Configuring Delayed Failover / Loadbalancing  -EP6 SP10

Hi All,
We are installing EP6 SP10 (Single server set up) and plan to add a few more servers to facilitate Loadbalancing & Failover at a later stage. My Question is whether SAP Netweaver allows this procedure and if yes, would the installation steps for EP (initial installation) be the same, or would it different installation process to be followed?
Thanks,
-Mayur

Hi Rizwan,
   This is definitely supported by SAP.  You may just need to go to a higher SP stack.  Check out the High Availability page on Service marketplace.
http://service.sap.com/ha
There are links to the documentation, presentations, how tos, etc.  As far as changing you installation steps, the answer is no.  The initial installation installs your web AS with the SCS instance, the DB and then you put the portal on after that.  If you go back into the SAPinst installer you will find the option to add the server instances.
Hope this helps.

  • SSL and EP6 SP10 Issue

    We are running EP6 SP10 and trying to use SSL keys for secure access. We are using Hardware SSL key and it is configured on a seperate machine. When we use the
    https:// url for the portal it shows the log in screen and after loggin on it refreshes and displays the same screen in http:// format. Is there any SSL key activation that needs to be done in the J2EE Server?
    Also if we force the URL to https://portal, it works fine. Its just the login screen that throws us back in a http spin.
    Please advise
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    just trying to be of help - here's a link to the documentation for configuring SSL on the J2EE Engine: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f1/2de3be0382df45a398d3f9fb86a36a/frameset.htm">Configuring the Use of SSL on the SAP J2EE Engine</a>.

  • Upgrading EP6 SP10(j2ee,portal,KMC)  to SP11

    Hi,
    I am trying to upgrade my EP6 SP10(with KMC) to SP11.
    I downloaded all the patch files for J2EE, Portal &
    KMC. I unzipped all the sar files in to a common folder
    (sp_directory) using sapcar tool, exactly the way it is
    listed in the documentation. As a result, there are
    two main folders created in the root folder, one for
    j2ee and the other for Portal & KMC. The document says,
    I need to patch all the 3 components using the same SAPInst file. But, whenever I run the SAPInst exe file,
    it is taking me through the same steps that is upgrading J2EE alone. After running SAPInst twice, I checked the versions of these 3 components in the portal and found that only J2EE is upgraded. Neither Portal platform nor the KMC has upgraded. Is there anything else that I need to do ?
    regards
    Sudheer

    Sudheer,
       You have to upgrade each component separately. Don't unsar everything together. This is what you do.
    1. Unsar all the files required for J2ee upgrade.
    3. run the sapinst to upgrade.
    4. Delete all the folder/files directory created by unsar
    5. Unsar all the files required for EP.
    6. run the sapinst to upgrade EP.
    7. Delete all the folder/files created by unsar.
    8. Unsar all the files required for KMC.
    9. run the sapinst to upgrade KMC.
    10. delete all the folder/files created by unsar

  • 2 Switches - 2 Routers - 2 ISP , I need to configure auto failover

    Hello,
    I need a help please.
    I have 2 switches connected to 2 Routers and then 2 different ISPs.
         SW -----> Router(1) -----> ISP (Main)
          ||
          ||
         SW -----> Router -----> ISP (secondary)
    on R1 I did this:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2
     description TO_Internet_Switch
     ip address <ip>  <MASK>
     standby 1 ip (*WHAT TO TYPE HERE ?* ).
     standby 1 priority 105
     standby 1 preempt delay minimum 20
     standby 1 track 1 decrement 10
     duplex auto
     speed auto
     media-type rj45
     negotiation auto
    And
    interface GigabitEthernet0/3
     description "To ISPInternet"
     ip address <IP> <MASK>
     ip flow ingress
     ip flow egress
     duplex auto
     speed auto
     media-type rj45
     negotiation auto
    While on the secondary:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/2
     description TO_Internet_Switch
     ip address <IP> <MASK>
     standby 1 ip (*WHAT TO TYPE HERE ?* ).
     standby 1 preempt
     standby 1 track 2 decrement 10
     duplex auto
     speed auto
     media-type rj45
     negotiation auto
    interface GigabitEthernet0/3
     description "To ISPInternet"
     ip address <IP> <MASK>
     ip flow ingress
     duplex auto
     speed auto
     media-type rj45
     negotiation auto
    Firstly I need answers ? Am I correct into this ? Kindly need you assistance. Thanks :)

