Configuring an attribute of image asset editor dropdown

Hi,
I need to make a custom attribute to be a dropdown.
I was able to create the new attribute for Image (DAM) but when I am not able to make it as dropdown valued(Yes/No).
Can someone please thow light on this.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I do not want to do anything with the code. I just want to add the neccesssary properties to the image formitems so that it will show up as dropdown.

OER - Asset Editor Tree View unfiled items

I am using OER 11.1.1.5.0 and in the Asset Editor Tree View I can see general categories of 'Unsubmitted', Submitted' and 'Registered' with various sub-categoreis under each main category. I am puzzled why an Asset which appears in the Tree View initially as as Submitted / Pending Review / DAC Interface / CB Interface should, once all the submission, acceptance and registration stages have been completed, appear under Registered / Unfiled / CB Interface whilst another Asset should appear initially as Submitted / Pending Review / DAC Product / DAC Product - Portal appears, having undergone the same registration processes, as Registered / DAC Product / DAC Product - Portal.
I cannot find any information in the documentation regarding 'Unfiled' assets nor can I see any difference between the Asset Types for these two assets which might cause this to happen.
Can anybody shed any light on this issue ?

It works for me after I did a small tweak by as mine is a demo install.
Idea - is to make an security exception for the OER url in Java control console
Steps to do that :
1.Go to the control panel and uninstall the 64 bit version of Java
Open Programs and Features and select the 64 bit version of Java and select Uninstall.
2.Open up the Java Control Panel
Found as an option in the standard windows control panel
3.Check the version by clicking on the About Tab
If this is not what you expected you can go to java.com and download the latest version.
4.Click on the Security Tab in the Java Control Panel
5.Click on the Edit Site List button in the lower RH corner of the control panel
6.Add your URL to be allowed
Enter the full path that you use to access this such as https://myequallogics.com or the IP address if that is how you access it (as in http://192.168.0.100 - Https is recommended by Oracle.) Once complete hit OK. You should now see the exception on the security page.
7.Close out of the control panel.
8.You can now acess your site through the browser window.

DAM Asset Editor Issue

Hi All,
I am facing one issue regarding the asset editor in cq 5.5 sp2.
When I open image by browsing through the folders in DAM every thing works fine. It shows all the data below the image and image type , Publish to Scene7 link as well.
When I open the same image by searching it wont show image type and publish to scene7 link.
Problem here is for the same image it shows different views when we open it in different ways. Internally if the image type is not coming then it will take default asset editor(instead of jpeg asset editor) because of this some of the metadata changes (custom metadta cahnges which we need) in the center page are not showing up when we open the image by searching.

I've been struggling with this same issue on the same platform (5.5 sp2). Here is what I know so far:
When you are browsing the DAM tree under the Digital Assets tab and open a jpg, then the asset editor retrieves a list of image-specific fields from /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/image/jpeg/formitems .
When you use the DAM Search tab to find the jpg, then the asset editor retrieves the list of generic fields from /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems .
This issue also affects PDFs. The Digital Assets tab will use the pdf-specifc fields from /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/application/pdf/formitems but the Search tab will use the generic fields from /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems .
In other words, the DAM Search widget isn't loading the desired fields into the asset editor. You can force the asset editor to load the correct fields by refreshing your entire browser. I may try to patch this by overlaying the DAM Search widget if I can find it.

DAM Asset Share / Asset Editor

I created DAM Asset Share / Asset Editor pages and customizied metadata on editor. I created them in dam admin - New - New Asset Share .... That created both asset editor and asset share pages and I customized them. I configured query builder of that asset share to point to the new asset editor.
But how can I change the asset editor assigned by default to the DAM Assets? For e.g. When I log into damadmin, any asset I open under Geometrix Outdoors or Geometrix is opened with the default asset editor. If I create any asset in a site for e.g. myWebsite, then the asset is opened via default asset editor. How can I modify that editor or override that editor with a custom one?

