Conflict between ATI Multimedia Center Library and iTunes

I have the HDTV Wonder with my computer. I can record TV shows and in the ATI Multimedia Center Library, it's a "cinema" type of file. Whwn I listen live a TV show, the program record automaticaly the TV show and in the ATI Multimedia Center Library, it's a "TV-ON-DEMAND" type of file. Both of the two types of file have ".VCR" extention. I have no problem to listen the "Cinema" type of file. When I try to listen the "TV-ON-DEMAND" type, it's iTunes who start and it can't read this ".VCR" file. I can't find what is the problem. I have this problem since I upgrade iTunes. iTunes is not my default player and the .VCR file is associate to ATI Multimedia.

Thanks a lot for no response  I discovered Disk Utility.

Is there a conflict between Safari 4.0.4 and the latest version of FlashPlayer? I have tried repeatedly to download and install the latter. Instead of properly installing, FP ends up in my Disabled Plugins folder in my Library. Help!

Safari 4.0.4 or 4.0.3 ??  your profile shows you are running v10.6.8.
If you are running v10.6.8, click your Apple menu  / Software Update. The current version of Safari is 5.0.5.
    Then if necessary, reinstall Flash.

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

I am a long time iTunes user but a new MacBook owner! I keep the majority of my music files on an external hard drive.   I'm trying to view all those files on my MacBook through iTunes.   With windows you would go to : File/Add To Library, and iTunes would add all your selected files to your music library BUT WOULD NOT COPY THEM TO YOUR HARD DRIVE.  In other words, if the external hard drive was connected, you could listen, drag/drop, and edit the files.   When I tried the same thing with my new MacBook... it actually started coping the files to my MacBook harddrive.  I don't want that, it's millions and millions of mp3's that I don't want to keep on my computer, only my external hard drive.   Can anyone help?    I'm sure it's something easy, I'm just so new to the Mac world.   Being an iPhone owner for many many years I'm picking up things fast, but this is getting the best of me!  Help !

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

  • Swipe between iTunes library and iTunes store

I don't know how I did it...but the other day I was swiping between my iTunes library and the store.  I find a song, swipe to my library and see if I had it, swipe back to the store to buy or look at another song.
    How did I do this??
    Thanks.

You can do this by double-clicking on the store to open it in a separate window.  Use Lion's mission control and drag the store window to it's own desktop.  Then you can swipe back and forth between them with the magic mouse or a trackpad using a two-fingered swipe.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes Library and iTunes music library in Finder

iTunes is reporting that I have 2313 files @ 13.96GB
but when im looking at the iTunes music folder within Finder(username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music, Finder reports that I've got 4400 files @ 20.13GB
iTunes is set to control my library at that folder.
    What's going on here...?
This is all under osx 10.6.2 and iTunes 9.0.2
    Thanks

The stats at the bottom of the screen when you look at the Music section of your library are just for music, there are separate totals for Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunes U, Audiobooks, Applications & Ringtones. When you look at *iTunes\iTunes Music* in Finder this will contain all the files from all the sections. It is also possible that you have at some point deleted files from iTunes without deleting them from the hard disk or manually placed files within the iTunes Music folders and then neglected to import them into iTunes. If you have any *iTunes LPs* these will count as a single file in the iTunes library but typically contain 100s of individual files (html, artwork, scripts etc.). I don't know about Macs, but on a PC if the library is also accessed by Windows Media Player then there can be artwork placed in album folders adding to the file count shown in the operating system.
In short there is no reason to expect the numbers & sizes to match. That said, it is still possible that there are files in your folders that are not in your library, and vice versa. The following from Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes should help you check for any discpreancies:
Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0 - Lists files in your music folder that are not in your library.
List MIAs v1.2 - Lists files in your library that are not in your music folder.

  • Cannot see BOTH synched library AND iTunes Match library at the same time

I ran iTunes Match on my library of MP3 files and hit the maximum allowed 25,000 song limit in my paid iTunes Match account. Then I created a new version of my local/PC iTunes library with those 25,000 MP3 songs removed, and synchronized it with my iPhone 4s running IOS7 and iTunes Match turned OFF. So far so good.
So now I theoretically have no duplication between my 25,000 song iTunes Match library and my local iTunes library that resides on my PC.
But even though I have the "Show All Music" setting on the phone turned on, the iTunes Match songs don't appear on my iPhone until I also turn the iTunes Match setting on. But as soon as I do that, all of the songs I synched from my local iTunes library on my PC completely disappear- having been completely replaced by my iTunes Match library. If I then turn the iTunes Match setting off again (while still leaving "Show All Music on"), the iTunes Match songs also disappear, leaving my iPhone music library completely empty. Have I misunderstood the meaning of the "Show All Music" setting, or is something malfunctioning?
My question is: How can I make ALL of my songs (both the ones I have previously captured in ITunes Match AND the ones I synched with my PC via iTunes) appear on my iPhone at the same time?  This scenario seemed to be working just fine under IOS6 on the same iPhone.

