Conflict between XP SP3 and Boot Camp 2.1 (exe file)

I have to install a version of XP bought as OEM with a MacBook Pro in late 2008. The Windows install CD is XP WITH SP3, but when I install this, I can't install BootCamp 2.1, because this exe file has to be installed BEFORE an SP3 upgrade. And I can't install the 2.1 when there is no Windows XP on the machine, because this is an exe file. And the BootCamp assistent is version 2.0 after I have upgraded to the latest version of Leopard. Can anyone help me?

I am having this same exact problem with a pre-installed purchase from Macmall. Can anyone please help with this question? I have xp sp3 pre-installed through Parallels but can not install the xp sp3 via Bootcamp because xp sp2 was never installed. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • WinXP SP3 and Boot Camp 2.1 | Win BSOD ATI card not correct!

    Configuration:
Loaded and OEM WinXP SP3 on an iMac with Boot Camp V2.0. All worked correctly.
Immediately after Boot Camp 2.0 completed installed Boot Camp V2.1. All worked correctly.
    Problem:
Working in Windows the OS triggered a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) after the OS was up for approximately 10 minutes. This was a repeatable problem.
    Investigation:
Downloaded Windows DeBug utility to analyze the crash dump files from the BSODs. For reference on how to read the Windows dmp files and how to use Windows DeBug utility see the following link.
    http://www.networkworld.com/news/2005/041105-windows-crash.html
Determined that the fault was caused by a driver file ati2mtag.sys.
Checked the version with the latest availble from the manufacturer ATI. It was the most recent version
    Analysis:
In Windows right click on My Computer, go to Properties.
Go to the Hardware tab in Properties, and then to the Device Manager, drop down the Display adapters. The model shown was a Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT!
This is WRONG, the video card in this iMAC is a ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro.
    Conclusion:
Windows and or Boot Camp loaded the incorrect video drivers for the video card.
    Solution:
    1. Download and install Dot Net 2.0 because the ATI driver installer requires this level to install required drivers. The download is available at the following link.
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD -AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en
    2. Go to ATI driver support page and download the latest Catalyst driver for 32-bit XP.
    http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp
    3. After download, launch the installer, just proceed with the installer until it gets to the point where it pops up an error message saying that the installer could not find a suitable driver for your hardware.
    4. Close out the installer and right click on My Computer, go to Properties.
    5. Go to the Hardware tab in Properties, and then to the Device Manager, drop down the Display adapters, and you should see Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT, this is incorrect.
    6. Right click on the video card and choose Update Driver, you will be now see a Hardware Update Wizard.
    7. It says Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software? Select No, not this time, and click Next... Now you should see What do you want wizard to do? Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and click Next.... On the next page select Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install, click Next....
    8. On the lower right corner of the Wizard, Have Disk... Now click Browse and go to C: > ATI > Support > Driver, and select the inf file in there, click Open.
    9. Scroll through to locate and then select ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro, and install that, you might get a message saying this driver isn't certified, ignore it and continue.
    10. After completion, reboot.
My system is now running correctly, no more BSOD's!

hmm, is it possible that the same problem of the imac is mine on the macpro with 2 ati 2600 cards?
from where do you know that the recginized xt card is wrong and it must the pro version? cause of the 256mb to 512mb at the offical xt version?
plz take a look at my problem thread:

  • Can I share an exFAT partition between OS X and Boot Camp?

I've just installed Windows 8.1 through Boot Camp on OS X 10.9.3. Now I want to create an extra exFAT partition in order to share data between the two OSs. Can I do so using the Disk Utility in OS X? Can Windows recognise this new partition?
    Thanks.
    iMac 21.5-inch Late 2013
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.3, Windows 8.1
    1TB HDD

I've got 2 storage partitions, bootcamp and OSX running on the same machine, internally i.e. all on the same drive. A total of 5 partitions, if you include the 200MB EFI partition.
    Guide:
Attempting to edit partitions in OSX will break Bootcamp. Make sure to edit partitions in Windows. I used Partition Wizard (PW), I recommend you use it, Window's default partition editor is pretty nasty.
Before you start, it's best to have the empty space you want to use for your new partition AFTER the Bootcamp partition. So create your NTFS Win8 partition with lots of space so you can shrink it later. After you've got Bootcamp set up with the free space you're going to use for your FAT partition as part of your NTFS Win8, you're ready to go.
Shrink your Bootcamp partition with PW and then create however many partitions you like in the filesystem you need. Pretty straightforward
I'm running Win8.1 and OSX with my partitions in this order: OSX, Win8.1 (Bootcamp), 10GB Storage Partition (NTFS),  90GB Storage Partition (FAT32). All my partitions are accessible by both OSes.
exFAT is basically the same as FAT32 except you can have file sizes greater than 4GB.
    System: MBP Retina 13" (Late 2013) 8/256GB

Boot Camp makes it possible to run Windows, but you still need to buy Windows.

