  • Removing Mail For Exchange from Nokia 5800

Hi. My Nokia 5800 is running the firmware version v.30.0.011 (latest available).
I installed MfE via the App. Update.
However, now, I don't need it anymore and have removed it using the application manager.
The problem now is that whenever I go to file manager and try to send any file, it shows the option "Via Mail for Exchange" despite it being non-functional.
Is it possible to remove that entry from my "Send" list?

Only E-Series can handle security policies. It might happen that a N-Series or other S60 devices supports one or more policies but all are only supported by E-Series.
Device lock might work on 5800 buit if there is a policy that is not supported by the device access is denied. MfE supports all 2003SP and 2007 security policies and a subset of 2007SP1.
Please check the TSG on www.businesssoftware.nokia.com.
There are several other things the admin needs to check. Please try it with a E-Series device.

  • Foursquare "Smart" Installer Fails on Nokia 5800

    Hi there,
My foursquare application stopped working on my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music so I removed it with the intention of reinstalling it.
It turns that a new version of foursquare is available - running on Qt and requiring Nokia's "smart" installer to install it. However, when the installer gets to "Installing 2 of 6" it fails and gives the message "Installation Failed" followed by "To continue this installation later, select this icon in your application menu".
I have Googled and Googled and haven't managed to find a solution that doesn't require me to install a modified version of Symbian. Nothing else, including uninstalling and reinstalling the installer has worked.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    @jaredc
What firmware version is your 5800Xm running, key in *#0000# on dialler?
Although it would be a complete pain needing to backup all essential data you could always reset device to "Out of box" state and try installing desired application before restoring any data to device.

  • Nokia 5800 - 'Mail for Exchange' and 'Nokia mail'....

Ok may be a silly question but while looking through my 'installed apps' on my 5800, since i was thinking of 'clearing some stuff out' to make that little bit more memory on the phone (Currently I'm ~ 3/4 full)
I noticed that although MOST of them (games etc) are already on my memory card there's a few stuck on the phone.
Many I guess can't be removed (such as 'Symbian OS' stuff, 'OVI Maps' or other 'OVI Store' stuff) but what about programs that seem to be 'duplicates' (i.e. seem to do the same thing) ??
Why should I have 2 'Map' programs or 2 'Email' program etc ??
In particular - why should I need to have 'Mail for Exchange' AND 'Nokia Mail' installed at the same time. Both are ~ 1Mb each and both seem to be related to 'Getting Emails onto the phone'
Can't I just stick to one one them - say 'Nokia Mail' & remove 'Mail for Exchange' ??
Doinf so will only free up 1Mb of phone memory, but it'll help - or does one program rely on the other ??
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I've just noticed there's a couple of other programs 'In Phone memory' that seem suspicious.
One is called 'Chinese Lion (164Kb Supplier: QTEL) and the other is called 'Diamonds' (102kb Supplier: WANGP) - anyone know what these are ??
    Motto: Illegitimis non carborundum

Most users don't need both, but each has a different purpose which is why both are offered. Nokia Messaging is Nokia's in-house push mail service available for all consumers (currently it requires a certain type of operator subscription, but I understand that is about to change so that it is open to all). Mail for Exchange is primarily for business users whose company uses Microsoft Exchange for corporate mail.
Likewise, you don't need to Maps apps - GPS-equipped phones always have Nokia/Ovi Maps preisntalled, unless youe phone is an operator-variant from a network which has its own GPS service or you bought the phone second-hand from somebody else, I don't see why it would have another similar application.
For general memory management, this post which I made in reply to another user with memory issues may help:

  • Nokia 5800 Web Configuration

Yesterday I bought a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Before I had a Nokia 6110 Navigator and I used it also for surfing on the Internet with Wap with as APN "Vodafone Live" (or else the Vodafone promotion wasn't valid).
Well, I tried to configurate the new 5800 for surfing in Web but I really can't understand how to configurate it and how to set the APN!
Can someone explain me how to do? Because in the guide there is no explanation... (that's absurd though!)
    Sorry for my poor English!
    Bye, Marco.

