Configuring WAN Simulator with WAAS

Hi all,
I have a remote site in Pune India and I am trying to set up a WAN simulator to simulate the WAN link with WAAS to Pune. Below is the topology and questions.
Server farm <-- WAN simulator PC --> 3750 layer 3 switch <-- client PCs
Questions:
1 - Where would I place the WAAS device ?
2 - I only have one spare WAE for this test. Can this scenario work with only one WAE ? or do I need two WAEs (one on each side) for WAAS to work ?
3 - Do I need a Central Controller for WAAS to function ?
Thanks in advance !!! I appreciate any inputs / suggestions !!
Danny

Hi Danny,
On the second WAE, you need to configure WCCP just like its configured on first WAE. And WCCP will
redirect traffic to both of these WAE's.
There are Two Algorithms for redirecting traffic,
- Hash
- Mask
WCCP intercepted traffic is forwarded to WAE based on bucket placement algorithm, hashing or masking with
IP addresses.
This link explains on wccp redirection,
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Data_Center/WAASDC11.html#wp95583
Attached pdf file explains in detail on wccp and redirection methods,
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Rahul

  • How to configure ASA5512X DMZ with a Public IP address?

    Hi;
I hav a ASA5512X firewall with 6 interface, interface 0 has been assigned to a WAN connectivity with ADSL, in which my ISP gave me two static IPs (not a block range of IP), my ISP mapped the Mac address of an interface to a ip address, this is what they called "Dynamice-Static" which is likely you research a mac address of an device on DHCP server, then it always giving you the same ip address.
Here is the scenario, in order to have the 2nd static IP, I need to give them the mac address of another interface on ASA5512x.  I am thinking to give them the interface mac address of interface #3,  however; the public ip address assigned to interface 0 is a WAN and the public ip address assigned to interface 3 will be on the same subnet from ISP, in this scenario, any problem and limitation, also; can I create a nat to translate the public ip on DMZ to one of the host in inside LAN?

What are you trying to do? What is the purpose of the second public ip? You can use that guy for any number of things. One to one NAT for one thing or another is most common [mail server, web server, RDP terminal, ect]. All of those would go over the same interface to get out to the internet.
Dynamic-Static is PAT. One IP address, multiple clients using different ports. Simliar to NAT, but different in how the translation is handled.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa82/configuration/guide/config/nat_dynamic.html#wp1078939
SOOOO To answer what you are asking, just give them the MAC of the Interface 0. You can't have overlapping IPs on the interfaces. Won't work. Also if nothing is plugged into that interface, that IP won't do you any good. You could have a DMZ switch that your ASA and ISP link into, and have that second IP assigned to a device you plug into that DMZ switch. I've had to do that with some VCS servers to get Jabber working on it.

  • 2509 router does not accept wan ip with subnet

hi i hv 2509, 2501. while configuring wan ip on serial interface its ot allowing me to configure ip with other subnet mask , its allowing only ip with default subnet mask, for eg- if i giv 202.54.10.1 255.255.255.252 on s0 of 1st router then router does not allow me to configure , but if i give 202.54.10.1 255.255.255.0 then it configure smoothly , can any body tel me why?

I am not confident that ip classless will help this issue. ip classless has to do with how we interpret the content of the routing table and not to do with how interfaces are configured. It is more likely that the ip subnet-zero command might be the solution for the symptom described.
I would ask for some clarification from Gulshan. When you attempt to configure the router with 202.54.10.1 does it give error message saying invalid mask? If so it is a symptom of attempting to configure an address that falls into subnet zero (which your example does). If you configure the router with ip subnet-zero and then attempt to configure the interface it should work ok.
Restriction on the use of subnet zero was common many releases of IOS ago. But those restrictions are not common in more recent versions of code. It sounds like your router is running code which enforces this restriction by default.

  • How does QoS work with WAAS WCCP? What's the interaction between QoS Traffic Classification and WAE Traffic Application Policy?

How does QoS work with WAAS WCCP? What's the interaction between Router QoS Traffic Classification and WAE Traffic Application Policy?

By default, WAAS preserves the DSCP marking on intercepted packets.  There is a configuration option to set/override the DSCP value at the global (device), application, and classifier levels.  Currently WAAS provides marking only.  There is no action taken by WAAS based on the DSCP value.

  • Static WAN IP with PPPoE?

