Configuring email to send plain text, not HTML

When sending a mail message from my Palm Pre, the resulting message was in plaintext. Now I have a Pre 2 with WebOS 2.1, my recipients get HTML-formatted email. I can't find an option to set this back to plaintext - is this possible?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I am having this exact issue too.  I have a trigger that sends an email using a stored procedure.  The dbmail is sending the email using the Exchange 2010 server SMTP.  It does not login so the email is relayed as user = "Anonymous".
The SQL dbmail email header is showing the following:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthSource: MX01.domain.local
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Anonymous
Here is the header if I send via Outlook profile using the legacy program I am trying to automate using SQL Server 2008R2:
Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-MS-Has-Attach:
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: -1
X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: <[email protected]>
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthSource: MX01.domain.local
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Internal
X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthMechanism: 03
X-Originating-IP: [192.168.13.66]
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Websites are plain text not HTML

I've been having a lot of issues lately with Firefox. I get nothing but plain text websites, it's always asking for the certificates even though it's added them. I've been an avid firefox user for years since my son said it's the best browser out there. Now I'm beginning to wonder.. I've cleared the cache, uninstalled, reinstalled a clean version and still same problems over and over.
    Please help.

  • Print email address as plain text, not as link?

How can I do this? I don't want my email address to appear underlined and in blue on my business cards, but Pages keeps converting it into a link. How can I prevent this?

I would suggest you get the free WordService from Devon Technologies. It has many useful actions and works in all apps that recognize Services.

  • How do I send Plain Text email and view HTML email as Plain text

On the Z10, how can I send a plaintext email message? And how can I view an email message as plain text?

I agree with everyone else here. For Blackberry NOT to allow text email just seems ludicrous. It is the kind of thing Apple would do to their hypnotized fans. Surely it isn't up to Blackberry to dictate how people send and receive email. There job is to enable people to work in the way that they want to work, which for many people means TEXT only emails. Like others I have run into problems using systems that expect text only emails (e.g. Toodledo) and just figured I would switch the Z10 to text mode. Shocked when I found out I couldn't. I really like my Z10, but can't help but feel in some ways Blackberry have made massive backwards strides, e.g. Blackberry Protect, Blackberry Connect (is that the thing that connects it with the playbook - I can't remember as I stopped using it when I realized all the features had vanished), etc. Come on Blackberry, we want killer features in the Z10 and not features killed :-)

  • Outlook 2010 "Send Plain text only" not working for individual contacts

    We have a Outlook 2010/Exchange 2007 environment
If you go to Outlook Properties of a contact and change from "Let Outlook decide the best sending format" to "Send Plain text only", it is supposed to force Outlook to send a Plain text
    email
    to that contact.
But it is still sending HTML.  This is happening with any contact I try this with.
While composing the email I can change it to Plain text manually and that works fine.
    Not sure what gives...

    Hi,
I recommend that you check the global remote domain setting if set to send plain text.
If not , the remote domain setting will override the change of the contact's properties when sending email out.
More details refer to the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232174(v=exchg.141).aspx
Remote domain settings   Remote domains define the settings for outgoing message transfers between the Exchange 2010 organization and domains outside the Active Directory forest. Even if you don't create remote domain entries
for specific domains, there's a predefined remote domain named Default that applies to all remote address spaces (*).
    Hope this helps!

  • My incoming emailes default to plain text even though view-message body as-originalHTML is checked

Most (not all) of my incoming emails (in particular from one main client's employees) always come in plain text, I want to be able to view all message in HTML format and reply in html format (this is generally fine fr my response, but the trail leaves all their comments in plain text).
I have view-message body as-originalHTML as ticked. Stil doesn't work. I run Thunderbird 24.4.0 on Mac 10.7.5. My server is gmail
FYI, In account settings I have ticked the box 'compose messages in HTML format". Not that that is relevant..

The email client they are using is relevant, and are you sure your getting HTML in the emails (ctrl+U will show message source)
The normal arrangement is if Plain text and HTML are sent they are Plain text, followed by HTML. But having both like that is not a problem.

  • How to convert plain text into html?

    Hi
I'm looking for a nice method which converts any plain text to html. For example, text: "Me and you\nand a dog named boo."Conversion result should be:
    <html>
    <body>
    Me and you<br>
    and a dog named boo.
    </body>
</html>I know, I could write such a code myself using regex. But I just wonder whether something like this already exists in the java api?

I have been having to change my email messages to plain text alternative in order to read the font.  Can I change the default somewhere?

Maybe I need to try a different route.  I was able to change the font settings for the general mail.  I am now thinking it is a problem with Safari or the internet browser.  I am seeing the bubble font only on messages that contain pictures ~ When I click to view the full message in the browser, the font changes to a readable font.

