Configuring ports not working after installation of HP 6000.

I had written last night about problems getting my HP 6000 Wireless E609n printer to work on my home network. There are three computers hard wired into a medialink router, with the printer attached to one that is running Windows 7.  One of the other two computers runs Windows 7, the other XP. The three computers can see each other on the network.  I downloaded the software for the XP and installed it, and the installation went okay, but the printer still will not print.  It seems as if the problem is with the router or the settings on the printer.  The printer works on the main machine, the one it is attached to.  I printed the Printer Status Report, and under connectivity settings, the network status is offline with no active connection type.  Its URL is 0.0.0.0.  I was attempting to try and enter an IP address on the XP machine so that it could see the printer.  So on the main machine, I tried to configure the ports to get the IP address.  I got this error message 'An error occurred during port configuration.  This operation is not supported.'  I had this problem earlier too, so I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it, but the problem remains.  I cannot obtain an IP address.  Are there settings for the printer or the router that need to be changed, or is it something else?  Any information would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have the printer connected a Windows 7 computer with a USB cable and are sharing this over the network.  With this type of setup, you would not use an IP address since it would not have one.  The printer would only have an IP address if it is connected to the router (ethernet or wirelessly).
Based on the description of the setup, there really shouldn't be a need to have it connected directly to a Windows 7 system.  If you prefer to have it connected to a Windows 7 system directly and to share it with the other computers, this document from Microsoft discusses how to share it and this document from Microsoft covers adding a network shared printer in Windows XP.
Honestly, I recommend using the printer connected to the router for the simplest and most problem free setup.
HP's site does show the Officejet 6000 e609n supports wireless and wired network connections.  The easiest option would be to connect the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable (wireless can be problematic in some setups).
This document from HP covers how to install this printer on a wired network for Windows 7.

I have installed an app : Birdfield guide in my iPhone 4. But the app is not working after installation. It shows black screen when opened. I need suggestions to make it work or the reasons for not working.

Yes TeeKnows, try deleting it and download it again. After finished installation if still shows black screen delete it out off 'running apps' by double tapping the home button and swipe it off. If still shows black screen then try fully turning off your iPad (holding the sleep button) and turn back on again.
    I hope I helped
    thanks

  • HDMI Port not working after Windows 10 Upgrade

My HDMI port quit working after upgrading to Windows 10. The VGA port works fine. I have triend many of the fixes for listed for this issue for upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8/8.1. Here's whay I've done so far... 1) Downloaded the most recent drivers for my Intel(R) Graphics Card. Outcome: It said the drivers installed were newer than the driver I was installing. Tried anyway, didn't work. 2) Uninstalled the driver and let windows update it.Outcome: Black screen, then it restarted and installed the same driver it had before. 3) Tried installing the Windows 7 Driver for my Intel(R) Graphics Card. Outcome: Black screen, then it restarted and installed the same driver it had before. 4) At this point I tried the last resort. I spun around three times in a circle and spit in the corner.Outcome: Wife yelled at me and kids thought I had a demon.  Please help, I use this computer in the office to connect to a 65" TV and I NEED my HDMI port.

Yeah, lot's of people on this forum have stated they have the same issue. It's not just people with Intel/AMD switchable cards either. I have an AMD 8650G + 8670M dual grapgics card and I am having the same issue.

