Conforming 25fps offline sequence to 50fps online media and maintaining smooth motion effect in FCP7

I am editing something shot at 50fps with the intention of playing it back at 25fps for a smooth motion effect.
the footage is shot on a RED and I have created proxies from REDcineX that have been transcoded to 25. Everything is working fine but it has just occurred to me that when the offline edit is complete I may run in to issues relinking to the original media as it will still be 50fps.
Will the fact that my FCP7 sequence is a 25fps timebase solve this problem or will there be timecode mismatches between the cuts on my 25fps proxies and my 50fps RED quicktime reference files? If there are issues with that, is there a way to solve them?

this doesn't seem like a very common workflow (at least in my experience) so you might not get any responses. Why not do a test with a short sequence with just a couple of shots to see if you're gonna have any problems down the road. It's always a good idea to test your complete workflow before you start editing. In this case, better late than never.

I am moderately experienced with FCE, but cannot figure out this issue. The thumbnails in my browser say "media offline", and no longer show a thumbnail of my video clip. When I try to reconnect the media files, the reconnect dialog box only checks for "online" media. I am able to view and work with the media files in my project even though it says they are offline. This issue seems to occur after a power outage. Its more of an annoyance than anything else, but I would still like to find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Conform from empty sequence

am about to do a conform in a way i have never attempted (copany policy where I am now and it has left me with a few questions)
if was going to conform normally would do nondestructive media management to copy project to other system (and in the process trim clips to shorter duration with handles) before ditching this new media and then recaprturing at online resolution.
at this post house i work in now they will just be provided with a project from a client with a QT to compare against.
when receiving this project (with no media attached) how should I go about conforming it.
Recature from the browser? (will this recapture whole tapes instead of just the clip duration i need?)
recapture from timeline?

Thats the one.
Select the Sequence to conform in the Browser window
Then choose File > Media Manager...
In the Media Manager window select "Make Offline"

How to export a sequence as an AAF without media and then relink in Avid

Just in case it helps anyone else sharing material Avid ←→ PPro....
If I export a sequence as an AAF then it expects me to want to include the media, whereas I don't want to duplicate media.
If I put the AAF in a bin - with a piece of media (I used black) - then it will export just the AAF without media.
Importing this to Avid results in Media Offline - and I could not get normal relinking to find the media (is it possible?).
However using this as a guide I found that I could get the media to relink, having imported the AAF to Avid (and ignored the warnings):
1. AMA link to all the media that is in your Pr sequence in a fresh Avid bin (you'll need to know where that media is)
2. Select all the clips in that bin
3. Go to the offline sequence, right click and select relink
4a. Select radio button that says 'Relink selected items to selected items in all open bins'
4b. Under 'relink by' select 'start' and 'name', check 'ignore extension'
It does require that you haven't renamed any of the clips in your premiere project - that the clip names match the file names.
(In FCP7 there was an option to rename clips to match files OR rename files to match clips.)

There is one drawback to the Copy/New from Clipboard method. It does not pick up all the elements of the chart. It doesn't give you the axis titles, legend, or chart name.
I do this:
1) Print using the Open PDF in Preview setting
2) In Preview, select the chart and whatever surrounding area you want to have with it.
3) Copy
4) New from Clipboard
5) Save in the desired format.
You can often skip steps 4&5 and paste directly into another document if that is where it is headed.

Batch Capture from Offline Sequence

I have some older projects that I need to revisit and since the original capture files are no longer around I told FCP to batch capture the sequence from the original media (actually AVCHD files on folders). However it only brought in about 80% of the footage leaving the remaining 20% offline.
I went to the browser and manually brought those files in - so I managed to recover the sequence in the end, but is there anything I could have done wrong to make it only bring in 'some' rather than 'all' the offline media for a given sequence?

Create a new sequence and delete all the audio in the timeline. This should reduce the amount of media needing to recapture. It still may show a time larger than the length of your sequence. Even with out handles. Not sure why.
Also, make sure all the clips have timecode and a reel number. It won't deleted the unused portions if it doesn't have it.

HP AIO Remote shows wireless printer offline when it is online and can print to it.

HP AIO Remote installed on my Windows 8.1 Yoga 2 shows my wireless printer is offline, when it is online and I can print to it wirelessly. How can I get it to recognize my wireless printer is online wirelessly? AIO Remote will only recognize the printer is online when the USB in connected to the Yoga 2.

Thank you for the additional information. I apologize for misunderstanding. I just want to confirm that the HP AiO app that you downloaded onto your Windows 8.1 computer is showing your printer as offline when you are able to print wirelessly to the printer.
I have two different documents for you. The first one is How to Use the HP AiO Remote App for Windows 8. It has a FAQ section at the bottom of the document with trouble shooting steps. I have also included the Supported Printers for the HP Scan and Capture App.
If the above documents don’t assist you, would you please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

For some reason, I can't compile a video or image sequence anymore with Premiere, Media Encoder, or After Effects... All CC

I have been working on a video for awhile now and I've recently noticed that my .flv export format has been removed from my choice of encoders. I export from Poser Pro Game Dev to Png Image Sequence. I organise a cam angle in After Effects...I re render out to a png image sequence.. continuing to hold quality. Then when a scene is done; I use Premiere to export a 1080 by 720 wmv format 29.97. But now I can't encode from Premere, Media Encoder, or Affter Effects. Please ...Any help would be much appreciated.

