Configuring calendar in ESS

hi,
i want to configure "calendar" in the ESS implementation , but i dont see any services for the same in the back end MySAP ERP .
do i need to create a subservice regarding the same?
Can anyone tell me where would the calendar be placed ( i mean which workset in ESS ) once its configured?

r u talking about team calendar.
if yes u can found it under MSS.
if u dont' want whole MSS buisness package. than just deploy MSS webdynpro BP on j2ee server. and create a service link under default homepage framework for calender.
if any query revert back.

The configuration of the UWL isn't so much for ESS and/or MSS as it is for just your portal users in general. The configuration of the UWL is actually done in the portal itself under the System Administration role. I suggest starting there and reading all the information. Also, the help.sap.com documentation on the UWL generally will step you through it all. Even in the MSS help documentation, there is a basic section on setting up "bare bones" UWL config. Have a go at that first.

Configuring Calendar Connectivity

MSS Team Calendar and ESS in MSS

Hi OADP and MSS experts,
My client organization is implementing ESS (Basic personal information and leave request services) and MSS (leave approvals and team calendar). Partly the organization has a line manager (A012) relationship who would approve the leave request in MSS (which is fine using SAP standard). Other than line manager relationship, they also have Absence Coordinators who approve the leave request where there are no line manager relationship.
I would like to get your views on the following-
1. Is it possible to use standard OM relationship 'S' A/B 290 is administrator of 'O' for Absence Coordinators and configure OADP to get the views in the MSS team calendar.
2. also the absence coordinators - can they submit leave request (ESS in MSS - related activity for Leave request) on behalf of employees based on the above relationship (A/B 290) .Please note that they will not have chief position assignment
If this can be achieved by OADP configuration I would appreciate any help with configuration documentation.
Looking forward to get your opinions and suggestions please.

Team Calendar in ESS Leave Request (Error)

Hello,
we are configuring the Leave request in ESS and MSS in the portal (EP 7.0, ECC 6.0, latest release). The Leave Request process and application, Time accounts and Workflows all working fine and the customizing is done in the IMG.
Only under ESS -> Leave Request -> Team Calendar we are getting this Error:

Hi Bryan,
1. First of all make sure that the Internet Graphic Server is activated + up and running on your SAP ERP System (see also SAP Note 704604)
2. Then you have to set the Customizing Parameters for the Team Calendar in IMG (SAP ERP System):
a. Tcode: PTARQ -> Customizing
b. Working Time -> Team Calendar
c. Node Create Rule Group -> Example: 00000001 (SAP Standard)
d. Node Adjust WEBMO Feature -> Assign all Nodes to your Rue Group
e. Node Spec. Absecne to be displayed -> Here i assume you have set up the Leave Request Process and WF already, so you only need to assign this to your Rule Group:

f. Node Select Employee -->
Here you need to set the Group of your Employee which should be displayed in the team calendar:

Public Holiday Calendar on ESS

Is there any configuration to show the public holidays on ESS. The Calender overview somehow does not show the public holiday calendar.
Or it has to be shown using a new (customized) iview?

We used the method TEAM_CALE_ENRICHMENT of badi PT_ABS_REQ for adding weekends and holidays to the teamcalendar. And we made an enhancement in routine COLORIZE_EECALE (include LPT_ARQ_REQUEST_UIAF11) to add holidays and weekends to the employee calendar.

Hide Calendar in ESS Web Dynpro Time Entry Application

Hello All,
We are currently on ESS SP 11. NW 2004 SP19 (EP 6.0 SP 19)
In "Record Working Time" application, we see the Calendar expanded by default. We want to Hide the Calendar by default.
I have went the link /thread/82037 [original link is broken] but the actual procedure for modifying the Web dynpro CCs is not mentioned there.
Please suggest me the changes to be done exactly to achieve this functionality.

I hope JDI is ready in your landscape.
If it is ready then import the DC ess~cat from ESS related track.
In the interface component controller of the DC there is will be some code like
return new CAPState(cap, cap[0].getId());
Here just change this as
return new CAPState(cap, " ");
With this change, Calendar will be hidden by default.