  • OBS not working after Installation

    Hi All,
I am having a had time to make OSB 10.3.0.3 x64 working on my Dell 1850 x64 machine with Windcows Server 2008 x64 on it.
    OK, I've done is:
I do have a SCSI card attached to this server and a tape drive. All system is up to date with all latest drivers and firmware. I did install HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools to test my tape drive connectivity and performace and it is all good. After that I did install OSB , the installtion went just fine and it let me pick my tape drive. ...... and here I have issues....
    1. After I finished my installation I went to windows services mmc to see if OSB service is running...and it wasn't, so I started it.
    2. I went to CMD and typed "obtool" and got an error message:
obtool: Error: this host's identity to Oracle Secure Backup has not yet been established.
    3. I tryed to run a Web Administration Tool and got an error page.
    4. Restarted the server.
    5. Apache log folder in OSB Home is empty, there is nothing there. Another thing I found that my "OSB HOME \admin\config" folder has only "dataset" folder in it when it should have folders inside. It looks like it is not configuring Apache and OSB domain for me after installation.
    6. Went to CMD and run: "obtool --initnewdomain" and it let me to crete it. Even let me to get onto obtool after that but Web Admin Tool is still not working.
    7. I run my HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools again to see if SCSI card and drive connectivity is fine.... and it cannot detect my drive anymore.
So, I did a lot of rebooting and reinstalling and it still doesn't work. There is nothing running on the same TCP port on my system and as long as OSB is installed I can not get into my tape drive using HP Tape drive tools, not even detect it.
I did a bit more testing, instead of installing x64 OSB version I did try to install x86 (32 bit) on my x64 machine. The result is that Web Admin tool is still down (I am sure it is because Apache x86 on x64 machine) which is OK, and obtool is running fine, I can start it....... so, what would be your suggestion ?
P.S. I do have a development server, which is absolutely the same including SCSI card, the only difference is that it has Windows 2003 x86 installed and has DB 11g running on it. I did connect my tape drive to thys system, installed OSB for testing and Web Admin Tool, obtool was just fine. I even was simply able to test tape backup from EMC using OSB.
    Thanks

    I did that....and many times.
I, figured it out!!!! When I did try to manually run "obhttpd.exe" it gave me an error that "msvcr71.dll " is missing. I've found that MS .Net Framework and MS Visual C++ 2005 contains it. So, before installing any updates on my machine, I did install all MS .Net Framework versions from 1.1 to 4.0 including all updates and Microsoft Visual C++ from 2005 to 2010. In addition, I did copy this DLL file into my System32 folder. Did install OSB and it still didn't work but "obhttpd.exe" was starting without error messages. The only thing I didn't try yet was to rename a server. So my server name was "san-manage3" and I renamed it to "san-bk3", rebooted, installed OSB and it worked. So, I don't know if it is because of long DNS name or all together, but it is fine now.

I have the same problem when I updated to OS X 10.10 I lost both my USB ports as far as they will not recognize anything that I plug into them.  The power part of the USB seams to work since it will recharge my Striiv Touch but nothing shows up when you connect anything to the ports.
I have tried a number of things from rebooting, trying other usb devices that work on other systems with no problems but will not work on my Macbook Pro.
    Any Help out there?

  • USB warning and ports not working after update to Snow Leopard from Tiger

I've gone for hours through all kinds of forums without finding a proper answer, so here I am.
This morning I've installed OS Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on my iMac, previously I had OS Tiger 10.4.11 running. Everything seemed fine until I restarted and then I started getting "USB drawing too much power" promps all over the place even though the only thing that's attached to the iMac is the keyboard and the mouse (they both work fine). The process went like this:
The iMac is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo from october 2007
First I did an upgrade of my RAM, from 1GB to 2GB, that went ok.
Then I runned the install dvd for Snow Leopard, I did not perform a clean install, just did it over my old data. After restart, everything worked but i got this USB warning message, one of them. At that point my usb's still worked, (even though the warning) I could print and scan. To get rid of the warning, i resetted the PRAM and SMC, as suggested everywhere. After doing so, the promps multiplied and my usb ports ceased working, except for the keyboard and the mouse attached to it.
I've done the Apple Hardware Test, and it gives no malfunctions.
Firewire works fine, Isight buildt-in camera and bluetooth too.
I've tried all usb's and the keyboard will work in all of them, not like my printer and scanner which are completely ignored.
USB power warning also appears at restart with no deviced connected (no keyboard and mouse, i've tried).
I've also found in many forum entries  the possibility of a problem on the logic board, but since i've never had a problem with my imac until today i would not be sure about a hardware malfunction.
The last thing i've found around that could be a clue is something about the kernel extensions, but that's complete chinese for me, I'm  a mac plug&play user and not too much of a mac expert.
Does anybody have an idea about what could be going on? Should I perform a clean install of snow leopard? Would that solve the problem?
Many thanks in advance to the community for the help, I'm quite lost since I've owned macs for the last 15 years and this is the first problem I have with one.

