Configure Update Lock

Hi
I have a requirement that in few series User shouldn't be able to enter Negative number.I am trying to use the "Configure Update Lock" to achieve the same. The details entered in Configure Update Lock screen are
Name: Lock Series A
Expression: Series Name < 0
Message: Number should not be negative
Save it and restart application server.
I found that it is not working as intended ..means even if i enter a number greater or less than 0 then also i am getting the message and data is not getting saved.
Is the expression correct or do i need to change it ?
2) If the series is already having Negative number and then i want to make use of "Configure Update Lock" to mention something like that from a particular date onwards system should not allow to enter Negative number then what should be the expresssion ? I tried to use If condtion but getting message like "Value should be True/Flase'
Any response is highly appreciated.
Thanks

  • "CONFIGURATION INSTALLATION" locks up for Leopard 10.5.2

My computer seems to lock-up when trying to "update" from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2.
On 6 occasions on different weeks, I let the computer run the configuration update, and on one occasion left it running for 12 hours. It simply hangs up and the blue bar (during "configuration installation) goes about 1/8th of an inch and sits there. I've run this for 7 hours, all the way to 12 hours and the blue bar just seems to lock up. I have to power down and re-boot.
Can someone advise (in plain English) what the steps are to correct this? Please be gentle, I still think *kernel panic* is when I was making pop corn on the stove in 1956 on mom's electric stove top and unpopped corn goes flying in the kitchen...
    Thanks,
[email protected] (My first Apple was a LISA circa 1983 at $9,995!)

Start with the basics... Are you installing from Software Update or have you downloaded the combo update and manually run it?
I would recommend you download and run the combo, and not use Software Update.
Prior to install, backup everything! Then double check that you have backed up everything! You've been lucky 6 times - don't wait for #7 to be unlucky and render your Mac inoperable before thinking of backup.
Before you run the updater, power down and restart it. Run Disk util and repair permissions. Check the disk to see if there are any issues with it too. If so, repair these prior to updating (post here for more help as disk issues may not be as easy to repair as clicking "repair disk").
Just let it do it's thing. If it hangs for more than 30 mins I'd say restart it (it shouldn't take all that long really - hats off to you for having 12 hrs worth of patience!). If it fails again, come back and let us know we can help you through checking out some logs.

  • FWSM Stuck - Configuration update in progress by another process....

    Hi,
I am not able to go into configuration mode of FWSM. Upon 'config t', I get 'Configuration update in progress by another process....'
    I read thru following article.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/mod_icn/fwsm/fwsm_3_1/fwsm_cfg/mgacc_f.htm
It talks about how to avoid this in future i.e. using pager lines 0.
But how can I get out of it while being stuck. I have disconnected the sessions from Cat6500. What else should I do to get out of the stuck state.
    Thanks.

    Hi guys,
sorry, I know that this is a very old post but I just got the same problem yesterday with our FWSM. One of my coworkers logged into the device and he did a show run, and the session just got locked at the more prompt (the actual session just timed out). Google brought me to this post trying to solve the issue with no luck.
We were actually very lucky as we always console into our devices using a management router, so it was just a matter of killing all the telnet sessions from that management router to the FWSM, and that fixed the issue:
    1) Show the active sessions:
    CE_MGMT_RT01#sh sessions
    2) kill all the sesssions to the FWSM
    CE_MGMT_RT01#kill 1 (or 2, 3, ...,etc)
Just thought of posting my solution in case someone comes across this problem. It bloody took me around two hours to figure this out. The only catch is that you have had consoled into the device using an intermediate device, otherwise, don't know which would be the solution.
    Alex.

  • Wont get past "configuring updates stage 3 of 3 0%" and wont let me log into computer..HELP!!!

heres a picture of the screen i keep getting.
-HP Pavilion dv6700 as you can see its home premium
i kept getting a vista spyware alert saying i had 34 infected files and wouldn't stop and i also tried updating some things on my laptop while i updated to the new internet explorer 9. around 12noon today i rebooted my laptop to get all the updates to work and i got this configuring updates screen and was like ok. it kept going. it does it for a while, shuts down and restarts and goes back i didnt think anything was wrong made it to stage 3 and wont stop and move on from 0%. its now 10pm and its been doing it all day. ive tried shutting it down and rebooting myself but no matter what i do, it wont let me access my computer to do anything. i have avast virus protection but it said it was unable to move viruses to chest i pressed repair and it said it was postponed until next reboot so i did it this morning and figured its taking so long maybe because its trying to repair them but im sure it doesnt take 10 hours...im extremely upset. someone please help. and also, anyone know how i can get the viruses out? i dont have money for a better protection right now so im using my moms computer but she works on it so its hard. hp said they cant help because my warrenty is up, was a 1 year warrenty, got laptop in 2008 and warrenty expired in 2009. please help me.

