Configuring Security for Weblogic webservice
We have developed a webservice using WLS 7.0 , now comes the next question how
to make it secured from unauthorized access. We tried to get info from "Programming
WebLogic Web Service" documentation (Chapter - Configuring Security) from bea
site, but we couldnt get much info from this. We want to know what are all the
different ways in which we can secure the webservices in weblogic 7.0. It will
be better to get some code samples which implements security.

NarayanYou must make a new directory on the same level with applications directory, place "log4j.properties" file in it, include this directory in the "PRE_CLASSPATH" entry in your startup script and that's all.
Sample line in "startWebLogic.cmd" script
'set PRE_CLASSPATH=%_LIBJARS%;classes'
in classes dir you have "log4j.properties"

OSB: EJB Transport Configuration - Workshop for Weblogic 10.3
Hi
I'm using the latest Workshop for Weblogic 10.3. to test the EJB Transport Typed Service for Oracle Service Bus 10R3.
When I importing the EJB client jar on the EJB Transport tab of the business service configuration, the import itself first seems to work fine.
But when I try to save the business service, I get an error on that page, which says "Error in field content". There is also a message appearing on the top of the wizard, which is only partly readable and says
BUILD FAILED
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/tools/Diagnostic
I'm trying the sample in chapter 8 from the Apress book "The definitive guide to SOA - Oracle Service Bus" and can't see what I have done wrong.
Anyone can help?

ClassNotFoundExceptions on Linux when configuring a client jar for an EJB business service.
On a Linux system, if you do not specify the path to the correct version of Java correctly, you may experience ClassNotFoundException when configuring a client JAR for an EJB business service.
Workaround: The correct Java version is 1.6.0_05.
To check the version of Java you are using, execute java -version from a shell. If you are using some other version, you must update the PATH environment variable to point to the location of a 1.6.0_05 version of Java. Be sure to place this location before the location of the incorrect java. For example:
export PATH=/home/user/bea/jrockit_160_05/bin:$PATH
After making this fix, you may experience error: Generate: Error during generation of the WSDL. If so, you must update the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to same version of Java as above. For example:
export JAVA_HOME=/home/user/bea/jrockit_160_05

Configure toplink for weblogic 10.3
Hello everyone,
I am totally frustrated, please help. I have installed toplink in any path you could imagine, and configure the persistence.install as I saw in google. Could you give me a guide, for silly people, for configuring toplink into weblogic 10.3?
The problems come with the following persistence.xml, it says noclassfoundexception for oracle.toplink.essentials.PersistenceProvider:

Thanks in advance.WebLogic Server 10.3 ships with Apache OpenJPA and Kodo as persistence providers to my understanding. Therefore if you want to use TopLink, etc, you'll have to install the TopLink libraries somewhere in your application. APP-INF/lib, WEB-INF/lib or a shared library, etc. Can you expand on "I have installed toplink in any path you could imagine" and detail which jars you've tried to install and where you've tried to put them?

Implementing security for a webservice

I am working on a services app development project where our app/service is going to serve some consumer application requests in the form of JMS or webservice requests. Please let me know what is the best solution to implement security in this scenario? I am looking for answers pertaining to authentication( validating the user/ client app) and authorization(whether the client can make this request).
Please dont give me the links from java site , unless they are very lucid. Please ... I am looking for straight forward answers in this forum.
( I am a microsoft guy moved into J2EE and honestly, i never felt comfortable with the documentation in Sun site to be simple or easily understandable. [no offense intended to j2ee evangelists :) ] )I would start with SSL for this and build in application authorization via a handshake listener, provided the SSLSocket is exposed. But you're going to have to look at Java documentation for that, there's no point in me giving you my own version of what it says when it's already documented. I have to say that if you think you're going to get a reliable answer that doesn't cite or quote from official Java documentation, you have very strange expectations, and frankly a very strange way of doing your job.

8.3 SP1 tested configuration JDK for WebLogic Server (App Server)
The base 8.3 had JRockit JDK as well as Sun JDK as a tested configuration.
Later 8.3 SP1 only has Sun JDK as a tested configuration.
Can anyone comment on this. If I decide to deploy 8.3 SP1 with the latest hotfix available should I just use the tested Sun JDK for the app server?JRockit JDK is supported with P6 EPPM 8.3 SP1 and any latest hotfix. The tested configuration for SP1 and above is an indication that additional certification of latest JDK has been done. It does not necessarily mean you need to upgrade to it although recommended. Review the SP1 patch readme for more information.

I am stuck in a security exception while configuring security for WCM spaces.
I have configured the security using oracle fusion middleware control and had generated the keystores.
However when I run the application, it is giving me the below exception
<WsmMessageLogger><logSevere> The specified keystore file C:\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain\config\fmwconfig\default-keystore.jks cannot be found; it either does not exist or its path is not included in the application classpath.

The issue here is when I configure the security, it updates the jps-config and other files in location “D:\Oracle\Middleware1\user_projects\domains\base_domain\config\fmwconfig” . So after deploying, it should ideally deploy those files in application data , something like C:\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain\config\...... However, when I try to see the details of the jps-config file in the location, it is still pointing to old keystores and is not getting updated. I even tried deleting the whole “system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain” folder and generating them again after server restarts
If I try to manually overwrite the keystore in application data files, it gives me the below exception.