First of all please make sure your adjustment reason has been configured correctly in the IMG, specificcaly the following node
Administration ->Flexible administration -> Define Administrative
parameters.
As well as IMG->Personal Management->Employee Self Service->Service Specific
Settings->Benefits and Payments->Benefits->Set Up ESS Parameters. Please make sure that the validity dates are correct. and finally
Benefits -> Flexible Administration ->Define Adjustment permissions
If your configuration is correct please have a look at the following
1. Please maintain a value for "URL of PCD Page" in the resource table V_T7XSSSERRES for key EMPOYEE_GENERICENROLLMENT_SERVICE05.
2. Another reason for the page not being displayed could be due to authorizations. See that the user has authorization to view this page.

Configuration of different ESS Homepages for Specific Countries

We have a requirement to configure the ESS homepage based on country. For example, we have some countries that are on both payroll and HR, and some that are just on HR and do not require the Benefits and Payroll link.
In SPRO, it is fairly easy and straightforward how to configure country specific services and remove and add links from sub-areas, but how do you confgiure the homepage to hide area page links, etc?

Services -> Define Country-Specific Services
In this IMG activity, you define country-specific services. When an employee starts a service, the system determines the employee's country grouping and checks if there is a country-specific service definition in the V_T7XSSSERSRVCG and V_T7XSSSERSRVCGC views.
u2022     If there is a country-specific service definition, the system uses this definition.
u2022     If there is no country-specific service definition, the system uses the general service definition in the V_T7XSSSERSRV and V_T7XSSSERSRVC views. If the general service definition does not contain a resource object, the system does not display the service (see example 2).
This enables you to define country-specific variations of services for certain countries while using a general service definition for all other countries.

Example 1
Your company has employees in seven different countries:

I have set up all most everything in backend, but unable to view calendar in the ESS tab. There is an error thown up " 500 Internal Server Error".

One calendar view does not show up when configure calendar overlay in sharepoint 2010

I created 5 views for a calendar and wanted to create a calendar overlay to show all 5 views.
Events 1
Events 2
Events 3
Events 4
Other events
but one view named "Other events" is not showing up when selecting view from "calendar" list.. (only the other 4 views are shown)
I checked that the view is created correctly and listed in views section in list settings.
Don't know why ?

According to your post, my understanding is that one of your calendar view didn’t display when configured the calendar overlay.
Was the “other events” view created by the Calendar View format?
You can only select the view created by the Calendar view format when you configure the calendar overlay.
I had tested with five view as your description, they are all the calendar views, and all the views could display when I configured the calendar overlay as below.
You can recreate a new view or a new calendar, then check whether it works.

It looks like a bug to me. I checked "Setup a Front End / Back End deployment" and "Setup this server as Back End". I do not have any calendar frontend yet. Do I need to have at least one calendar frontend before configuring the backend?

Known issue. Bug #6498212 - "configurator throws java exception when choose the server to backend in dwp setup"
This bug is fixed in 121657-18 (for Solaris Sparc) or 121658-18 (for Solaris x86). You should be able to download and apply this patch to your new calendar install then run the configurator again.

Configure calendar properly

I have tried these two methods to create a calendar:

Both in query do not use the binding variables in select to make things faster, and my data is large, so that when i perform their select methods:
IE: Not putting in where clause: TABLE.START_DATE > :bindingStartDate AND TABLE.END_DATE < :bindingEndDate
Everything is very slow.
I have the impression that i am not doing things well, because I get exception when two persons navigating at the same time...
Is there a correct way to perform query, so as to only fetch data that corresponds to the view of the calendar?

OK, managed to try out GEBS Calendar tutorial, and error is easily reproduced:
Download GEBS calendar, as is, and include is schema for FODCAL.
Execute in your integrated server.
From two terminals, or navigators, navigate forward and backwards at the same time. It may take a few tries, but it is easier to reproduce if there are various appointments in the same weeks.
If a week has many appointments, and takes a second to load, and you both navigate at the same time, voilá:

I havent had much luck on forum because I didnt know exactly where to point things out (my fault!!!!)
But given that I now can give: Schema, application project, and how to reproduce the error, any chance someone has had the same problem?
