Configuring Message Clasifications Exchange 2010 - Outlook 2007/2010/2013

I created Message Classification as described in:

New-MessageClassification ....
New MessageClassification is visible in OWA.
I stared deploy Message Classifications for Outlook 2007 using this

Of course there is small bug: "AdminClassificationPath"="c:\\Classifications.xml" but is should be
"AdminClassificationPath"="c:\Classifications.xml"
After set up it doesn't work. The same for Outlook 2010 and 2013?
Does anybody deploy Message Classifications for Outlook 2007 or 2010 or 2013 with success?
I use Exchange 2010 SP3 with all RU and Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 with all updates.

How do you know this is an old reoccurring message? Based on the content or time?
Since the MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration is correct, I suspect the issue can occur by certain client machine. At this stage, I suggest you disable OOF and re-enable
OOF on the problematic machine. If the issue persists, please refer to the following article to clean the problematic client’s Outlook rules. (run Outlook.exe /cleanrules in Run console.)

Outlook 2007-2010 keeps asking to login to exchange 2010 sp2

We Have Migrated our system from small business 2003 to small business 20011 using exchange 2010
there is varies versions outlooks working 2003/2007/20010 on windows XP and 7 workstations
Most are in the office on a 1 GB Lan but a number run across a software VPN
some not all Outlook 2007/2010 versions keeps asking to be login some regular, some only every couple hours

If you have enabled web-based publishing of your Offline Address Book (OAB) and your Outlook users get continuously prompted to enter their passwords, you need to check a couple of things:
Make sure Autodiscover is working perfectly before you made the OAB change.
Hold down the CTRL button and right click on the Outlook icon on the task bar, then select
Test Email Autoconfiguration. Unselect GuessSmart and Secure GuessSmart and keep
Use Autodiscover selected. On the Log tab, make sure Autodiscover is successful and that it was able to bind to an SCP.
Make sure that the autodiscover.domain.com entry is added to your certificate’s
Subject Alernative Names list.
If you are facing problems with Autodiscover, you should correct that first before attempting the steps mentioned below.
Make sure that you have defined the External and Internal URLs for the OAB virtual directory in your client access server.
Once you have made sure that Autodiscover is working OK, and that the credentials are being prompted for the OAB URL (and not the mailbox server), you need to check the IIS Authentication setting on the client access server.
On the Client Access Server running Windows Server 2008, open IIS Manager console.
Click on Default Web Site
Open Authentication
Note that only Anonymous Authentication is enabled. All other authentication methods should be disabled.
Temporarily enable Windows Authentication
Right click on Windows Authentication and choose Advanced Settings
Uncheck Enable Kernel Mode Authentication and click
OK
Disable Windows Authentication
Do an IISRESET
Also make sure that kernel-mode authentication is disabled for the RPC virtual directory.
Restart Outlook. You should no longer get the prompt for credentials. Test the configuration with Outlook Anywhere clients as well, if you have enabled Outlook Anywhere on your Client Access Servers.
You may need to repeat this configuration on all Client Access Servers that are enabled for Web-based publishing of Offline Address Book (OAB).

How do i connect manually to Exchange 2013 from Outlook 2007/2010 in another forest?

Hello All,
I have a source organization: Windows 2003 domain + Exchange 2010 SP3 + smtp domain acme.com
Target organization: Winows 2012 R2 domain + Exchange 2013 CU3 + smtp domain acme.com
We are migrating to target organization.
I want to connect Outlook 2007/2010 to their target mailbox (Exchange 2013) from a machine which is joined to Source DOmain.
I couldn't use autodiscover, because as the machine is joined to source domain, autodiscover it's mapping to Exchange 2010.
It only works when I machine is joined to target domain.
Any idea how to connect manually to eXCHANGE 2013 mailbox from a machine which is joined to source domain?

Firstly, I’d like to explain, Autodiscover service can be used cross forest:
1. the two forests must be trusted.
2. configure a mail contact in the original forest.

Outlook 2007/2010 only prints to default printer

We use the following command to add network printers to XP PCs' (this saves each user of the PC having to find and install the network printer themselves)
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n\\machine\printer
This adds the printer for all users of the PC, however Outlook 2007/2010 only allows the user to print to the default printer, regardless of which printer the user selects.
When printing from Word/Excel or any other application the print goes to the selected printer.
Has anyone else had this problem, and found a solution, or know why Outlook only prints to default but other office applications print to other printers correctly ?

