Conflict between VPN and Airport disk

Hello Folks, I just bought a brand new airport extreme 802n.
I thought it would be working fine with my Macbook pro, but it doesn't.
I can't access any externe hard disk or USB Stick through the airport extreme, although the format is FAT32. I checked and checked but found nothing useful. All the settings are default.
Worth to mention, I always use a cisco VPN client to get connected to the Internet (university student).
There are few times when I disconnected the VPN Client, the USB Client can be found and read, but not be written.
I though it is a conflict between VPN and Airport disk. So I tried without VPN, but the USB stick and the extern hard disk still didn't work properly. I have no idea what is happening could somebody help?
By the way is it possible to set Airport extreme as a VPN router so I don't have to use the cisco VPN client anyway?

I have an Airport Extreme connected to a cable modem
with comcast as my isp. The Extreme is connected to
a G4 dual processor mac via ethernet. I also have 3
airport expresses around the house to work as range
extenders. When I had the G4 connect to the Extreme
via its internal airport card, I had no difficulty
connecting to any of the Expresses around the house
with my g4 powerbook. Now that I have the G4 Dual
directly connected by ethernet to get the fastest
speed, I cannot get my expresses or my laptop to
connect through my laptop to the base station. all
lights are green on the expresses, but running
network diagnostics on the powerbook shows red or
yellow for the last two buttons on the right. Do I
have a configuration problem or an Extreme that won't
bridge properly?
Check that the G4 Dual has a location configured with
only "Built-In Ethernet" activated, and that its
Ethernet connection isn't shared on AirPort.
Turn off all your AX and check that your
PB G4 is able to connect to "your" AirPort network.
Take advantage of this silence of all your AX
to run an analysis of your wireless environnement:
- check that you don't have any neighbor wireless
network,
- check that on each of your AX settlement you have a
very good reception of "your" AirPort network.
If everything works fine to that point, add one AX to
your network, and check the reachability of your network
where you wanted to extend it.

Sometimes, while playing back my software instrument songs, I get an intermittent pop-up error message, saying "Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI. Sample rate 42804 recognized. Check conflict between Garageband and external device."
(Sometimes the five digit number is different, but remains a five-digit number beginning with "4".)
Simultaneously, the song stops until I press the "Okay" button in the pop-up window.
When I continue to play the song, the sound is jerky and clipped, and the playhead doesn't keep up with the song, and then suddenly jumps to the part of the song currently being played.
There's also a sound of static.
The issue seems to occur whether or not I have my MIDI controller turned on and plugged into my desktop Imac.

How can I resolve conflict between itunes and Windows 8.1

When downloading itunes to my laptop computer, using Windows 8.1 my email/network account will not work on that computer. It is fine on other devices such as ipad and Windows phone. I can also pick up emails on online on the same laptop. There appears to be a conflict between itunes and Windows 8.1

[JS CS3] Conflict between palettes and panels

Hello,
I am having a conflict between panels and palettes. Hopefully I can get some direction without having to copy the code here, because it is very long.
I have a window of the palette type. This palette has buttons and radio buttons. The buttons call up various functions.
The radio buttons, however, make visible/invisible a series of panels in the palette. The panels are stacked upon each other, only one of which is visible at any one time, depending upon which radio button is selected.
One of the buttons in the palette calls up another palette (which also has a series of buttons for various functions). Let's call it the little palette. The problem is, that after the little palette is called up, the radio buttons in the big palette no longer work. I can select them but they will not make visible/invisible any of the stacked panels. The buttons in the visible panel work as well as all the other buttons that are always visible. The only thing that does not work are the radio buttons.
My only workaround is to just dismiss the palette and call it up again. But I'd rather fix this bug.
Any ideas? If I need to I can strip down the coding leaving only the essentials, but rather not take the time if this is a problem others have run into and hopefully have a solution for.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, but I even uninstalled both programs, tried
reinstalling Reader only, and when that didn't work, uninstalled Reader and
then reinstalled Acrobat. Still a problem. The particular website is
www.officeally.com, and it opens the PDF file in a browser window, I believe
using an ASP file.