    Hello Sub,
    It's well understood. Now I have configured the BGP on both routers as of :
    router bgp 200025
     bgp log-neighbor-changes
     network <ip> mask <MASK>
     neighbor <ip> remote-as 35753
     neighbor <ip> password 7 03454F08265D2E1D1A
     neighbor <ip> soft-reconfiguration inbound
     neighbor <ip> prefix-list defualt in
     neighbor <ip> prefix-list ANNOUNCE out
     neighbor <ip> route-map ISP2-in in
     neighbor <ip> route-map ISP2-out out
     neighbor <ip> remote-as 200025
     neighbor <ip> update-source Loopback0
     neighbor <ip> next-hop-self
    Am I right on this ?
    Now, what are the commands that will make the auto failover work? where should be these command written? on Main router ? or both of them? what is the command.
    I appreciate your help all.

    I even tried to re-write the "run method" in tthe invocable in a way that caused it to, in a loop, perform a delay and then re-try its calculations when it received a runtime exception with the text "Storage is not configured" causing the retreival a new named cache each time but this did not help - it never seemed to recover...
    Since I dont see any of my application classes in the "class cast" trace-back I assume it is an Coherence internal problem or can you thiink about some user programming error that could cause it? I am by the way not using any long or "Long in my application...
    Best Regards
    Magnus

    Hi Magnus,
    The log you provided seems to indicate that the problem was caused by the de-serialization of the “AggregateFilterRequest” message. The only explanation we have is that you are using a custom Filter that has asymmetrical serialization/deserialization routines, causing this failure. Could you please send us the corresponding client code?
    Meanwhile, we will open a JIRA issue, to make sure that Coherence handles this kind of error more gracefully.

  • How to configure Radius failover in ACS 5.1

    Hi,
    I need to configure the ACS 5.1 to meet the following requirement :-
    1. ACS 5.1 will point to a RSA SecurID as the first authentication mechanism for the validation of user credential
    2. In the event that RSA SecurID is not reachable, the ACS 5.1 shall point to its local user database.
    I had no problem configuring for Point (1), but I am not able to let it failover to the local user database.
    Can any expert out there advise on the configuration portion?
    regards

  • Configuring JMS and loadbalancer with SSL termination? Has Anyone done it?

    Hi all,
    I'm having a problem getting JMS or even any JNDI lookup to work with a hardware load balancer and SSL termination. Has anyone used such a configuration? The load balancer in question is a Cisco CSS 11500 Series which has an SSL module. A client communicates with the CSS over SSL, the SSL module decrypts the packets and sends it for content switching and on to WebLogic as cleartext.
    Without SSL termination everthing works fine. With SSL termination active, Web service and web content all work fine, but I can't get SSL tGetting Initial context from ms01

    o work for a simple JNDI lookup. With SSL debugging turned on, the following output is given:
    When I compare the Server HTTP logs I see that an initial context lookup involves 3 HTTP requests, e.g.
    25.2.1.210 - - [29/Sep/2006:16:29:12 +0100] "GET /bea_wls_internal/HTTPClntLogin/a.tun?wl-login=https+dummy+WLREQS+8.1.5+dummy+%0A&r

    25.2.1.210 - - [29/Sep/2006:16:29:12 +0100] "POST /bea_wls_internal/HTTPClntSend/a.tun?connectionID=0&rand=3415396992694182025 HTTP/
    1.1" 200 17
    When my request goes through the load balancer I see the following in the HTTP logs:
    10.51.0.200 - - [29/Sep/2006:16:31:33 +0100] "GET /bea_wls_internal/HTTPClntLogin/a.tun?wl-login=https+dummy+WLREQS+8.1.5+dummy+%0A&

    10.51.0.200 - - [29/Sep/2006:16:32:28 +0100] "GET /bea_wls_internal/HTTPClntRecv/a.tun?connectionID=0&rand=6035654607615870287 HTTP/

