The configuration of the UWL isn't so much for ESS and/or MSS as it is for just your portal users in general. The configuration of the UWL is actually done in the portal itself under the System Administration role. I suggest starting there and reading all the information. Also, the help.sap.com documentation on the UWL generally will step you through it all. Even in the MSS help documentation, there is a basic section on setting up "bare bones" UWL config. Have a go at that first.

Configuring UWL for MDM

Hi All,
I am working on an EP MDM scenario where i have to configure a UWL for MDM. Can anybody please provide me with the step by step details of how to perform this task??
Is the procedure different for Custom MDM repositories??
Also, do i need to work on Guided Procedures for this??
Please help me out at the earliest as it is very urgent!!!

Hi Becky,
Please follow the below steps:
1. Deploy the SCAs available with the MDM Installables in the Portal Content and JAVA API on the portal.
2. Restart the Portal Server.
3. Create the MDM System with system alias and User mapping and test the connection with the MDM System.Assign the main table name in the Tables with Workflows property of the System.
4. Search for the eu role and assign it to the user
5. Go to the System Administration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Application Console. Select the com.sap.netweaver.bc.UWL from the drop down list and there you will get the option of refresh.Also below that there will be two restart options do all these things.
6. Again select com.sap.MDM.UWL from the drop down list and refresh and restart it.
7. Go to the System Administration -> System Configuration and select the Universal Worklist from the Detailed navigation pane.
8. Create the new Universal Worklist System and assign the System Alias of the system that you have created previously and select the connector type as MDMUWLConnector.
9. Deactivate and Activate again to clear the Cache.
10 . Your Workflow records should be visible in the Work role created after assigning the eu role to the user.

Something like providing radio buttons for approval/rejection for each item in the UWL iVIew?

I am having following error while configuring talent profile for ESS:

What can I do?
If the termination type was RABAX_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination in the system TRG in transaction ST22.
If the termination type was ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination on the application server PPLKHIDR05_TRG_00 in transaction SM21.
If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server PPLKHIDR05_TRG_00 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.
If you do not yet have a user ID, contact your system administrator.
Any suggestions on how to resolve the error?

What is the benefit of configuring the XSS Homepage Framework for ESS?
Over using standard iViews.

It means you can disable (or enable) the exact functionality your customer needs rather than sticking with the default implementation.
Most customes do not use everything available from ESS or MSS. Switching it off (making it unavailable) is WAY better than leaving potentially unconfigured content to be accessed by users. SAP generally do not handle the error cases and you will get lots of nasty stack traces .....

How to configure Webdynpro for ABAP Launch for Travel Request workflow UWL

Hello,
We are on SAP ECC 6 EHP4, SAP Netweaver 7.01 SP5, for portal BP1.41. When we are running travel request in this new Webdynpro for ABAP in UWL it will lead from an attachment to PR05 trx. I would think that it would gve another screen where the manager can check a travel request. Is the standard SAP solution leading to this trx. PR05? We have tried to customize the task 20000189 in SWFVISU but it doesn't give us any results.
I would appreciate if you can give me an advice whether SAP standard solution will lead to PR05 or is there any other options what we haven't discovered yet. Otherwise we have to start customize it.

System configuration for ESS/MSS Implementation

Hi,
I am stuck while configuring the systems for XSS configuration. I have completed following:
1) Installed Portal 7.00 (based on NW2004s) which uses the backend ERP2005 system as a User Master source.
2) Implemented the business packages for ESS 1.0 (SP6), MSS 1.0 (SP6) and SAPPCUI_GP 600 (SP6).
3) Configured the SLD ( we have SLD running on a separate XI system)
4) Configured JCO destinations (tested ok).
5) Configured Systems for Portal and the ERP systems with system aliases.
    For Portal System:   I have only configured the WAS properties (i.e. hostname, path and protocol).and User management (using UDIPW as the logon method)
The system alias is SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
    For ERP System: I have configured connection, user management and W.A.S. properties. The system aliase is SAP_ECC_HumanResources
However, when I perform the connection tests for both systems, they both fail for "Connection Test for connectors" test. It gives the message "Connection failed. Make sure the user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

SAP System ID (SID) : ER1
SAP System Number : 00
Server Port : 3200
System Type - SAP_R3
System aliases for ERP system are:
SAP_ECC_HumanResources and SAP_R3_Financials.
I have not maintained any W.A.S. properties for this system.
For my Portal system: WAS properties are:
Web AS Description : EP_Portal
Web AS Host Name : C1BL3:50100
Web AS Path   : /webdynpro/dispatcher/
Web AS Protocol - http
I had not maintained the connector properties for this system before, but I have now maintained as following:
Application Host : C1BL1 (also included the domain)
Logical System Name   : ER1CLNT210
Remote Host Type - 3
SAP Client   : 210
SAP System ID (SID) : ER1
SAP System Number : 00
Server Port : 3200
System Type - SAP_R3
The system alias for EP is: SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
In the UME configuration --> User mappings, I am using SAP_ECC_HumanResources system as the reference system.

UWL Configuration Document for EP 7.0

Dear all,
We are on EP 7 and trying to configure the UWL. I have a few documentation on the configuration of UWL (not sure whether is works for EP 7). When i try to Registering System Item Types with the UWL, i can see the following option which is different from EP 6.
AdHocSystem - AdHocWorkflowConnector
ActionInbox - ActionInboxConnector
We are using webdynpro and JCO connection. Therefore does it still require the system landscape? Anyone have the UWL configuration document for EP 7?

We need to create ITS settings in system object
Select Internet Transaction Server in the Property Category drop list from Ur system object
Give details as below
ITS Description: Give description
ITS Host Name: bs3q01.mycompany.com:8001
This information can be found under transaction code SMICM. Choose menu path GoTo  Services and you can find the hostname and port for the HTTP record.
ITS Path: /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
ITS Protocol: HTTP
Save
And also u need to activate these services
Goto Ur backend system goto SICF execute -- default_host sap bc gui sap its webgui
Right click and activate services

To active the services for ESS and MSS .I have used the tcode SICF.After That I followed the path SAP---.>BC---->Webdynpro----->SAP.I had right clicked and made the services active.The services are active,but when I click on test services system says"Could not find host or port information".Why i am getting this error and what should I do in order to resolve it.What affect will it have if the services does not get okayed in test services?Please provide me the information as the requirement is urgent.

Help with S_SERVICES configuration for ESS WebDynpro

In the authorization instructions for ESS MyERP2004, it is stated to add required services to the S_SERVICES. Many of the application components in the content administrator have a path longer than the field length to add these services.
Here is the example:
The service names must follow the naming convention <vendor>/<dc>/<Application>. Example: sap.com/ess~us/Per_Address_US
Has anyone completed this? I would appreciate some tips in completing this task successfully.
