Configuring Web ADI

Hi All
When I try to export the data from the People> Enter and Maintain using the Export Data icon, I am getting the following error mssg:
"Function not available to this responsibility. Change responsibilites or contact system administrator.
And also when I try to export data from some other windows, its is showing the following error:
"APP_PER_289792: Before you can run a mail merge or data extract from this window, your system administrator must define a Web ADI integrator and associate it with the window. There are currently no integrators associated with this window."
How to configure and use the Web ADI's in HRMS?

One of the known issues when applying Patch 3218526 - BNE.D is:
Error: You do not have permission to access this functionality.
This error will be shown after applying BNE.D and not completing the Post-install steps noted in Note: 287080.1 - About Web Applications Desktop Integrator Mini-pack 11i.BNE.D. If this error is received after completing the Post-install steps, it may be caused by bug 3951092. A workaround is for users to remove all items in their Self Service Favorites menu.

Web ADI and Windows error 1706

Hi everyone,
In a test instance I've configured Web ADI. When an accountant tries to create a spreadsheet he gets a popup box saying, "Please wait while Windows configures Oracle Client." Followed by the error, "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Oracle Client. Windows Installer cannot continue." He can click OK and get past the message but it happens every time.
I've searched MOS but came up empty. Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't get anyone else willing to test until I get this problem resolved on this one work station.Please try from some other machine as suggested before in my previous reply and see if you can reproduce the issue.
Also, check the BNE.log file for any errors and post it here.

Web ADI Configuration Error

Hi,
We are getting the following error.
Web ADI Configuration Error
BNE_UIX_PHYSICAL_DIRECTORY is not configured. FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=http://hostname.domainname:port/OA_HTML/cabo/images/t.gif"
I followed the below thread

If set, please unset the above profiles (remove from the site value)..

Set the following 2 system profiles as follows:
BNE UIX Physical Directory $COMMON_TOP/webapps/oacore/html/cabo/
BNE Upload Staging Directory /tmp

Unset the 'BNE_UIX_PHYSICAL_DIRECTORY' profile option (null value is the default) and set other BNE profile options with the correct value
But anyways, I have checked both - setting and unsetting the profile options and bounced apache
But still not working

Web ADI installation and configuration

Hi,
Im currently running 11.5.9 on 32-bit solaris, and would like to install web ADI. can you please direct me to appropriate documentation or source of info.

web ADI is already installed. Please check for example if the responsibilities are present. This is not said you will have to patch up when you try it out.

Unable to insert rows in the Web ADI document

Hi,
I am facing issue with Web ADI document while inserting the new rows. I have configured the Web ADI to update the SIT information of employees. I am able to download the data, modify the data and upload it successfully. However, when I try to add new rows in the document, it says 'Context values cannot be changed'.
Could anyone help me out as to what needs to be done to add new rows to the sheet ?

There are certain areas of the Web ADI template where information cannot be changed, particularly in the Context area. Trying to change values in this area will result in the error

Web ADI - Error in BneMailMerge()

Hi,
I have configured a Web ADI letter for Contract Printing and I get an error in BneMailMerge() as the view attached with Integrator doesnot fetch any row.
But when I execute the same view from Pl/sql developer,it fetches the rows properly.
Any hints,what can be the cause of this issue.

Jujaar,
I had this same issue but for me it was with the view that I was using i.e it didnt have proper joins. I would suggest to check your Visual Basic security settings in MS Word if thats what you are using though I realize that this error shows up at the end when it attempts to open the letter.

Web ADI - @Oracle site

We're attempting to configure make the switch from ADI 7.2 to Web ADI. As part of this process, all of the documentation we have found tells us to make use of the “Save to Form Function” to allow a save under Web ADI Create Documents. This appears to only be active under the System Administration responsibility, which we do not have.
How are other @Oracle sites accomplishing this?

Hi,
We are on 11.5.10.2 with Web ADI patchset C RUP 7 & Desktop Integrator (bne) patch#4278155 & 4376559.
We are first time implemeting this.What are all additional steps required for this setup.Please guide me further.

Adding field to custom web ADI

Hi All,
I am new to web ADI. I need to add a column to existing custom web ADI which is fetching data from view and after editing it allows to upload data and make changes. I have added a column to the view from which web ADI is fetching but i am not able to fetch the newly added column in mapping under source column. Can anyone please help me.

Hi Yash,
Have you tried using a web link field on the object you wish to pass the field from to access the custom web tab? i.e. if you want to pass Account Name as a parameter into the contents of a custom web tab you can configure a web link field to launch a URL in a custom web tab and pass the %%%AccountName%%% as a parameter on the URL.
As Deepak has already pointed out, you must have the context of a specific record in order to pass a value into a custom web applet so you must be on the detail page of the selected record first.

