Conflicts with Windows XP

I have an apparent conflict between iTunes (ver. 6.0.1.3)and Windows XP. With iTunes installed my keyboard occasionally jumps to all caps. The caps light does not come on. Pressing the shift key will allow typing lower case letters but not lower case symbols and numbers. Furthermore, the computer pointer will no longer highlight single items but rather only blocks of text or multiple icons. A restart will return the computer to normal operations – until the next episode. I can find no other pattern of operation that causes this to occur. Anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi everyone -- can anyone come up with an answer?
when i press the itunes icon, nothing happens -- it simply doesn't show up, no error message appears.
one thing seemed to help - using MSCONFIC to troubleshoot conflict in windows. however, as soon as i opened my internet browser, the itunes quit and won't open again.

i've seen that symptom hit people before with a Qoologic adware infestation on the PC. (some variants of that snuggle into IE as a browser helper object, and opening IE reactivates the adware and reactivates the error-message-free itunes launch suppression.)

Conflict With Windows Vista?

Please help me. This is truly, truly awful.
I got a new computer AMD Athlon 64x X2 Dual Core, 2.4GHz.
It came with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I installed Adobe Flash Professional 8.
I have Windows XP at home and Flash 8 works just fine.
On this computer, ANY movie clip I double-click on takes
f..o..r..e..v..e..r to update the screen. Excruciatingly slow.
If you notice when you double-click a movieclip Flash makes
an animation of a dashed box zoom up from the clip to make it look
as if you are zooming into the movie clip -- well I watch that
dashed rectangle slowly, slowly expand till it fills the whole
screen. Only then will Flash resume normally. It expands in slow
chunky movements.
Strangely enough, if I click on a movie clip in the library -
no problems. It opens up almost immediately.
I've tried this with new files, old files, sample files. All
the same.
Either Windows or Flash hates something about that 'zooming
into a movie clip' animation. It hates backing out of them too. I
get the dashed box when I go back to the main timeline as well.
This is just devastating. There is no way I can use Flash
like this.
Any suggestions welcome.
I've already shut down every background program I thought was
interfering. I've already reinstalled. (The uninstall took a
bizarrely long time to do its thing. Could I have a bad copy?) I've
kept a processor meter running whilst the problem occurred and the
processor isn't sweating it at all. So what's the problem!?
I was tech support for years, but here I'm completely at a
loss.
And trying to google 'problems flash 8 slow opening movie
clip' is obviously useless.

ago - try searching - i cant remember the
solution and i dont have vista.

Fireworks MX v6 conflict with Windows 7

Hi All..
I'm still using my old Fireworks MX ver 6 (waiting for CS 5!), and I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 on it. (Windows 7 is great!, by the way)
Dreamweaver and Fireworks are both having issues with the Toolbar. I can reopen the program for a temporary fix, but it goes haywire again within maybe 20 commands. Also, in DW, I cannot create a new table from the graphic interface (I can do it in HTML, of course). Is there a fix for these things? I have been unsuccessful in finding support for this old program. It is from before the Macromedia and Adobe marriage.

Its an odd one.
The only two work arounds that I've found are to snap Fireworks to the right hand half of the screen. - The icons won't work if snapped to the left hand side.
Or
Search the internet for a list of keyboard shortcuts and operate it that way - they actually speed you up after a while.

Conflict with Windows Media Player for Mac

I´ve installed parallel desktop on my mac (MacBook Pro), then Windows so I can run a PC only program. The conflict is this: When I want to play a video on WMP (for mac), for example: when I receive an email with a video clip to be played and I double click it, Parallel Desktop starts up automaticaly to play it on windows. I´ve right clicked and tried to specify that WMP on my mac should be the one to open videos by default; but it´s not working, or I´m doing something wrong.
Any wisdom? Thanks in advance.

select a .wmv file and enter command+i. in the resulting popup go to "open with" section, select the default application you want (not a Windows Media player for Mac which is extinct) to use and click "change all". see if it sticks now.

Bridge(CS3) conflict with Windows file explorer

Bridge will crash on me at least twice a day. I use Bridge and Windows file explorer simultaneously copying and moving files across a network. When Bridge quits I sometimes lose my network connection and have a lot of trouble re-connecting.
I have done the usual delete preference, trash cache etc., nothing seems to be working.

Not sure what is going on there, but have a suggestion. You are increasing your odds of Bridge crashing, and trashing the cache, if you move too fast. When in Bridge wait for the spinning arrow in lower left corner to stop (it is building the thumbs) before changing folders.
Don't see any correlation between network connection and Bridge crashing. Perhaps if you have a slow computer you are overloading it with tasks and it can not keep up. Minimize programs running at same time.
Also, run task manager and see what the processor is doing. If CPU useage goes up markedly that will confirm the problem.

VLC player plugin conflict with Windows Media Player plugin in Firefox 8.0.1

After I upgraded to Firefox 8.0.1, Windows Media Player stopped playing embedded videos within the Firefox browser.
If you go to Add-ons and disabled VLC player plugin, Firefox will start to plays any Windows Media Player videos without any issue.
The minute I click to enable VLC, Windows Media Player stop working again. This problem is not used to happen in Firefox 6.02.
Please help me with problem. any suggestions will be appreciated.

