forgot your default route
    (Command setting default route)
    configure terminal
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1  (192.168.1.1 being address of your WRT54G)
    Now you would need to set up ACL's to deny and allow what traffic you wanted to filter on the SG300
    Also reading your post we would need you to call into support center SBSC @ 1-866-606-1866
    This way we could get a better idea of your current configuration and assist with fixing or finding a solution for you.

    I'm following this
    guide I'm getting an error when running the below command:
    Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -vmname PurpleVM1 -Isolated -PrimaryVlanId 2 –SecondaryVlanId 4
    Generates the following error:
    Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan : The operation failed.
    Failed while applying switch port settings 'Ethernet Switch Port VLAN Settings' on switch 'New Virtual Switch': One or
    more arguments are invalid (0x80070057).
    A parameter that is not valid was passed to the operation.
    Does anyone know why this is happening?

    It seems that there is a configuration conflict on the virtual switch port .
    Also I tested the command on my lab , it works .
    For troubleshooting please  create a new virtual switch then try to configure again .

  • RV120W 1.0.2.6 Port VLAN

    I recently upgraded from 1.0.1.3 to 1.0.2.6. I tried to change on of my port VLANs and couldn't find the port vlan configuration anymore. After a lot of searching, I reloaded 1.0.1.3, reconfigured the port vlans and then reloaded 1.0.2.6. All is fine now.
    I reread all the notes, and I can't find anything on changes to port vlan. Am I missing it in the configuration areas, or was it eliminated?

    No VLANing functionality and mapping wireless to a VLAN is sort integral to the unit.
    It's got to be there.
    I know the newest version of code was also designed  to improve the usability of the GUI, so i guess thaings may have changed around a bit.
    The Admin guide referenced below, does suggest on page 30;

    So it looks like the GUI may have  gone from port vlan to vlan membership, but I have loaned out my RV120W to a Cisco partner and cannot personally confirm this.
    Enabling VLANs
    STEP 1 Choose Networking > LAN (Local Network) > VLAN Membership.
    STEP 2 Check the Enable box.
    STEP 3 Click Save
    Creating a VLAN
    You can create up to four VLANs on the Cisco RV120W.
    STEP 1 Choose Networking > LAN (Local Network) > VLAN Membership.
    STEP 2 In the VLAN Membership Table, click Add Row.
    STEP 3 Enter a numerical VLAN ID that will be assigned to endpoints in the VLAN
    membership.
    The VLAN ID can range from 2 to 4094. VLAN ID 1 is reserved for the
    default VLAN, which is used for untagged frames received on the interface, and
    VLAN ID 4092 is reserved and cannot be used.

  • Multiple ports vlan trunking

    Hello, I recently purchased a 3560 switch and I am relatively new with VLANs.
    What I need to do is quite simple:
    I need multiple fastethernet ports into multiple VLANs on a single switch. For that, I need to trunk these ports but nothing seems to work properly.
    I created multiple VLANs (vlan 100, 200 and 300), but by default each VLAN can see each other (my allowed vlan list is set to ALL on each port).
    When I setup the restrictions of that allowed vlan list, the problem is each port see each other. Example: Port 0/22 is set allowed vlan 100,200 .. but that port still can see vlan 300. I configured Native VLAN on VLAN50 (empty VLAN) for each port on the switch.
    I tried on a 3560 and a 2950, but exactly the same problem occurs.
    The problem is really basic but I'm on it since 1 week. Is there anyone who could help me please?

    If you want to remove the vlan from the trunk, you can simply use below command :
    switchport trunk allowed vlan remove 300

  • Configure 2 VLANs SG-200-26P using WRVS4400N

    I would like to configure two VLANs on my SG-200-26p switch. Using port 25 for VLAN 1 and port 26 for VLAN 2 coming from my WRVS4400N. Then assign individual port (1-24) to one or the other VLAN.
    My router has 2 VLANs private (1) Public (2). Private is conifured for ports 1, 3&4 and private wireless. Public configured port 2 and public wireless.
    Each work fine with different IPs on each VLAN.
    Can I configure the Switch as mentioned above using port 25 and 26? Is there instructions somewhere?

