Configure SG500X using Cisco Configuration Assistant (CCA)

Hi,
I have a couple of SG500X Switches which need to be configured and I wanted to do this with a central managed tool to have an uncomplicated way to configure the switches.
I already found Cisco Configuration Assistant, which supports the 200 and 300 Series but does not seem to support 500 Series. Also I found the Cisco Network Assistant which only supports Catalyst Switches.
Is there a tool which can be used to centrally configure and manage SG500X switches?

Is there really no tool for the 500 Series?
Seems strange to me, as 300 and lower have the CCA and Catalyst have CNA, only the 500 don't have any tool.

Cisco Network Assistant restore problem

Hi,
Recently been using Cisco Network Assistant 5.4 to back up the configuration of my Catalyst 3500XL switches. However, yesterday for the first time I tried using the Maintenance/Configuration Archive Restore function to load the configuratin on a factory default switch. The restore went well, and I can see my settings in running-config. But as soon as the config loaded and the switch reset was done, all of the FastEthernet ports were not working. Resetting the switch to factory default does restore the ports. Tried this Resore on a second switch and the same thing happened. The port status show as "FastEthernet0/1 is down, link protocol is down". This port is enabled in the configuration. I can't see any reason for the ports to drop out after reloading the configuration..... can anyone point me in the right direction?

figured out what the problem was. The laptop I was using to program the Cisco switches had been used the previous week to program some PLCs, so the laptop ethenet port was set to 10MBs/Half Duplex. The running-config of the switches has "speed 100, duplex full" set for all the ports. So before the configuration was loaded, the ethernet port connections worked, I didn't notice I was connecting at 10/Half. Once the Restore was done, it would drop all connections like the laptop trying to connect at 10MBs. So all the ports 'appeared' to be dead, when they were just waiting for a 100MBs connection.

Cisco network assistant username

hi everyone !
i have two stacked 3750 and i use cisco network assistant for remote access.
i have created a user witch the following command :
username <myusername> privilege 15 password 0 <mypassword>
i would like to force the use of that username/password for network assistant : i can currently login with my enable password (without username), and that is something i do not want.
it would be great if someone could help me doing this

i've seen just now that network assistant access the stack with HTTP.
is there any mean to limit HTTP access to one user ?

Problem using template in database configuration assistant Oracle 10g

Hi,
I created a database using the database configuration assistant for Oracle 10g on a Windows Server 2003 box. The database I created worked perfectly, and I had saved it as a template so I could save some time when creating similar databases (which I have to do on occasion)
When I try to use the template though, I get an error (at about 4% through the database creation) saying:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-09314: sltln: error translating logical name
I'm creating this new database on the same server as the one I created my previous database on and NOTHING has changed on it, I did this just minutes apart and can duplicate it at will (just try and use a template)

Using Database Configuration Assistant

i m using Database Configuration Assistant in Windows2000....when i try to create a new template using the structure of a current running database(ORCL)...i m having a problem....it asks for a DBA usernam,e and password and Service name to connect to the database which structure is to be used for creating a database template ....i have service name ORCL....and it is working whn i try to conect using SQLPLUS...but when i use this service ORCL to connect here i receive error
VBD-2000 SERVICE ALIAS COULD NOT BE RESOLVED
why i m receiving this error???

Ensure that service is registered in the listener.ora file, reload the listener and ensure that service is an entry of the tnsnames.ora file.

When using OID configuration assistant, and after modifying super user password page, the OID stops, and i get on the console, the error : " Configuration Exception, error number 16".
I have done this operation a second time, and the error is now 5.
I don't know what these errors means, and where i can find a solution, or an explication, do you know where ??

ORA-12514 Error when using Net Configuration Assistant

I have recently installed Oracle 11g on a Windows 2008 server and am now trying to connect via the Oracle client on my local machine.
Here is how I've been using Net Configuration Assistant so far:
Listener Configuration
The name of my listener is LISTENER_PROXIMA (proxima is the name of the server). Does this need to be named something else? Something specific?
I'm using TCP to connect.
I'm using standard port 1521.
Naming Methods
Local Naming and Easy Connect Naming
Local Net Service Name
Service name is ADMI04 (checked this against the lsnrstl service status on the server and it's correct)
Using TCP
Using the hostname proxima.domain-name.com
I'm attempting to connect as SYS (but have tried others with the same result)
When I go to test the connection I keep getting the ORA-12514 error. Does anyone know what I should do? Reinstall the listener? If so, are there any suggestions or guidance for that?

