Configuring MSS 60.1.5

Hello All,
I've configured ESS BP in my Portal successfully and it's running perfectly fine. Now i've imported MSS also without any problems. Now the issue is when i'm launching the My Staff iViews it gives me a message "Could not connect to the R/3 System" . These iViews using the system object "SAP_R3_HumanResources" which has been used by the ESS iViews also. Now ESS iViews are working fine with the same system object but MSS iviews are giving me the error message.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Im having the same problem. I recently installed MSS 6.1.5 into our EP 6.0 SP14 ontop of a already installed 6.1.2 (Web Dynpro, which is working great!). We did this, because the new 6.1.2 Web Dynpro version is lacking of scenarios.
Anyway, the Config Guide of 6.1.5 doesnt say anything about what System-Configurations you have to setup in order to connect to a backend System.
Does anyone know how to setup the Backend-Connection for the 6.1.5 MSS?

Steps to configure MSS:
1 - Deploy MSS .sca to your J2EE Engine via SDM
2 - Deploy PCUI .sca to your J2EE Engine via SDM
3 - Make sure you have a SLD available, or you can enable the local SLD on your Portal J2EE instance via http://localhost:port/sld and login as Administrator or J2EE_ADMIN and run the auto import.
4 - Define your ECC server in the SLD as a new WAS ABAP instance and define all the settings via the wizard.
5 - Use the WebDynpro explorer to configure the Jco destinations to use the new WAS ABAP instance in your SLD
6 - Import the ESS business package into the Portal.
7 - Define the system definitions as per the MSS documentation for alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS and others
8 - Assign Employee role from PCD to your Portal user and assign the relevant profile to your backend user in ECC
9 - Use transaction pa30 to add a communications infotype entry to map your username to an employee in the hierarchy.

Help on Configuring MSS

Hello ESS/MSS Experts,
I am trying to configure MSS in Portal. The backend configuration for Compensation Management has been performed under the node Personnel Management -> Enterprise Compensation Management by the functional consultant. Even after this is done, I am getting an error in the Portal iViews MSS->Planning Page. Can any of you provide me a config document which will guide me to configure MSS from the scratch in the Portal side? I am not aware of any of the settings which needs to be configured for MSS. I am new to MSS config as well.
Any documentation or any help ASAP in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am not able to open this doc as its giving Page cannot be found error.
This is the error message I am getting in the Planning -> Service Request iView. com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: ComponentUsage(FPMConfigurationUsage): Active component must exist when getting interface controller. (Hint: Have you forgotten to create it with createComponent()? Should the lifecycle control of the component usage be "createOnDemand"?
For almost all of the other iViews am getting Portal Runtime Error.
I haven't done any configuration w.r.t MSS side from Portal and it will be of great help if you can provide a documentation which explains the step by step approach in configuring MSS from Portal.

COnfiguring MSS Iviews ECC 5.0 and BP 60.1.2

HI All,
I am trying to configure reports on portal with ECC 5.0, BP for manager 60.1.2 and portal 7.0.
I am having trouble in locating the right Iview which I cna modify properties to pull the ABAP reports for SAP query.
Can any one tell me which Iview I need to configure. I know for ECC 6.0 it would be laund pad Iview.
The role in ecc 5.0 is com.sap.pct.mss.roles > MANAGER
DId any one work on this enviroment before does ECC 5.0 support Manager reports? if it does can you please give me which Iview I can set the application properties.
Right now, on my staff>reporting > selection criteria> Here, I see no data found. I am sure here for this iview some properties need to be set so data can be visible from sap query. Just want to know exactly what property to change.

search for iview with ID.
com.sap.pct.hcm.rpt_reportselection
open it to edit properties.. open object... select parameter Scenario and enter Scenario name MDT or whatever is applicable.

Configuring MSS reporting

Scenario 1:
Step1
iView is using standard mss.rpt webdynpro component.
It is currently pointing to RPT0 scenario and "MSS_RPT_SELECT" as viewgroup.
Select 'Birthdays' report which in turn using SAP standard report
"AQZZ/SAPQUERY/H2BIRTHDAYLIST=="
Step 2
Select the organization unit which has blank positions in it.
Step 3
Click on Report Result, it is showing the following information popup as part of step 3 .
(here there are no issues)
Scenario 2 (here there is an issue, actually it differs from Scenario 1)
We have taken the AQZZ/SAPQUERY/H2BIRTHDAYLIST== report and renamed as ZPPAR_BIRTHDAY_LIST and the report is assigned to same application scenario:RPT0.
*Steps 1 and 2 *
Same as in scenario 1
Step 3
In this scenario, it throws "Selection screen" instead of "information popup" that was thrown in scenario#1.

