Configuring Receive Connectors for External Notifications while still displaying Site Name

This is closely related to the issue we 'resolved' in
this blog
Our SharePoint notifications would not display the Site Name in the Display Name.   i.e.  If an Expense Request was approved, we wanted the display name of the email to come from "Accounting"
To resolve, we went to the receive connector and made sure only "Anonymous Users" was checked under Permission groups.  The workflows and notifications immediately started displaying the site they originated in the Display Name, but...
All notification emails going to external users (outside our primary domain) ceased.    We has to check 'Exchange Servers' under permission groups and then we lost the display name but gained email to external users.
Does anyone know how to get both working at the same time?
Thanks!!

  • Receive Connectors for Internal Relays - Before & After 2007-2013 Co-existence

I have just completed the process of migrating from Exchange 2007 Standard SP3 RP10 to Exchange 2013 Standard. I now have Exchange 2013 Standard CU3 installed on two Server 2012 Standard systems. The two new exchange servers are members of a DAG.
With Exchange 2007, I had to include the IP addresses of multi-function devices (MFDs) with scan to e-mail capability in a receive connector in order for the scan to e-mail to work.
Five of the MFDs were on the same subnet as our Exchange 2007 servers, and one MFD was not.
It is on the same subnet as our Exchange 2013 servers.
I created new Receive connectors on our Exchange 2013 servers for this purpose.
The one MFD on the same subnet as the Exchange 2013 servers was mistakenly excluded from a receive connector.
Much to my surprise, it is able to relay mail.
I removed the IP address of one of the other MFDs to see if the fact that it is on a different subnet than the Exchange 2013 servers made a difference.
I replicated our domain controllers to help ensure that a lack of AD replication would not be an issue with this test.
The excluded MFD is still able to relay items.
I have an application on a server.  The application relays messages, but the IP address of the server it is on is not included in any receive connectors.
By searching through  the SMTPreceive log, I found the IP address of the MFDs I did my scan to e-mail tests from in the log.
I also found the IP address and relayed messages from the application server.
The log indicates that the Default Frontend connector is handling this traffic.
Does Exchange 2013, by default, relay messages from all internal IP addresses?
Does this mean that I don’t need receive connectors for any internal devices (MFDs, servers, etc.).
Our Exchange 2007 servers have been decommissioned.  Would I have needed connectors while we were still in a co-existence situation?
Am I likely to need them when we have our next co-existence situation in a few years?

Hi Cara. Thank you for the response.
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the MFDs are able to relay because the Default Frontend connector allows them to.
That makes sense for the one MFD that was not included in the customised connector I created.
Thank you for helping me sort that out.
By analysing the Front End Transport logs at the following location on my server, I determined that the included MFDs were using the customised connector I had created.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\FrontEnd\ProtocolLog\SmtpReceive
If I removed the IP address for one of those MFDs, it was still able to relay, but it was doing that through the Default Frontend connector.
That makes sense.  As explained near the end of the following article, Exchange uses the most specific connector.
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2013-configure-smtp-relay-connector/
The one that includes the specific IP address of the MFD will be used, but if the IP address is not specified in any connectors, The Default Frontend connector will automatically be used by
    the device.
I believe that I now understand how the have the relaying from MFDs is taking place, but I am not certain how some applications are completing their relaying.
Another department in my organisation has their own network.
I have a customised receive connector that includes the IP addresses of two application servers on their network.
Applications on these servers relay messages through the Exchange server on my network.
The headers on the relayed messages suggest that the messages are being relayed by the Default Frontend connector.
The logs for that connector, however, do not contain any entries for the two IP address.
The message tracking logs suggest that the Default <servername> connector is relaying for these applications.
If the most specific connector is supposed to handle the relaying, why is that not happening in this case?
Also, two other application servers from this network are not included in any customised connectors I have created.
The logs show that they are relaying mail through the Default Frontend connector.
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that this should not be happening, as applications and external users require a customised connector, rather than a built-in connector.
If I have mis-understood you, please clarify this for me.
    Thanks!!

  • Exchange Server 2010 - Receive Connector for Client Computers

I have one customer with a SBS 2011 with Exchange Server 2010 - a pretty standard setup except for some customisation with Receive Connectors in order to cater for an application which is installed on a number of computers that requires to use an SMTP Server
to send notifications. In order to accomplish this (allow to be sent using Exchange Server) we added the IP Address of client computer (which we also set as a DHCP reservation) to a pre-configured Receive Connector (Anonymous setup for Printer/Scanner).
This worked fine, but we now find that there are other applications that require the same function to use SMTP to send.
How should/could this be better configured so an application can send if they authenticate?