    1.1" 200 5
    Notice the time delay in some of the messages.
    The following error appears in the WebLogic server log, however I've verified that all IP addresses referenced by the load balancer configuration match those in the WebLogic configuration:
    <29-Sep-2006 16:31:43 o'clock IST> <Error> <RJVM> <BEA-000572> <The server rejected a connection attempt JVMMessage from: '266014296

    probably due to an incorrect firewall configuration or admin command.>
    When a JNDI lookup is made directly to a WebLogic server on the https port, the client gives the following output:

  • SA540 Firewall Rules Fail when Optional Port Configured to Failover

    Today, I configured a client's SA540 for failover.  The primary WAN port is FIOS with a static IP address.  The optional port is Road Runner cable with a static IP address.  The failover tested successfully.  However, now the SA540 cannot be accessed on its internal IP address (https://192.168.1.1) and none of the firewall rules work any longer.  There are several rules but to name two; remote desktop port forwarding to an internal server, and HTTPS to another internal server.  Both rules use IP addresses different than the SA540's WAN IP address.  Additional external IP addresses were configured previously and assigned and they worked up to the point were the failover was configured.
    Now here is the strange part.  If the optional port cable is removed from the port, everything returns to normal, but plug it back in and problems.  I even tried disabling failover in the SA540's configuration and it made no difference unless the cable was unplugged.
    As you might imagine the client is upset about this.  Anyone have any ideas?
    The firmware is 2.1.18.
    Tony
    PS.  About an hour after I posted this, I tried moving the remote desktop external connection from one of the additional IP addresses configured in the SA540 to the dedicated WAN address and remote desktop sessions were then forwarded into the correct server.  Apparently, the additional IP addresses are not working with the two ISP failover configured, or at least it doesn't work in my configuration.  Any help on this would be much appreciated.  The additional IP addresses are configured in the same subnet as the dedicated (primary) WAN port.   Again, this worked until failover with another ISP was configured.

    This issue has been resolved. After much testing and discussions with the great guys at Cisco TAC, we determined that Verizon FIOS is doing something on their routers to defeat use of IP aliasing. If you have FIOS and you must have more than one IP address and expect to create an IP alias to direct traffic in a 1 to 1 NAT to a node on your network, FIOS doesn’t work. Contact with Verizon technical support is no help. They are oblivious to the problem and don’t want to be bothered.

  • Configuring System Landscape in EP6 SP2

    Please suggest a "definitive resource" for configuring our system landscape between EP6.0 SP2 and our R/3 systems, complimenting what we had configured in EP5.0 via the jcodestination.xml and systems.xml.
    thank you!

    Hi Jeff,
    this is for NW04 portal, but  most of it should be valid for EP6SP2 as well..

  • Configuring Automatic Failover for EPM Planning Cluster

    We are trying to test automatic failover using a Planning(11.1.2.2)/weblogic cluster containing 2 physical servers and a Weblogic proxy plug-in for OHS.
    I understand that to enable this we must configure in-memory replication of HTTP session states and to do this, (according to various sources including ID 779350.1) the weblogic.xml file must include a descriptor set up as follows:
    <session-descriptor>
       <session-param>
        <param-name>PersistentStoreType</param-name>
        <param-value>replicated</param-value>
    </session-param>
    </session-descriptio>
    Where should weblogic.xml be created or amended (if it already exists) for a Planning cluster in a standard scaled out EPM deployment in order to effect failover between the two servers.
    Thanks

    yes, it can be load balanced in hyperion registry i believe, seen it once only drawback is ,if a JVM goes down while processing a request it needs to be manually started, however the url will switch automatically

  • Question on configuring DHCP failover on 2012

    Is it possible to have dhcp A replicate all scopes as hot standby to dhcp B. Then have 1 single scope on DHCP B (thats not a scope on dhcp A) be replicated to dhcp A.
    So basically I have Replication going in both directions. One for all scope from A to B and 1 single scope from B to A.
    Can this be done?

