Configuring ESS in NWDS

Hi,
I have downloaded the business package from the service market place. I have installed NWDS trial version in my local PC. Can anyone please answer my questions.
1. How can i import the ESS project to the NWDS?
2. Is JDI required for doing the import?
3. If JDI is required, from where can i download the JDI?
4. Is there any other way of doing import other than using JDI?

You need NWDI (previously know as JDI).

For any ESS code modification you need JDI. Without JDI its not possible.

Hi,
To Use CVS
Following are the steps needed in NWDS
1)Window->Preferences->Team->CVS->Ext Connection Method.
Specify your connection method.
Open Perspective ->CVS Repository Exploring
Right Click->New->Repository Location->
Provide the details of your host server, Repository path...
Once connected check out the project.

Since NWDS is based on quite and old version of Eclipse, you can only use old CVS plugins. It might be hard to find a working CVS server + plugin combination, since the CVS plugins available for the Eclipse version used by NWDS only support older CVS servers.

Configure "ESS in MSS" workset

Hi All
We have a requirement to configure ESS in MSS workset from where managers will have the ability to enter leave on behalf of employees in their area of the organization structure.
But I search every where not getting right information
Can any one help me how to do ..

Unable to import Development Configuration at the NWDS

Hello,
I am trying to import a Development Configuration at the NWDS after successfully created a track.
When I do that I receive this error message:
Client J2E_APPL_D: absoluteLocalRoot
(='C:\workspaceDC\1\') is already used by another client.
1. I am the only one who is using this Development Configuration.
2. There is no such folder 1 under my workspaceDC folder.
Why is this happening and what can I do to solve it?

Transport process for configured ESS/MSS business packages to QA system

Hello Gurus!!
We have configured ESS and MSS business packages on NW 2004s portal DEV system. Everything is working fine now. Could anyone please explain me the process of transporting the configured business package content to the QA System. I know the general transport procedure for transporting content from one system to another system.
But wanted to make sure what it is like for transporting the business packages, for which lot of backend configurations have been done.
Any help in this regard will greatly be appreciated with valuable SDN points.

How can configure AWT in NWDS?

Hi, how can configure AWT in NWDS? I have configure the JSP part´s, but when i select the AWT folder´s appear an error that say it isn´t a valid root folder of AWT runtime, because:
- The installation didn´t finish successfully.
- The runtime of the MI Client doesn´t match.
Have i install anything more? I install MI Client and the application JSP work fine.

I find the solution, in NWMCLIENT12P_2-20000910.zip appear the installation for JSP and AWT.

Configuration problem in NWDS

Hi all,
I am trying to configure the SAP J2ee Engine in NWDS by entering the Message server port and host frm Windows- preferences-SAP J2ee Engine .
Host: <servername>
Port:<3601>
but it doesnt show up the j2ee engine view below with the instances .
( Note: i went to System Information(http://server:port/index.html) to find the message server host n port no. )
is there a possiblity that port is blocked , if so, is there any proper alternative for this ?

Port of J2EE engine will be in the form 500 ..
If the portal is installed on J2EE instance number 01,
Portal HTTP Port = 50000 + (100 * 1) = 50100
Also you need user id and password to coonect
Please check this..if not ask your basis consultants

How to configure ESS Salary Statement

Hello,
I am trying to configure the ESS Salary Statement in ECC->spro where I have specified the Z.....Form name in the various features.....but when I view it on the portal....I get the following errors:
com.sap.pcuigp.xssfpm.java.FPMRuntimeException: Form Z.......does not exist
for 1 user
and No payroll results found for personnel number <personnel number> for the other user...
Please let me know if I am missing something.

Please go to TCODE: PTARQ
Employee Self-Service -> Service-Specific Settings -> Benefits and Payment -> Salary Statement -> Form Using HR Forms Editor (PE51)
-> Edit Feature HRFOR: insert the constant $CEDT$ - this is how you tell to the program that you want to select the remuneration statement from the portal
-> Edit Variant and Feature EDTIN: need to insert the variant you create to call the remuneration statement
-> Provide Salary Statement as PDF File in Internet:
- Edit Feature EDPDF: insert the name of the remuneration statement
If you want to make some customizing on the form, use transaction SMARTFORMS.
To the employees which have acess to the remuneration statement on ESS, please make a check on IT0655.
And thats it!