Problem
1. No Servlets run, not even IsItWorking
2. Some servlets don't run
3. When running BneCaboTestServlet, an "Internal Server Error" is displayed when trying to generate either the "Simple Cabo Page" or the "Complex Cabo Page".
4. I've made changes to the configuration files but the changes seem to have no effect.
5. Netscape displays the following error
Not Found The requested URL /...../styles.blaff.css was not found
Solution
1.This can happen if you have problems with the repository property settings in the zone.properties file. Check jserv.log, if you see a message that states: "Error creating classloader for servlet zone root : java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Repository d:/webadi/lib/badfilename.zip doesn't exist", then confirm that each file listed in the zone.properties repository properties is correctly specified and that the file can be read.
2. If other servlets such as the IsItWorking servlet runs but a specific servlet, (say BneSnoopServlet) doesn't run, check that the servlet is properly aliased in the zone.properties file.
A servlet consists of a single java .class file. The .class file is often created within a java package. In the example of the BneSnoopServlet, the servlet .class file name is BneSnoopServlet.class which exists in the "oracle.apps.webadi.framework" java package. The servlet.BneSnoopServlet.code property in the zone.properties file setting defines the servlet and the package name the servlet exists in for your zone. If the servlet name or package name is not spelled correctly, or even if it isn't in the correct case, the servlet will not be able to run.
If a specific servlet won't run, it could also be due to problems with the servlet finding java classes that are required by the servlet. You will need to check the error_log, jserv.log or mod_jserv.log files. Search for errors that include "ClassNotFoundException" in the message. These log files will help you determine the missing class, you will then need to determine which .jar or .zip file contains the required .class file and ensure that the installation is configured to appropriately reference the .jar or .zip file.
3. The error message will also include the text "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request." To resolve this, check the message in the mod_jserv.log file. If an error is listed that describes a "NoSuchMethodError" and includes references to "oracle.bali.share.util.IntegerUtils", then you will need to edit the jserv.properties file and place a comment character of # at the start of the line that defines the "wrapper.classpath" property that references the share-opt-1_1_4.zip file in the portal30 and bibeans directory.
4.When changes are made to the jserv.properties, zone.properties, webadi.properties or the httpd.conf configuration file(s), the Oracle 9iAS HTTP Server (Apache) must be restarted. When restarting the server, remember to allow a delay of a minute or two between the time you stop the server and the time you restart the server. This is to give the JServ module time to shut down and restart the java virtual machine
5. The configuration of the Web ADI application has not been set up to reference the cabo requirements as documented in this installation guide. Please reread this installation guide and resolve any differences. One point about Netscape is that Netscape will display an error and not attempt to render your page if certain errors like this one occurs. It can be helpful to use Internet Explorer for testing your application because Internet Explorer will typically still attempt to render your page. You can then use the view source option to see the actual HTML generated which can be helpful in resolving issues

How to implement STANDARD Picklists in Web ADIs

Hi,
I have been developing, configuring and implementing Custom Web ADIs in Oracle HRMS and I have used Excel 2000 as the third party tool and were able to implenment CREATE and UPDATE type of Integrators.
Also I am able to implement 'Standalone Queries'.
Using BEN_INTERFACE_COLS_B Table I am able to implement POPLISTs which is one among the two types of LOVs supported by Web ADI.
The other type is 'STANDARD' LOVs. I was trying to implement STANDARD LOVs, by using BNE_COMPONENTS_B Table.
But I got struckup at this point on,
1. Will Oracle Web ADI support user defined Java Class components?
2. If so after developing the Java componenet, what all updations are required other than updating BNE_COMPONENETS_B Table?
(How to integrate this java component with the integrator, I knew that VAL_COMPONENT_APP_ID & VAL_COMPONENT_CODE in the
Table BEN_INTERFACE_COLS_B has to be updated but will this be enough? )
3. Where to put the Java class component file in the Unix box to be used by the Custom Web ADIs.

Hi,
I tried updating bne_interface_cols_b for an existing column.
In launch Journal wizard, the 'Expense Type' or 'Segment3' has some LOV attached to it. I need to point that LOV to my custom table somehow.
I tried updating the table with the given values

Web ADI and Excel XP

Hi,
I am trying to create a custom integrator using HR Integrator setup. The downloaded excel sheet shows up a modal window " Processing: Create Document" and it remains in that state forever. I also dont see Oracle menu option in the menu bar. My desktop configuration is: Windows XP home & Excel XP and I have set required options in IE and Excel. I tried on another desktop with Excel 2003 and it works fine there. So did any one face any issues working with Excel XP?Any help is much appreciated.

I am using Web ADI with Excel XP and it is working fine. Please ensure that the Security Level is set to Medium and Trusted publisher is also set to "Trust access to Visual Basic Project".
Also, for the browser set browser security correctly i.e
in Local Intranet -> Custom Level -> "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe" to Prompt