i add information: this only happens with the browser connected via WLAN. until today, i couldn't install the opera mini browser from mini.opera.com page. today i connected via 3g and downloaded and installed opera mini without a problem. and about this: with opera browser seems to happen the same... the program asks me twice about the connection (i choose always "internet", with mi WLAN name) and the hangs in "connecting"...
so, viewing the evidences, it seems to be some kind of problem with the WLAN....
ah, one more thing to note: the phone was connected to the battery charger this last time i tried opera.
my settings in the default nokia browser are: connection: internet
and the settings in settings->conectivity are:
settings->conectivity -> destination-> internet i have the acces point of my home (priority 1) and my provider(priority 2)
    settings->conectivity -> WLAN -> settings -> show avail : yes
    settings->conectivity -> WLAN -> settings -> search network : 5 min
    settings->conectivity -> WLAN -> settings -> test connec: never
yes, the two browsers works fine with 3g internet (now i installed gmail, the application downloaded from his site)
bad, i need a solution for this... the WLAN was one of the things i was most interested about this phone... :'(

  • Mtp device driver installation on nokia 5800 fails

when i connect my nokia 5800 in media transfer mode, windows try to find the drivers for the mtp device, but it always fails no matter what i have tried. i need to fix this.
    Greece Nokia X6 RM-559 v40.0.002

    Hi,
I have gotten my Nokia 5800 to work in all connection types.
Firstly, I had updated my phone to the latest firmware available to me via NSU (v31.0.101), and made a back up of my contacts and memory card.
    1. Uninstalled Nokia PC suite, Cable driver, and PC connectivity (might not have got the exact names right).
    2. Ran the Nokia PC suite cleaner.
    3. Restarted the PC.
    4. Formatted the memory card.
    5. Did a hard reset on the phone (green button + red button + camera button - until country selection pops up during the power up of the phone)
    6. Installed Nokia PC suite (latest version).
    7. Connected the 5800 to the PC in the default connection, and let all the drivers install.
All the drivers, including the MTP USB device driver installed successfully. To be on the safe side, I changed the connection type from the phone toall the different connections to make sure it installed.
Also run the app update application first before restoring backups and re-installing applications.
Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Nokia 5800 XM failed firmware update/GPS issues

    Hello.
I'm currently having issues with my Nokia 5800. Firstly whenever attempting to update the firmware through the Nokia Ovi Suite, it fails with an "Error in the software update package configuration" error. I've read around on the forums, and I've noticed that other people have had a similar problem, but no real answer was given other than "I solved it, but I won't bother telling you how". There must be other ways to update the Nokia firmware than just relying on the Ovi Suite.
Also my GPS on the phone never manages to get a signal, no matter how much in the open I am. I'm assuming that this is probably due to the fact that I haven't updated the firmware, but if anyone else has any ideas why this is happening feel free to let me know!
    Cheers

Hi, I was having the same problem but I found that if you use the Nokia Software Updater rather than the Ovi Suite it installs fine!
    Hope this helps!

  • N_gage in nokia 5800 xpress music

why nokia 5800 xpress music dont has n-gage but nokia n97 has it and they are nearly to each other and they are from the last phones