Aperture to Kodak Gallery or other online media storage

Can anyone give me any advice on the best way to get my edited photos from Aperture to one of the online media centers, such as Kodakgallery.com or Shutterfly? I think that you can go straight from iPhoto, but I was hoping to avoid having to duplicate my photos. I was also wondering if I were to import my Aperture Library into iPhoto, and set it up so that it wasn't duplicating the full resolution masters, could I then send those image files to kodak and expect to get high quality prints?

There are two ways to do this:
If you want to export the files as jpegs then do that - at your preferred quality - to the desktop and upload them from there.
If you’re using high quality Previews that probably isn’t necessary, and you can upload from with in Aperture.
Go to the website concerned and click on the upload link. This will give you a standard Open/ Attach dialogue. You can access the Library under the Media heading on the Left, Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

Compressor 4 drops frames when converting 25fps image sequences

I am using Compressor 4 to batch convert 30fps and 25fps 1080 tiff image sequences to Uncompressed 10bit 422.
I have created custom presets for both 30fps and 25fps.
The 30fps conversions are fine.
But the 25fps conversions have missing or dropped frames and the resulting clip is too short. For example a 106 frame image sequence becomes 88 frames when converted to Uncompressed 10bit 422 QT. (which suspiciously similar to the 83.33% difference between 25 & 30 fps)
I have double checked my setting and can not find a problem (see grab)
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Update: I have found a work around for this problem, but it is not pretty!
By using the 30fps setting even for 25fps sequences, every frame gets included in the resulting QuickTime. But it plays at the wrong frame rate, so I then use Cinema Tools to change the frame rate to 25fps. Then everything is fine.
As Compressor 4 has been around for while, I can't believe this hasn't come up before!

You can do do both online as well as offline.
Online :-
You can do it by creating a generic sync application.
You need to create a remote enabled function module which will take as input a purchase order number and check it from those available on the system.

The decision of choosing one among the two must be based on various aspects.
Smart sync/Offline is preferred for complex scenarios and those having a lot of data to be transferred between the client and the backend.
On the other hand Generic Sync/Online is preferred for relatively simple scenarios and those involving less amount of data.
I feel since you only need to see the availability of a particular purchase order in the backend, it is a very simple scenario and can be easily implemented via a generic sync/Online appln.
Not that it cannot be done through a Smart Sync/Offline appln, it can be done easily here also but its just that i think that it is not needed here.

Answer would be no unless application provided such feature. Numbers does not as far as I know.
Note that even if you have complete list of formulae used in a table, identifying formulae referencing any given cell is not simple.
E.g., cell T20 is referenced not only in
=T20+1
but also in
=SUM(T)
=SUM(20:20)
=SUM(S19:U22)
=OFFSET(S1,19,1,1,1)
=INDIRECT("T"&(10*2))
In order to identify such formula, we have to actually evaluate it to see if it references the given cell. Especially such formula as OFFSET() and INDIRECT() may not be found by static parser because their parameters can be dynamic.

Clip in sequence linking to wrong media?

Hi,
Some very odd behavior in my sequence. I replaced a clip in the sequence with a different clip, and although the timeline now shows the new clip, when it plays I get audio from the old clip and video from another clip altogether. Or rather, it played fine a few times, and exported fine to a qucktime, but when I re-exported it at a different frame rate then not only was the file wrong but the sequence had changed and was wrong as well. Because this happened at the last minute I didn't see it until it was projected in front of a thousand people. Humiliating, to say the least! After the fact I corrected it by cutting in the new clip again but I'd like to understand how, technically, it was even posible and if there's any way to prevent it happening again.
I'm not sure what information is needed to help me solve the mystery, but for starters it was edited in FInal Cut 7 on a Mac Pro (circa 2007). The original clip is an APple ProRes file and the new one is H.264, but I don't see how that would create the problem. The original clip was ripped from a DVD using MPEG Streamclip, the replacement clip was provided for downloading by ABC Studios.
Could be this was just a random, fluke thing but I'd appreaciate any thoughts on it.

That is exactly the problem. FCP-7 does not work correctly with H.264 media. Convert the H.264 source file to ProRes, then use that converted file in your sequence.

MX Records added to business catalyst but email not working since site was taken offline (subsequently put back online) by registrar.

We've been experiencing some issues sending and receiving email since 1and1 took our domain name down. We've now got the site back live (check devonshiremarkets.com) but emails are still not being received. I have been informed the MX records have not been propagated for the domain name.
Check MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox and search the domain devonshiremarkets.com. You should see no MX records are associated with the domain name.
Under the business catalyst management section the MX records have been correctly assigned to google apps MX records as follows.
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM (Priority 1, TTL 3600)
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM (Priority 5, TTL 3600)
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM (Priority 5, TTL 3600)

For Angel learning I need windows Media and QuickTime player for the site to work properly. I had both add-ons in my earlier version of Firefox but they didn't carry over into Firefox 4 I'm disappointed in this version the look sucks and the pop-up blocker menu doesn't work.