    It sounds like you are very close to making this work. You simply need to create VLAN 2 on the switch and assign ports to each VLAN.
    Go to VLAN Managgement-> Create VLAN and Add.
    VLAN ID: 2
    VLAN Name: Guest
    Go to Port VLAN Membership and click Join VLAN... at the bottom. Select port 26 from the dropdown. In the right box, select 1UP and use the left arrow to move it to the left box. Then select 2 from the left box and choose Untagged at the bottom. Use the right arrow to move 2UP to the right box. Now port 26 is a member of VLAN 2 untagged.
    Do the same for any other port that you want to be a member of VLAN 2.
    You can also create a Trunk port between the WRVS4400N and SG200 which will pass both VLAN 1 and 2 over the same connection. In that case on both the router and switch make the port a trunk and add VLAN 1 Tagged and VLAN 2 Untagged.

  • Configure port channel between IO Module and FI

                       Hi,
    I have the current setup
    UCS chassis (4 uplinks) --> FI --> (Port channel) --> N5K --> (port channel) --> VSS 6500
    I configure port channel between IO Module and the FI by changing to policy to "Port Channel" and set the link to 4
    FI has created a portchannel under "Internal" containing all the FI interfaces that are connected to the IO module.
    I have installed ESXI on a blade but i was unable to reach it, even the esx was unable to ping the gateway.
    VLAN tagging is enabled from the ESX server.
    I have issued the command "show mac address-table | inc <mac address of the vnic assigned from thre service profile> on both the N5K and thr 6500 and the mac is there.
    I have allowed all the vlans on the vNIC from the service profile.
    am I missing anything?

    I know when you have for example two uplink ports that belong at the same vlan, and two or more vNICs asociated at this vlans, pinning happen dinamically
    I know how configure a VLAN and assign it to an vNIC
    But I can't found how to associate the uplink port to this VLAN in UCS manager
    Can anybody help me please

    Al,
    In the end-host mode for the ethernet, once you define the vlan in the UCSM the vlan is automatically assgined / configured on all the uplink and the server ports.

    What I want to achieve is to send all the VLAN 8, 17, 34, 35 from 2960 to 3750 and 3750 to 2960. But at the same time prevent 2960 A client from talking to 2960 B client on VLAN 35? 

    I believe that if both devices you want no to speak with each other are on 2960 the "switchport protected" should work.
    But you can configure with private vlan.
    let's say client A is in port f0/1 and client B in port f0/2
    Parent (main) VLAN is 100 and child is 999
    You would configure the VLANs in ALL switches.
    vlan 999
    private-vlan isolated
    vlan 100
    private-vlan primary
    private-vlan association 999
    Now you would need to configure the ports.
    int range f0/1 - 2
    switchport mode private-vlan host
    switchport private-vlan host-association 100 999
    If the interfaces will talk to other VLANs, you need to configure the SVI to understand it will serve the private VLANs.
    interface vlan 100
    private-vlan mapping 999
    That's it, but notice that now interface f0/1 will not talk to f0/2 and to any other interface inside vlan 100, if you want a port to communicate to f0/1 or f0/2 this new port would need to be configured as a promiscuous one (In case it needs to talk to both of them) or create a community private-vlan and configure the ports desired on it. (F0/1 and F0/2 can't be on the same community VLAN or they'll be able to talk to each other).
    If the intention is to prevent one specific port from talking to all the others, you can put only this interface in the private VLAN instead of both.
    wrote too much, if this answers your question let me know, or we can create a practical scenario for it.

    how many ports are you using in this port channel.
    can you paste the configuration of the channel ports and the interface.
    check the sh log if you are getting any log related to the port channeling.

