Configuring Contacts (External Domain/Post Office/User)

We're starting a migration to another mail system. I'm looking for some help to properly configure our GW8sp2hp2 system to send mail to external recipients, whether the mail is sent from an internal GroupWise user or from an Internet sender somewhere outside our network. All external recipients will have the same SMTP domain name. The TIDs I found (7004434, 3230787) for creating an External Domain, External Post Office, and External User to create "Contacts" in the GroupWise system address book that point to external Internet e-mail addresses did not work. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, the instructions are incomplete, or the process has changed for GW8.
We have GW8sp2hp2 with the exception of a WebAccess and GWIA that are both at 7sp4. There are two GWIAs, one for inbound in the DMZ (7sp4) and one for outbound (8sp2hp2). One TID I read said to link the External Post Office to the domain holding the GWIA using the Link Configuration tool. The inbound GWIA has a Gateway Alias Type of "GWIA", but the outbound GWIA did not have one defined. I made its Gateway Alias Type "GWI2". I can go to GroupWise|Gateway Aliases in the properties of the External User and add a gateway alias for either GWIA, however I cannot see GWI2 in the Gateway Link drop-down in the Link Configuration tool to select the second GWIA as the Gateway link (per TID 3230787).
Are there GroupWise 8-specific instructions for configuring this?

I added a Gateway Alias of [email protected] to the user and now the inbound GWIA accepts mail to that address and immediately forwards the mail through the outbound GWIA to the address configured in Internet Addressing. My remaining issue is that I want it to work for Internet mail addressed to [email protected] AND [email protected] I created a second External User and gave it a gateway alias of [email protected] but the same Internet Address, and that appears to work, but is complicated. GroupWise documentation says nicknames are not the solution, as mail cannot be addressed to [email protected]
It appears I've found a solution, albeit a slightly complicated one. But if Gateway Aliases are deprecated and nicknames aren't the answer, what is the supported solution for making this work?

  • Creating secondary linux domain & post office @ another city

I have a primary domain and post office in one city. Consoleone, shows them on my NSS volumes as /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domain and /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/po
I created a new domain for another city, and gave it UNC pathing \\portland\MAIL\groupwise\domainnc. It did create the domain in eDirectory, but made a file structure under /mnt called /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc. Not sure about what was going on with that, I copied the directory structure and all the files from there to the proper location of the portland server, started the domain and it fired up. Both domains showed that each other was up, communicating presumably entirely by IP.
I loaded ConsoleOne on the portland server and can see both domains.
    So far so good.
When I created the new portland post office on the primary domain server, it did the exact same thing, making a /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/ponc file structure, which again I copied to the portland server.
when I fired up the post office on the portland server, it did start and sat there looking like a post office (I did the --show option in linux), however none of the domains seem to recognize that there is a running post office. In fact, my domain in portland doesn't even know that it has a post office. It says that it sees another domain, but that it has 0 post offices configured so far. Consoleone on the portland server does not show a post office for portland.
ConsoleONe on the primary groupwise server does show the post office or I should say did, last friday. Today (Sunday) it's not there anymore.
I suspect my problem has something to do with mounting the file system of the portland server on the primary domain/post office server, but I'm unclear how those commands work.
Also, I'm unclear as to why I really need that if everything communciates via TCP/IP. Seems like it's only the portland server that physically needs to know about the post office physical file location. When I try using unc pathing (i.e. \\server\volume\location) ConsoleOne changes it to /mnt/server/volume/location.
Trying to find a concise document on this, but haven't found it yet.
    Any ideas?

If no instance of ConsoleOne see the new PostOffice anymore, it might be
time to recreate again, but this time do so on the server that you are
creating it for with that instance of ConsoleOne.
As for addressing within ConsoleOne for the Domains and PostOffices, make
sure they are pointing to the real location of the files
    So for your Portland server/domain/postoffice
    /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc
    /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/ponc
The only real reason for those file pointers are for the agents (MTA &
POA) to see their files, so the format needs to in relation to where the
agents are running. Everything else should be over IP.