Name space conflict between static and instance method

Hello,
there seems to be a very unfortunate name space conflict between static and instance method name. Consider:
static String description() that should return a description of a class.
String description() that should return a description of an instance.
That seems to confuse the compiler. How come? Static and instance methods don't have anything to get confused about.

It's not a bug, it's the way it's supposed to be.
Since a static method can be called the same way an instance method
A instance = new A();
A.staticMethod();
instance.staticMethod();it's not allowed.
Also in the class, you can call

Software conflict between iPhoto and Sony MP3 player

I am experiencing a major software conflict between iPhoto and my Sony MP3 player (model: NWZ-E443). In the past, whenever I connect the MP3 to my 2009 MacBook Pro, iPhoto always opened. I would simply close iPhoto and everything would be OK, though. But after upgrading iPhoto a few months ago via an upgrade download I am now unable to view images full-screen. Although thumbnails display OK, when I double-click on any of them to display full-screen, the MP3's 'Do Not Disconnect' image displays full-screen instead, even when the MP3 is not connected.
I have tried reinstalling iPhoto from the original iLife disc, but this didn't work and my fear is that the Sony software has somehow corrupted every image single file in my library.

Turns out my Mac put code on the mp3 player because after I reset the mp3 player to its 'factory settings', (erasing everything) it went back to normal and now shows up in the finder window.

Swirching between ethernet and airport

i want to be able to easily switch back and forth between ethernet and airport. is there a way to do this without having to plug/unplug the ethernet cable from airport to computer, computer to airport each time i want to change?

Try the following:
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Network
Click the small gear icon at the bottom of the connection list area
Click Set Service Order
If Ethernet is at the top of the list and you want to switch to an AirPort connection, drag AirPort to the top of the list. Click OK, Click Apply
If AirPort is at the top of the list and you want to switch to an Ethernet connection, drag Ethernet to the top of the list. Click OK, Click Apply

Backing up with Time Machine via "Personal File Sharing" and Airport Disk

I've been using Time Machine on my own Mac at home and want to use it to backup other Macs in my house as well. Right now I'm just backing up over FireWire, but plugging my disk into each of the other Macs one at a time doesn't seem to make much sense.
Besides going out and buying a Time Capsule, Leopard Server, or Xsan, what are my options for backing up multiple Macs to one disk? I've read that using an Airport disk is somewhat risky because of some "premature file transfer confirmation." Has anyone ever used Time Machine w/ Airport Disk and had problems?
I've also noticed that you can back up to shared drives, like if I share my current FireWire disk so people can back up to it, but wouldn't that require for people to connect to the host Mac manually via Finder? And wouldn't that in turn defeat the purpose of automatic scheduled backups?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

the only supported option besides Time Capsule is to back up to a hard drive directly connected to a mac running leopard on the same local network. as you mention it would indeed require that this drive be mounted first. you can automate mounting this drive on login and simply keep it mounted at all times. to do that mount the drive of the host Mac on a remote mac and while it's mounted there add it to the login items in system preferences->accounts.
You can also use drives directly attached to an airport extreme base station. that works in the same way as backups to a Time capsule.

10.5.1 and Airport disks

Airport disk under 10.5 was flaky at best. Now under 10.5.1 I can't open the disk attached to my AEBS at all. I can see the disk but clicking on it fails to open it.
I've rebooted everything. I reset the AirPort base station. I've turned the firewall off. File sharing on, off. It did work under 10.5 with an occasional dropout. And under 10.4 it "Just Works"

Same problem at my end. No problems at all with 10.4. But since 10.5 and 10.5.1 sometimes I see the disks, sometimes I can open one. But most of the times after opening, I loose connection with all of them. They do not show on the desktop either, only in finder. This is very annoying and I am considering to go back to 10.4. I am lucky, my MacBook Pro is 1,5 weeks old. I have both 10.4 and a Leopard upgrade disk to work with . However going back will be a lot of work. And Leopard should work as a minimum with Apple products would be my standpoint. And that is all I am using.
I am really curious when a solution will come. This seems a very systemic issue looking at all the discussions around this topic.

