Conflict resolver & my 16000 contact cards (I had 6000 only)

I went from 6000 to 16000 contact cards when enabled sync with gmail & yahoo! (yes, I used the conflict resolver every time).
I cant find any application, comment or whatever on software that really helps resolving conflicts...
You guys know a software that deals with this?

seems unrelated as all issues stem from syncing of accounts over networks, and at some point in their problem descriptions there is some actual prompt that notifies the user of conflicts to be resolved.. all I noticed was my iStat menu bar was filled to the brim for memory usage..
opened iSync (which I used for my previous phone over 3 years ago, and have never used on this computer) and removed the old device from the history and cleared the sync history. I've got another phone and an ipod touch to update in the next few days, if something pops up I'll document it here.

Conflict Resolver Sync Error - Unable to retrieve conflict information from the sync server

So I have been using iTunes with my iPhone 3GS and now my iPhone 4 to sync with my Outlook for many years now and it has been flawless.
I recently bought a new iPad and started syncing it as well.
Now as of late, after every 2 or 3 syncs, I get an error from iTunes displaying the Conflict Resolver and it says there are 42 sync conflicts.
When I try use the Review Now button it shows up and the issues are between my iPhone and Outlook and are only related to contacts.
As soon as I try to choose which record to resolve, the window immediately disappears without giving me a chance to finish and I get another dialog window with the error:
Unable to retrieve conflict information from the sync server.
Please try again the next time the conflict resolver window is presented.
When I try to sync again it seems to be fine. But then after I sync my iPad and theny iPhone again it shows up and it still won't let me resolve the conflicts.
I have tried the following:
1) Rest Sync History on all devices
2) I have had iTunes replace all the contacts on the iPad from iTunes
3) I have changed the conflict resolver to only notify when 50% of the data will be changed
I have had no such luck.
If I add a contact to Outlook or to my iPhone and then sync it seems to be syncing the new addtions correctly. However, I cannot get this issue with this 42 conflicts resolved for some reason. This has been going on for a month now.

Here is the solution.
Rationale: You want to be able to have the dates on your items (notes, contacts) on your iphone to be the same as on outlook. This will eliminate any sync conflicts. You will also notice that if you modify something on the iphone and sync, you will lose the modification you made.
Steps:
1) In outlook, export the data (contacts, notes) to a CSV file
2) Delete you notes/contacts in outlook
3) Sync your iphone and select replace information on this iPhone (in iTunes)
4) Now your contacts and notes will be empty on both your iPhone and Outlook
5) Now import your contacts and notes from the CSV files back into outlook. What this does is put the current date and time on every individual item
6) Sync your iPhone to iTunes normally
7) everything will work correctly now with no sync issues and no conflicts.

Frustration with Address Book - Not Allowing Copy/Paste of Contact Card

Has anyone found a work-around for copy/paste of an entire contact card in Address Book? Address Book used to allow you highlight and copy all of the content of a contact v-card. Since Snow Leopard released (including the 10.6.2 update), it only allows you to highlight and copy one line at a time. That is a dramatic reduction in productivity -- a lot like the dysfunctional nature of Outlook's contact manager. Any work-arounds that don't involve export/import to other programs?

I believe I responded in the previous posting that the work-around did not resolve the problem. The effort that it takes to implement your suggestion takes more time than it would be to cut/paste individual lines or just retype the data. Again, the purpose is to make/have efficient work flow, not complicated tasks which had simple solutions at one point in time. And since a majority of the people reading support threads are less familiar than you might be with prospective automation and programming tasks with the OSX, maybe I should have simply stated that the function is "broke" and should be "fixed".

Conflict Resolver not resolving conflicts

My iPhone and iPod Touch calendars keep conflicting with each other and with my MacBook calendar. Specifically, 1) repeating events with differing exceptions (e.g., weeks in which a repeating meeting doens't happen) from device to device, and 2) "all-day" events that want to end at 12:00 on one device and at 00:00 on another.
I have repeatedly given instructions for which of the two data sets I prefer to use, yet they keep coming back.
Is there a way to fix this? Or, do I simply have to delete the item from one of the devices?

Conflicts are normally resolved at the record level automatically by the Sync Services framework. You cannot invoke the Conflict Resolver itself, which normally appears only when the framework cannot resolve a discrepancy at the field level in what otherwise appear to be identical records.
Motorola contact records may represent a special case, which is discussed in this technical note:

Editing an existing contact on a Motorola phone may create duplicate Address Book entries. After creating a contact on your Motorola phone, then syncing, you later edit the contact name on the phone. On the next sync, the old contact name and new contact name may be displayed as separate contacts in Address Book (in Mac OS X).

