"Norton tells me that the Windows Tech Preview is no good and tryed to remove it..but it failed,so I am using it anyway...lol I like the Cortana feature ,it's great...how do you find out how much "Cortana Knows? has there been many complaints with

Is Version 6 compatible with Norton Security Suite from Comcast?

I have had previous compatibility problems using the Norton Security Suite from Comcast after installing a new version of Firefox. Are there any known issues with Version 6? I'd like to know before I install the new version. I have a PC running XT.

Only if the Comcast "deal" with Norton is directing you to the download or updating you to the newest Norton version. The Norton toolbar that gets installed into Firefox was made compatible with Firefox 6 on the day that Firefox 6 was released.

Firefox will not work with norton security suite... when is the fix going to be available?

since upgrading to firefox 5.0 I have not been able to use norton security suite....
I was told that it would be upgraded to work in a couple months.... It has been more that that...

Firefox 5.0 was released 4 weeks ago tomorrow, not a "couple of months ago".
I have heard that Norton released an update patch for Firefox 5.0 on Tuesday 06-21 when Firefox 5.0 was released. ''(versus taking their normal six to eight weeks)'' Some Norton users have reported that the toolbar may not work if the Norton patch was installed before Firefox 5.0, instead if after Firefox 5.0 was already installed.

Conflict with Norton 360 Identity protection

When i downloaded Firefox 4.0, there was a conflict. When I used it and tried using Norton 360 Identify Protection, Norton IP did not work.

Blackberry Desktop Software conflicts with Norton 2009

I bought a new Blackberry Pearl 8110 and tried to install the Blackberry Desktop Software on my Dell XPS 420 using Windows Vista. I installed it and when I rebooted my computer, my Norton Internet Security 2009 went crazy & it said that my Norton subscription had expired, even though I still had 391 days left on my subscription and all of my settings were off and disabled. The Symantec Tech. tried to fix my Norton twice & I told him it was fine until I installed the Blackberry Software - so I uninstalled the software and the Norton went back to normal. Do I actually need the Desktop Software or will my phone be fine without it? I want to add Music, Ringtones, Pictues & update my Calendar, can I just do that on my phone? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I have Desktop Manager 4.7 (without the media files as Roxio takes too long to load) and Norton Internet Security 2009 and all works just fine. Just for your reference.

Conflict with Norton antivirus 2

I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card installed in my system, and except for stuttering whenever I upgrade to Media Player 0 (which I will address in another thread) it worked fine until I uprgaded from NAV 2003 to 2005. I read somewhere that if you disable all available options for creative under mconfig (i.e CTSysVol, CTDVDDET,CTHELPER & RCMan , the problem will be solved. I would like to know if this is the only option, and if so, what functionality is lost by taking this drastic step.

Try uninstalling all your Norton applications and follow by cleansweep your sound card software/driver. The steps to cleansweep your sound card can be found with this Knowledgebase article.

After you have done both, install the sound card driver/application first using the installation CD. Ensure that the sound card is functioning fine. After which, install your Norton software.

Desktop Software Conflict with Webroot Security

Anybody having issues with Webroot Internet Security Essentials causing the new v6.0.0.11 of BB Desktop Software to CRASH and freeze the darn computer??? I can only run the update with Webroot turned off, despite telling the Firewall in Webroot that the RIM software is allowed.
Of course, contacting RIM on this is impossible so does anybody have a solution???

I'm a big fan of AVG and I also use the Desktop Manager, however, I haven't experienced your specific issue. Ensure that you are using the newest version of the AVG and BB DM software and see if it resolved the issue.
Also do you get any errors that you can provide to us?

Recovery Partition conflict with Norton Go Back

Hi - I recently installed norton system works which includes Go Back, and since then the hard drive indicator on my Satellite has been working overtime, causing the fan to be on almost full time. I contacted Symantec who said that if my Toshiba has a recovery partition pre-installed it would not be possible to run Go Back over the top of it. Can anyone advise if Tosh laptops have a pre-installed recovery partition? Has anyone else had this problem? Or is it perhaps that recovery software like Go Back does cause extra work on the poor old hard drive and that this activity is quite normal. I'm tempted to simply disable the Go Back.

Hi Matt,
As I understand it Norton GoBack works by creating a safe area on your hard drive into which it writes a copy of every update or change that is made to the contents of your hard drive. The idea of this is to allow you to 'undo' any update or change that you make by copying the data back again. This is very similar in priciple to the Windows Restore utility although it is somewhat more extensive in its scope.
As you have discovered already, this will lead to an increase in the amount of hard drive activity.
Unless you have a particular need to use this option I would recommend that a policy of regularly backing up your system (say weekly) would be a better option (using Norton Ghost or an equivalent product).
Norton GoBack is proably better suited to users who have a high rate of updates that they wish to be able to restore quickly.

Will my Norton security suite and Norton toolbar work with the new Firefox?

A previous version of Firefox eliminated my Norton toolbar and I had to reload an older version of Firefox to get it back. I have been reluctant to upgrade to newer versions of Firefox because of this issue. Are you now compatible with Norton?

When I was running Firefox 3.6 my Norton security Suite marked each site with a green circle to indicate to me that they felt that the site was safe to go to. They also indicated the sites that they protected with a yellow rectangle.
When I switched to Firefox 4.0 those markers no longer appear.
Really would like to have that sense of security back.

Absolutely not! Mozilla has no specific requirements as to which security program should be used with Firefox. If you are happy with what comes with Windows 7, keep using it. If you aren't, I think you should consider using Avira Personal Free - http://www.free-av.com/. That is my current choice and has been for that last 3 years.
I have access to a free version of Norton every "back to school" sales season, and my only use for those CD's is as a frisbee-like toy.

I have been trying to download After Effects CC and I'm wondering if Norton Security Software could interfere?

it's not the browser differences per say. it's the browser settings' differences that result in different behavior. at least that's what i think.
i've never had a problem with adobe.com and browsers. but with my main hospital (i'm a doc) has the most ridiculous security set-up to access patient medical records and i see all sorts of differences between ie and ff. but i have no idea what causes the differences.
at home, i cannot use ff to login but i can use ie. at my office, i cannot use ie but i can use ff. and both browsers have the same settings/addons at home and at my office.