    Hi  Rondefino,
    It can be achieved.
    We could configure failover for every scopes separately.
    Server B could be the standby server for the scopes on server A. And server A could be the standby server for the scopes on server B. They will replicate automatically.
    Here is the guide for configuring failover:
    Step-by-Step: Configure DHCP for Failover:

  • EJB access from C++ client / Failover+LoadBalancing

    We are accessing an EJB from VisiBroker for C++. The EJB is deployed in a WLS cluster.
    Trying to achieve something like 'failover', we discovered that VisiBroker supports
    multiloc addresses, so we are able to start our client as follows:
    ./client -ORBInitRef NameService=corbaloc::server1:8001,:server2:8002/NameService
    As a result, server2 is only used when NameService of server1 is not available.
    After connecting to a distinct NameService in a cluster, all further IIOP calls
    are routed to this cluster server only. If the server shuts down, a new NameService
    connection has to be made to get access to the other server and its objects.
    Is this correct so far?
    For the idea of 'load balancing' our EJB accesses, we didn't find a solution -
    so it seems that this is completely impossible or is there any trick we could
    use?
    Thanks for your help

  • How to Configure Exchange server in EP6.0

    Hi
    How to configure mailing server in Portal
    With Regards
    Azhar

    Hi Azhar
    You can specify your mail server on the Portal.
    Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration.
    You will find a field there to specify your mail Server.
    You may also have to specify this in the config tool of your WAS Server to enable email notification
    Take a look at <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/07/9bda3d5ed05610e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">this</a> .
    Hope that helps.

  • FEX-Uplink failover, loadbalancing

    I wish to understand more the technology within a vblock
    I will progressively have a few questions
    So here I go. pls be patient and thanks in advance...
    VBlock 720 with the following generic config
    2x Cisco 5000 Series Switch
    2x FI 6248
    6x Chassis 5108
    FEX 2204
    VIC 1240 (no Mezzanine Card)
    8x M3 Blade, 2 CPU
    4 x 10 G uplinks from each FEX to FI (port channel)
    8 x 10 G uplink from each FI to Ciso 5000 series swith (vpc)
    Assumptions:
    All Chassis are fully populate
    Each blade has consistient bandwidth thoroughput but of 6 GB
    When the blades connect to FEX A and FEX B, are the connections active active?
    For exampleIs blades 1 and 5 pinned to the same FEX port(s) on the same FEX?
    What is the method that load balances blade pinging?
    Assume Uplink 1 fails between FEX A and FI A, is Uplink 1 on FEX B overutilized.
    How does the VM decide which CNA port to send traffic?
    That it for now...

    see inline
    When the blades connect to FEX A and FEX B, are the connections active active?
    I assume you mean FEX=IOM in the chassis;
    Yes both fabrics are active; all VIC are dual homed to fabric a and b
    For exampleIs blades 1 and 5 pinned to the same FEX port(s) on the same FEX?
    You have the choice of static pinning (done by UCS Manager) blade slot to a IOM Uplink, or define a port channel between IOM and fabric Interconnect; port channel is the preferred mode.
    Static pinning depends on IOM model, 2204 / 2208 and the number of uplinks, e.g.
    2204 and 4 uplinks
    chassis slot 1 and 5 -> uplink 1
    chassis slot 2 and 6 -> uplink 2
    2208 and 8 uplinks
    chassis slot 1 -> uplink 1
    chassis slot 2 -> uplink 2
    With static pinning, if a uplinks fails, the corresponding slots fabric a or b, are down; there is no repinning to the remaining uplinks; teaming and multipathing will take appropriate action.
    If you have a port channel, and you loose a link, no problem, as long as there is at least one link up; your bandwith will decrease, but th vnic/vhba are still up
    What is the method that load balances blade pinging?
    Don't understand; please be more specific
    Assume Uplink 1 fails between FEX A and FI A, is Uplink 1 on FEX B overutilized.
    Yes, in principle ! but you have to design oversubscription end to end anyway !
    How does the VM decide which CNA port to send traffic?
    This depends on the hypervisor; take e.g. VMware ESXi and vswitch: load balancing can be configured per switch and / or port-group; important caveat: don't use IP hash, because fabric interconnect doesn't support LACP; by default its originating virtual¨port id.