I think it's serious, but if it didn't do it booted from Install Disc then Software is highly suspect.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
Did we get the warning in Safe Mode?

  • Snow Leopard not working after installation

After successful installation of Snow Leopard on a new internal hard drive (connected through IDE to SATA adapter) in my Macbook (late 2006), it is not working. No icon is clickable, only cursor can move. Please help!

The OSX 10.6.3 was successfully installed from the DVD. This is the screen after booting. But it is frozen. There is no response to clicking any of the icon in the deck or in the menu bar. I can only move cursor. That's all.

  • USB ports not working after OSX 10.9.1 update

    I have a late 2011 MBA 13".
The 2 USB ports stopped working as soon as I updated to 10.9.1.
I tried zapping PRAM and resetting the SMC.
I even turned the thing off for hours and still nothing.
    Any idea how to fix?
Everything was fine until I did the update.
    Thanks.

This is not a known bug affecting 2011 MBA computers with 10.9.1 so there is something wrong with your installation. Since zapping PRAM and resetting the SMC did not work I suggest that you try one of two things but first make sure you have backed up your computer.
    1) download Mavericks and reinstall it. Sometimes an update goes awry and a reinstall fixes it. Since doing this won't disturb any of your data or applications it would be my first choice. You'll be downloading 10.9.1 so you won't have to perform any updates.
    2) boot into the recovery mode, erase the hard drive and then download and install Mavericks. Once Mavericks is finished installing you'll be asked if you'd like to migrate data and applications from a backup. Say yes and if your backup drive isn't already connect it, do so. Select your applications folder and account folders from the list and let the Setup Manager do its magic.
BTW - this is why one of my several backup hard drives is a cloned backup using Carbon Copy Cloner (SuperDuper! Is another good choice). I can boot up my computer using this backup and download the newest version of Mavericks on it if I haven't already done so. I always quit the installer first and make a copy of it because the installer program deletes itself once it is finished which is something of a pain. It gives me more options including being able to boot my computer with it, erase the computer and copy the installer to the computer rather than having to perform the download all over again if step 1 fails. Since I always download a new copy of the OS when Apple releases an update this computer will have the newest version of the installer so I also can skip the download step of option 1 and just copy it over and install on the computer.

  • Internet does not work after Installation of Oracle10g on SuSE 10 Enterpris

    Hi,
I installed SUSE 10 then configured the network services using network manager as it did not work by just putting the DNS servers and router address. The internet was working fine till I installed Oracle 10g. It somehow modified my DNS address from 203.97.33.1 to 203.97.33.14. The web interface for Oracle works fine.
If I run the Network manager again, my internet starts working but the Oracle web interface does not work.
I do not understand what's happening. Please help.
    Thanks.

I have never liked using Network Manager with Oracle. If you use traditional ifup, you can use SCPM and have different profiles. The first 2 things I do during an install of Suse Linux that will have Oracle 10g is disable Network Manager and disable IPv6. Go to /etc/hosts and remove all entries that have the IPv6 addresses. The 10g OC4J applications from database and application servers have problems with IPv6 addressing. Make note of your current DNS addresses and your route before reconfiguring to ifup. Use route -n to get the router address if you do not already know it. It is the gateway with values. It is also a good idea to configure your wired ethernet device to start on boot up, then you can ping your hostname whether or not your cable becomes disconnected, i.e. still access dbconsole with the router down.

