  • How to configure oracle 6i report server run time component with application server

    we got oracle 6i report server for developing the web based reports for our undergoing product. we r succesed in developing the web based reports using oracle 6i report server.But we r facing problems while deploying the product with oracle reports at clients place,why because the client does not have the oracle 6i report server. To solve this problem we have to configure the oracle 6i report server run time component with application server at client side , but we are unable to configure this component(that is CGI handler).

    You can run multiple instances of Reports Server in 6i.
    In tnsnames.ora, for each server, have a different name and each listening to different port.
    For example,
    server1.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1949))
    server2.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1950))
    Also, if you want to know about Reports Server Clustering, you may refer to "Publishing Reports" document on OTN:

  • Error in configuring apache plug in with weblogic 8.1.5

    I tried to configure Apache 2.2 plugin with weblogic 8.1 SP 5 in Linux ES 4.0 . I am getting the following error while loading weblogic_module in httpd.conf file in Apache server (restarting apache server after putting entries in httpd.conf).. The error is httpd: Syntax error on line 414 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `weblogic_module' in file /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO?
    Did anyone got this error before?

    The solution is for BEA to provide the plug-in. Probably a few minutes of a work for BEA developer. Weblogic 9.0 has it.

  • Configuring PAM login modules with weblogic 6.1

    I am trying to configure my own PAM login module to work on the same JVM as weblogic.
    I have my own security policy that does not rely on weblogic however when trying
    to login after creating a specific login context :
    LoginContext loginContext = new LoginContext("XXLogin",subject,
    callbackHandler);
    loginContext.login();
    The JVM tries to invoke weblogic's own internal server login module. It looks
    for the callback the login module uses and then fails.
    The same problem ocurrs at weblogic startup. Weblogic appears to overide the -Djava.security.auth.login.config=jaas.config
    with their own login configuration file:WLHOME\lib\server.policy. Is this supposed
    to be a standard PAM login configuration file or weblogic's own interpretation
    of it ? (It is called a policy file which normally relates to grants and permissions
    in JAVA). Anyway we modified this file to include our own login module under a
    different AuthenticationConfigurationName. However weblogic attempted to use our
    login module as well as their own. According to the jaas api when creating a login
    context the application configuration name is specified however weblogic appears
    to be ignoring this !! Also we have found that a PAM configuration file that we
    had did not parse with weblogic, however it worked with the standard PAM configuration
    file parser. This implies that weblogic does not use the standard parser. Any
    help welcome !!

    Hi Parthasarathy,
    Thanks for the pointer. Your suggestion was the first step to getting our Security
    Model to be compatible with the WebLogic 6.1 model. As suggested I removed the
    the default LoginModule (ServerLoginModule) from the Server.policy file and replaced
    it with our Login Module. Then we defined JVM properties for the weblogic.management.password
    property in the startweblogic command file to supply the authentication information
    required by WebLogic.
    The next problem that I encountered was that we use files in the jaas.jar for
    Authorisation when I tried to access these files (e.g. javax.security.auth.Policy)
    I got a sealing violation as the JVM had previously loaded other class files in
    this package from the weblogic.jar (as weblogic uses these files for authorisation).
    It was possible to get around this problem by putting the jaas.jar ahead of the
    weblogic.jar in the classpath.
    After this I just needed to set up permissions in the weblogic.policy file for
    authorisation and we were there.
    Regards
    Paul

    Please note from the documentation:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61//security/prog.html#1039659
    that WLS uses the default Login Module (weblogic.security.internal.ServerLoginModule)
    to gather authentication informatino
    during server initialization. To replace the default Login module, edit
    the Server.policy file and replace the name of the
    default Login module with the name of a custom Login module.
    Please inform whether the above information is useful. Thank you.