  • External Domain

I have monitor up and running but for the life of me I can't seem to get the performance testing and acct collecting working. I am trying to follow the directions and I am getting stumped on creating the external domain. Do I have to setup a second GroupWise system to run a single domain, post office and user just so that I can connect to it using and external domain from my main groupwise system? Hopefully I have read that wrong and that is not what I need to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, this becomes a "dummy" domain. You create an external GroupWise
domain, make up a name (maybe Monitor), leave the domain database location
blank and just create it. Go to your monitor console. Click on
preferences. Scroll down to mtp settings and in the domain to monitor
choose your new external domain. Put in the port that the monitor will
listen on. In other words, Monitor will pretend to be an MTA listening on
this port. So, if monitor is running on the same server as an MTA this has
to be some open port. Like maybe 7110. Next in the performance testing
choose what domain monitor should talk to. And check the performance
testing box if you are configuring performance testing. Save that.
Now, in ConsoleOne go to link configuration. For the domain listed in the
performance testing above. Set the link to direct, tcp/IP and put in the
IP address on monitor, and the port you confirmed above (in my example
    7110).
Now go back to your external monitor domain and create a PO under it (like
MonitorPO). Then create a user (MonitorUser). Whoever is the accountant
for the GWIA should now set a forwarding rule to send the accounting
    reports to this user.
Let me know if that gets you going, or if you run into other issues.

  • Same usernames, internal vs. external domains, conflict when usingWebAccess

Currently running GW 8.0.2hp2 on NetWare 6.5sp8.
We have a single domain and single post office, and a single WebAccess
and single GWIA gateway. We about 25 external domains setup to allow
using external users' e-mail addresses our in internal corporate address
books and distribution lists following the procedure outlined here:
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/...a/a2zvyc4.html
The problem is that one of my internal users in our corporate domain/PO
has the same userid as a user in one of the external domain/PO's. So,
for example, their e-mail addresses are:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
Everything works except that my internal user cannot use GW WebAccess.
Trying to login to WebAccess results in the following error:
"Please login again. You may have typed your name or password
incorrectly. Remember that your user name must be unique."
If I either change my internal user's GroupWise userid, or if I delete
or rename the external user's userid, then my internal user can login
into WebAccess without a problem. So this does appear to be due to
non-unique username's. The WebAccess is seeing the internal and
external user names, and not allowing my internal user to login.
Is there a work around for this since the users are in separate domains
and PO's, or do I need to just rename my internal user's account? I
have no control over the external user's e-mail address, so I can't
    rename their userid.
Is there a way to keep the "default WebAcess" gateway from looking at
external domain's for user account authentication? I have tried setting
up a class of service in the WebAccess gateway to deny access to the
external domain, and that hasn't worked either.
    Thanks,

  • GW Monitor and multiple post office agents on one Netware 6.5Server

    HI,
I've not been successful getting GW Monitor (7 sp3) to recognize a PO as "known". Regardless of the setting I put in monitor.xml for the port assignment (1677), the thing reverts to port "0". This server is running a MTA only post office agent and a client post office agent. These may be related. Interestingly, the MTA IP configurations are:
    MTA only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7100 (My Note on this - this is from agmail MTA to agents POA which is IP ...28 and listens on 7100)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
    Client only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7102 (My Note on this - this is from agents POA/MTA to agents POA only which is IP ...28 and listens on 7102)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA only to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
Maybe I should make the outbound for the client only post office agent to be:
    Outbound - 165.91.107.28:7100
In any event, we need GW Monitor to report on the status of the POA at 1677 on the Agents server. Any ideas?
    Thanks Mike

Well, first of all the Monitor should be looking for 7101 for the MTA, 7100
for the first POA and 7102 for the second POA if indeed this is how you have
it set up. Are you sure you purposefully change the POA to listen on 7100
and put the MTA on 7101? That is confusing :) - most sites have the MTA at
the default of 7100, and the first POA at 7101, so it just looks weird to me
    - but it's perfectly "okay" to change them if you want to - but just
    confusing for long-time GW admins/consultants.

  • How to receive replies back to SAP user's inbox from external domain.

We are facing a scenario where an email should be sent from SAP to any external domain ( ie: abc.com ) and  I know that we can trigger outgoing mail from SAP but not sure about receiving emails to a specific SAP User id's inbox (SBWP). I was searching some information from SAP notes and found one (SAP Note:- 455140) but not sure whether it's possible in our current version(R/3 release 4.6C). Please confirm ASAP since we have to decide a key functionality based on this.

