NarendraHi Everyone,
While installing ASCS, Run the below mentioned command:
sapinst.exe SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<Virtual Host Name> as it was mentioned in the Installation guide. This command is valid for ASCS Step only.
Call the sapinst.exe with out any command line arguments for rest of the steps.
Hope this will reslove your issue.

MSCS node move and lost sessions
hi there,
I'd like to know if sessions lost during an MSCS node move is a normal behaviour with Microsoft Windows 2000 AS, SAP R/3 4.7 (CI instance) or there's something wrong with our configuration.
thank you.Hi,
We just completed the SAP installation on Cluster. Loosing sessions when you move the group is normal behavior. SAP resource will be restarted on the surviving node. Hence the user will loose the connection.
Check http://www.microsoft.com/NTServer/Support/faqs/clustering_faq.asp for more details:
For client-side applications that have "state-full" connections to the server, a new logon is typically required following a server failure. In many cases, this approach is required for security purposes. For example, this is how SAP R/3 works--if the server connection is lost, the user is prompted to log on again to make sure it's the same user accessing the application.

Any ideas for starting mssql in a windows live environment from a drive that has windows installed
This will probably be a strange question,
If you have a server that has mssql and you boot the server into a live windows environment ( loaded into memory on the server much like a live distro of linux.) is there any way to start mssql in that live environment? im guessing here, maybe
load the hive, copy some things to the live environment?
this can be done with linux and mysql and any other application/software installed in linux without issue. i was wondering if there was something similar that could be done in a windows live environment.
thanks for reading.Hi anita,
I’m writing to follow up with you on this post. Was the problem resolved? If not, as other post, you need to explain the detail about your issue about starting SQL Server.
What is a live windows environment, in addition, we need to verify if you want to start SQL Server Service after installing SQL Server instance in your Windows Operation System.
Usually, if you start SQL Server service, you can use SQL Server Configuration Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, net commands from a command prompt, Transact-SQL, or PowerShell. There is an article about how to start , stop, pause, resume, or restart
the Database Engine and so on.

Does the pro works in a windows network environment
I would like to purchase a macbook pro (15") but I'm not sure if it will work in a windows network environment.
please help!! does the pro works in a windows network environment
My situation:
I work in a company 2500 employees, 3 locations, 7 sub-locations 1 sever. almost 80% of the locations is/will be wireless connected.
need a reliable fast and tough laptop to support users on all locations.
leonardIt would be neat though, to be able to connect
wirelessly on my Dell WinXP laptop over this dial-up
connection at home, the few times I'm going to use
it. So I thought eBaying one of those nice "old"
hockey puck Airport Extremes with built-in 56k
modem.
That should work.
From what I understood, the AE doesn't have a
web-based configuration interface, like most
broadband routers have, but one needs to configure it
installing a software utility, right?
Correct
Being in a
Windows only environment, will I be able to configure
my Airport Extreme-to-be using the Windows software
on
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75422>
Yes.
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport42forwindows.html
? Does anyone of you have any experience with this?
Yes
If so, could you reassure me that this is actually a
feasible idea?
Yes if does work.
Does the AE dial-in automatically whenever you're
generating traffic, by the way, or do you still have
to establish the connection manually?
You can configure it that way, but it is easier to use Jon Sevy's Java utility.
Jon Sevy has a Java Utility for this purpose.
You will need Java in order to run the utility -

Howdy,
I'm trying to enable my system with WinRE but all to no avail. What could be wrong?
The partition layout is as follows:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-Partition -DiskNumber 4
DiskId: \\?\scsi#disk&ven_msft&prod_virtual_disk#2&2e87576f&0&000002#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}