A couple of important points.
First, the listener is a server side only process. It's entire purpose in life is to receive requests for connections to databases and set up those connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It doesn't sustain the connection. One listener, with the default name of LISTENER, running from one oracle home, listening on a single port, will serve multiple database instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is an unnecessary complexity to try to have multiple listeners or to name the listener as if it belongs to a particular database. That would be like the telephone company building a separate switchboard for each customer.
Second, the tnsnames.ora file is a client side issue. It's purpose is for address resolution - the tns equivalent of the 'hosts' file further down the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host machine is because that machine can also run client processes.
Assume you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:

)Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
$> sqlplus scott/tiger@larrytns will look in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called 'larry'. Next, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) using (PROTOCOL = TCP), asking for a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).
Where is (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request gets passed from tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name 'myhost' will get resolved to an IP address, either via a local 'hosts' file, via DNS, or possibly other less used mechanisms. You can also hard-code the ip address (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.
Next, the request arrives at port 1521 on myhost. Hopefully, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and that listener knows about SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.
What can go wrong?
First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames. In that case you get "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" No need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc. If you can't place a telephone call because you don't know the number (can't find your telephone directory (tnsnames.ora) or can't find the party you are looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look for problems at the telephone switchboard.
Maybe the entry for larry was found, but myhost couldn't be resolved to an IP address (say there was no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe there was an entry for myserver in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe the IP was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, but it is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, it is listening on the specified port, but doesn't know about SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"

Trouble using configuration assistant

whenever i try setting up a database using the configuration assistant i get the following error messages:

being new to oracledb i have no clue what is causing this. help is appreciated.

Comment out the below line in your $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora file. This is as per Metalink Note:365046.1(step 3 of solution) what's being installed is different but the error has the same error messages and solution I think.

Hi all
I have set up a dial up connection between to PC's at remote site and center. It using ISDN 30B+D which is configured on Router 3845. Currently I have configured authentic connection with username and password using Cisco ACS. To enhance the security configuration I want to authenticate both the phone number which dialup with Cisco ACS. And currently I have not done this. Please help me solve this problem.

Error when creating data base using Database Configuration Assistant

Hi!
I have installed Oracle 9i release 2 in Windows Xp, I want to create a db from the Database Configuration Assistant but they appear the following errors:
ORA 01034
ORA 01501
ORA1109
I press the button to ignore but they continue appearing.. when the process arrives the 12% they stopped.... When i installed the Oracle appeared a pair of errors but when i press the Ignore button the process continued and finish satisfactorily....
Any Suggestion???

Oracle error description
ORA-01034 ORACLE not available
Cause: Oracle was not started.
Possible causes include the following:
1) The SGA requires more space than was allocated for it.
2) The operating-system variable pointing to the instance is improperly defined.
Action: Refer to accompanying messages for possible causes and correct the problem mentioned in the other messages. If Oracle has been initialized, then on some operating systems, verify that Oracle was linked correctly. See the platform-specific Oracle documentation.

SG300 not authenticated in Configuration Assistant

Hello, I am fairly new to the Cisco Switches and just recently received an SG300-28, I have changed it to L3 and setup the IP along with 3 LAGS and everything is working great, I am currently setting up 3 SG300-10P that will connect to the 28 and was hoping to use the Configuration Assistant but the switches will not Authenticate. It eventually finds the main switch but always asks for as username and password for the "REALM ADMIN" which I am not sure what that is and then it says it can't Authenticate. I have enabled Telnet and SSH but I am thinking I may have something set wrong or missed something. I can Telnet into the switch and see the config and change the config but still no luck.
Any help would be appreciatted.

Limited access for configuration assistant

Hello,
Is there a way to allow a non-admin rights into the configuration assistant, so that they can only make certain changes.
An example would be: Someone from a communications department wants to make changes to the auto attendant message.

Hi Jim,
I would encourage you to use Office Manager 2 for that, it has limited functionality compared to CCA and is best suited for making the ad-hoc adds/moves/changes and is simple for a lay person to use.

sorry, a little bit late but i had the same problem.
/oracle/oms10g/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
simple make the link "ln -s libdb.so.3 libdb.so.2" in the /usr/lib directory.