Configure ESS Salary Statement and Quota Overview

I am having problems in displaying ESS salary statement on portal (EP 7.0) .....this is the error :
Form SAP_PAYSLIP_US does not exist
I feel there is some configuration to be done for this....also how do I configure Time accounts in ESS....is creation of Rule groupd a necessity...?

just a small check, the z smartform name, have you created this through HRFORMS.
For example in HRFORMS, u have maintiend HRFORM name say, ZHR_TIME_IN. Now this shoud be activeted and check the details. Here it would be showing the zsmartform name and report name.
Also, in backend config spro, have u maintained this ZHR_TIME_IN for TESD, TESP,TMW etc..u can select the relevant class. please go thru the node config help on HRFOR feature. u will get sufficient information here

Configuring ESS

Hallo my Portal friends,
I know many posts have been written on this topic. Nevertheless I didn't find the answers I'm needing.
I was wondering how the correct way to implement ESS is (from the pcd-administrators perspective). There is the business package in the SAP-folder. In my opinion it is no good idea to leave and change properties there. so I have mirrored the whole ESS content into my own namespace.
I have now changed some properties (e.g. disabled the tray) and added some lightweight functions. When it comes to test the ESS I start the ESS package in the runtime. When I check the pcd-url of the page i am currently at the pcd-path is correct. From the overview page I choose a function (e.g. benefits and payment). on the benefits-and-payment-overview-page I check the pcd-path again and now i'm on the original page that sap has provided (so I'm no longer in my namespace, and all my pcd-changes don't effect my pages anymore).
Where am I going wrong? Do I need to change the links in the resource customizing (for all the entries even if the pcd-page property is empty in standard). Should I leave everything in the original sap namespace and live with it?

I think the problem is that your ESS configuration on the backend is pointing to the origional SAP delivered iviews. The ESS Homepage is made up of configuration on the ERP backend system. In the Homepage Framework configuration. For example if you log into SAP transaction SPRO --> SAP Reference IMG --> Cross Application Components --> Homepage Framework --> REsources --> Define Resources --> Add Entry. Then page downuntil you see the EMPLOYEE_BENEFITPAY_ERP2005_PAG entry. Click display and you'll see at the bottom a ROLE:// link is defined.
Its possible that these links are pointing to the origional SAP content. There should be pleny of documentation on this in help.sap.com if you need more help.

I have a few quesions though .
1) It asks me to go to the visual administrator and choose SLD bridge from services and maitain parameters for HTTP connection . This is required to be done after SLD is configured . I have configured the SLD and set up the technical system in it . Now when I login to visual administrator there are two nodes "dispatcher" and "server" . If you expand both the nodes you get a node "SLD data supplier" which I believe is the same as "SLD bridge" that the above mentioned thread is refering to .I need to know in which of these nodes , "server" or "dispatcher" , i am required to maintain the HTTP parameter settings ?
2) The thread then asks me to take the help of

and set up the required JCO connections . I use the URL
The URL is http://<host>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcwdtools/Explorer
to access webdynpro content administrator . It asks me to press "maintain jco destinations" button to make a new connection . This button appears greyed out in my screen . The only button that is active is "check sld connection" . When I press the buton it shows me a windown with all the fields greyed out and three buttons which say "test connection", "start sld" and "close" .When I press "test connection" nothing happens . When I press "start sld" it shows me a waiting/processing sign and nothing appears after that .
In the detailed navigation I have two nodes
- sap.com
- system defined content
I open the second node and then comes the node "jco destinations " .Below this appears the message "no connection to SLD" . As far as I think this is because data supplier bridge has not been started by me and this is the reason why I am not seeing the connection to SLD . Am i correct or do you think there is some other issue ?
I need help in my first quesion which I believe will resolve my second problem . Please let me know if there are any other suggestions .