3 630194176 128 MB Reserved
4 E 764411904 95 GB Basic
5 102769885184 4.29 GB Recovery
I formatted this 1st recovery partition into FAT32 and mounted the volume as R:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-Partition -DiskNumber 4 -PartitionNumber 1 | Format-Volume -FileSystem FAT32 -NewFileSystemL
abel RECOVERY -Force -Confirm:$false
Then I created the storage folder for the Recovery Environment on this R: volume:
PS C:\Windows\system32> mkdir "R:\Recovery\WindowsRE"
Directory: R:\Recovery
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name
d----- 13.01.2015 20:15 WindowsRE
And copied the WinRE.wim file from the storage folder on the Windows partition:
PS C:\Windows\system32> xcopy /H E:\Windows\System32\Recovery\Winre.wim R:\Recovery\WindowsRE\
E:\Windows\System32\Recovery\winRE.wim
1 File(s) copied
Finally, I attempted to enable the copied WinRE and registed it in Windows like that:
PS C:\Windows\system32> ReAgentc.exe /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE\ /target E:\Windows
Directory set to: \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk4\partition1\Recovery\WindowsRE
REAGENTC.EXE: Operation Successful.
However, checking the status with Reagent returns that WinRE is DISABLED:
PS C:\Windows\system32> ReAgentc.exe /info /target E:\Windows

Why is that? What am I doing wrong here?
How do I properly prepare OS for recovery?
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...The target drive with location of WinRE.wim file MUST be NTFS formatted.
Here's what you need to do to enable WinRE.wim that is located on another partition (Partition 1 in my case):
1. Disable the current setup:
C:\Windows\system32>reagentc /disable

2. Check the status:

When in Windows 7 environment I can see and access my mac drive and identities.
Greetings, I am running Mac OS and Windows on MBA. When in Windows 7 environment I can see my mac drive and identities and access the data on them without any security password etc. Can this be avoided, I don't want access/unsecurely access Mac drive.
Hi,
Please check the following settings:
1. In windows 7, try
Secpol.msc in start box and open Local security policy.
2. Expand "Local Policies" and select "Security Options"
3. Locate "Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level" in the list and double-click it.
4. Change the setting from "Send NTMLv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated"
5. Network Security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP Based (including secure RPC) Clients
6. Change the setting from "require 128 bit" to unchecked (No Minimum)
7. Click OK, and exit.

Windows Intune Subsription Problem - Configuration required to connect to Windows Intune Service
Hi,
Has anyone come across this description message before : Configuration required to connect to Windows Intune Service?
I've added an Intune Service to my Site, but I've got the above message.
I'm not exactly sure what it means.
Can someone help.
Maybe I've not done something that I need too.
ThanksWindows Intune Service is a component of SCCM. If you have not added Windows Intune Subscription, the component will not be installed. Check the Component Status in Monitor Node.

Set-up the Airport Extreme in a Windows only environment
Hi all
Here's the deal. Being abroad for a couple of months, my employer has fixed me a free dial-up internet connection for my temporary home. At work (abroad, that is), I have a broadband connection, so the home dial-up connection is only for very sporadic use, as most of what I'm doing over the internet can be done during the working day, at broadband speed.
It would be neat though, to be able to connect wirelessly on my Dell WinXP laptop over this dial-up connection at home, the few times I'm going to use it. So I thought eBaying one of those nice "old" hockey puck Airport Extremes with built-in 56k modem.
From what I understood, the AE doesn't have a web-based configuration interface, like most broadband routers have, but one needs to configure it installing a software utility, right? Being in a Windows only environment, will I be able to configure my Airport Extreme-to-be using the Windows software on <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75422>? Does anyone of you have any experience with this? If so, could you reassure me that this is actually a feasible idea?
Does the AE dial-in automatically whenever you're generating traffic, by the way, or do you still have to establish the connection manually?
Thanks for the replies