I have tried SCON -> Settings -> Inbound distribution.
But my question is how does the system receive the reply from the external domain. We can execute the send process in the transaction SCOT. But how do we initiate the receive process ? When we send a email from SAP to some external domain eg. yahoo.com, the recepient of that mail would see the mail as coming from the address that is configured in the SAP user master record (Internet mail) of the sender. So when a reply to the original mail is sent, it would go to the email address of the sender that is mentioned in the "Internet Mail" field of the SAP user master record and not to the SAP User Inbox of the original sender.

    Please try the following fix:
    Open regedit
    Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity\Identities\[email protected]

Sankar, your outbound send connector has an address space of *. So when you run "Get-SendConnector", you will see something like the following:

    Enabled
    Unix System Connection                  {SMTP:*.domfreebusy.contractor.hunti... True
    Outgoing SMTP Connector

    Mailbox Journaling Connector            {SMTP:pdwastap01.huntington.com;1}      True
The middle one with the {SMTP:*;10} in my case (you may have a different number than 10 in yours) is my outbound connector. So yours will show an address space of {SMTP:*;<some number, 10 is the default>}. HTH ...

I built a new Server and added it to my PCSD Tree. The new server name is

  • Proxy to Another Post Office's Account Failed

We have a wired problem here:-
    - Primary Domain is GW 703HP2
    - Running 4 Post Offices all 703HP2
    - 2 WebAccess Servers - 1 in 702HP and 1 in 65(Win2K)
Now, we have an user, USER-A, (in fact more than 1 have similar issue) who has Proxy Access to USER-B's account on another Post Office.
If he uses GW Client, he's fine. He can proxy access to USER-B's account without any trouble.
However, if he uses 702HP WebAccess, he can reach his own account but fails to proxy to USER-B's account with the error message "Your post office is unavailable. Please contact your system administrator."
Another wired thing is that if he uses 65(Win2K) WebAccess, he can proxy.

Yes, USER-B is ok using WebAccess-7 with his own account. The server itself is working fine if you're looking into your own account.
What we found out is that WebAccess-7 server fails to proxy to accounts on another Post Office. But our WebAccess-65 server can. Just don't what kind of configuration we missed or is that something wrong with the server.

  • [9505] Your Post Office is Unavailable.

Recently migrated Groupwise 2012 services from a single box to a split system with PO, Domain, and Monitor on one box and the GWIA, Webaccess & secondary domain on the second box. All seems well, except *some* users (not all, only a handful) are receiving the following message when logging into webaccess:
[9505] Your Post Office is Unavailable. The Post Office Agent might not be configured for SOAP. Please contact your system administrator.
Checking the webaccess logs reveals the following error:
    8:11:43, <SOAP>, -, INFO, [username], Login
8:11:43, <SOAP>, -, INFO, [username], Unable to connect to the POA @ http://10.1.10.35:7191/soap
10.1.10.35 is the IP of the previous POA - the new POA is 10.1.10.135
SOAP appears to be configured properly and other users are not having any problems. Why just these users?
    Thanks!

IP is correct in the webacc.cfg file - though not sure why the last line is commented out. Again, only some users are affected.
    Provider.SOAP.1.ip=10.1.10.135
    Provider.SOAP.1.port=7191
    #Provider.SOAP.1.url=/soap
Checked the TID 7012354. There was no garbage character that I could see, but the Display Name in the General Options was entirely blank. I put the user's Display Name in the field and restarted Webaccess and that user can login now. Wow. Weird.
I then tried another user that was getting the same error - turns out that user's Display Name is blank as well (I didn't make any changes), but it didn't matter - they could log in to webaccess fine - so now wondering if restarting webaccess was all that was needed in the first place? It's not making much sense. Why is this only happening to a few users? Why do some users have a blank display name under those general options? I only enabled the POP3 & IMAP online settings for those specific users and then checked via their client for the Account settings. Looks to be a tough setting to verify for 2000+ users if it can only be accessed via the user's client login.
I went back and unchecked the POP3 & IMAP Online setting for those users and restarted webaccess... everything still appears ok. so just weird.
Will have to monitor for additional user complaints - otherwise, looks now.
    Thanks!