I had a somewhat similar experience.  When I enabled paid iTunes Match on my iPhone 5, iOS7, all of my locally-stored songs on the iPhone disappeared and remained gone even after I disabled iTunes Match on the iPhone.
A chat session with Apple support revealed that iTunes Match will in fact supersede any synched content on the iPhone.  The suggestion from Apple support was to download on the phone all the previously-synched content via iTunes Match wireless connection.  Of course, that would take hours if not days.  And that crazy workaround won't help you because you want songs other than what you have in the Cloud.
It appears that various members of this forum have not had this same experience.  I'm not sure what's going on here.  Usually with Apple's tight control of hardware and software these anomalies are avoided.
And I didn't really need iTunes Match except I wanted commercial-free iTunes Radio (which I think is great, by the way).  At least for now, commercial-free radio (with a paid subscription) can be achieved only by enabling all of the iTunes Match features.  I'm not sure why Apple requires this bundling unless its part of a general push to a streaming model for everything (more revenue opportunities) as opposed to supporting local storage.

  • IOS music library and iTunes syncing problems

    Hello,
Just wondering if the issues that have been bothering me for some time and with multiple recent iOS and iTunes versions are going to get fixed in the future?
Adding or removing music manually or automatically between iTunes and the iOS has resulted in the corruption of the music library on the iOS device several times and the solution to fix the problem is always to empty the device and to start over. For example today I noticed that the album art had disappeared from my music (a known issue) and I searched the forums for a solution. Well the solution is to empty all of the music from the device and upload it back again and the album art will be back. Great! Except the music got deleted and still the space in use is showing "other usage" for the exact size of my deleted music library. If I try to add some music it adds to the space of the mysterious occupied space and the device is soon full. Time to start from scratch again. The syncing is broken and the software is buggy and I'd like it to work flawlessly instead of starting from scratch every time I'm making any minor changes to my music library. I think the reliability of the software and the basic functions is more important than the ability for the phone to ring in the computer whenever I get a call. Which is pretty amazing in someone else's opinion I'm sure.
Oh yes and the iPad is not uploading updated apps to the iTunes automatically which it did some software versions ago (a known issue). This is annoying.

    Schpoiler,
I had the very same problem with you. I think the main reason for this happening is purchasing and downloading content with your phone. I don't know how it happens though, this seems the problem with me.
What I did is, I basically erased all content and settings from my iPhone and used my backup in my mac to install everything back again. After that, the "other usage" got really small in size and as I deleted all the songs by using syncing, I saw that music occupied no space in my phone. Then, I synchronized my music back again and now everything works just fine.

  • Syncing photo library and itunes

I don't even know if I am in the right discussion group. I would like to know if anyone knows how to have a master copy of your iphoto library and for that matter your itunes library on one computer(laptop) and a copy on another computer hardrive(desktop) that are synced over a wireless network? I would like while I an in the wireless network for the library's to sync at regular intervals. And when I leave the proximity of the network and make modification to the library's to have it prompt me to make sure I want to update the slave drive when I return. I don't even know if this is possible, if some one knows a solution for this or a work around please let me know. Or if I need to find solutions elsewhere.
    Regards Chad

    Chad
I don‘t know about iTunes but this Syncing is not possible with iPhoto.
But let’s be clear here: By Syncing you mean two way copying, right? Changes made on the laptop are reflected on the desktop, and those made on the desktop reflected on the Laptop?
Bluntly there is no syncing software that is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library, and attempting to sync them will corrupt one or both Libraries.
The best you can do is use iPhoto Library Manager to move pics, albums or events plus associated metadata between libraries. But this process cannot be automated.
If, however, you mean one way copying: changes made on the laptop are copied to the Desktop, then any back up utility will do that.

  • Multimedia Center deferred and never installs

I have two items that never get installed. They are both "deferred". I have installed them at least 4 times each, by selecting them and clicking install. They both seem to run the installation normally. I have run them separately and together. Nothing seems to clear them out from the Thinkvantage System Update screen.
    One is
    Multimedia Center for Think Offerings
    for Microsoft Windows Vista
Version 9.06b29e Full Install Release C
    Installation README
    The second is
    Software Name      BIOS Update Utility
    Version            2.24-1.08
    Issue date         August 25, 2008
I had already downloaded and updated the Bios using the separate CD image.
    1) How can I remove the "deferred" BIOS update from the computer and allow any new update to be installed?
    2) How can I get the Media Center software correctly installed?
    Running Thinkvantage 3.14.0017
T61p Vista Ultimate, everything up to date.