    Hi
For this  you need to create a seperate receive connector to be used for Relay in your organizations.
    Follow the below steps
    1) Create a dedicated Relay Receive Connector
    2) Add only the Ip addresses of the applications which needs to relay on Exchange servers
    3) You can use either anonymous or authenticated relay according to your relay config
You can follow the below link as well

  • Configure send connector for exchange online protection

    Hello Forum members,
I am trying to configure send and receive connectors for Exchange 2010 to route
on-premises mailboxes to Exchange OnLine Protection.  The "help" info MS provides
is for Ex 2013 - and the EAC GUI and config does not lend a close fit to using the 2010
Exch Management Console.  How can I configure connectors to properly connect to the Exchange Online Protection?
I have seen where the ip addresses are posted, etc.  I am unclear how to configure the properties on the SBS 2011/EX 2010 server.
    Any tips will help,
    Thanks,
    Eric H.
    Network and Server Installs

    Hello Wesleyhe,
You cannot use AD anything with EOP - if you mean exchange on-line protection.
you have to set a smart host on the SBS server to connect to EOP, you may need to add the EOP server ips to your network config
on the SBS server.  the smart host line (for the send connector on SBS server) is something like: yourdomainname-com.mail.protection.outlook.com.
Then you need to configure the outside ip for your SBS server access in the EOP admin area.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to send and receive email for external domain

    Hi,
I just installed Exchange Server on my 2K8 domain controller. I have set up the send connector and made necessary changes to the receive connector as well. I have updated the DNS records as well on my domain registrar. I can access OWA from outside my companies

    Hi hg01,
According to your description, I notice that you installed Exchange server on a DC.
It is not recommended to install Exchange server on a DC. I suggest install Exchange server on a member server. More details to see:
Installing Exchange on a domain controller is not recommended
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.setupreadiness.warninginstallexchangerolesondomaincontroller(v=exchg.150).aspx
About your issue, cannot send and receive externally, I suggest make sure the DNS can be resolved first.
Then, check whether Outlook Anywhere has been enabled. If not, please enable it on both Exchange server and Outlook client side.
Last, try to configure both Send Connector and Receive Connector.
More detailed error message will be helpful for the further troubleshooting.
    Thanks

  • Receiving text and email notifications while on call

While I'm on a call, I receive text and email notifications (by a sound and a buzz). Is there a way to shut this off, as it's annoying when there are multiple messages coming through.

Sure; go to settings > sounds and set "new text" and "new VM" to off.
Of course this turns them off ALL the time; your only choice ( I am sure there is a hack for this oversight out there somewhere, though)

  • Configuring SharePoint Connector for LiveCycle

    Hello,
I am having some trouble setting up the SharePoint connect for LiveCycle. When entering the user credentials in the configuration page, I get a 401 Unauthorized error from Share Point server. However, using the same credentials, I am able to log into the Share Point site successfully.
Both systems are sync'd to the same LDAP and I've followed the instructions quite closely from Configuring LiveCycle ES2 Connector for Microsoft SharePoint.
My settings are similarly as follows:
    Server: sp.lkp.com:80
    User: spuser
    Password: *******
    Domain: LKP
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
The instructions for the server say:
SharePoint Server Host Name: The host name port number of the web application on the SharePoint server, in the format [hostname]:[port]. , should my link point to something more specific than just the server url?
    Thanks in advance.

Should Basic Authentication be enabled as well even if I opt to use NTLM or Kerberos authentication?
I will check if it is enabled when I have a chance to check tomorrow.

  • HT4897 iCloud alias still displaying my name

I created two e-mail alias accounts for my me.com account.  However, when I send a test e-mail from them, they still display my actual name...which sort of defeats the whole purpose of having an alias e-mail.  Is there anyway to simply show the e-mail alias and not have any other identifying information show up?  Thanks!

Thanks much for the response, but I have different entry in the "Full Name" selection, but it is still pulling my actual name instead of what I have entered as the full name for the alias.  I am going to try to change the "Full Name" for my main iCloud IMAP and see if that helps.  Thanks again for the response.

  • How to correctly configure send and receive connectors for SBS2011 exchange to connect to EOP

    Hello SBS fans,
we have a customer with SBS2011 and exchange.  The server email is setup for Exchange Online Protection.
It passes the Remote Connectivity Analyzer for inbound and outbound email.  It shows a warning for the spf, saying it cannot find the spf record, BUT MXtool box passes everything associated with their domain name, including the spf record.
They are now getting some bounced email from yahoo servers, referencing this ip
65.55.169.249, which is a valid Microsoft ip.
I checked the bounce back email header carefully, and found a reference to an internal ip, 192.168.11.14, which just happens to be the ip of the user's desk PC!! - NOT the local addr of the sbs2011 server (which should not be there anyway)
I will guess that there is an incorrect setting in one or both of the hub transports?  There is a correct smart host connector.
I am no longer sure about the other connectors!
    Any ideas on this?