  • Problems with Windows XP SP3 in Boot Camp

    Hi,
I have recently received a 21.5" iMac; it is the higher-end of the 21.5" standard configurations. The problems I am having, I believe, specifically relate to drivers.
Firstly, I get no sound whatsoever in Windows XP SP3 (boot camp); I have tried removing and reinstalling the drivers from the Snow Leopard install disc, but no success. I have no yellow question marks in the device manager window, but the absence of audio still persists.
Secondly, I cannot gain access to the special functions of the Apple wireless keyboard in Windows XP SP3 via Boot Camp. Again, I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but no success. I have read an Apple support document which states that the keys are only supported on late 2009 Macs; I own one of these Macs, so that cannot be the problem.

  • Lion - Windows XP (SP3) with Boot Camp

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro with Lion on it and would like to install Windows XP (SP3) with Boot Camp, but the instructions only mention Windows 7... do I need to buy Windows 7 or can I run Windows XP anyway?

    pietrofromlondon wrote:
that would be a costly option... I got 4 giga and will stick to it, I mainly use 2D, but 3D from time to time too... that's why I thought about boot camp rather than Parallels. Will try to get Windows 7 unless you think it's a bad idea.... By the way, how much space would you allow the partition for windows?
Not really costly at all, 8GB of RAM is currently $51 from www.macsales.com (OWC) and Fusion is $49 retail so for $100 you have an elegant solution. Much less expensive than buying WIndows 7.
Also you can partition as much space as you want, how much you need is 100% dependent on how much you use.

  • How to update xp to sp3 on boot camp partition

I am running Windows XP via boot camp (only to use cad drawing program) Each time I try to update windows to SP3 I get the message that I have not got enough memory to do this ( or the update crashes and then uninstalls SP3 )The boot camp partition is 34 Gb as default  The Imac has 3gb ram with a 320 hard drive memory what do I need to do to update to SP3 in order for bit defender 2012 to run
I have virtually nothing on the boot camp partition apart from the cad programme which I do not think is very big

Anything non-essential connected during the update ?
Like external harddisk, printer, scanner, etc.
If so, disconnect prior to starting the update.
Run a CHKDSK http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/c hkdsk.mspx?mfr=true before attempting the next update.
    Maybe some error turns up.

  • Enabling 'File Sharing' on my Mac allows my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp to be visible and writeable on my home network. How can I turn this off, so that only folders/files I share are visible?

So I've been trying recently to get my MacBook Pro connected to my home network. There are two other desktop computers in the household, and I'd like to be able to connect to their shared folders, as well as allow them to access shared items on my MacBook Pro. I think I've read all the documentation regarding this issue on the Apple Support site. I do have administrator privileges on my Windows 7 computer.
Issues connecting from PC to Mac
A couple of days ago, I enabled SMB File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, and in addition to the already shared Public folder, I added another that resides within Movies. Then I went to my Windows 7 PC, and under Network, my MacBook Pro appeared. I double-clicked on it (I cannot remember if I was asked to enter my Mac user credentials; I think I was), and I saw the two shared folders: Public, and the Movies folder.
However, today I went back to my Windows 7 PC, accessed my MacBook Pro, entered username and password, and in addition to the two shared folders, both my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp HD appeared as shared folders, both fully writable. However, under File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, only the two shared folders (Public and Movies) appear in the Shared Folders list.
How can I prevent my Mac from sharing my entire partitions? How can I configure it so thatonly the folders I select to share are actually broadcasted across my home network? Also, it would be ideal if I can access these shared folders from my Windows 7 PC without having to enter my Mac user credentials.
Issues connecting from Mac to PC
I have a user account on my Windows 7 PC with the same name as my Mac, but with no password. When I try to connect to my PC from my Mac, the enter credentials dialogue pops up and asks me to either log-in as a Guest, or enter my User credentials.
The Guest account is disabled on Windows 7, and I assume that's I'm not able to log in as Guest (if it is possible to connect as a Guest without having to enable the Guest account on Windows 7, please let me know). Leaving the password field blank on the enter credentials dialogue tells me that it's incorrect (even though I don't have a password on my Windows 7 account).
Is it possible to access shared files and folders on my Windows 7 PC from my Mac without having to create a password protected account? If not, is it possible to create a password for the sake of accessing shared files, while not requiring it to log in to the account? I'm sorry, I know this last bit more falls under the category of Windows Help.