You can configure it that way, but it is easier to use Jon Sevy's Java utility.
Jon Sevy has a Java Utility for this purpose.
You will need Java in order to run the utility -
CONVERTING TWO NODE RAC ON WINDOWS TO SINGLE INSTANCE
I got question about a two node RAC on Windows.
One of our vendors is hosting our oracle enviroment and we are planning to bring in the datacenter in house and manage it ourselves.
Current they have a two node RACon windows
The new enviroment we are building here , we want to get rid of RAC and bring it back to a single instance environment.
How do i approach this?
1. My first option was to create a new database server and do the export dp from one of the node and import to the new single instance enviroment.
My conncern is can you do export from RAC database and import it to a non RAC enviroment?
2. My second option is to delete one node on the two node RAC and then do export dump or cold backup and copy the database files and necessary config files.
let me know how i can approach this.....Okay guys after digging aroung i found the following approach.....
Cloning Oracle 10gR2 from RAC Environment to Single Instance Environment will raise the following error
ORA-29702: Error occurred in Cluster Group Service Operation.
The new instance is looking for CRS on new single instance non RAC environment.
For UNIX platform follow the following steps:
- Shutdown the instance which is cloned to non RAC.
- Shutdown all the listeners.
- Relink Oracle executable with rac_off option.
$ make -f ins_rdbms.mk rac_off
$ make -f ins_rdbms.mk ioracle
- Remove all the parameters from init.ora which points to second instance
and it is on other node.
- Remove cluster_database parameter
- Remove undo_tablespace parameter which points to second instance
For Windows Platform follow the following steps:
- Shutdown the instance which is cloned to non RAC.
- Shutdown all the listeners.
- Rename following file in %ORACLE_HOME%/bin directory: orarac10.dll to orarac10.dll.bak
Give me your thoughts, there is nothing on Metalink.... -
Configuration Control Node not getting displayed in Sol man
Hi Experts,
At Plant Maintenace configuration node Configuraton Control node needs to be configured to use IE4N Transcation.
Where as this node is not visiable in my Solution Manager setting. The same can be seen in Dev & Qulaity system.
Please guide for resolving the issue.
RameshHello,
The IE4N transaction is not available in Solution Manage.
If you are asking how to configure a Plant Maintenance Configuration Control node to use transaction IE4N, that question may be better asked in a forum specific to Plant Maintenance. Are you refering to not seeing this node in the System Landscape in
Solution Manager. More information would be helpful.

In Windows 8 environment--can't print from Adobe reader
Hi there. I have problems printing from Adobe reader in a Windows 8 environment. The printing defaul is "OneNote", and I can't get to the print screen to change it to my normal printer. When you try to print (with button or Ctrl-P) the print screen opens for a split second and then Adobe reader closes.
I would like to disable "OneNote" as the default, but can't get the print screen to stay open long enough for me to select my regular printer. I would be grateful for advice. I am sure there is an easy fix--I just don't know what it is. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Adobe reader, so i was able to print for the rest of that one day. Nest day--back to square one.
Thanks.Did all the updates thru 8.1.7. Now it tells me to print the document I need to activate Adobe which I did when I installed it. Under the Help screen the activation tab is greyed out. If I did de-activate it on my old laptop I don’t think it would change the state of this tab.

Hello,
I am running Application using XP mode and Virtual PC on Windows 7. I have 8 GB RAM and more than 300 GB free disk space. When I launch application in XP, I receive following error
Required configuration:

and I do not see any other options to resolve this problem.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
GaneshThis is a thread that discusses your problem.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/12a17fa5-ddab-4480-8973-1a13bfb2e8fd/need-more-than-16bit-color-depth-on-windows-xp-mode?forum=w7itprovirt
Your app is probably calling for 32-bit color, and XP Mode with
integration features doesn't support that. There's 3 ways around it.
one, is to enable remote desktop in XP Mode and connect to the VM with
remote desktop.
2nd is to turn off the integration features and then you can set the XP
Mode desktop to 1024x7687 and 32-bit color
and 3rd, if you app supports 24-bit color, there's a registry hack to do
it. It's in the thread I posted above.