Solution
To avoid this situation, edit existing contact names on the computer, not the phone.
To resolve duplicate entries, you can use the Merge Selected Cards feature in Address Book in Mac OS X before syncing again.

Double-clicking on Sender name to view full contact card

Just upgraded to Outlook 2013 with Lync 2013, and so far I hate it. In Outlook 2007, when I opened an email I could double-click on the sender's name and pull up its full contact card with all of the information that I had entered before, including
their picture or company logo. Now in the 2013 version, I get some light-weight pop-up showing some of the sender's info and either no picture or the picture that they included in Lync. Is there any way of restoring the full contact card? Also,
is there any way to get the Reading Pane to show by default the picture that I assigned to that contact?

When I click on the sender's name in an email, it opens the Outlook Properties dialog instead of the full contact editing form.

Conflict Resolver issues need solution

I use Entourage 2008 (BOO!) as my main calendar/AB/notes/task manager and I used to sync it with iCal to always have a current calendar just in case I encountered one of those microshaft problems.
Occasionally the Conflict Resolver pops up with numerous conflicts and I always choose "use Entourage to resolve" -- which would always end up creating duplicate events in the calendar which I had to go in and manually delete. I got tired of this so I turned off syncing in iCal.
Today, I opened iCal after a few weeks (as I don't manually enter info into it) and I got conflicts. I wound up with who knows how many dupes, so I just restored up to the last file I backed up using iCal and then manually deleted the dupes it created for this month.
I prefer to be able to sync between iCal and Entourage since it is easier for me to print out events using iCal in Daily or List views -- which I do frequently because I need any notes to print out and Entourage appears not to have this ability, like Outlook did -- or maybe it's hidden and I got tired of looking for the thing I need to tick in order for the notes to print.
So getting back on track here --- is there any way to turn off this conflict resolution so that I can change the iCal prefs back to syncing between both calendars because it would be a real pain to enter info into two calendars when Entourage can automatically place it into iCal.
I'd been using this function since Office 2004 and I think I only had the conflict resolver come up once, so who knows --- it might be a 2008 issue??? Leave it to microshaft to cause problems.

I just turned the function back on, and since getting the iPhone 3G a few months back, haven't really had to deal with problems as before. I basically just modified Entourage the last time the CR popped up, d/l something called iCal Dupe Deleter, so that way I don't have to scan iCal -- and it's all good, for now ;-]

Contact card in mac messages not showing picture

One of my contacts in Messages on Yosemite just shows the initials instead of their contact picture.
When I click on the name in the right pane in Messages, I can select "Show Contact Card".
The Contact Card also shows the initials in place of the contact image.
In the contact card, I click Open With Contacts.
The Contacts app opens and shows me the user's address book card, which shows the contact has a picture assigned.
The user in Messages is referred to by their email address *****@aol.com.
The email address and phone number for this user do not have duplicate entries in my contacts.
Other users do not have this issue.

The user had more than one instance of the same email. Apparently that confused Messages. When I removed one of them, the image showed just fine as expected.

Link Messages 'My Picture' to the image in my Contact Card

I recently installed a new SSD into my MacBook thus I did a fresh install of OS X Mountain Lion (and applied any updates). I opened Messages and sent a message, but noticed that the Avatar used for myself was the same image I selecting when setting MacBook up (Guitar Avatar). If I recall, before doing the fresh install, Messages was using what Picture I had set in my Contacts Card ('me'). Should this be the case by default? I am sure this what I saw before reinstalling ML.
Can one link the Message picture to that of ones own Contact Card?

It is not strange.
It is about which Pic you chose when and in which order.
If you don't change the Addresss Book (Contacts) My Card pic it will default, on a fresh Install, to the Mac User Account one.
Messages will do the same (even if you change the Contacts one) it will default to the Contacts List one if you don't set one in Messages.
You can in fact be using three different Pics.

Ok....so I have found a work around....if not a complete solution.
I'm not sure if deleting your music, uninstalling ITunes and reinstalling and adding your music back will actually affect it but I tried it again. Started from scratch.
I checked the box for "Manually manage music and videos"
Then I moved my music to phone via drag and drop, usually just boxing a row of albums at a time.
I went back into my Iphone and began the sync. The message popped up, "1 Item could not be synced" and the sync stopped. At that point, I just clicked sync again and it started back up again. It took a few go's but eventually I got all my music on my phone.
Ironically enough, the only songs that wouldn't sync were songs that I had actually purchased from Itunes....kinda odd

What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike? I've been having to key in changes to both devices because sync doesn't sync.