  • Upgrading my intel iMac to internal SSD and running 1TB external drive from firewire 800 for mass storage while still using a second external drive for backups...my goal-speed with a SSD, to still have 1TB of room for everything i have now..possible?

I seem to kill HD's every two years...the last two i've installed were WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200rpm 3.5" drives. The speed gains over  stock drives have been remarkable. I don't blame the drives for the failures, my machines are up and running 16 hours a day, every day, year round. They die from 'mileage' so to speak...i assume...there's no viral acvtivity or questionable downloads to gunk things up...just lots of work.
I have my third new drive ready to install in my intel based iMac...but i've had a thought...I want to install a SSD in my iMac for the speed gain (and recent price drops)...for standard storage i want to use this new WD Caviar Black 1TB in an external drive bay and connect via firewire 800 for storing everything except the OS and my most commonly used software...am i crazy? will the firewire 800 external drive negate the speed gained with an internal SSD??
I have four iMacs in my office, and one at home. I buy second hand and install new drives and boost memory. I'm going to do this on my 'home' machine...if it works out well i want to upgrade the other three this way...but first i need to know if i'm just dreaming, or will it really make a difference? or even possible??
    Thanks!
    2.66 intell core2duo
    2009 iMac
    8gig ram
    1 gig hd
    OSX ver. 10.8

The SSD gives great bootup and Application launch speed. I think it also speeds up the video rendering a bit, I do all that on the SSD and then move the finished project to the external drives. As far as the speed for the external drives they are quick enough for viewing video and the file transfer rate is good. I had initially put the SSD into an external cradle (FW800) and the system was faster than on the internal drive. I only got a 1.5GBs SATA drive, perhaps yours could benefit from the 3GBs. I know the 6GBs would be too fast and costs a lot more, even the MacPros need special hookups to make use of the 6GBs.

  • Configure digital filter for external clock

I am trying to use a digital filter on my PXI-6602 card and I can't get it to configure for an external clock. It keeps telling me the numbers don't match up but I don't see the logic to the numbers it supports. Here is the error I got for a time base of 100 Hz and a min pulse width of 1/(100 / 2) based on the period of 2 clock cycles.
Desired Minimum Pulse Width could not be produced.
Minimum Pulse Width is affected by the Digital Filter Timebase Source and the Digital Filter Timebase Rate. To see how these two property settings can affect the Minimum Pulse Width, refer to product documentation for more details.
    Property: CI.CountEdges.DigFltr.TimebaseSrc
    Requested Value: /PXI1Slot2/PFI36
    Property: CI.CountEdges.DigFltr.TimebaseRate
    Requested Value:  100.000000
    Property: CI.CountEdges.DigFltr.MinPulseWidth
    Requested Value:  20.0e-3
    Supported Values:  80.0e-3 to  171.798692e6
    Task Name: _unnamedTask<49>
I know my math is off since the filter uses the leading edge of the pulse but 0.08 seconds is 12.5 Hz and I don't get it. Other frequencies produce different but also odd (to me) numbers.
Attached is a copy of my VI
    Attachments:
External Clock for Filter.jpg ‏131 KB

Digital filtering ensures that a high pulse is high for at least a certain time (minimum pulse width) in microseconds.  This is to ensure that a fluke noise signal does not count as a high pulse.  It also ensures that a voltage overshoot to the high value does not register more than one high pulse as it settles in to the value.
The specifications of the digital filtering is outline on page 3-1 to 3-3 of the 660x User Manual, found here. It specifies on page 3-3 that there are five different settings for the digital filter minimum pulse width:
    5 µs
    1 µs
    500 ns
    100 ns
Or, programmable with a custom tfltrclk (period in seconds of Filter Clock).  However, when using tfltrclk, minimum pulse width needs to equal to 2*tfltrclk.  Your current setup has the minimum pulse width set up for minimum pulse width = 1/(tfltrclck/2) = 2/tfltrclck rather that 2*tflrclk.
I think you already knew all of this.  However, the Filter Clock does not equal the Filter Clock Timebase.
If we look on page 3-3 in the manual we seed that Filter clock is actually 1/4th the speed of the Filter Clock Timebase.
    Therefore, in your setup:
    Filter Timebase Rate = 100Hz
    Filter Clock Rate= 1/4th *100 Hz = 25Hz
    Filter Clock Period = 1/25Hz = 0.04 seconds
2*Filter Clock Period = Minimum Pulse Width = 2*0.04=0.08 seconds.
Which is the minimum value it was suggesting.  This will always be four times as large as what you were guessing before.
