Configure ESS/MSS Approval Email Alert
Dear Gurus,
I'll using the ESS/MSS module for request a leave and claim.Can we do the configuration in SAP,if the requestor fill the application leave using SAP then send it,after that the Manager get the email alert from Outlook to approve the leave using SAP system.And also if rejected the requestor also get an email alert.See below;
1) Is there a way to send or inform the approver that their have to approve the leave via email like outlook.
2) And to inform the requestor that their leave is rejected via email using Outlook.
Many thanks
/ShahHi Shahril,
Your requirement can be very well handled in the system.
Please follow the given steps:
1) Go through the SPRO node documentation for all the nodes under:
Personnel Management->Employee Self-Service->Service-Specific Settings->Working Time->Leave Request->Processing Processes
2) Copy the std. workflow 12300111 to a custom one and insert the Send Mail activity in the workflow wherever required i.e., Send Mail to approver for approval intimation and Send Mail to leave requestor for Rejection intimation
3) Use the above custom workflow in the node:
Personnel Management->Employee Self-Service->Service-Specific Settings->Working Time->Leave Request->Processing Processes->Specify Processing Processes for Types of Leave
Picture will be clearer to you once you go through the config node documentation as suggested above.
Also, you will need a workflow consultant to do the required changes in the workflow.
Hope this helps. -
Transport process for configured ESS/MSS business packages to QA system
Hello Gurus!!
We have configured ESS and MSS business packages on NW 2004s portal DEV system. Everything is working fine now. Could anyone please explain me the process of transporting the configured business package content to the QA System. I know the general transport procedure for transporting content from one system to another system.
But wanted to make sure what it is like for transporting the business packages, for which lot of backend configurations have been done.
Any help in this regard will greatly be appreciated with valuable SDN points.
Thanks,
~LBHello All-
Could anybody share some thoughts on how to transport business package content from one system of the landscape to another system of the same landscape?
All valuable answers wil be highly appreciated with good SDN points.
This is urgent!!
Thanks much,

Hi Experts,
I would like to configure ESS/MSS BS in my organization. I have been assigned the roles ESS and MSS . But ! I don't find anything when i click on each link(worksets) and it displays blank page in ESS and in MSS , It displays " Error loading template 0TPLS_0PA_C01_Q0110_V02_C" .
Can anybody help me ?
Thanks in Advance.
Suresh.Hello
You have to talk with some BW/BI consultants. They must activate the business content on the BW side in transaction RSA1 (including the analysis pattern)
Activate Web Template of BI Content
Please perform the following steps to activate a Web Template of BI Content:
1. Logon to BI System
2. Start transaction Data Warehouse Workbench (transaction code RSA1)
3. Choose register Business Content (left pane)
4. Select Object Types
5. Expand BEx Web Template in tree (middle pane)
6. Double click on Select Objects
7. Choose 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (or any other Web Template of the BI Content)
8. Object will be transferred to right pane
9. Press button Install / Install to activate the Web Template
Now, you can execute the activated Web Template.
Best Regards

ESS/MSS Installation to R/3 4.7 Enterprise
Goodday Guru's,
I've just received a requirement to install and configure ESS/MSS. Backend system is on R/3 4.7 and Portal is on EP 6.0. I have downloaded ESS 50.4 and MSS 60.1_19 for this requirement. There would not be any development work, only out of the box standard ESS/MSS configuration. I believe that most of you out htere have succesfully implemented such a requirement. Would you mind sharing your experience with me? Any step-by-step guide would be very appreciated.
P.S:- Just a quick check. For this requirement, do i need to download ESS/MSS/PCUI for WebDynpro component? I know that it is needed for ERP2004 (ECC 5.0).
Regards,
JohanHi Johan
the following is procedure that u need.
if u have all DVD/CD for installation than go by following.
if ur os is win2000 -- SP4 needed or use WIN2003 server
install J2SDK 1.4.2_08 or _09 don't use above.
set JAVA_HOME variable in win2000 enviorenment variable.
set path c:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin;
install oracle with no database (do not create any databse during oracle installation, look oracle installation documentation)
apply oracle patch.
set ORACLE_HOME under win2000 enviorenment variable.
set ORACLE_SID under win2000 enviorenment variable.
where sid is ur sap system id i.e EPD
install j2ee server.
install portal.
install CM if u want.
install ITS 6.20 on same system or Other win2000/2003 system (IIS required. look installation document)
create system i.e R3,ITS in portal according to document that i send,
import Buisness package for ESS/MSS into portal,
assign the ESS/MSS role to user in portal.
By default ther is no role for ESS with standard BP's create ur own role and Add tha workset using delta link,
u can find the import content under migrated content-> EP 5.0

ESS, MSS node not displaying in portal
Hi,
I am not able to view the ESS,MSS configuration nodes in SPRO. Even i have activated EA_HR component field in spro under Activation Switch for SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set node.
But i am able to view the ESS customizing nodes through PTARQ t.code.
Kindly guid me, why i am not able to view the ESS, MSS nodes in spro.
we are into ECC 5.0, EP 6, Patch level is 85.
Regards,
Devi.Devi,
PTARQ will suffice the need to configure ESS & MSS.
Still if you need to access through SPRO follow --> SPRO - Cross application components - Home Page framework.
or SPRO - Personnel Management - ESS.
Still if you dont find the nodes..check with BASIS n finally raise a ticket to SAP. -

Hi all,
I have configured ESS/MSS and the works using the config docs provided in this forum.
The problem I am having is as follows:
I have a user in ECC5 - ESS_USER1
The same is created on Portal - ESS_USER1
The logon works fine....
But if I logon to portal with another User ESS_USER2 which does not exists in Portal, I am not able to logon.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.... have I missed something....?????
thanx in advance
DeepakHere is the "chain"....
+portal user
.....tied to backend ECC5.0 with either SSO or User Mapping...
.....+ backend ECC5.0 user
...........tied to employee record by the employee ID
to tie a system user to employee record....
1)execute t-code PA30
2)select the employee id you need (personnel number)
3)enter infotype 0105 (communication) in the input box at the bottom
4)enter subtype 0001 (SAP userid)
5)select "create"(or "change") icon in the top left
6)on the screen the follows enter the SAP userid to tie to the employee and enter the date range when this goes into effect.
sooooo to answer your question, the backend users must exist in the front end portal UM repository (wherever you are pointing the portal to look for all your users...ie. user pool) as well. -

What a basis person can do for ESS/MSS?
I just wonder in addition to install/upgrade, what else is a basis person's responsibilty
in an ESS/MSS EP7 project? Any configuration/integration?
Thanks!SLD connectivity, Jco connectivity and reading the log files out of the zillion errors that we normally face when configuring ESS/MSS and ofcourse pointing fingers at each other to find a solution to a problem
hope that helps...