I am having a similar issue to ferdz2013.
I am running terminal services on server 2008 R2. This is in a domain environment, the user has permissions to the color printer in question and can print to it using Word and notepad. However in Excel, it will not print to the color printer.
Even if I select the color printer as the default printer, it only prints to another BW printer. In fact, there are .......
Well, as I was writing this, after troubleshooting it for an hour, it fixed itself. I was going into his control panel to count the network printers installed (about 5) of which he could only choose from 2 in excel. Suddenly, he has only
two installed. We can print to it, but we can't choose color now.
I believe this is a domain controller issue, where he is attached to one DC, and I am attached to a second DC, where I change the AD permissions. It took an hour for them to exchange this information.
Just something else to think about.
Now I need to figure out why he can only select BW.

Keep getting the "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account" message when I try to log in via the
iCloud Control Panel, Outlook 2007/2010 can not find the servers, but logging in via web using Apple ID

Agree with Keith, there is no MB # limit, however there are practical concerns such as DB size and how that effects recoverability as well as performance. In terms of extremes we had one major educational customer that had 35K Mailboxes in
a single database so you can utilize a ridiculous # of mailboxes in a DB if desired. IMO you are better off to keep the # of mailboxes to a reasonable level, i.e. no more than 250-500 mailboxes per DB

Thunderbird emails over to Outlook 2007/2010 How

I have 2 computers here in the office that have Thunderbird install on them and my boss would like for them to be transferred over to Outlook 2007/2010 with out any data loss. Every thing I have read has inform me that there could be some data loss.
Is there any way to do a complete data transfer without lossing any data to Outlook 2010 without using express.

The easiest way is the baby step route-- at least you will not need to buy any software (or load any malware).
1. Get an IMAP email account somewhere. The only free version I know of is through Google, although if you have a web server somewhere you probably can get an IMAP account there. Set this IMAP account up on Outlook: it's easy to
do and both Google and Microsoft have help pages to walk you through it. If you need help, Bing or Google this subject, followed by either "site:google.com" or "site:microsoft.com" in the search box. Also, set this account up on your Thunderbird
mail client as well.
Now you should have both identical IMAP accounts set up, on Outlook and Thunderbird. Make sure you have sync'd both to the server when choosing options, so your client computer and server both mirror one another.
(Of course, if your Thunderbird account was an IMAP account to start with and not a POP account, you could avoid setting up another account and instead simply set that up on Outlook without any conversion, so I'm assuming you are inquiring about a
POP account in Thunderbird. If you have an IMAP account in Thunderbird sync'd to the server, all you would need to do is to set that account up in Outlook, and all your mail will show up by itself, after a pause).
2. In the POP Thunderbird account, just drag all your folders from your old account over to the new IMAP account, which also exists on Outlook. (I do this all the time by the way, move folders between various mail accounts that exist on
both clients.)
So now all your folders will show up in Outlook on your new IMAP account and can be dragged, copied, deleted to any other Outlook mail account. One caveat that people (me) sometimes overlook if new to IMAP: they still need to do .pst backups, even
though the server/client are sync'd. If one accidentally deletes a file or a folder, say from a Unix type system, or corrupts files by some other route, it can still be lost--so back-ups are very necessary.
Any address books in Thunderbird will need to be moved separately, in an exported file.
Hope this helps. I do stuff like this all the time by the way, it's helpful especially when I have to convert a very old program or 'can't get there from here,' to go to some intermediate destination.

Migrate NK2 file from Outlook 2007 to 2013

Hi everybody. We're moving from Outlook 2007 to 2013. Is it possible somehow to migrate the NK2 file containing users' autocomplete email address to Outlook 2013? or does 2013 automatically pick it up and use it from the existing profile?

First please note: The Auto-Complete List file (.nk2) is discontinued since Outlook 2010. The Auto-Complete List entries are now saved in your Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox or in the Outlook Data File (.pst) for your account.

Out of office sending out old messages - Exchange 2010 - Outlook 2007

Tracking down an issue of a user (I think it's only one) having their Out of Office Message always being a previous message from a year or two back. Doesn't matter if it's changed in Outlook 2007 or in OWA.
I've read some older post on this, but didn't find a clear answer.
This current Exchange 2010 setup is a migration from 2003. Could this be a leftover migration issue?
Anybody have this happen recently?