  • How to send a plain text and HTML email at once?

    Hi all,
I'm attempting to use cfmailpart to send a HTML and plain text email all in the same cfmail script.  I'm using Outlook and Gmail to test.  I temporarily changed my Outlook settings to "read all standard mail in plain text," but it does not read the plain text cfmailpart of the email, it just attempts to format the text from the HTML email and display the links.  If I remove the HTML cfmailpart from my cfmail script, the plain text version is delivered, but Outlook removes extra line breaks that I actually want to keep intact, and some of the other formatting is improperly rendered.  Is there a better way to make sure email clients hold the plain text formatting (even though there really isn't any formatting with plain text) and a better way to test?  The HTML version looks great in both Gmail and Outlook.
    Thanks!

Use the wraptext attribute of the cfmailpart tag to add line breaks.

  • How to send PLAIN text email from sp_send_dbmail using SQL Server 2008 R2?

I have configured Database Mail in SQL Server 2008 R2 (64) and it sends emails just fine. However the destination is recieving the body of thes message as Base 64 encoding.
    Snippet:
    EXEC msdb..sp_send_dbmail @profile_name='Outmail', @recipients = @recpts, @subject = @subj, @body_format = 'TEXT', @body=@body2;
As you can see I set @body_format to TEXT, but it still sends Base 64. I need to send plain ASCII text. How can I change this?

  • HTML emails render as plain text.  Restarting Mail.app resolves the issue

I keep seeing this problem every day. Occasionally when I receive an HTML email (e.g. a newsletter), the HTML isn't rendered -- instead some sort of plain text equivalent is displayed, which is full of entity codes and URLs to all the images in the HTML. Clearly not right.
If I restart Mail.app when this occurs, the HTML email is ALWAYS rendered correctly. It's really annoying having to do this every day!
It seems like it could be to do with leaving Mail.app running when my Mac is in Sleep mode -- the issue always seems to occur when I wake the Mac. When I have restarted Mail.app after the issue occurs, all incoming HTML emails are rendered correctly.
Has anyone else seen this issue and do you know of a workaround? How do I submit a bug to Apple?
    Cheers,
    Olly

    Hi again:
The preference file is located in the home folder (~library>preferences). Occasionally (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted and then cause all sorts of odd behavior.

  • View Received HTML Emails - ONLY Displays Plain Text!

I've got Apple Mail set up running two IMAP Email accounts (including .Mac), and two POP3 accounts. For quite some time now, Mail refuses to display ANY email message (no matter what email address receives the message) that has HTML/images in it. For example:
The Apple newsletters for Apple Computer, and the iTunes store that come out periodically, they never display with the images- it's always a boat load of hyperlinks, random text here and there and HTML all over the place. I've purchased e-tickets from United Airlines online and have been unable to print out my confirmation because the email comes through with just the HTML, some text and everything all over the place.
I operate heavily with my email and this is an issue that may get me to ditch Mail permanently if I can't get it to work properly. I am diligent about doing Apple Software Updates, I've gone through the Preferences of Mail time and again, I even erased my harddrive and did a complete system-rebuild just to see if this would fix the problem, and alas no such luck.
I'm not even getting the drop down bar that asks "Do you want to view images associated with this email?" And when I do get an email that I know has images in it and is in the form of HTML, the images aren't even located in attachments.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? I've tried deleting the com.apple.mail.plist file several times to no avail. Is there anything that I could be overlooking? I'd really hate to ditch Mail for Thunderbird or worse, Entourage.
    Thanks in advance.

    Or you could try this:
To make Plain Text the preferred alternative for viewing messages (which may or may not accomplish what you want), quit Mail, open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>:
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE
You can revert to the default setting with the following command:
    defaults delete com.apple.mail PreferPlainText
And you can reverse the setting regardless of what the default setting is with the following command:
defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool FALSE

  • Asx displays plain text not mms stream

I have used the Mac's Web Sharing Apache server to make a little page that you can click on and loads a asx playlist with a mms entry. This can be played with Flip4Mac on my computer locally through safari or it can be played on a PC with WMP10 or it can be played on FireFox on my mini with Flip4Mac.
However, if I try to access the site http://10.0.5.51/~benjibrown/asxhtml.html
and then click, the next page will load a text/plain version of the asx list instead of grabing the F4M plugin and running it through QT embedded.
Now I though this was perhaps my MIME types being served from the Apache so I made sure to add them in mime.type and restart the server. Firefox can access and play that url fine, it seems only Safari can't get the served MIME type asx and access F4M thus playing the mms. I have reset Safari too, thinking that maybe the cache messed it up.
    Thanks