After gathering information from various sources I have finally managed to compile a decent guide to install NGage on the Nokia 5800XM using the files which have been circulating the web for the past week.
If you have any questions please PM me on the forum or reply to the topic and I will try my best to help.
    Installing NGage
    Step 1
Download the NGage Install Package which I have compiled below:
    Step 2
For this to correctly work, you will need to have your phone hacked, this should be no problem providing you have a little confidence and common sense. I can confirm that using HelloOX does work as it is the method I used and I can use NGage fine. If you're phone is already hacked with HelloOX and you're having trouble, ensure that all patches (open4all etc. are applied and set to auto using ROMPatcher.
    Step 3
Copy the file "NGage 2.0 Installer.sis" to your phone and install it. You will need to sign the file using SignSIS GUI or a similar application, you should already have a certificate if you have hacked your phone as you need to sign HelloOX to hack successfully. The install process will take quite some time and you will be prompted to press "Yes" to various warnings. I can confirm that no harm has come to my phone from this process, however, proceed at your own risk. I take no responsibility.
    Step 4
Once NGage has been installed, you will be able to find it under "Applications" on your phone. The icon will be an orange "N" and it will say "Games" underneath. To play NGage games they must be copied to "E\N-Gage" with "E\" being your memory card.
    Controlling NGage
Since NGage is designed for phones with a keypad, and the Nokia 5800 is almost completely touchscreen, the controls must be customized. I have so far come up with two solutions, they are as follows.
    Control Method #1
This is the most stable and easy to configure control scheme, I can confirm this works OK.
    Step 1.
Sign and install "Virtual Keyboard.sis" which can be found in the "Control Method #1" folder of the Install Package.
    Step 2.
Run the virtual keyboard application from your "Applications" menu and then start the NGage application. You can use the Virtual Keyboard to control your games.
    Control Method #2
This control scheme is still a work in progress but, with some fiddling and a varying degree of luck, you may be able to get it to work. Some people have confirmed it working with different settings. I feel that this setup, if working correctly, would be the best way to control NGage on a Nokia 5800. I would like to request feedback from anyone who has this method working!
    Step 1
Sign and install "Virtual Keyboard.sis" and then "Virtual Key.sis", both of which can be found in the "Control Method #2" folder of the Install Package.
    Step 2
Start up "Virtual Keyboard" so that you have it running on screen and then proceed to start up "Virtual Key".
    Step 3
In the Virtual Key application, choose "Options" then "Load Mode" and choose "Custom Mode 1".
    Step 4
Press "Options" then "Add". Highlight "Original Key" and then press the Right arrow on the Virtual Keyboard application you loaded earlier. Then highlight "Mapped Key" and hold down the "Volume -" key then press the "Volume +" key. If all has worked correctly the mapped key should change to "Vol+". Then do the same for the following
    Vol+ .................. Left
    Vol- ................... Right
    No ..................... Up
    Yes ................... Down
    Camera .............. K
Then press "Options" and save your "Custom Mode 1".
    Step 5
Set the Virtual Key application to run in the background and completely exit the Virtual Keyboard application.
    Step 6
Start up the NGage application and try to play a game. Hopefully the Up/Down volume keys will control Left/Right when holding the phone horizontally, and the other keys should do what you mapped them to above. You may have to use the volume keys in the same way you had to set them (Hold down Vol- and press Vol+ etc. So now hopefully you can play NGage. Let me know of any other control schemes you guys come up with!
The installer and key mappers are freeware, but you need to purchase the games legally at www.n-gage.com.

  • Nokia 5800 sync problem (especially music causes m...

    Hello
All seemed well until a weak ago. I used the ovi suite for syncing my contacts, messages, photo's and music.
    Now, it all went wrong:
photos; works (after re-install, was empty before)
messages; works (after re-install, new messages were not read)
       contacts; not in sync
Music; this is the major problem.
When I installed ovi suite 2 months ago, all was well; I configured a map to sync; it worked.
Now I added some music to that monitored map, Ovi Music then crashed every heartbeat. Ovi suite said "ovi unable to copy tracks". But in the ovi suite I still play the songs.
I finally removed all nokia products from my pc (vista 32bit).
Then re-installed ovi suite, which I downloaded from the ovi website; and reinstalled ovi music.
Ovi music; does not read my phone none of the connection modes.
Ovi suite cannot copy any music to my phone, and cannot sync contacts anymore.
I still get the message "unable to read the tracks" or "unable to copy the tracks".
Ovi suite can still play the songs in the list from the pc.
If it weren't for ovi maps navigation, i'd seriously consider installing a non symbian system all together on my phone, my friends with a iphone never seem to have these problems.
I am now sitting here with a musicexpress on which i can't put any music. This sucks balls.
    ovi suite version: 2.1.1.1
    nokia 5800phone firmware: 40.0.005
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Do you recall what might have happened when system started malfunctioning?
    - I've added some music from my music library to the map that is monitored by the ovi suite to check for new music. I don't know if that 's the cause of the problem, but that is were I first noticed it. A day before I successfully downloaded a map for my navigator; that worked fine.
    - When I added that music; ovi music started crashing every second. I removed all music; deleted all 'Mdatastore.db3' files; another thread suggested this; but it kept crashing.
    - The first time ovi music player crashed, was because I clicked on a song that I've deleted from my control map. An exclamation point appeared; and the program crashed.
(with the new install ovi music player still shows the songs I've deleted on with the previous install)
    - I now have a fresh install of ovi music; it does not crash anymore; but it does not read my nokia 5800 either; still shows songs I've deleted couple days ago; now deleted them manually.
Did you install something (device or PC)?
No new apps on my device. I downloaded an extra map for my navigator though (Germany).
Did you uninstall something (device or PC)?
    No uninstalls either.
Did you reconfigure, change, delete, copied over, upgrade etc. Anything on the device or PC?
After I had the problem I upgraded ovi suite; did not work. I then removed all nokia software and did a fresh install of ovi suite and ovi music. But the problems remained the same.
Can you please provide any error messages (from sync) that might appear or any other related information related to failures? (thanks for the "Unable..." info).
Only the 2 error messages in ovi suite I already gave; nothing more.
Ovi music; no error messages; but it makes no difference whether my phone is connected or not; it just shows a picture of a wire with the standard message 'connecting your device. 1. .... 2. ..... '
What version of Ovi Player (Music) you have?
After the new installation of ovi music.
    Nokia ovi player: 2.1.10304.00
    (517 unprotected tracks)