The great idea is - to update Media Player. But telling you by secret - it's a bad idea. The really great idea - not to use MP at all. Use Winamp, foobar, VLC(+skins) or iTunes, but not MP...

  • HUGE size difference b/t iTunes library and iTunes Music folder

Why the huge disparity between the size iTunes reports for my music library and the size of the "iTunes Music Library" folder calculated by Finder?
I'm trying to figure out how much space I actually use to see if I can cram my digital life into a 256 mb MacBook Air. At first, I thought it must be including mobile apps and videos, but those are in separate folders. Where is that extra 57 GB coming from?!?

Right after I clicked "post," I noticed the "Movies" folder inside the iTunes Music Library folder. That accounts for 41.51 GB, but that still leaves another 15 or so that I'm still scratching my head over.

  • Optimum set-up with external library and iTunes Match

I'm a little frustrated with iTunes Match and iTunes, as it doesn't seem to play nice with libraries stored on an external disk on a network. Here's my current set-up, and any tips on how to eliminate some of the steps I have to take would be much appreciated.
    Set-up:
One iTunes Media folder stored on external network drive at home
Another iTunes Media folder, titled "Away from Home", stored on Macbook
iTunes Match is turned on and has all songs (that qualify) uploaded onto it
Own multiple devices that access iTunes Match
If I leave my network and want to use iTunes Match, I have to:
    1. Turn off iTunes.
    2. Option-click iTunes and hold option to select a library.
    3. Choose my "Away from Home" library (or create a new one for those who haven't done this already)
    4. Sign in to iTunes, Turn on iTunes Match and add my computer/library to iTunes Match
    5. iTunes Match does it's thing which obviously means it adds 0 songs due to having an empty library, then all my iTunes Match songs populate my library
That is all fine and great. However, when I return home and want to listen to ALL songs, meaning those that didn't qualify and the unedited versions (since iTunes Match STILL pushes clean versions of songs), I must take these steps:
    1. Turn off iTunes.
    2. Option-click itunes and hold option to select my library on external network drive
    3. iTunes loads up, but only loads ~16,000 of 19,000 songs
    4. Turn iTunes off again.
    5. Open Finder, hold option when I click Go in menu bar, go to Library<Preferences and delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist file.
    6. Open iTunes again, this time not holding option
    7. iTunes opens as if it's been updated or newly installed (meaning it asks if I agree to the T&SA).
    8. All songs now found and appear
This is downright stupid. I shouldn't have to take all of these steps to do each of these. It may not sound like it takes a long time, but when you come home and want to turn on music while cleaning, entertaining friends, etc., taking these steps is a hassle and makes iTunes become a chore to run. Is there not a way to simply access my songs in the Cloud without closing iTunes and having to choose a different library? Or are these really the only steps I can take to access music from home and, subsequently, when I get back home?

  • I have put my iPhoto library and iTunes library to an external drive to free up space on my Mac.  How do I back up these libraries that are on my external drive?

I believe that Time Machine will only back up my Mac hard drive and will not know that my libraries are on an external drive.
I essentially have my Mac, 1 external for time machine back ups, and 1 external dedicated to my iPhoto and iTunes libraries.
I want to be able to have a back-up of my iPhoto and iTunes libraries that are on my external drive.  I don't believe Time Machine will know to back up those files.  Am I right?  What is the solution?

    It is that simple?
So you can have Time Machine backup several drives as long as it is not in the exclusions list?

  • Lost Link Between Library and iTunes

    Hi,
I have moved my itunes files (iTunes Library, with about 50GB of music) onto a external drive connected to my PC via USB.
When I open iTunes, it opens as usual and shows the list of all files.
However, iTunes cannot find the music files in their original location because they are now on the external drive.
Please let me know how to point iTunes to the location on the external drive where the library file can be found.
I need iTunes to map all songs automatically. I do not want to locate each and every song.
    Regards,

I just found the answer. Quite simple.
    Press ALT to display menu.
    Go to EDIT  then PREFERENCES
Click tab that says ADVANCED (far right hand side) of the pop up window.
Click CHANGE button where it says: ITunes Media Folder Location
and browse to location where the iTunes Libary & files are stored
Click OK - it took a couple of minutes to link the songs.