After installing updates from Windows Update, you may get into a Reboot loop where you machines gets to “configuring updates 3 of 3. x% complete” then freezes or reboots.
    Solution:
1a. Boot from the Windows System Repair Disc and choose the repair option in the lower left hand corner, choose System Restore, and select a Restore Point predating the attempted installation of the updates.
1b. If you don't have the DVD and the Vista/W7 came preinstalled on the machine, boot to the Recovery Environment using F8 at the HP logo during boot, choose "repair your computer" from the list, let RE load and do a system restore from there.
If restore fails, load the recovery environment command prompt and enter:
    Del C:\Windows\winsxs\pending.xml
exit recovery environment and restart the pc, you may get 3 of 3 again but be patient, the desktop should load. Create a manual restore point and Turn off Windows  Automatic updates until you can figure out which update caused the loop.
If you get it booting again:
    You may be infected
Follow the order given below to disinfect your PC
1.) On a PC that is Not infected, Make a boot AV disc then boot from the disc on the Infected PC and scan the hard drive, remove any infections it finds, I prefer the Kaspersky disc myself. The New 2010 Kaspersky disc can update the AV dat files if you are connected to the internet at the time of scan and is suggested to update before the scan.
    http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/
    2.) Then boot into Windows:
Install free MBAM, run the program and go to the Update tab and update it, then go to the Scanner Tab and do a quick scan, select and remove anything it finds.
    http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
3.) When MBAM is done install SAS free version, run a quick scan, remove what it automatically selects.
    http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
These last 2 are not AV softwares like regular Anti Virus Software, they are on demand scanners that only scan for nasties when you run the program and will not interfere with your installed AV, these can be run once a day or week to ensure you are not infected. Be sure you update them before each daily-weekly scan.

  • Have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!

have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!
The configure bar gets about an 1/8 full and then just does nothing. I think its lists the update as combo update? cant remember with out checking.
I have tried to do the disk verify and repair but this has made no difference.
Please let me know what i need to do, I have reformatted the mac just to start over as was clogged with a lot of useless data, I had installed lion (10.7) from the app store previously and now cant seem to find a way to re install lion. I hope I dont need to pay for it again?

If you erased your hard drive, you'll need to reinstll OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to access the App store. You won't have to pay for OS X 10.7 Lion again. Did you try booting to the recovery partition by holding the command and r keys down? If that's still there, you can reinstall OS X 10.7 from there.
If you're looking to install the current iTunes, you need OS X 10.6.8 at a minimum.
If you're still trying to update OS X 10.5 Leopard, you can download the combo update from here.  Download, use Disk Utility to repair permissions, apply the update, then repair permissions again. That will take you to OS X 10.5.8.

  • Login not working after configuration update

I have a Pavilion g6-2235us running Windows 8 Metro. Yesterday afternoon my screen said "System Configuration/Updates in progress ... do not power off" This morning when I turned on my laptop ... it went to the metro login screen name and when I entered my password ...it said Welcome then went back to the login screen. Tried this a few times with the same results.
Also, my Admin user name was gone and when I booted to "Recovery" there were no restore points.
Any ideas as to what happened? If I do a backup to my external HD then reset to defaults .... can I recover my backup files once I'm logged backin?
    Thank for your help!
    Joe

There are some ways you can recover your password and there are some 3’rd party S/W’s that may work. One way to do it is to follow the link below even though the steps are for Windows 7 it should work in 8 too.
    http://www.howtogeek.com/96630/how-to-reset-your-forgotten-windows-password-the-easy-way/
And you can also try to do it using a 3’rd party S/W at your own risk it may or may not work but it’s worth a try if your data is really important. This video has all the info abt it.

  • Error Configuring Update to Reader 8

My daughter is running Vista Home Premium on a 6 month old and up to date Sony Vaio laptop.
I am relying on her for this information and it is a bit vague. I believe she is running Reader 8 and was prompted to download updates which she did. She was then eventually taken to a page:-
Configuring Updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete. Do not turn off your computer.
The % does not change and after a whicle "Welcome" appears on the screen and then immediately "Shutting down." The computer then restarts itself. It then goes back to the Configuring Updates page and continues in this loop. Forcing shutdown and starting in Safe Mode or Command Prompt takes you to the same page and I can't find a way of logging in to be able to delete the Adobe Reader to start again.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
    Thank you,
    Tim.

I may be wrong but this looks to me like the Windows Update system
(that is, updates from Microsoft, for Vista). This is certainly the
case if you get this message during shutdown.

  • DBMS_LOCK vs Select for update locking

    Hi,
In one of our database packages, we are using the dbms_lock (that package is used to generate unique numbers) instead of select for update locking.
I want to ask what is more suitable here. Our application is oracle forms and oracle db on oracle app server.
Are there any limitations to select for update locking?
What are the conditions favourable to use DBMS_LOCK?
    Regards,

DBMS_LOCK is extremely efficient. Try it. Put a call to obtain/free a lock in a loop and see how long it takes to loop a few thousand times (don't SLEEP in the loop, just obtain and free the lock). If you are having performance issues with DBMS_LOCK or your select it is probably because whatever it is that gets the lock (whichever way you get it) is taking a certain amount of time to finish.
I too, am curious as to what "issues" you had. In either case, a lock for consistent read will be different than a lock for update (as it should be) in terms of how it impacts other users.