You can disable the VLC plugin from the Addons window. Choose Plugins, find VLC in the list and disable it.

Does itunes conflict with windows media player?

I am having trouble syncing and ejecting my shuffles from i-Tunes if I have Windows Media Center running? I use Media Center to run a TV tuner but I use i-tunes for all of my other media. I have also found the tuner becomes inaccessable if I have watched a DVD which runs on WMC. I'm wondering if I have to modify the defaults for the program associations...

SB Audigy2 w/Vista: Creative Volume Control conflict with Windows Volume Control(sndvol.ex

Hi Everyone,
I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a SoundBlaster Audigy 2(WDM) card. I have a few no-mind questions about how these things all work together:
. After I installed Creative's Vista driver upgrade for the SB Audigy 2 series, I noticed that there are now two volume control icons in the system tray. One is for the Creative Volume Control. The other is the original Windows Volume Control (sndvol.exe). Should these two controls be running at the same time?
2. The Master Volume is a lot lower in Vista than it was in XP. When I let Vista pick the sound drivers the first time around, I figured the lower volume had something to do with those. So I downloaded and installed the Vista SB Audigy 2 Driver Upgrade from Creative's website. The volume is still very low, however, and I have to peak all my volume controls to hear much of anything. Does anyone have any ideas why this should be so?

N95 device driver conflict with windows Vista Home...

When I connect my N95 to laptop and check in device drivers it comes up with a problem against the N95 mobile phone with the following windows message. windows does not offer a solution to this message either.
Message reads:Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
This may also be the cause of nokia software update not detecting the phone as connected, even though Nokia PC Suite does detect phone?

I have exactly the same problem listed above. I have a n95 and a pc with vista home premium. I cannot sync though pc suite says the n95 is connected. No sync setting appear when I click that button. I cannot update the phone software as it doesn't recognise the phone is connected and the device driver is disabled. I had a 6300 installed so I uninstalled that and it made no difference.

Jdk conflicts with windows commands

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. So i downloaded the latest jdk (6.10) and installed it. Everything went smooth so far. Then i tried compiling a little program from command prompt (javac HelloWorld.java) and i get the <'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.>. I searched a little and found the solution. Setting a new environment variable for the system (in both user variables and system variables: PATH with content=path to containing directory) worked just fine, all java commands work. But then i noticed that 'ping', 'ipconfig' and all other windows commands don't work <'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.>. When deleting the environment variables and rebooting, it's back to square one: win commands work, java commands don't.
Is there a solution to this?
Should i add something that points to the win commands in the PATH value? (can it be done?)

Ok, just added c:\windows\system32 to the PATH value and it seems to work.
Is it safe, or could i stumble across problems later on?

Problems with Adobe Reader in Windows 8. Is there a conflict with Windows 8 Modern Reader.

When I have Adobe Reader 11 installed on my Windows 8 laptop, PDF documents partially download then stop. Removing Adobe Reader ends the problem and allows viewing via Modern Reader. However, I need Adobe Reader to read documents on some websites. Unfortunately when the program has been on the computer for some time the documents stop displaying. Removing and reinstalling the Adobe Reader allows me to view these documents again, for a time, and then the documents stop displaying. Any ideas?

What browser are you using?
Does the same thing happen if you download the PDF docs to your local disk, then open them from there?

MAC (10.6.8) users having permission issues with windows 2003 AD and NetApp SAN environment.

I have created a cifs share that is being accessed by Mac users that are part of a windows 2003 AD. When the user edit data and save it back to the share, the security permission are reset and none of the other users can see the new data unless the permissions are refreshed on the windows server. I have found following links that talk about a similar issue but with an older MAC OS. I am using 10.6.8.

It appears to still affect Mavericks 10.9.5 at least from the lack of any positive reports to the contrary. It is perhaps a bit late but it would have been worth signing up for the public beta of Yosemite and testing that and if needed reporting it as an issue for Yosemite as this will be getting more bug fix attention than Mavericks now.
I would agree turning off de-duplication is not a desirable solution, however other possibilities to consider are installing the standard Samba software on a Mac and using that instead of Apple's SMBx software. This is done by using the SMBup installer See http://eduo.info/2013/07/13/smbup-faq it does not officially list Mavericks but I did see at least one report that it still worked. A second possibility is to install ExtremeZ-IP which installs an AFP server on to your Windows Server and also gives the bonus of supporting Spotlight searches.
Note: You should only try SMBup on a test setup first.

Adobe Reader 11.0.04 incompatible with Windows 7

Downloaded Adobe Reader 11.0.04 it is incapatible with Windows 7 professional (64 bit). When starting the program, it will open for about 2-3 seconds then closes. unable to access the edit tab or other tabs to change settings. already tried with and without anti-virus installed and uninstalled so it is in conflict with Windows 7.
also tried the fix capatibility menu with no luck.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Please try updating Reader to latest 11.0.05.

It will disable the protected mode and then try launching Reader
Note: You should switch "ON" protected mode after verifying the problem. Purpose of Reader XI Protected Mode is to keep your system safe from PDF based exploits and keeping protected mode OFF will leave your system vulnerable.
