Configuring Project Analytics / Peoplesoft

Hi, we're trying to configure Project Analytics (7.9.6.1) running against Peoplesoft. I have some questions about how to configure the Informatica lookup files mentioned in the sections on "Configure Project Budget" and "Configure Project Cost" (sections 15.2.3.10 and 15.2.3.11 of the configuration guide). Has anyone been there / done that?
I'm not familiar with BI Apps - I have a long history with OBIEE, but not BI Apps. I'm struggling to translate what needs to be configured into something I can get the business users to help with. Any ideas?

Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

Has anyone implemented a security scenario for Project Managers, such that they can only see the information associated to their projects when using EBS as the source? If so,
- How did you identify the relationship between project managers and their projects? Did you use an initialization block and pull this information in from EBS?
- Where did you define the security/filtering configuration so that they were limited on what they could see?
- Did you create a custom responsibility for 'Project Managers' and have them access a set of Project Manager dashboard/reports that followed the Project Manager security model?

Thanks for the great info and reply. This makes complete sense to me, but I just want to make sure I am clear on a couple points:

You mean use an init block to pull the users employee id and store it in a session variable correct? The session variable will then be used later as part of the filter criteria.

To implement the step above, would you follow theses steps:
1. Go to Manage->Security
2. Under Groups, select the group planned to be utilized for this filter (in this case I double clicked the Project Manager group).
3. I then Click permissions button for this group
4. Go to the Filters tab of the window that pops up
5. Add a filter, go to BMM tab and select the Project dimension and then define a filter for Proj Mgr Id = nqsession.employeeid
+3. Ideally you should be able to use the OOTB project manager group for this security.+
This is a good point, but a few more questions here - There are a number of Project related groups (see below) in the out of box Oracle BI Apps RPD and all of them essentially roll up to the super group 'Operating Unit Org-based Security'. Is there a best practice or preferred approach for utilizing these groups as they related to Oracle EBS v12? Is there any good documentation out there to see what the intended use and setup is for these groups? Do all of these groups relate back to an EBS Responsibility? I have read through the OBIA Security Configuration document and basically all it says is to enable the operating unit org initilization block and thats all .. not really all that helpful.

Enable Project Analytics Integration with Financial Subject Areas

Guys, i know there are a few of us out there that are or have done PA implementation with Oracle Finance.
I went through the docs and found how to steps for "You can enable Oracle Financial Analytics for EBS to use dimension tables in Oracle Project Analytics."

However, i did not see this option for the "Financials - General Ledger" subject area. I end up manually adding the option "Enable Project Dimensions" by click on the <add / remove> option for the Configuration Tags tab under the "Financials - General Ledger" subject area.
Can someone confirm that they faced the same "issue"? What action did they take? I have in the past run the loads without making this selection for all the Oracle Finance and it seemed to still bring the link between the Oracle Finance and PA.

General ledger facts have no link to project dimensions, i.e there is no analysis of GL data from project dimensions. Thats why you dont see it in the GL subject area. If you added it yourself and turned it on, it probably has no effect.

Project Analytics application

Hi All,
Am trying to implement/configure the 'Oracle Business Intelligence Applications' and specifically interested in 'Project Analytics' package. Can anyone please tell me whether I need to be using Data-Warehousing techniques, as the release notes only specifies 'Configuration Guide for Informatica users' ?
Can anyone please pass on a good reference for me to proceed.

Hi Karthic, the document you specifies is the correct guide for the configuration for OBIA. Follow the steps enumerated in the charpter 3 "Configuring Common Areas and Dimensions" and Charpter 15 "Configuring Oracle Project Analytics". Then, you need to create a execution plan that contains the proper subject area to extract projects information and run it.

Financial/Project Analytics Load - Some of the Tasks TRUNCATE Table Fails

Oracle Business Applications 7.9.6.1 - Financial and Project Analytics
DAC Load for Project Analytics fails with most of the tasks failing at Truncate Table Tasks.
I am implementing OBIA Financial Analytics and Project Analytics, I am able to configure and run the Out of the Box Loads without any isssues for Financial Analytics. After making sure everything is fine with Fin Analytics i configured the Project Analytics and ran the Load only for the Project - ORA12.
Financial analytics : Load went through fine without any issues.
Project Analytics : Majority of the Tasks fail with 'TRUNCATE TABLE table_name' itself.
No log of Informatica Session Files are Created
No Log of Workflow logs but taskname.log.bin files are Created.
I am assuming the loads are failing because it is unable to truncate the data loaded by Financial Analytics Load and due to Foreign Key constraints,
I did the integration as per the document by unchecking in the Configuration Tags.
Do i need to run the load together, As i am unable to figure out what is happening due to the absense of the log files i.e Session, Workflow.
DAC logs are not providing much info.
Any inputs are appreciated.

OSB - configuration project deploy error

Hi!
I got an error message when i wanted to deploy a configuration project to OSB:
Permission denied
Failed to create temporary jar file
The OSB works in Linux. I had got problems with permissions of OSB file folder in Linux. I solved these (the oracle user is the owner of this folder and it has got rights (read+write) on this folder; i start the OSB with this oracle user). So maybe I should add some rights to oracle folder or maybe to other folder?