  • Using Nokia 5800 GPS and accepting a call

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to answer calls while the GPS is on on my Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition.  Currently, when I use the GPS and someone calls, I tap the answer button, but I get a message that says not allowed.  I was looking around in the settings, but can't find anything.  I was hoping there would be a way to answer the call and turn on the speakerphone so I can drive and talk at the same time.  Anyway know if this is possible?
    Thanks!

Getting my first call during active turn-by-turn navigation, I wondered about this strange behaviour too. As it is I dont see any green phone icon on the navigation screen. With the terminal placed in the included windscreen fixture, it is hardly traffic safe to have to press many buttons to get the handsfree activated! Nokia could consider another option on the main screen when a call is waiting to be accepted, for going directly to speakerphone-mode, or at least a configurable option within the maps application. As of now it jumps back to the maps app, which induces the added (two) press of the application switch button. I suppose buying a separate handsfree kit might 'solve' this basic issue, but that should really not be needed out-of-the-box with a dedicated navigation edition. If someone figures a setting that I have overlooked, I would be pleased to get a hint, thx.

    Dear Nokia Careline,
The "No Return Policy" already be used here. Seem that I have no choice to go for other alternatives. Maybe I have to file the case to our local authority i.e. Tribunal Court Claim to exercise my consumer right here.
Perhaps, further blogs at Nokia discussion column, facebook, twitter might help to let others understand more about so-called Nokia Careline entertain their loyal customer.
If you insist your stand there, then I am always ready to go for my alternatives.
I won't let go unless you could satisfy me.

    Dear Mr. X,
    We appreciate your prompt reply.
We will be noting for concern as a feedback. However, please be informed Mr. Tan that Nokia has noted in the box regarding the said case.
The outage experienced by our sub-supplier was quite unexpected. Typically, the lead time for components such as this one is fairly long, and one cannot react to sudden changes at short notice. We value our relationship with our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and know that our sub-supplier is doing everything in their power to remedy the situation and return to regular supply.
The lack of TV out should not affect any other device functionalities besides that you will not be able to show/transmit pictures or video to external monitor/screen.
As Nokia does not have a replacement policy, we suggest to check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding exchanges.

    Dear NOKIA CARELINE,
Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they  buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.
    Regards,

    Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
    Greetings!
In response to your inquiry, please be informed Mr. Tan that due to a component shortage, a limited number of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has been manufactured without the TV-out functionality. It is possible that you have one of these devices. In that case, the sales package should have a sticker on the package and a leaflet inside the package that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Therefore we have labeled the affected sales packages with a sticker and included a leflet that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
The new batch of phones should have the feature back. As this matter is clearly stated in the sales package, it is not possible to return to Nokia. However, you may check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding the return of the unit in exchange for a version that has the TV-out feature. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

[Message:I bought a unit of Nokia 5800 last week for my wife. I discovered that the unit I bought is without TV support because when I tried to connect the TV cable that I bought. I tried to check the manual & pack box then only noticed a small label on the pack box stated no TV out supported. The retailer informed me that they only aware about this when I complained to them. I checked the discussion blogs, some stated because of worldwide component shortage so such function being omitted. I can't accept such explanation because I feel like I was being cheated by Nokia. Am I buying a pirated product now. Oh come on, how could Nokia so irresponsible to deliver the product with imcomplete function since TV out in general or ealier batch was included. Could you imagine if next time the product is delivered without GPS function, camera support, wifi & etc. by giving excuses of worldwide component shortage. What's the different buying a China Imitaion Product
now. I certainly wanna to return my unit if such function was omitted. Please reply your loyal customer ASAP.]

  • Port forwarding in nokia 5800

Hello Geeks , i want to access the Nokia 5800 Modem Or Router ... i needed to forward port to use some services like webservice..

I am assuming that the AirPort Extreme is set up to function as your main router handing all network services....but, since it is dangerous to assume anything.....so, the first requirement to check is to make sure that your AirPort Extreme is configured as the main router on your network.
On your Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme, then click Edit in the small box that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
The setting for Network Mode must equal DHCP and NAT. Is that what you see?  Do not make any changes at this point.