    Hello,
I have a Linksys AM200 ADSL modem (in bride mode) hooked up to an Airport Extreme, configured with PPPoE. What I do not want in the PPPoE mode is a DHCP assigned WAN IP address. I have a static WAN IP address given to me by my ISP, but I am not able to configure it in the Airport Utility program?
Any idea how to do this?
BTW, the reason why I have the ADSL modem in bridge mode is that Google Maps is not working when I use this device in gateway mode with the firewall enabled. Has the AE a firewall active when using PPPoE?
    Ringo

The problem with Google Maps not working when the firewall was enabled on my Linksys ADSL modem seems to be related to the burst of new connections that is made to Google Maps servers to retrieve all the maps images. When the firewall is enabled, this burst doesn't seem to get through. With the firewall disabled, it seems to work fine.
As a result, I changed my setup in such a way that the ADSL modem is no longer my gateway, but my AE is. Doing this however, I seem to have lost my static WAN IP address (where I pay for with my ISP!). Don't mind the Google Maps thing, but please focus on my real question:
Is it possible to configure my AE with PPPoE and a static WAN IP address?

  • Router IOS requirements to work with WAAS WCCP?

Can some help me with up to date switch and router IOS requirements to work with WAAS WCCP configuration? There used to be a Cisco document explaining that but I can't find it any more.
Here is out WAAS 4.2.3 deployment in the network:
Data center: Cat6500 Sup720-3B running IOS 12.2(18)SXF12a will do WCCP L2 redirection. I've seen minimum Sup720 IOS requirement of 12.2(18)SXF13 in one place and 12.2(18)SXF16 in another, but there are also examples of using 12.2 (18) SXF5. Which one is the latest Cisco recommendation?
Remote sites: 3825 and 3845 routers (some are running 12.4 T train and some are in 12.4 main line) will do WCCP GRE redirection to WAE's. One of the routers will use a WAE-NME-522 module. Others are WAE applicances. Again, what are the latest Cisco recommendations?
Another question: for an IOS release, does it matter which package to use, such as advanced IP services, enterprise services, or SP services?
    Thanks a lot.

    Here you go.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/contnetw/ps5680/ps6870/white_paper_c11-608042.html
For IOS release, you will need a package that has WCCP support.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • Apple Airport Express Base Station 10/100BASE-T Ethernet WAN port with AirT

Hello fellow mac users, I am currently interested in getting the Apple Airport Express Base Station 10/100BASE-T Ethernet WAN port with AirTunes. However I already have a Linksys Wireless G with SpeedBooster router. Will the Airport Express with iTunes work with my router? Or will it work with any router? Thanks!
P.S. I want to get the Apple Airport Express Base Station 10/100BASE-T Ethernet WAN port with AirTunes
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Yes, it should be possible. Since your iMac is connected via Ethernet to another router, you would have to reconfigure which Network Service you will be using on the iMac to switch between streaming and connecting to the Internet.
For example, I am assuming that the Built-in Ethernet service is currently at the top of the Port Configurations 0list within System Preferences > Network > Show = Network Port Configurations when your iMac is connected to the other router by Ethernet. You would then need to drag the AirPort item to the top of the list, and then, connect to the AirPort Express to stream.
The other option to avoid this is to configure the AirPort Express to join the wireless network created by the 2Wire router.

  • A problem with WAAS mobile client

The customer has a problem with WAAS mobile client. When he disabled WAAS mobile client - all is working, but http is not working.:-( On the server the accelerated networks are configured. The browser send the http request, but the response is not received:-( For other clients it is working. Thank you for help.

I have WAAS mobile server version 3.4.0.1460 on the Windows2003 server with SP1. Client OS is Windows XP. All clients who use WAAS mobile client have WinXP on their notebooks. All clients are on the same network. This client sees this problem when the waas client is active, disabled, and for now when the waas mobile client is uninstalled - it seems like waas mobile client changed registers for IE or FireFox - so all http answers are redirected to nonexisting waas mobile client:-(
    Thank you

  • Doesn't play songs, "itunes is not configured for use with mac-formatted"??