I have installed OEM 10GR1 on Solaris 9. I am using 9.2.0 database for repository.
My first installation of OEM and agent went smoothly, and everything was working fine.
Then, I tried to follow configurating security for Grid Control Framework. I got following error:

Using WLST to configure security in application deployments ?
Hi,
I would like to configure security (create roles and policies) in an application through WLST.
I did not manage to find what MBeans are available for this, not how to navigate to them.
Is it possible to configure security for an application (that is not in the domain or server realms, but as in the console from the security tab of a specific deployed application) through WLST ?

Configuring security policy via MBeans is not supported, console uses
internal api to achieve that. Said that, I will see if I can do anything.

Nedd to configure apache-bea weblogic plugin for apache2 on solaris 10
Hi,
I have an apache server and a bea weblogic application server. For security reasons, I wold like to configure a bea plugin on the apache server to redirect the client http/https requests from the apache2 server to bea application server.
I have gone through the bea documentation and configure my apache2 httpd.conf as follows

It did not work

Ushas SymonThe Web server plug-ins do not natively support outbound SSL connections
yet(i.e. SSL from the plug-in to WebLogic). This is a feature for version
6.0. You can use SSL from the browser to Apache or from the browser to
WebLogic directly.
The majority of our customers use strict firewall rules to protect the
traffic between Apache and WebLogic. If they are paranoid, they use an SSL
proxy or a VPN product.

Possible to create a JAX-WS, session-bean-based webservice for WebLogic 10?

sorry - but I'm going a bit crazy here. I have been unable to figure out the secret hand-shakes for developing a session-bean-based web service that will run properly under Weblogic 10.0. There are examples out there on how to create webservices that exists within a war file - but none that I can find that reside within a session bean (an ear file).
I can't even figure out how to do with this Bea Workshop for WebLogic Platform 10.0! Is this possible? I can't find any examples anywhere on how to do this. I must be missing something...
Does WebLogic 10.0 support web services within session beans? I've figured out how to do this with JBoss, Sun App Server, and Glassfish - but no luck so far with WebLogic.
If anyone can please point me in the proper direction it would be very appreciated. My company likes WebLogic, but we have to be able to do this in order to continue using it.

How to configure security realm for Active Directory ?
Hi,
Can any body suggest how to configure security realm in weblogic 8.1
I have simple login page where in user can enter his credentials, and i have MS-Active Directory where we maintain all users.
users who loged into web application has to be authenticated from Active Directory.
please suggest what are the steps that we need to follow

You can login to the weblogic server admin console and create a new realm.
Once you have created the realm you can add the authentication provider.You add the Active Authentication Provider.But you must have the the configuration inforamation of MS AD.You can read my blog http://dev2dev.bea.com/blog/bishnu_kumar/
where the integration is with iPlanet LDAP.Steps will be similar.
You must have a login portlet in your portal application and that should have been in accordance with j2ee security standards.For example you may use basic authentication or userlogin control or p13n API

Oracle Identity Server Authenticator as Security Provider for Weblogic 10.3
Hi,
I am getting the following exception on weblogic server 10.1.3 console when accessing users and groups in security realm. This can be reproduced using the following steps.
1. I have installed Oracle Identity Management 10.1.4 (Oracle SSO). I have installed Oracle SSO using the default port options. I tested accessing the Internet directory using orcladmin user and it is working with out any problems.
2. Installed Oracle weblogic Server 10.1.3 and then installed ADF runtime. I verified the installation by accessing the admin server console and did not find any issues.
3. Opened the Admin Console and then accessed the Security Realms and then selected myrealm. Then selected Providers and added Oracle Internet directory Authentication provider.
4. configured the provider specific parameters like the host name and port number (389).
Now when I select user and groups tab I am getting the following exception on weblogic adminserver command prompt console.
Am I missing any steps in configuring Oracle Internet directory authenitcaiton provider for weblogic 10.3.1

1, I install BPM for Weblogic.

I noticed this afternoon that Oracle's refering to Oracle WebLogic 10.3.1 as "Oracle WebLogic 11g".
Know this comes as no surprise to you, but when I tried to install Oracle BPM 10gR3 Enterprise on WebLogic 11g (WebLogic 10.3.1) this afternoon it failed. A friend pointed out to me that Oracle WebLogic 11g does not support the DataDirect JDBC driver. Since Oracle BPM Enterprise 10gR3 uses this driver to connect to both its Engine database and Directory Service databases, he's thinking this might be the cause of our problem.
It would be worth verifying this with Support. Here's what I think they'll point you to. The Oracle BPM 10gR3 release notes(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/relnotes/release_notes_OracleBPM10gR3.htm#N65589) indicate that the only WebLogic application servers supported are Oracle WebLogic 10.3 (10gR3), Oracle WebLogic 10.0 MP1.
Again, talk to Support, but I don't think there's a workaround. The only thing I think you can do is to uninstall WebLogic 10.3.1 and then install WebLogic 10.3 if you want to install Oracle BPM 10gR3 Enterprise on it.
