Configuring X for use with Television on Nvidia

Hi there!
I on a nVidia GeForce 8500 GT with TV-Out. I would like to use my old CRT-Mitsubishi-TV to watch Movies on it. What I did was buying a connector from S-Video to Cinch (this one to be exactly: http://www.reichelt.de/?;ARTICLE=57611, then I plugged a long cinch cabel into it and connected it to the Television with a SCART-Converter.
I 'm perfectly able to get a picture onto my TV with TwinView configured. A configuration with to seperate screens didn't work (probably because of KDE4). The only problem I have is, that there is always some space cut off. If I put a window into fullscreen there is always some space I can't see (on all 4 sides). That's a little annoying. Does anyone have a clue what the problem could be?
I already played around with some settings (different resolutions, composite/s-video, different tv-standards, etc.), but nothing really helped. All modes that worked more or less had cut-off areas. As I only want to play movies (usually with vlc) I would be fine with any other solution, that makes the vlc full-screen-view fit into the TV.
Here are the important parts of my xorg.conf (please don't care too much for the actual modeline, as I said I tried many different resolutions for the TV):

mis-read your post, sorry.
I'm assuming you've tried nvidia's tools for this, so have you looked into xrandr? It provides a non config userspace way to set-up multy display and provides scaling, I think that may help you here.
man xrandr for more information
I used the posted xorg.conf with xrandr (i. e. "xrandr -r 50 -s 1680x1050" to switch to the monitor only modeline etc.), i also played around with "NVidia X-Server Settings", but with no success.
I already used this television with an Intel-Graphics-Card, xrandr was more useful back then. I for example used this script to switch to dual-view:
#!/bin/sh
xrandr --auto
xrandr --output LVDS --mode 800x600
xrandr --output TV --same-as LVDS
xrandr --output TV --set TV_FORMAT PAL
xrandr --output TV --mode 800x600
I believe this has worked fine. So it probably is the fault of the Nvidia-Card or the S-Video-To-Cinch-Connector (which I hadn't used before). Or it is because of bad configuration.
karol wrote:- rescaling your movies, adding a border around the frame to compensate for the cut-off (if it is regular and constant).
Yes, I tried different resolutions. To me the cut-off areas seemed to always be the same. I'll go on with resizing the VLC-X-Video-output-Window to fit. Is there an easy way to do this (or cut off certain areas in an comfortable way with vlc)? Of course I would also love to hear further ideas on what I could do about this issue.

  • How do i configure outlook for use with icloud and my iphone?

I am at a loss at how to configure my outlook 2007 for the best synch and use with my icloud and or iphone. Any help out there?

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24481/ntfs-3g
If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

  • Configuring DBI for use with Oracle 8i

We have problem while openning the connection to Oracle 8i using DBI. The error we keep getting when we run a test script is:
DBD::Oracle object version 1.03 does not match bootstrap parameter 0.47 at directory path/DynaLoader.pm line 188.
The same script is working fine on another computer where we have Oracle 8.05 installed.
Probably the DBD is not installed or configured properly. Is there anything we can do to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Based on your description, clearly the SPA941 is not registered to a VoIP provider or a SIP server PBX. I am not familiar with the BT bussinness hub if this serves as the PBX of the VoIP network but youb are correct in saying that you need to configure the URL set up of the unit. You need to access the URL via its IP address. To know the IP address of the unit, follow this link:
    http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5230&p_created=11688...
After this, forll thw link for the registration of the VoIP information:
    http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=16560&p_created=1211...
You need to also place in this field the “User ID” (usually you phone number from the VoIP provider), the password and the codec being used but youu VoIP provider. Save the settings and check in the “Info” tab if the extension is “registered”.
If you still have the same problem, I suggest contacting Cisco Tech support to further look into your concern. I believe this unit belongs to the business series devices that Cisco is now supporting. Try to go to this link for the other business series devices and the site where you can get hold of Cisco for support:

  • How to configure ex90 for use with polycom resource manager GAB

My customer has a Polycom infrastructure, including using Resource Manager for the GAB server. I also have several Cisco endpoints deployed (EX90 and C40) and I need to get these units configured to use the GAB. Polycom documentation sucks and only says:
    1. At the endpoint, enter the information required for directory set up including the Polycom Global Address Book/RealPresence Resource Manager system IP address and the path.
    For example, http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx.
To do this on Cisco endpoints, go to System Configuration> Phone Book Server.
    2. Wait for the connections to take effect
When I go to the EX90 phone book server setup page, I only have ID, Type and URL fields. The type field has a drop down that only has Cisco options available (VCS, TMS, Callway and CUCM)
No matter what combination I use, I haven't been able to get the EX90 to pickup the Polycom directory.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

What happens when you try that URL (http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx) from a Web Browser - do you see anything, or get an error?
You'll need to make sure that's accessible first before trying to configure your endpoints to use it.

That's impossible. You need to set up a Family Pack subaccount if you want separate mailboxes.

  • Configuration of XSQL for use with non-Oracle dbs

If anyone has positive experiences with configuring XSQL for use with non Oracle databases I'd like to hear how they did it, see tutorials, configuration files, etc.
Specifically setting up to use MySQL or Postgresql on Linux/FreeBSD would be very interesting.
Also, does anyone use this without setting mime types? How would you go about this so you could point to the relevant servlets in the page?
    Josh

I don't understand how setting up for Non-Oracle DB's is related to not setting up the servlet as an extension-mapped servlet.
It might work, but would you run JSP's
that way? XSQL behaves very similiarly
inside to how a JSP runner works, which
    wants to be servlet-mapped.
However, OAS 4.0.8.1 does not support
extension mapping and XSQL works there
so i'm assuming it would work on other
servers set up that way. It's not
    a configuration we test/certify.