Hi, new ipod shuffle. Seems to charge fine, all indicator lights function as expected. Everything looks fine in itunes. But it doesn't play songs. I have the most recent versions of itunes and the ipod software. Re-set, updated, and restored, nothing works. Even restored using the restore utility. Re-started computer. Checked for volume control. Won't play songs. Tried different file types. Songs play fine from itunes library and from the device's library within itunes. Tried different headphones. Hooked it up to computer speakers. Turning volume all the way up on device and speakers, heard some very faint rhythmic static, so my guess is the jack socket (or whatever you call it) is just messed up, but it seems weird that it can transfer power and data to the device but doesn't work for sound...
The only other issues that have come up is that the drive disappears in explorer once it syncs with itunes. Other people who've noticed this seem to have completely different problems so I don't think it's related.
Also, I have MacDrive on my computer. And when it starts up with the ipod plugged in, MacDrive offers the message "Itunes is not configured for use with Mac-formatted ipods." It offers to automatically reconfigure itunes so it can read mac-formatted ipods. Since I've restored the device, I don't see why formatting should be an issue so I say "no."
Should I try letting macdrive do its format thing? Should I try formatting the ipod disk on the My Computer menu? Or should I just email apple and tell them the jack's busted?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

Well, I have had my iPod for about 3 years, it is a 4th generation non-video 40 GB. One day it just stopped working, and now it does not play any songs. when I turn it on it makes this odd whirring sounds that computers make when they try really hard to do something. I cannot charge it, and it is not recognized by iTunes. Also when I turn it on, I get the apple.com/ipod/support (or whatever it is) screen. Needless to say, my warranty is expired, and so I cannot do anything for it except get a new battery, or buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this problem, or anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing?
I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's iPod. However it will play about 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next song.
If there is anyone out there that can help please do!

    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

boot data configuration missing or with errors
It probably means the BCD is missing or corrupt.
To repair this, you need to access the recovery environment. Microsoft says Windows 8 will eventually take you there if it fails to boot many times. You can also get there using a System Repair Disc or a Windows 8 installation DVD like this downloadable one. You need the 64-bit disc.
It's possble this will also work on your Toshiba machine. Restart the computer by pressing the power button and immediately start tapping the F12 key until the Boot Menu appears. Using the arrow keys, select <HDD Recovery>.
WinRE looks like this. Select Troubleshoot and then Advanced options.
Lots of things to try. See KB2622803 for boot sector problems. The article assumes Windows Vista/7. The same fixes look different in Windows 8, but are all available.
If Automatic Repair (Startup Repair in 8.1) and System Restore fail, use the bootrec tool at the command prompt. This applies to Windows 8 also.

Don't give up until you have tried replacing the BCD itself as follows. (Sometimes the partition is not named "c" and you need to try another letter.)

  • Whats a good mac to use for a home flight simulator with flight controls and foot pedals?

whats a good mac to use for a home flight simulator with flight controls and foot pedals?
My old 6100 AV worked great on A10 ATTACK, back in 1993.
whats a good set up now a days?
I havent seen any MAC set ups as a lot of the after market accessories are on  Windows platform.
Is there a way or should I get a dedicated simulator on PC?

The fact that USB flight input devices appear to Windows only is not a limitation; for Mac most are programmed through the sim itself. I know X-Plane does that.
I've simmed a lot and know that good sims need a lot of processor and video hardware horsepower, and you'll also need a lot of RAM. They also run up the internal temps. A Mac Pro has better cooling than an iMac. You can get a program like SMCFanControl to manually set up the fans speeds before starting the sim.
I know of no sims today that will still run on a PowerPC Mac (2005 and earlier) so you need to look to an Intel Mac with top specs. If looking at iMacs, start by looking for the quad-core i7 processor. Those models usually came with an up-rated video card. Thing 12 to 16GB RAM.
My 2010 iMac has the 2.93gHz i7 processor, video hardware (ATI 5750) with 1TB VRAM, and 12 GB of RAM. It runs the x-Plane 10 demo fine but I've not bought the full version because v10 seems to make foot pedals darned near mandatory, and I don't want $100 worth of pedals under my regular work desk at the moment.

    Hello!
I´m sorry it took so long to reply, but I´m new to these blogs; and I´ve been travelling a lot... Anyway, I was able to configure Airport Express, but I was told I could use it to expand my wireless network inside my house; which I found it´s not possible.
So, I´m returning my Airport Express to the store tomorrow and try to figure out a way to extend my wireless in any other way.
Any sugestion? Big houses are a problem...
Best regards, and once again thank you!
