Configuring a Oracle 9i database for OWB

Hello everybody ...
I'm working in an envirenment with :
Oracle 9i database
Oracle 9i Developer suite release2 (9.0.2)
in the documentation of this last one, I've seen that the init.ora must be configured to support the OWB
this file is in the [Drive:]\Oracle\admin\owbrepos\pfile\
but I can't find it...
Can anyone help me ?

This statement in the documentation assumes that 'owbrepos' is the name of your database. Substitute 'owbrepos' with the actual name of your database.
I recommend you download and install a current release of OWB from here http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/warehouse/index.html. The 9.0.2 release is two and a half years old and the support for it ends in less than a month (09-JUN-2004).

    Hello, have you tried to create new administrator user, and install using that newly created user...?You found this to be a band-aid solution in your specific instance. (Strange case of installation on windows 7 - unable to complete installation But you have drawn the wrong conclusions and never found the real issue in the cited thread. Under the circumstances, I would not be offering this up as a generalized solution, as you are doing in this thread and in others:

  • Oracle 9i Database for Linux

    Hello,
    I need to be able to test some software changes against an Oracle 9i database running under Linux as this is an environment used by one of my customers.
    I have tried downloading the zip files found at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html but if I try to open or download any of these files I receive an Error 404 Page Cannot Be Loaded.
    This happens when using IE6 or when using GetRight.
    Are the links to these files still valid? If not, where can I download Oracle 9i Database for Linux?

    I don't find any problems with these files and they are still available.

    large_pool_size =?
    log_buffer=?
    db_block_size=?
    sort_area_size=?
    sort_area_retained_size=?
    You can follow my below action plan
    1) Why you want to go to new server?
    Is the DB was slow? --> if yes then you need to run your application with new server
    2) if its 9i or 10g and then run the advisory and check for estimated physical read for db_cache_size
    3) Is it shared_Pool then you need to check shared_pool advisory section and similarly for large_pool_size etc..
    according to me you can decide the size of memory structure only after running your application with database.
    After migration, please collect the system stats

  • How to configure the Oracle XSL Mapper for ‘schemaLocation’ attribute?

    In the Transformation_1.xsl I need to have the ‘schemaLocation’ attribute defined as such:
    <inc:CaseIncidentReport xsi:schemaLocation="http://caseincidentreport.com/1.0.4 CaseIncidentReport.xsd">
    This is fine as long as long as I don’t switch to the Design tab. When I switch to the Design tab, Oracle XSL Mapper regenerates the XSL file and renders the root element as
    <inc:CaseIncidentReport>
    Can some one tell me how to configure Oracle XSL Mapper for ‘schemaLocation’ attribute? I am using BPEL Designer/JDeveloper Version 10.1.2.1.0 (Build 1915)
    Thanks,

    What do you mean by normal import? Where can I include the 'schemaLocation' attribute in the Designer? I have no trouble adding the shemaLocation in the source tab but when I switch to the design tab it always stripe it off.
    How do I file an enhancement request? I see the the XSL Mapper needs improvements.
    Thanks,

  • To make BI Beans work with Oracle 9i Database for Windows...

    I have tried the following combination
    Oracle Database 9.0.1.2 + Patch 3(Patchset:2227410)
    Jdevelper9i RC
    BI Beans RC
    But, when I tried to create a new calculation or new presentation, I got "Connection information is incomplete, Service Name is not specified." error. So, I added " <oracle.dss.addins.wizard.connection.serviceName>OLAPServer</oracle.dss.addins.wizard.connection.serviceName>" in IDEConnections.xml. After this, it ended up with the "BIB-16601" error again:(
    Please let me know whether I have to wait for another patch or not. Because, if the cause of this error is my configuration and all the Oracle Products are fine, I have to check my configuration again to make it work. But, if I simply have to wait for a new patch, I can do something else till then:)
    Thank you.
    Seiji
    P.S. If someone could make BI Beans work with Jdeveloper9irc and Oracle OLAP Services on Windows, PLEASE let me know.

    I found an answer for my question in the JDeveloper 9i forum ( The title is "OLAP Patch"). I will wait for the new patch.

  • RMAN configuration in ORACLE RAC database

    Hi there,
    We are using RMAN backup strategy for taking backups from one node(eg.node1).Database is RAC database, version 9.2.3. and OS is Solaris 5.10.
    this is the configuration which we use, as follows:
    Connecting to Prod.Database using catalog database.
    rman catalog=rman/rman@CATDB target=sys/oracle@PRODDB(node 2).
    RMAN> show all;
    RMAN configuration parameters are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 30;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;
    CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/rmanback/_%F';
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 5;
    CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/rmanback/CMWPROD_%s.bak';
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL 2 DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT 'SYS/oracle@PRODDB(node2)';
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO 7 G;
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/oracle/9.2.3/dbs/snapcf_CMWPROD1.f';
    As the above config shows RMAN is connecting to PROD DB (node 2). But we need to take backups (datafiles and as well as archive logs) from two nodes (i.e from node 1 and as well as node 2).
    Is there any possibility for taking backups from two nodes?
    Thanks,
    Balu.

    You will need to setup an NFS share such that both nodes can access each other's archived redo logs area. You also need to ensure your LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter settings are properly set. Once setup correctly, either node will be able to run the backup and include each other's archived redo log files. Since this is RAC, the data files are shared by design and either node can already backup these files.
    Multiple channels would allow 'simultaneous' backup of the archived redo logs.
    I would highly recommend using a CFS (single shared file system where all nodes store their archived redo logs distinguished by thread) to store the archived redo logs, this reduces administration and configuration especially when you get ready to scale.
    Hope this helps.

  • Downloading oracle 9i database for windows xp

    I am working on winXP-32 bit. I have downloaded for winxp-64bit.
    When I tried to run setup file it is saying it is not a valid 32 bit application.
    If I have to download for winxp-32 bit , there are 3 zip files. Actually I want only the standard edition. Cant I download only standard edition? Should I download all 3 zip files for standard edition? Please help me out.

    You need to download all 3 zip files, since the installer decides which files have to installed from the three installation "disk" files, if you're refering to this link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/winsoft.html
    There's also a step by step installation guide right below which explains what has to be done.

  • Oracle as database for ERP2005 and ERP2004

    Hi,
    I am on a Solaris 10, Oracle 10.2 environment. I have already installed Solution Manager 4.0 on a NW2004s platform. Now I would like to install ERP2004 (NW04)on the same server, using the same Oracle database. Is this possible?? We are thinking about splitting Solaris into 3 zones, so that each zone acts (almost) like a separate server.
    Please help, this is an urgent issue...
    Regards,
    Thomas

    you can use the option <b>mcod (multiple components in one database)</b> when asked during installation of the database instance...the databases will the be distiguished using the appropriate database schema. ie. sapdev and sapqas (examples!)