So i believe you would like to keep this, correct me if I am wrong.
Headcount - BW Reports

There are two options available:
Under My Staff Tab, you just want to use the report selection. Am I right ? If that's the case, I would suggest you to create your own iview for the report selection application. You may skip the first screen which gives the other options like headcount, illness & overtime and skills, rather take the user directly to your iview of report selection. Would that be ok for you ?
The second option is to download the par file com.sap.pct.hcm.rpt_reportselection, change ReportSelection.jsp in the component default. This was for My Staff. Similarly for My Budget, you can check in the Portal Content, get the name of the par file and then download and modify it accordingly.

Report launchpad is not working under MSS

Hi,
We are configuring MSS and now the report launchpad is showing errors like Role: MSS instance: REP NOT_FOUND.
I know we need to configure the MDT scenario and then change the iView property. But I could not find the documentation on which property in the launchpad iView to change and how to change it to mactch the scenario we defined in MDT.
Can anyone help?

Even i had the same probelm.. which i reported to SAP.. they replied me with folowing message :-

Kindly check whether corrections of Note 940552 are implemented in your
system.
Some of the customers reported the same issue. In their case they
got no reports if they run program #PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA# with type
#RPT0# because the Report Launchpad was not initialized.
You could also solve the problem if you start the customizing of the
report launchpad. ( Transaction FPB_LP_MSS_REP_CUST )
If you do that the first time you will get a popup
that ask you whether you want a tree at the left side or not.
For the Manager Self Service you could say no and then you must save
the launchpad.
Now the launchpad is initialized and you could run the report for
inserting the MDT reports.
If you want also add the financials report please implement at first
the correction at note 954301.
After that you could also insert the Financials reports.
I asume certain table contents are not delivered, because they form partof Launchpad customization.
Please implement any of the two solutions;
1) (Preferred sol.) Start the customization of the Launchpad (
Transaction FPB_LP_MSS_REP_CUST ). Check that table FPB_LP6_SNI is no
longer empty, and has the required entry. Then run the transaction to
convert.
2) Manually add the line to table FPB_LP6_SNI. The values are role =
'MSS', instance = 'REP', and sni_used = ' ' (blank). Then run the
transaction to convert.

MSS 60.1,What are backend roles required for Manager in Backend

Dear all,
I am configuring MSS 60.1.0 with R/3 4.70 and Portal 7.0. Portal user is connected to a PERNR in backend, this PERNR is a chief for a particular org unit. Can some body please suggest me what R/3 roles* I need to assign to PERNR in backend so that this PERNR has authorizations to execute iviews in MSS?
For example Manager Generic needs to be assigned to PERNR?

you will have to create manager as portal role and assigned to them necessary worksets containing necessary worksets look into the PCD in migrated content and line *?? folder you will have necessary ESS and Mss packages. and all configs is related to iviews system properties and transactions and applications you need to do it .please do not forget to give points

Hi,
This can be caused by several problems:
- is the WP-PI installed on the R3 side?
- make sure that all your system properties are configured corerctly
- if you are using User Mapping - make sure the mapping is correct (try using upper case letters, maybe)
- there is a nice tool for testing connection to back-end system. go to the PortalAnywhere.Go page and search for 'Connector Test' - with this tool you will be able to eliminate connection problems.

Employee Information iViews dont display in MSS

Hi All,
I installed and configured MSS Business packages. All the MSS is views seems to work fine but for the Employee Information iViews.
We have ERP2005, EP7.0 of NW2004s SP9.
After logging into the Portal as an MSS user I go to Team and when I click either General Information or Compensation Information or Personnel Development under Employee Information I get the pop windiw with all iview but no display.
However when I click the show in new window option under Show details option on the top right hand corner of the iView page I do get to see the information on the pop window...
what could be the problem here??

MSS-Create Requisition Request -Error in Adobe Form

Hi all,
We are trying to configure MSS -> create requisition request using standard adobe form ISR_MSSRCF_SRQ3.
We have configured standard HCM process HR_MSSRCF_REQUISITION for it. When entering all
the mandatory fields in the form and clicking on 'check and send' , it displays an error
"you must enter a requisition title'
although we have already entered req. title in the field.
Anyone faced this issue before?
Please provide your inputs...

Problem in MSS (My Staff- Personal change request )

Hi,
i am configuring MSS in EP6.0, backend is MySAPERP 2004,ECC5.0.
On going to My Staff-->Personal Change Request -->New Request-> i select the employee and get lots of options like request for promotion, Internal Transfer, separation etc. However on clicking on any of these, i get a critical error saying "Error in try-catch block - Template could not be retrieved."
Can anyone who has implemented MSS, help me out with this..

Try to login with some another manager test id's. some time the test id's get locked at backend. that time such a type of error displays.
first clear your cache and then try out.