  • Update lock up

recent update locked up my computer while trying to install. upon restart all I get is the apple icon and a spinning wheel. what do i do?

Hi Shane, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions before & after re-install, then reboot again each time.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
If it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, APPs, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Be sure to use Preserve Users & Settings.

  • Configuration update with Internet Connect and connection blockage

I have been having the same sort of problems (i.e., suddenly for no apparent reason, being unable to get or maintain an internet connection). I use an internal modem and Earthlink to connect, not dsl or cable. I ran across a discrepancy concerning configuration updates between the three places that allow me to select "Connect" (1) Sys Prefs-->Network-->can select from different configs/locations (2) Internet Connect-->can select from different configs, and (3) Earthlink's Total Access-->can select from different configs/locations.
I noticed that in Internet Connect the dots that represent my password were longer than that in Sys Prefs-->Network, but all Keychains contained the shorter, correct password. I can't change the password nor change or delete the configs in Internet Connect.
When I created a new config/location via SysPrefs-->Network, it showed up in Total Access, but not a peep of it in Internet Connect. Have tried trashing the prefs files for Internet Connect as well as deleting almost all keys in Keychain that relate to online access. No change.
I can now get and maintain a connection only if I connect using Network or Total Access. Any ideas on how to fix Internet Connect application?

I don't know if I can help much, but I think elko has the right idea about repairing permissions after an update. It's good practice to use Disk Utility to verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. This will sometimes resolve the problem.
Another thing to check is all your settings for internet under system preferences. I have heard about things ending up too low in the heirarchy and not working properly for reasons that are unclear. You may be able to reconfigure it.
It is also possible you have an airport card that is failing intermittantly. You can try running the Apple Hardware Test and see if anything shows up in the form of an error code.
You could also try turning off the airport and seeing if you can connect by dial up using the internal modem. If you can, the problem may be with the airport. If you cannot, there is something else going on.
One long shot might be to turn the computer off and remove both the power cord and the battery for 30 minutes or so. You will have to reset the date and time after this. But sometimes things do "reset" and start working again.
As it happens, I have not had any problems on my iBook G4 following the latest updates, so it is likely not too common a problem. Your question has been out here for some time, and I hope someone more knowledgeable than I am will be able to suggest more things to try.
Please post back and let us know if anything has helped.
    Good luck!

  • Updating to windows 10 fails on the "Configuring update for Windows 10" screen

Hi, I have a problem with the Windows 10 update on my Lenovo Miix 3 (8") tablet. Whenever the update succesfully downloads, runs the preparing stage for quite a bit, than prompts me to start the upgrade (in the windows 10 update app). When I click it initiates a restart and starts the "Configuring update for Windows 10" screen, but stays on 0% for a minute, than reboots the original system, and the update does not continue. As I log back in the Windows Update window pops up and after a few seconds prompts me to download windows 10 (again). I have already installed a windows 10 in a similar manner on a PC without any hickups. For me it looks like for whatever reason the update fails in the configuring stage, right before reboot. Anyone met this before and maybe have some solution, or should I just try it with a bootable pendrive?

I have same model and sadly, the same problem. It seems to me that the reboot interupts the install and when you sign in again it nulifies the install needing you to start again. On my laptop the reboots went back into the install without needing a login. Hopefully if enough people have same problem a remedy will be found.

  • HT4528 UPDATE LOCKED MY PHONE

    update locked phone,

I'm having the same issue. My phone is locked in Recovery Mode. iTunes recognizes it as an iPhone in recovery mode and I choose "Restore" but what seems to be most of the way through the restore I get "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." After I first had problems I updated iTunes, but that didn't help. I'm on hold with phone support. I've yet to talk to anyone.

    Hi,
    >  Do i need to report this to client or take any action .
    Yes,First inform the user.
One more thing NEVER delete locks from SM12 without making sure that the lock owner is logged out of the system and no processes are running in the owners name.Otherwise inconsistencies in your system might appear.
Report it to the user if the user says ok to goahead , then do Kill users from SM04 ... and check whether any background job is not running in that system.

  • Automatic update locked me out of email configuration ! Please help...

    Hi,
I bought a BB Curve 3G for personnal use on january 2011.
Logged in SFR (France) with appropriate Internet Package.
It worked perfectly from then (even after it was updated to 6.0 on february).
Yesterday I did accept a new update (I can't remerber exactly the name... something like Email Serv...) thinking it was just improving emailing. What a surprise it was !!! After automatic reboot, I received an email saying I had to switch to IMAP protocole from my Gmail account (?!?) and then validate email account on my BB. But on each validation, I got he same email (no way to get your emails from your gmail account)... It seems I had no way to get out of this bloody cercle.
So I restored from my last save (a month ago) and then, opening account settings, I could see my gmail account but I was not able to modify it. The only thing I could do was to create Professionnal Account ?!? Turning mad !!!
Here are a few screen captures :

    Hi,
    Here's how it evolved :
I was finally able to reach my Internet Account. It asked me to validate it :
And please see what I got :