Problem SSO between VPN and NAC

Description of our problem : SSO doesn't work
-on the first connexion from vpn client we insert two time the login and password :one time for the client vpn and the seconde time for CAA (clean Access agent).
-although for the other connexion that succeed, we insert only one time the login and password (for vpn only) and for CAA the connexion is done automatiquely and a some hours later we reinsert two times login and password for vpn and CAA.
The following steps are done to configure Cisco NAC Appliance to work with a VPN concentrator:
Step 1 Add Default Login Page =ok
Step 2 Configure User Roles and Clean Access Requirements for your VPN users =ok
Step 3 Enable L3 Support on the CAS = ok
Step 4 Verify Discovery Host =ok (CAS IP ADDRESS 192.168.2.11)
Step 5 Add VPN Concentrator to Clean Access Server =ok (ASA IP ADDRESS 192.168.2.1)
Step 6 Make CAS the RADIUS Accounting Server for VPN Concentrator =ok
Step 7 Add Accounting Servers to the CAS (accounting server is CAM IP ADDRESS 192.168.20.10)
Step 8 Map VPN Concentrator(s) to Accounting Server(s)=ok
Step 9 Add VPN Concentrator as a Floating Device =ok
Step 10 Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) on the CAS/CAM =ok
the database for vpn authentication is cisco secure acs(192.168.1.30).

I have just gone the the same issues with SSO VPN with my CAS in real-ip mode.
First thing to consider, when your testing, every time you test a user, make sure you go into the CAS or CAM and remove them as a certified device or active user before you perform your next test. I found that while I was testing that it would sometimes cache the user and I was getting successful auth attempts but due to their device being already accepted on a previous connection because the CAS was not made aware that the user had logged out correctly.
1. Make sure you have a fully functional DNS system on the inside network, I didnt realize how important it was to have forward and reverse look ups for your CAS and CAM. Make sure that all CAS and cams are listed in dns with correct domain names.
This in very important if your running your own CA certificates on cas and cam. Make sure that the CAM and CAS can resolve each other via dns. Make sure the CAM and CAS can perform reverse lookups of each other. Also make sure that when the user VPN's into your ASA that they can also perform DNS lookups and reverse lookups. If they cant perform dns look ups, you may need to temporarily allow the untrusted network full access while you resolve the DNS lookup problem on the client computer. One of the issues I had was that the VPN clients couldnt resolve internal DNS names and so the CCA agent would never auto pop-up and start the auto login process because it was trying to resolve the CAM name and also check that the CA certificate I had on the CAS was legitimate as I had used names in my certs and not IP addresses.
2. Make sure your VPN group settings on the IPSEC policy of the ASA has DNS pointing to your internal DNS server.
3. I know you already said you have done this but check to make sure that the VPN group setup on your ASA for your remote access users, has been setup with the radius accounting being directed the INSIDE interface IP address of your CAS, (if you are running your CAS in real-ip, I found that the inside interface was the only interface listening on 1813, do a 'netstat -an' on the cas to check) if your running in VGW mode then you only have 1 ip address to direct it to anyway.

3. Troubleshoot and make sure that the ASA actually sends a radius accounting message to the CAS. I did this by ssh into the CAS and doing a 'tcpdump -i any src and not tcp 22'. I then logged into the VPN client and made sure that once I entered my vpn user and pass, that the ASA authenticates the vpn user and then passes a radius accounting message to the CAS informing the CAS it has allowed a new user. If you dont see this radius accounting message hit the CAS interface go back to my step 3 and resolve.
4. Finally check that you have not mistyped a shared secret somwhere, ie between CAM and ACS, Between ASA and ACS, Between ASA and CAS. I had all my users authenticate though radius on my ACS server, a number of times I got caught out by a simple typo in a shared secret.
Try these things first.