  • Preparing OVD for use with OAM

    Hi,
I am trying to configure OVD for use with OAM. I am trying to present two directories, one from AD and the other from Sun LDAP, with OVD.
In case of AD, I am using the "OAM/AD Adapter with Mapper" template, and it does appear to be massaging Active Directory into a more inetOrgPerson schema... however the relative distinguished name (rdn) of the objects are still cn=username.
This is in conflict with the users that are coming in from Sun, who have an rdn of uid=username. I'm concerned that this is going to create difficulties for OAM, and it just feels wrong (especially since we are migrating many of these users to AD at which point their DNs will change).
    My questions are:
    1. Is there a best practice for what the RDN should be for OAM? It seems like the product has historically used uid as the RDN, and so that feels safest.
    2. Should I, and if so, how can I get OVD to translate the RDNs? Why don't the templates do this automatically?
    - Jim

OAM is not concerned with the RDN of a user in AD or Sun. It can be anything.
So in OVD you can have dn like uid=usrid,dc=example,dc=com for Sun and cn=commonname,dc=example,dc=com for AD.
Only thing to take care is you have configured OVD with the same objectclass for AD and Sun.
For example "OAM/AD Adapter with Mapper" maps AD's user object class into inteorgperson and same goes for Sun. So in OAM you have to configure user objectclass as "inetorgperson"
OAM searches are based on the login id, so in this case it will always be uid="user login" which OVD will translate into samaccountname for AD and uid for Sun.
There is no restriction in OAM on what the RDN should be for a user entry.

  • ISetup for use with Oracle Incentive Compensation (OIC)

I have read conflicting reports as to whether or not iSetup would be available for use to migrate Compensation Plans (and all other OIC configurations) across instances of Oracle Apps eBusiness.
Does anyone know if R12 (12.04) is capable of handling OIC migrations? Is there any documentation available as to how one would configure iSetup for use with OIC?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
This is Mugunthan from iSetup development. OIC is not covered as a part of standard selection sets shipped by Oracle. You may consider logging a SR (product code - 841) to get the coverage.
If you already have java program/scripts that migrate OIC, then you can plugin them with iSetup. You can also write your own BC4J APIs for migration of OIC setups and register with iSetup.
To know more about writing BC4J iSetup Fwk APIs, please log a SR.

  • Doesn't play songs, "itunes is not configured for use with mac-formatted"??

Hi, new ipod shuffle. Seems to charge fine, all indicator lights function as expected. Everything looks fine in itunes. But it doesn't play songs. I have the most recent versions of itunes and the ipod software. Re-set, updated, and restored, nothing works. Even restored using the restore utility. Re-started computer. Checked for volume control. Won't play songs. Tried different file types. Songs play fine from itunes library and from the device's library within itunes. Tried different headphones. Hooked it up to computer speakers. Turning volume all the way up on device and speakers, heard some very faint rhythmic static, so my guess is the jack socket (or whatever you call it) is just messed up, but it seems weird that it can transfer power and data to the device but doesn't work for sound...
The only other issues that have come up is that the drive disappears in explorer once it syncs with itunes. Other people who've noticed this seem to have completely different problems so I don't think it's related.
Also, I have MacDrive on my computer. And when it starts up with the ipod plugged in, MacDrive offers the message "Itunes is not configured for use with Mac-formatted ipods." It offers to automatically reconfigure itunes so it can read mac-formatted ipods. Since I've restored the device, I don't see why formatting should be an issue so I say "no."
Should I try letting macdrive do its format thing? Should I try formatting the ipod disk on the My Computer menu? Or should I just email apple and tell them the jack's busted?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

Well, I have had my iPod for about 3 years, it is a 4th generation non-video 40 GB. One day it just stopped working, and now it does not play any songs. when I turn it on it makes this odd whirring sounds that computers make when they try really hard to do something. I cannot charge it, and it is not recognized by iTunes. Also when I turn it on, I get the apple.com/ipod/support (or whatever it is) screen. Needless to say, my warranty is expired, and so I cannot do anything for it except get a new battery, or buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this problem, or anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing?
I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's iPod. However it will play about 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next song.
If there is anyone out there that can help please do!

I currently have a D-Link DI-604 broadband router with windows computers.  How can I add wifi to the network for use with ipad?  Can I use AirPort Express?

Yes. You can directly connect an 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) using an Ethernet cable. The AXn would then just need to be configured as a bridge to allow the D-Link to continue to provide both NAT & DHCP services for all network clients connected to either router.
In this configuration, the AXn would broadcast a wireless network for your wireless network clients to connect to.

Do i need to reformat a new samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro?
I have an old bipra which i use and i just remember literally plugging it in and going.

I don't know about your particular configuration but usually Disk Utility not recognizing a drive means the drive/card is history.  My G4 running OSX 10.4.11 will format SD cards.
I don't know your model computer. Is this one with a SD slot built in?  If it is, do you have an external reader, or can you try another card in this slot to see if it is a slot problem?

In both LabVIEW 6 and 7, you connect to modbus using Lookout Protocol Drivers (LPD) and then communicate to LPD using the tag engine of LabVIEW DSC or through DataSocket.