Sharing files from a Mac to a PC is a different animal.  I've never done it myself so you may want to repost a separate question on this topic.
From what I understand, in order to access files from a Mac on a PC, you must log in using your Mac username and password (no anonymous file sharing).  Since this is not very desirable from a security standpoint, Apple recommends creating a separate user account on the Mac that is dedicated to file sharing.  Give that account access only to the files/folders you want to share.  You can then give that user account name and password to your Windows users.

  • Windows 7 64 and Boot Camp

I installed 64-bits Windows 7 on my iMac 24 (end 2007) and it works perfectly. The only problem is the the Boot Camp drivers cannot be installed. (Snow Leopard disk).
Somewhere I have read that the Boot Camp drivers are not compatible with the 64-bit version on this iMac.
    What shall I do now?
    I also have a 32-bit version.

I don't see any help in those links.
What works for most, other than some of the issues with quality of Apple's drivers and graphic driver issue... the whole idea that somehow a Mac from 2007 isn't officially endorsed as supported, and Boot Camp 3.0 drivers are over a year old; came out before Windows 7 was out (but end of public RC phase).
which hinges on the Mac's firmware being EFI32 instead of UEFI 2.x (EFI64).
Copy the whole contents to a folder on your Windows volume.
    Navigate to Apple\Drivers\Bootcamp64
control + click on that file and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility Mode"
    (or you can change Properties)
And you will then be able to overcome the "incompatible" error message and have them install
I have a 2006 Mac Pro also on the "endangered species list" as well.
Windows 64-bit versions from SP1 or later officially support UEFI, but that has not meant PCs couldn't install and use Windows 64-bit either.

    hi
my canon video camera (HV20) wasnt being recognised by iMovie (error message...in system report was "Unable to list FireWire devices".)
in researching a solution i came across some firewire advice in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1151#trouble which suggests there may be a "software conflict between the device and something in your original user account."
i changed to another account on my iMac and my camera connected immediately.
is anybody able to explain how i go about fixing this "software conflict".
    many thanks

With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
The Outbox.mbox represents "Out" in the mailboxes drawer and is shared by all accounts.
Delete the Outbox.mbox and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the Mailboxes folder and this should resolve the problem.

  • How do I remove partitions "PV2" and "Boot Camp"?

I tried installing Windows 7 in Boot Camp and lost power during install. I want to completely start over but have partitions "PV2" and "Boot Camp" that I can't seem to remove. I have tried to remove partitions in Disk Utility but everything is grayed out. Boot Camp Assistant says "The disk appears to have been partitioned by another utility and can't be removed."

When I boot to recovery (Command+R) it gives me four options: Restore with Time Machine Backup, Reinstall OS X, Get Help Online, and Disk Utility. I am assuming I should erase the drives usings Disk Utility. I am able to select the PV2 and Boot Camp but when I select the "partition" tab the +/- buttons on the bottom is grayed out. I am not sure how exactly to "erase the entire drive." If you couldn't tell, I am a novice imac owner. I did make a backup using Time Machine earlier today.

At startup hold down the Option/Alt key and from the screen that comes up select your OS X partition to start the computer from. Then use the Boot Camp Assistant app to Remove Windows and the partition you reated for it and it will Automatically place the space you allocated for the Windows install back into the OS X partition.
    NOTE:
Do NOT use Disk Utility to erase the partition that was created for the Windows install. Use the Boot Camp Assistant app again to do that.

  • Conflict Between Bluetooth Mouse and WIFI?

I Bought the new MBPR X72 and a Iogitech Bluetooth Mouse. When i download something by Wifi,My mouse can't work well.I search the answer on Google, some people said that there is a conflict between Bluetooth mouse and Wifi.Because they are both use the 2.4G HZ.So anyone can help me ??

If you are on your home network, you could set the router and MBPr to use only the 5 GHz band if you are using the n-protocol WiFi.  That would mean logging intothe router and changing band usage settings.  The MBPr would follow what it sees as the wireless signal.

  • Version conflicts between host labview and RT engine

there is problem that i cannt switch target to feild point. It said that "version conflicts between host labview and RT engine" . But my labview is version 7.0 and the real time module is version 7.0 too. Anyone can give me hand? Thanks

Depending on your version of MAX, you should be able to change the version on the FP (in remote systems). If you can't do it in 3.0, try upgrading to 3.1 (you will have to search for it on the site). If that doesn't work, you can try resetting to factory default and then see if you can do this.
Another tip, which for some reason seems to help, is updating the OS\Run-Time Engine when windows is in safe mode.
Try these and see if they help.
BTW, as a tip for next time, you're more likely to get a good answer for something like this if you post in the FieldPoint board.