As far as i know asset share and asset editor are form based application which allows to edit/view shared resources available at paths configured in asset shares (in application itself). To edit any of listed resource in asset share you can use "edit metadata" link under "action" in left column after selecting the asset.
If you want to apply the asset editor globaly on applications you should override it from "/libs/dam/content/asseteditors" to "/apps" (i hope this may work)

Java web start error running Asset Editor or any jnlp page

When I try to launch Asset Editor or Import/Export or any of the jnlp pages that runs using Java Web Start, I get an error. Java 7 Web start starts but It throws “Could not connect to Server. Please check your Java Web Start and Browser proxy settings”.
I read conflicting opinions on the internet as to what version of JRE/JDK is needed and potentially some issues running Java Web start with Java 7. I have 64-bit java 1.7.0_45 JDK/JRE installed and no other version. I tried installing 32-bit 1.7.0_45 as well. I have tried to run it from 32-bit as well as 64-bit browser also. All situations provide the same error.
However, when I install JRockit, it seems to work fine. But we cannot use jrockit. We have to use IBM JDK/JRE 7 eventually. Currently, the java web start does not work on Oracle Java as well as IBM JRE.
Any help is much appreciated.

I found a solution for this problem. We have to apply patch 17634436.

Extending DAM Asset Editor formitems and grouping new fields into a widgetcollection

Hi,
I'm a newbie so be kind pretty please...
We have a requirement for one of the websites hosted on our CQ instance to have some extended DAM properties for PDF files.
Eg. Summary (textfield) and Search Weighting (selection)
We have added a new namespace with our new items/properties underneath:
/apps/dam/option/metadata/edexcel
We’ve also extended the pdf asset editor by adding the new fields to formitems under:
/apps/dam/content/asseteditors/application/pdf/formitems
And we are getting the expected result in DAM editor in that when we choose to open a PDF we have new fields to edit our new properties.
We have also been able to prove that using group permissions we can tailor it so that only specific website authors see these extended PDF fields; essentially making the extension local to an individual website.
The issue we are having is trying to assign group permissions so that we can deploy and maintain these in the best possible way. What we are trying to do is group these new fields in formitems into a widgetcollection so that we can assign the permissions we need at one widgetcollection level rather than needing to assign at individual field level.
I have tried creating a widgetcollection under formitems and adding my new fields within and this works ok up until the point when I try to assign read permission at the widgetcollection level. Then what happens is I can no longer ‘open’ a PDF at all.
Is there a way that we can do this? Can you suggest any alternative solutions please?

Thank you jorg, so you say by applying ACL and deny read access for project B, and if Dam folder is Overlayed under apps such as apps/dam, I can restrict modified version of DAM for project B thereby ProjectB using the foundation Dam and have modified version of dam for project A? Please correct me if I am wrong, since I have the jsp's such as child asset and metadata editor jsp modified after being overlayed.

Unable to read blob attributes in the Asset Filter

Hi,
I am unable to read a blob attribute in the Asset Filter using the following code.
The String attributes work fine.
Can I get some examples for reading blob attributes in the filter?
I am using Webcenter Sites 11gr1

Here u can write the below code :

Generate image assets from within Smart Object

Hi,
When designing for phones I create a large canvas with all screens spread out accross it. Every screen is a Smart Object. To me this has many advantages.
When editing a screen I open the Smart Object. Now I turn on Generate Image Assets. I notice that no resource folder is created.
Seems like Generating Image Assets from within a smart object is not possible.
Is that correct? If so, why isn't the menu option greyed out?
UPDATE: I found that you can use Generate Image Assets from within a Smart Object. But NOT if the Smart Object is part of a PSD. In other words, only if the Smart Object (psb) is a seperate file.
I wonder why.

Old thread, but I had the exact same problem. It turns out (on Windows at least), that you can find the generated assets folder for a smart object, but you have to know where to look.
With the smart object "opened" in Photoshop, click "Save as". This shows the location of the current smart object being edited. For me, it was: C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Temp\Layer112112121.psb
And lo and behold, right next to the layer temp file was the image asset output folder with my generated assets in it:
C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Local\Temp\Layer112112121 - assets
You can right-click and "Open in a new window" to get a file explorer window in that folder (see image below).
(Possibly important note: Close or cancel the Save As dialog, we don't actually want to save the layer to a different location.)
This location makes sense, but it does seem to be a poor user experience design. Presumably temp files should output their asset folders to the desktop, just like unsaved PSD files.