  • In-built mic not working after installation of windows 7 on my hp nc8430

So I installed windows 7 on my laptop which originally was running windows xp (hp compaq nc8430) and it turns out that the inbuilt mic is not working and it won't even recognise the SD card that i insert in the card slot. Everything was working perfectly before the installation. I checked the audio devices in control panel and it says the microphone is not plugged in. Also the screen resolution is weird, it won't go above 1024x768, everything is too big for my liking.
Could someone help me out please? Thanks in advance.

  • W520, (2) USB 2.0 ports not working after updates

I find it rather odd that my 2x USB 2.0 ports go out after updating Lenovo, but the 2x USB 3.0 ports still work, and Bluetooth still works.  I did install the newer BIOS and the USB 3.0 update, before hand the ports were working fine.
right now I'm using the SATA/USB combo port, but I don't want to wear out the plug. My computer Lenovo solution center says there is a hardware device problem, but I can't find it doesn't appear to be any of the drivers, or the power manager.

my logic is like this, this motherboard is tested by Operating system that listed at download driver, you can check here
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/970AG46.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8 64
there is an update 1.16.12 for USB ASMedia USB 3.0 Driver but for Windows 8
In order to worked with Windows 8.1, you need the updated driver, because this motherboard comes before Windows 8.1 launched
try to apply this registry trick, please don't applied hotfix since only applicable with Windows 8 and Server 2012

  • Lsnrctl and sqlplus do not work after installation

I install Oracle 10g on my Linux, but it does not work. For example when run lsnrctl or sqlplus, nothing happens. Any idea?

    Hi,
Create a bash profile .bash_profile in your home path as follows:
    # .bash_profile
    # Get the aliases and functions
    if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
    . ~/.bashrc
    fi
    # User specific environment and startup programs
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
    export PATH
    export ORACLE_BASE=/u01/oracle10g
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/dbhome_1
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    export ORACLE_SID=TESTDB
Save this setting and run this file first time
    $. .bash_profile
Once you run this I hope sqlplus should work provided you supply correct path and directories names to this file.
Use netca to recreate your listener and start it.
    $lsnrctl start
    $lsnrctl status
    Hope it will help.
    Best regards,
    Rafi.

  • Serial async dialbackup ports not working after shut, no shut??

I have four serial interfaces with async modems configured for dial-back to remote sites. While testing the dial-backup to the remote sites I noticed that host router was always using the same serial port to dial each remote site. In order force the dial backup mechanism to use another of the four host modems, I did a "shut" on the serial interface with the modem. Although this did force the dialer to use another modem in the pool, after doing a no shut on the modem serial interfaces I found that it was unusable for dial-back after that, that is, the dialer could not dial-out on the modem. I had the customer power cycle the modems on the serial interfaces but they still shows as down. Below is a sample excerpts of my config:
    interface Serial2/0
    description *** Dial Back-Up #1Phone***
    no ip address
    encapsulation ppp
    no ip route-cache
    no ip mroute-cache
    dialer in-band
    dialer pool-member 1
    dialer pool-member 2
    dialer pool-member 3
    dialer pool-member 4
    dialer pool-member 5
    dialer pool-member 6
    dialer pool-member 8
    dialer pool-member 9
    fair-queue
    pulse-time 1
    no cdp enable
    interface Dialer1
    description *** Dial Back-Up to Bridgton ***
    ip address 172.21.1.2 255.255.255.248
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    dialer rotor best
    dialer idle-timeout 300
    dialer wait-for-carrier-time 60
    dialer string 99473624
    dialer-group 1
    no cdp enable
    ppp authentication chap
Anyone ever see this. How can I re-initialize the serial ports with the modems again. No shut does not seem to work??
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hello Tony,
not sure if this helps, but try the interface command 'ignore-dcd' on your serial interface(s); the modem might be sending a DSR (data set ready), while the interface would listen for DCD (Data Carrier Detect) as up/down indicator.