If you really are running Mac OS X 10.7.5 and iOS 6.1.3, you should be able to sync through iTunes, but in current releases you need to use a central contact service like iCloud.
Did you have it working and then not working, or have you never had it working?
Are you trying to use iTunes, iCloud, or something else?

Can't add Custom Image to Contact Card

Just upgraded to Snow Leopard. Noticed that when making up a new contact card, I can't just drop an image (somebody's face) into the Custom Image box anymore. The box lights up -- highlighted in blue -- but it won't accept the image. Any ideas?

Similarly, I'm on 10.6.2. Since Snow Leopard came out, I have been unable to add/edit any "Custom Images" in my Address Book entries. Everyone in my AB is stuck with the image they had in my Leopard Address Book. Looks like there's several threads on this, but no great (i.e. Apple-fixed0 solution I've seen so far.
What does work for me now is:
1. going to the Finder,
2. select the Address Book application (make sure the app isn't running),
3. Get Info
4. Select the "Open in 32-bit mode" checkbox
5. Open the Address Book app, and begin editing images

Lync 2013 mobile client can't see all fields in contact card

We have deployed Lync 2013 infra in our organization, now we observed, mobile Lync client users are not able to see other users mobile number on contact card rest all information is visible.
Is there any workaround or fix to resolve this issue. Appreciate quick help.

That's effectively by design (but a popular complaint). The workaround is to put the users who's mobile numbers you need in your Outlook contact list. There's another workaround related to setting the privacy relationship, but you have to coordinate
it with many people which is not too feasible.

OK, my wife thought it would be a good idea to link her FB account to my phone and it changed my contact card picture, name and birthday. I have since removed her FB account and have removed picture and birthday but I can seem to remove her name. I enter mine under edit and when I save and go back it shows her name in the middle of mine. I even synced my FB and still didn’t work. Any clues on how to remove/fix my contact card?

If your TB contacts are linked to Google contacts make the changes in Google. There is a box with 3 ... to the side of name, click that box and see what the name looks like. Edit the name and changes should be made on HTC. That's what worked for me when I had a name that I could not get changed by editing on the HTC. If your using BA I would think the same thing could be done.

On a MacBook Air is it possible to transfer the photos shown on Faces to my Contact cards and thus to my iPhone5?

I'm new at this so please bear with me. I had photos on each of my contacts at one time but have no idea how I got them there. I would like to move the little square photos from Faces to my Contact cards but cannot seem to figure out how to do it. There are icons for moving photos to almost anywhere but Contacts. I always try dragging first because that was once the answer to every problem but so far it hasn't worked. I also wanted to know if there is a setting to have the iPhone show the photo of the person calling so I know who it is without my readers on. Yes, you got it..........I am aged and perhaps a little slow with this stuff but I'm still trying'!

I am able to drag photos from iPhoto to Contacts on my MacBook Air. I resize the iPhoto window to make it smaller, open Contacts, select the Contact in question and click the Edit button at the lower right of the contact. I then drag the photo from iPhoto.
The step that I'm guessing that you might be missing is clicking the Edit button at the lower right of the contact.

Mispelled name appears in Contact card hover pop up

this is outlook 2010
I created a new active directory user account for Anne   but left the "e" off of couse she wants that E
so we renamed her user account and put the E back in..........
but we notice that on her emails doesnt matter if her email address in is the to, or from , it now is spelled correctly BUT if you mouse hovers over those that darn "contact card" pop up comes
up and still only says ANN not ANNE
how do I correct this ??    thanks

Ok folks thanks for the help.... everything is now updated and "most stuff" is now correct but here is what still needs fixed when examining her account ( account settings --> change) in the change account window where it shows
server settings..... in the "Type the user name for your account" field it still says ANN (last name comma first) still says Ann not Anne
all the email stuff is now correct even when seeing the Mouse Over Hover Card......... EXCEPT when she prints out an email
when she prints one ,     her name is still ANN   you know how you get a thick black line with your name at the top of the printed email page (like a header ?    ) ...up there she still gets ANN
where is that being pulled from?? is that linked to this User name field the server setting window ?? and if all has now need updated in my Ad and on the exchage side..then why does this files never changed ??
As an experiment yesterday I had the exchange admin change my name and that change was reflected everywhere   ( like in the GAL)   but for me also , the username field in the server setting window never changed and
if I print an email is still says the old name not the new one
so I am now looking for advice on getting her name correct when prining out emails