Cannot publish OSB Configuration project on windows 7 64 bit OSB 11g1

I get the following error when I try to publish a OSB configuration project:
Project Facet Oracle Service Bus Configuration 1.0.100 is not supported by this server.
I installed OSB 11gr1 the following way:
1. downloaded + installed 64 bit windows Java JDK (1.6.0_20)
2. downloaded and installed the generic installer weblogic + coherence ( without OEPE unfortunately) [filename=wls1033_generic.jar].
3. Seperately downloaded 64 bit OEPE from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oepe/index.html. Unzipped it in a manually created directory oepe in the weblogic installation directory (C:\bea\oepe) [filename=oepe-galileo-all-in-one-11.1.1.5.0.201003170852-win32-x86_64.zip]
4. Install the OSB by running the setup.exe from the osb installer (Disk1). During the install I selected the OEPE directory (C:\bea\oepe in my case).

5. I Started eclipse.exe. The OSB plugins were put in the installment automatically during startup (dropins).
I created a test domain and within eclipse I created a server (Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 PatchSet 2=10.3.3) so I could deploy projects onto this server. All went well. After this I created an OSB configuration project and an OSB project. When I tried to add this to the server I got the error as I mentioned above. This surprises me. The eclipse OSB plugins that were installed cannot create an OSB Configuration Project for the 10.3.3 version. So I cannot use eclipse to build project for the latest version. What is happening here?!?

Although windows 7 is not officially supported I got something working. No garantees it will break at some point you can have a working 64 bit OSB on windows 7.
To get oepe also working you have to install the 32 bit version from the 32 bit weblogic installer. When you have supplemented this version with the OSB plugins you can publish projects on Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 PatchSet 2.
So try at your own risk or wait for an official version for windows 7

How to define the OSB Configuration Project that an OSB Project uses?

I'm using the Workshop bundled with "Oracle Service Bus 10gR1" (Oracle Workshop for WebLogic, Version: 10.3, Build id: 1137967).
Where does one define the OSB Configuration Project that an OSB Project should use?
I deleted an OSB Configuration Project. Now, all the OSB projects that were associated with it are in error stating "This project is not associated with an Oracle Service Bus Configuration". I created a new OSB configuration project so that I may re-associate the "orphan" projects with it. However, I can't seem to find a way to do that.

You can create a new osb configuration project and drag the other osb projects on this projects.
then i will link them to it. (make sure you use the oracle service bus perspective at the top right of the eclipse ide)

Cannot Create a new ALSB Configuration Project in Work-Space Studio!?!

I am using BEA WorkSpace Studio version 1.1 which gets automatically installed with ALSB 3.0
To get started with the ALSB project development, I try creating a new ALSB Configuration Project
But I am getting a pop-up that says-

I think I have Solved it at-last...(after facing the same problem on my Windows VISTA powered laptop too, suspecting so many things) !!
The culprit or problem{color:#008080} +( i still dont know WHY it happens, perhaps due to some hard-coding internally..?)+{color} disappeared when i --
<ul><li>Re-installed, the whole thing, with ONE important thing in mind...</li>
<li>{color:#ff0000}NOT changing ANY of the default values..!! :){color}</li>
</ul>
{color:#ff0000}{color}I used to change them earlier from say: c:\bea\alsb_3.0 to just c:\bea\alsb *{ *+I think the tool was *"expecting" *ONLY those names internally..?!+ *+}+*
Anyway, I hope this info. helps someone else who might get trapped into this mysterious & stubborn error, that is SO hard to debug.. *:)*

Needed Help In configuring HR Analytics

Hi all
we are configuring HR Analytics for oracle E-Biz11.5.10.
and to Configure the Key Flexfields for the Job Dimension,
(please refer Install Config guide section 11.2.2.19)
we need to specify 2 parameter for the task SDE_ORA_JobDimension task in the DAC
$$JOBCODE_FLXFLD_SEGMENT_COL its value = Segment3 we can find it in Flexfield Title --"Job FlexField" in apps front end .
but the second parameter
$$JOBFAMILYCODE_FLXFLD_SEGMENT_COL values = JOB_INFORMATION4, please let me know the segment value, if any one configured, or let it be as it is

Mapping the DAC parameter $$JOBFAMILYCODE_FLXFLD_SEGMENT_COL is optional. Not all customers will have a Job Family concept on their E-business Suite HRMS Job Flexfield definition.

Java / XSLT configuration project

Just wondering if anyone know�s if there are any Java / XSLT configuration project out there at the moment, open source or not.
I�m going to be developing a drag and drop interface to develop html page using java, xslt and xml. Instead of hand writing the xslt each time, I hoping to develop something where I�II have a couple of different templates that will be populated using Java and XML

I wrote a web application that uses XSLT to generate its HTML output once. And I did have the word "template" in mind. So basically each page is an XSLT document and the Java code feeds it XML (in the form of SAX events).
But it's not "out there" in the sense that you can grab its code off the Internet.