File Generate Image Assets: no checkmark

When selecting the Image Assets as taught in the video http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/generate-assets-layers.html I do not get a checkmark andtherefore this feature is not working. I am using Photoshop CC version 14.1.1 in a Windows 7 environment. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have Enable Generator checked. And yes, I have a PS document with layers open.
As I'm a developer I do have a very custom set-up on my machine.
By this I mean I have edited my PATH in command line and have a lot of things installed such as ruby, nodejs, git, etc.
Not sure if this would affect PS.

Launching Asset Editor in OER throws exception

While Launching Asset Editor, in the middle of my work, I started facing one issue.
From OER Console (http://localhost:7101/oer), when I click on Edit/Manage Assets Link, it downloads registrartool.jnlp file.
When I double click on this file, It launches Asset Editor but this editor does not have Action Menu and also, it does not show any assets under different folders.

Looks as while launching jnlp file, security context was not carried. Did anyone face this issue? Earlier it was working fine. Just in the middle, it started giving this error.
I have deleted all temp files from my machine. I have deleted server's tmp folder which contains cache but it is of no help.
If anyone has faced this issue, Please suggest.

Solved the problem locally. It appears that one of the related projects copied an older version of the javafx jar file from our repository because the project had the checkbox for copying dependent libraries selected. Meanwhile the JDK is using the latest JDK. The apparent conflict was resolved by unselecting the copy dependent libraries checkbox in the properties window for that project.

Specific folder for Image assets?

I need to be able to choose a specific folder to generate image assets to! Is there some way to do this?
Instead of just creating a folder called nameOfMyFile-assets, I want to generate assets to a folder elsewhere!

You would have to customize it using the Generator API.

Generate Image Assets crashes Photoshop when making half-size pngs from groups

I've been getting Photoshop CC to crash consistantly when I try to generate scaled-down pngs from a layer group. If I have generate image assets on and change a group name to "50% name.png", Photoshop instantly crashes. If generate assets is off and I change a group name to "50% name.png" Photoshop does not crash until I try turning on generate assets, and then it crashes instantly. Trying "50% name.png, name_full.png" also fails. This has occured in different files. It does not happen in every file or every time, but it happens very often.
I'm using Windows 8 and Photoshop CC 14.1.1 x64.

I’ve installed the latest photoshop update (14.2.1 x64). Unfortunately the new update makes me now impossible to use the generator routine. My project needs “decades” longer to realise that I’ve activated the generator in the File menu. I click on Generate->Image Assets and nothing happens… first. After half a minute or so the checkbox eppear finally. You must know: I have more than 100 Layers to be generated to single images. A lot of them are smart objects or groups.
When I finally save my file to start the generate routine, I needs a lot ( ! ) longer to generate the images than before.
Additionally my main problem is stil lthere: Impossible to rename any layer or activate the blending menue, while the generator runs.
So with this update I’ve to wait much much longer to activate or deactivate the generate routine. Deactivating needs a long time too… What have you done there Adobe? (Sorry for this words.)
@Adobe support: Please contact me personally via mail if possible and I will send you the project file where this problem appear. I can’t publish the file for everybody, sorry guys.
Do someone knows how to go back to the prevoius installation? Really sad about the generator. A must buy argument and actually a real time saver.

PSE8 Crash open as Raw a .jpg image in Editor to get Raw Editor

Although it works in release 6/7, I crash when I try to open a .jpg image in the raw editor in PSE8. I use menu file,open as, select an image, and select Camera Raw on open as drop down menu and then click on Open. At that point the editor crashes and goes away and has to be restarted. Anyone have any workaround suggestions or is this broken until relase 9?

Same behaviour here (WinXP Pro SP3, PSE upgrade path was 3-4-5-6-7-8).
I also see 2 times Camera Raw in about plug-ins as well as in the Open as list. Chosing the first one in results in error message "The operation could not be completed, Class alread exists", using the second one in Open as results in error message (my translation from German to English) "This process could not be executed, because there was a program error" (As a software developer, I love this message ).
I'd be interested in solutions as well.