  • Need help configuring multiple VLANs and SSIDs

    Hi,
    We bought a Cisco SGE2000P 24Port switch and 10 WAP4410N access points. Our intent is to provide a secure network to our LAN, and a guest network to the Internet.
    We are thinking 3 VLANs would be best for this: VLAN 100 connected to the LAN, VLAN 1000 for the Internet Router and Filter, and VLAN 1100 for the Guest Wireless access.
    We have the switch configured for all three of these, and 1 initial access point configured for the VLANS, too.
    We have not yet moved the current Internet connection to VLAN 1000 because we aren't sure how to setup routing between VLANS.
    Here are some specifics on how the traffic needs to route:
    1. We have the DHCP server, which is the PDC, handling both scopes for the LAN and Guest VLAN.
    2. The web filter in VLAN 1100 needs to authenticate with the DHCP server as there are different filter rules based on authenticated user. Any users coming from VLAN 1100 will have a default filter rule without requiring any authentication.
    3. Certain traffic coming in from the Internet needs to be able to get to VLAN 100. The router has a built-in firewall that handles NAT and port forwarding, so as long as traffic can be forwarded to VLAN 100 we should be good.
    4. Traffic on VLAN 1100 (guest Wireless network) should only be allowed to go to Internet (VLAN 1000).
    Right now I have the VLANs configured and the ports assigned to the Access Points are set for TAGGED and on VLAN 100 and VLAN 1100.
    The SGE2000P has the following IP addresses assigned to the VLANS:
    10.7.3.252 - VLAN 100
    10.7.40.254 - VLAN 1000
    192.168.254.254 - VLAN 1100
    Has anyone been able to setup a similar configuration? We have scoured the Internet for documentation but it seems to be very difficult to find!

    Based on your description of a 'Hybrid Port' this sounds like Cisco's 'Multi-VLAN Port' that was a feature of the 2900XL/3500XL series switches. This feature has however long since gone......
    With a Cisco switch an access port supporting an Access VLAN & a Voice VLAN is effectively a Trunk with only one Tagged VLAN and the Native VLAN:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan 10
    switchport voice vlan 100
    This results in the same configuration as:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 10
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 100
    With the exception of CDP packets being sent advertising the Voice VLAN.
    With regards to other IP Phone vendors and DHCP Vendor Options - the answer is it depends....
    Nortel use Vendor Option 144 to inform the IP Phone of the Voice VLAN and Option 128 for the Server (PBX) to use. Ericsson uses Vendor Option 43 that can be configured to tell the IP Phone the VLAN and the Web server to read the config file from.
    I don't think you will get this working automatically with your 3Com switches, you can however manually configure the VLAN on the Cisco IP Phones.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 no possibility to configure Port

    My OS is Win 8.1 (last release), last Printer Driver version, last Printer Install Wizard used.
    My first Printer "HP Officejet Pro 8600" folling down about Screen issue. I do an exchange with same model, i unsinstall and reinstall the full with wizard, now I have some trouble to recognise the Printer.
    - Some time, no comunication
    - Some time, the print come after error Printer comunication.
    If I go to "Properties/Port/Configure Port" I received "Error Message"
    >> An error occured during port configuration.
    >> The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
    Could be an old key stay on Registry  (with old printer link)
    I do unsinstall and reinstall the fuul wizard without success.
    Now the Scan function doesn't run and the print run after delay.
    Major remarq:
    I have no problem with MAC, OS 9.x to 10.10.1

    Let's verify the following:
    Right click on Computer, then click on Properties and locate the Computer name.
    Ensure it is written in English characters and without any special characters.. modify t if required.
    From the Control Panel go to Programs and Features, uninstall the HP Officejet 8600 Basic Driver and Software.
    Click both the Windows Logo and the R keys of your keyboard to launch the Run dialog.
    Type %temp% and click on OK.
    Locate and open the HP installation folder, it will start with the 7z characters.
    Open the utils folder.
    open the x64 folder for a 64-bit operating system or the x86 for a 32 bit OS. if you aren't sure simply try both of the folders, if it is not intended for your OS an error will appear..
    Launch the RemovePreinstalledDrivers.exe file and allow it to complete.
    Once you are done, go back to the 7z folder and launch Setup.exe to reinstall the HP software.
    Reboot your PC once you are done and check again.

    I've a UC520 running with uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M5. I try to change VLAN on the switchport using snmp however look like the UC520 doesn't support "vmVlan".

    What do you mean by dumb siwthc? What model/make/company is that switch?
    Can you try to do the reset of the switch so that it wipe off all the config what so ever present on the box and then try to connect the switch to the router?