  • How to configure Oracle forms/reports 10g to Oracle Database 10g

    Dear All,
    I have downloaded oracle Developer Suite 10g for microsoft Windows (CD1/CD2) from edelivery.oracle.com.
    I have also downloaded Oracle 10g xe edition from oracle.com.
    Both above software are on the same machine.
    Now, I have creaated new database, created few tablespaces,tables,indexes,functions etc on it. SID_NAME=xe.
    I want to configure both the software(connect them) so that i can generate some reports, create forms and applications(on the same machine not on network).
    How do i do that?
    Best Regards,

    did you set tns_admin? do you know what it's for?
    don't edit tnsnames.ora manually if you can help it.
    you have 2 tnsnames.ora. one is from the xe install. the other is from the developer suite install.
    what does the one for your developer suite look like?
    if you used the the network config assistant in a straightforward way, then it should end up with an entry similar to what you have in your tnsnames.ora from your xe installation.
    the netconfig assistant has a TEST step in it. did you try that? you might need to change the username/password when you test it.
    the main thing here is the tnsnames.ora. the way it will be located is in a particular order. it will check in this order, more or less
    1. in current working directory
    2. TNS_ADMIN defined by the session
    3. TNS_ADMIN defined as a global environment (in control panel)
    4. TNS_ADMIN defined in registry
    5. default location (network\admin directory).
    so if your developer says it can't resolve the name, then it means it is not defined in the tnsnames.ora it used. you need to determine which tnsnames.ora file it's using, and is it configured correctly.
    if you did not set tns_admin, check your E:\DevSuiteHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
    this is the one developer will use by default.
    it should have an entry similar to the one from your xe install e.g.
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraclelaptop.yic.edu.sa)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    then when you run forms/reports, you should connect as user/password@xe

  • How to integrate Oracle Http Server with Weblogic

    Weblogic supports Apache web server 2.0 and 2.2 to be a proxy server. Oracle Http Server (OHS) is based on Apache 2.0. I am trying to configure Weblogic to use OHS that comes with OAS install as proxy on Linux environment. I am unable to get the WLS plugin for Apache to work with OHS. When I tried to start the OHS, I got the following errors:
    /oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_3/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd
    Syntax error on line 1125 of /oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_3/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf:

    I checked the library, and I found in several places, such as /usr/lib.
    The following is the configuration that I put in http.conf file:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicCluster 127.0.0.1:7001
    MatchExpression /AIP
    </IfModule>
    <Location /weblogic>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster 127.0.0.1:7001
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    PathTrim /weblogic
    </Location>
    Anybody knows how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    You're right: Weblogic supports Apache web server 2.0 and 2.2 to be a proxy server but you are using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 which is based on Apache *1.3* as you can read in "Oracle® HTTP Server Administrator's Guide"
    10g (10.1.3.1.0) - Part Number B28948-01 - 1.1 Oracle HTTP Server Features, right under "Based on Apache - HTTP v1.1 Support" at
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28948/overview.htm#i1008837.
    As far as I know, the only OHS based on Apache *2.0* is available as a standalone release: "Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2.0) (10.1.3.3.0) for Linux x86" - 32bit. You can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_linuxsoft.html (as_101330_apache2_lnx.zip).
    I've tested it successfully.

    your url should be

    notice the ':' before the '@'.

    Hi Sree,
    You have to place the classes11.zip file in the beginning of the classpath.i did it. my CLASSPATH is now

  • How do I access(read) dynamically generated reports with WebLogic WebServer

    Hello Everyone,
    In our application we are generating reports (pdf format) at run time. How do
    we read these files.....which directory should we store these files to... I am
    using Weblogic 6.0.
    These files have timestamp as part of their name so the names are not static.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ahsen

    We ran into this also. If you read the J2EE specs carefully you will see
    that your app is only guaranteed to have write-access to a single directory,
    defined by the context attribute "javax.servlet.context.tempdir" -- I can
    find the exact reference if you want.
    Here is how to get this attribute:
    File tempdir = (File) getServletContext()
    .getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
    log.debug("context temp dir = " + tempdir.getAbsolutePath());
    Although this may seem horribly restrictive, it makes a lot of sense on a
    secure system where applications are deployed by a specific user, and may
    have at runtime minimal filesytem priviledges -- your app can't write
    anywhere, at the exception of the context temp dir. I know this would be the
    way I'd setup my container on a Unix system for example.
    So, what's a developer to do? You can either bypass the issue and always
    generate your content dynamically, with a servlet setting the appropriate
    MIME type to the output, or write your reports to the context temp dir and
    manually serve content from there.
    Frankly I think the first option is by far the most simple, easier to
    implement, and thus attractive; if it leads to a performance problem, you
    can always solve that with a Web cache. Doing otherwise (caching the content
    yourself) opens the door to many issues, that really shouldn't be your
    problem as a Web application developer. Keep it simple!