Conflict between audigy and Olympus voice recor

I have an audigy se recently installed. Seemed to be working fine until I opened my Olympus voice recorder program. Just opening the program knocked out the sound card and I could not get it back again. No speakers in any application on the computer except the diagnostic test. Then the speakers would play. But no cd's, no wav files, no nothing. Tried checking and unchecking all the boxes. There really aren't that many. Only way to solve the problem was to uninstall and reinstall audigy and not go to Olympus anymore. I've done that several times to confirm that is the problem.
Any suggestions?

Some past post here mention of this too.....and the mods suggestion does indeed helped some of them resolve it. Perhaps you can try it. What you need to do is uninstall all Norton and Creative software. When you're done with that, install Creative software first follow by Norton stuff.

Metadata Conflicts between LR4 and CS6

I recently upgraded to LR4 and CS6 Extended. I will offer start in LR4 but switch to CS6 for additional editing. On some of my thumbnails, I will see a "!" in the upper right hand corner on the thumbnails. When I click on the icon, a pop-up window appear stating a Metadata conflict has occurred. The pop-up window gives you two options: Copy file data into the catalog or have the catalog overwrite the file data. What is the best thing to do knowing you are only working between LR4 and CS6?

Leopard and Airport Disk with accounts

Question:
Has anyone have the latest firmware update on the AEBS-N and with Leopard OS with Airport Disk accounts working?
If you have downgrade firmware on AEBS-N with Airport disk set up with accounts how are you making it work?
At this time I am only getting my hard drive and not accounts showing on left sidebar.
The only way I been able to change accounts if I do a manual "connect to server" (alt-K). First I eject the shared drive on the left sidebar. Then click Alt and K key at the same time and typed in one of my accounts and password in. There must be a better way.

I have done that, but my problem is not that I cannot see my connected drive it is when I create accounts it still only shows the shared folder on that connected drive. So, I created two password protected accounts "A" and "B" and then there is a shared folder. Now prior to leopard when I was connected I would be able to see the shared folder and my respective folder, "A". Now when I connect I only see the share drive. This is a problem because I have two users in my household and I want to back information to each respective accounts/password protected folders but that is not happening because all we see is the shared folder.
What I saw prior on my drive connected to AEBS. A "SHARED" folder, "USERS" folder which contained the separate folders/accounts created through AEBS.
Now all I see is the "SHARED" folder.

Connectionspeed between TimeCapsule and AirPort Express

just a short question:
I'am having a TimeCapsule 4. Gen which provides my 5 GHz wifi. Because i've a very poor connection in the garden and on the terrace, i've extended the wifi with a Airport Express. The Airport Express gets a very strong signal from the TimeCapsule and i'am connected with 300Mbit/s to the Express, if Timemachine starts a backup to the TimeCapsule, it is very slow and takes a looooot of time. If i go near the TimeCapsule and starts a backup, it's lightning fast.
Is it possible that the internal connection between TimeCapsule and Express doesn't go thru 5GHz?

The Airport Express has several modes in which it can work - as a base station, as a wireless access point on a cabled network, as a wireless client on an existing network, or as a relay or remote base station in a wireless distribution system.
A few points to keep in mind, which should answer your questions:
1. Regardless of mode, the Airport Express can always be used for iTunes streaming.
2. When used as a wireless client on an existing wireless network, the Airport Express ethernet port is disabled.
3. When used as a remote base station in a wireless distribution system, the Airport Express ethernet port is enabled.

Airport Extreme (last generation) and Airport disk

does anyone know if one can do airport disk with a last generation (802.11g) AEBS?

Afraid not. The USB port on that generation is for printer share only.