OUTLOOK 2013 permission shared calendar Free/Busy doesn't work for some the users Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003 that use outlook 2007/2010

We are in coexitence organisation (transition Migration) Exchange 2003 sp2 and Exchange 2010 sp1.
Users in Exchange 2003 use outlook 2007 and outlook 2010
Users in Exchange 2010 use outlook 2007, outlook 2010 and outlook 2013.
Issue: users in Exchange 2003 can't open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
User in Exchange 2010 with outlook 2007 can't also open outlook 2013 user calendar when he has Busy/Free information as default permission in his calendar.
Is it normal ? or exist some configurations to do in order to coexist all thoses clients and servers ?

Hi,
Does this issue occur on Outlook only or both Outlook and OWA?
Since you have double checked the permissions via multiple methods, it seems there is nothing problem on permission. Please make sure the migration from Exchange 2003 server completed successfully.
If in OWA everything goes well (cannot see details), it should be an issue on the Outlook client side.
I suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
I suggest re-create profile to refresh the caches.

Outlook 2007/2010 with Exchange 2010 missing tasks operation has failed only on PC not OWA

We have searched this topic to no success I'm baffled as to how to resolve this problem.
End user software: Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010,
Server side: MS Server 2012 R2 with MS Exchange 2010
Scenario: We have merged 2 forests together to a new forest. Months before hand had rolled out exchange 2010. A majority of users in
forest2 still are on Office 2007 where as users in
forest1 are nearly all on Office 2010.
Now so far we have 3 users (from Forest2) whom have reported 'missing tasks' with the message 'Operation has Failed' when attempting to view their tasks.
We have ran the outlook commands related to this type of issue that clear the reminders and resetting them with - No Success.
They have no issue when using OWA, or Outlook via mobile device. The issue only occurs on PC. We have tried profile rebuilds, fresh SOE, the issue appears to be resolved but the next time the user opens Outlook the problem comes back.
On the server we have ran all the integrity checks no corruption has been found in any way.

I recommend that you try the following method on client PC and then check the result:
Click Start >> Click Run >> Type outlook.exe /resettodobar
>> Click OK.

it to work for all MS Outlook client of computers not joined to my domain.
How can I go about this? Does expired password reset work on MS Outlook client (2007, 2010 and 2013) computers not joined to the domain?

Based on my known, I'm afraid that there is no way to reset expired password if your Outlook client computers not joined to the domain.

Outlook 2007/2010 hangs on Windows 7

Hi all,
We are all of suddenn facing issue where Outlook hangs/freezes or stop responding while accessing the pst files over the network.
The machines are running on Windows 7 with either Outllok 2007/2010. Exchange server version used is 2003 Sp2 running on Windows Server 2003 R2 - Enterprise .
But if the .pst files are stored locally the Outlook works fine, they are currently stored on the file server.
I am unable to understand what could be the cause of the issue, machine is fully patched and also the same machine were working 3 months back. Only difference is now more machines are on Windows 7.
Can anyone pelase assist.

As what ED says, there are some limits to using Network Stored PST files in Outlook. Please use the local PST file for Outlook using.
If there is a remote .pst file (over a network link), Outlook tries to use the file commands to read from the file or write to the file. However, the operating system must then send those commands over the network because the file is not located on the local
computer. This creates lots of overhead and increases the time that is required to read and write to the file. For more information about it, please refer to the following articles:

Outlook 2007 & 2010 password promt

I have just migrated from exchange 2007 to 2010, and now, on Every windows XP computer, the PCs are prompting for a username and password. This is happening to both outlook 2007 and 2010. I made sure that the required SP and CU have been installed
and it's still happening.
I have performed the following, with no success:
1. reset the user's password in AD
2. deleted the .ost file
3. deleted the outlook profile4.
ensured that it has the latest SP, and CU updates to be compatible with exchange 2013

This solved my problem, I just have to perform on this on all the xp machines.
You must set the LmCompatibilityLevel on your client to a value of 2 or
3. To do this, follow these steps.
1.      Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the
Open box, and then press ENTER.
2.      Locate and then click the following registry
subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
3.      In the right pane, double-click lmcompatibilitylevel.
4.      In the Value data box, type a value of 2
or 3 that is appropriate for your environment, and then click OK.
5.      Quit Registry Editor.
6.      Restart your computer.

Exchange 2003, Outlook 2007 and Free/Busy options

We are using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007 our Free/Busy options are not showing up, is the a copatibility issue between the two?
